I've wanted to check this place out for a couple years after I missed a meeting with my Legacy Builders group when I was out of town. We arrived just after 1pm and it was clean and quiet except for the cute pet cat Noche. I had a delicious big house salad with chicken and my friend had a medium pizza plus 2 cans of Diet Coke. It wasn't inexpensive but we didn't choose a lunch or other special and I was very happy with the quality and the quantity. We stopped in for a slice of pizza after a local event at the beach. It is always a treat to find a restaurant that offers slices! We ordered at the counter and found a cozy spot to sit inside. They also had outdoor seating. The slices were heated up and served quickly and we enjoyed them. The atmosphere was a little different from the usual pizza place. The cozy spot we sat un had a little fireplace and bible versus for decorations on the walls. As you walk up you're immediately drawn to all the church-like decor and it's very welcoming even for a non-believer. Inside is very cozy and feels like you're sitting in someone's living room so it was very comfortable. The whole ambiance was everything I expected considering it's a "church in a pizzeria." My friend and I ordered at the counter and sat ourselves. Food came out pretty quickly and the service was friendly. Cool place to visit just after a dive trip! Stopped into Phil's after a dive and had the lunch special. The pizza slices were huge and the flavor was there too. We also ordered a Hawaiian calzone. Had I know the pizza was as big as it was, I would have left off the calzone lol. All in all, it was a good visit. On the decor, it was refreshing and encouraging to see a restaurant owner proudly demonstrate his beliefs and convictions. This is a difficult review to write--the hardest to date for me. Those who know me, know that I am an open book; especially regarding my faith. While it is admirable and absolutely wonderful to walk into a business that promotes Judeo-Christian values and an altogether "heavenly" ambiance, I have a responsibility to review my true "food" experience without persuasion or bias. I had been looking forward to dining at this restaurant for several months. Unfortunately, my food was less than desirable when I ordered a Hawaiian slice of pizza and it was clearly a pre-made, sitting-on-the-counter slice. They cut up the meat and with a few chunks of pineapple, laid them on top (not even well distributed) and heated the slice. My daughter kept saying, "MOM! don't eat it--talk to them." One: I was famished, and two: I was embarrassed to return it and explain why. As far as the restaurant, though small, it is very pleasant with popular Christian music playing in the background, classics on the screen, and a plethora of scripture-inspired decor. To the owners: My spirit was grieved as I pushed myself to finish my meal. I kept thinking... 'I don't come close to perfect--I fall short every day, but one thing I do, no matter who... no matter what, I strive to treat each day as if it were my last, and I serve others as though I am serving our Lord.' It's going beyond the Golden Rule. Selah I don't know how else to express my heart to you, but I want to say the truth in grace; that you will find it in your hearts to forgive me if it doesn't come through as I intended.
