Ordered an iced mocha tesora. It was made and tasted fresh, extra mocha low sweetness as requested. Nothing outstanding about the service, but it was satisfactory. Wait wasn't too long, even with an event happening on Burlingame Ave. Clean and cozy setting with some indoor seating and a cute patio area out front. Crazy fast line, but not a crazy fast brew. Each person is working on 4 different orders at once. Amazing. I ordered "Ether, large, black. Wonderful. And when we pointed out that the signs inside were confusing, they told us that it was "common sense". Maybe they are much smarter than us, who knows? I have a love and a slightly annoyed relationship with Philz coffee in general, so this review isn't fully centered around this location in beautiful downtown Burlingame. It feels like every 3rd or 4th visit to any Philz location results in my stomach having some churning and burning after consuming one of their coffees. You may be saying, well that's a personal problem so try to be objective here. So the thing is, I literally have a daily coffee(with milk) at that mega large coffee behemoth with the color green in their logo, and I cannot remember the last time I had any stomach issues after consuming one of their products. When I do feel brave, I usually go with their Jacob's Wonderbar(dark roast-dark chocolate, smoke,nuts) with medium cream and medium sugar. I do applaud Philz for adding a large size in recent years although personally, this carries somewhat of a health risk for me. read more

I came in early on Sunday morning since we were staying by the Airport. + Mint Mocha Tesora iced with some sweetness + Gingersnap iced for the hubs (should've added more cinnamon to it, per the hubs) Great service and friendly staff. I am not a regular by any means. But I like Philz in the summer when I can try their creative iced drinks minus the sugar and cream. And I think this location is special. It's small, intimate and homey with lovely art on the walls. I'm a big of the iced Mint mojito (who isn't?!) with oat milk instead of cream and extra mint to make up for the honey (though I like a small drizzle of agave). This time the super friendly barista (whose name I am forgetting but she is in the photo!) suggested I try their "secret drink"...which was an iced coffee with a cinnamon hazelnut flavor that she crafted to perfection. Once again it tasted great with just oat milk. And all the cinnamon makes up for adding sugar. If that sounds good (as it tasted), you'll have to ask for the...Dancing Haze. San Mateo is usually my go-to location but I had to visit the Burlingame location instead for my regular coffee grounds replenishment since the SM location was closed. I placed my order via the Philz app and the earliest pick up time was a 35min wait due to high traffic - a little annoying but understandable. Once it rolled around to the pick up time, I got a notification saying that my order was ready. When I went in, I looked around for my order since it wasn't on the table and was promptly asked to wait outside by the only barista there who was way too far & busy to ask any questions to. After waiting outside for 10 mins and still not seeing my order, I went inside again since a second barista had come out. I gave my name and waited outside. After another 10 mins, I saw him go to the front and grab a bag of beans that he then proceeded to ground for me. I waited an extra ~25 mins AFTER my pick up time just to get my order. Having already waited 35 mins due to the high traffic, I can't believe that they didn't even START my order when the app supposedly said it was "ready for pick up". Met up with one of my girlfriends and the company was great but the coffee shop experience was a-ok. I honestly hate the Philz Coffee ordering system. You have to get in line to order the drink, get in a different line to go pay and then go back to where you ordered the drink to get it. Depending on the size of the store, you easily run into the people who are in the first step ordering a drink. When we were ready to pay, the cashier wasn't there for a while so the line got super long and it intertwined with the ordering area. I noticed the Iced Coffee Rosé on the menu which is definitely a newer item on the menu, so I gave it a try. Pretty tasty, I love the sweet and creamy of it. Maybe a little too floral, I'd rather it be a subtle taste of rose. We shard the Mediterranean toast with avocado and egg, nothing special about it at all. There were a few seating areas outside which was nice, parking around is pretty challenging because a lot of it is metered spots so make sure you give yourself adequate time to find parking and get to your destination. read more

Coffee tastes delicious! I love my Philtered Soul the house way and my husband enjoys his Jacob Wonderbar. I have to say Lela is one of the most cutest and sweetest baristas ever. Seems like a new employee but the other day her service was so great I had to mention it. Always had a smile on her face and I have great conversations with her. You can tell she shows interest in people and I've never felt more cared for by someone working in customer service. She was a bit under pressure but made sure my husband and I got our online orders on time. Was very kind when I asked for customizations. The store is very alive and has a warm environment. I'm writing this review specifically because Isabelle was the most amazing barista and really made my day. She didn't know I was having a bad day, or a bad couple days. I came into Philz because I didn't have the energy to make my own coffee and Isabelle was the one who took my drink order. I didn't know what I wanted exactly, and she patiently waited for me to decide. Isabelle calmly and politely took my order and was the sweetest person while doing it. My drink came out perfect and it was exactly I needed to help make my day a little better. I could tell she was swamped, but a little kindness and a fantastic cup of coffee goes a long way. Pretty much everything I want to say, has already been said. Get-the-iced-mint-mojito-coffee!!!!!!!!!! You can't come to a Philz without trying one of these aweliciousness goodies!!!! Heck, you can't come to SF without trying Philz period! With that being said, this place was the first coffee shop we visited on our trip, and the only coffee place (different location) we went back twice during our short trip. If you have read enough of my reviews, you would know by now I'm a latte art enthusiast. I rarely visit coffee shops that don't offer latte art (starbucks is the exception cuz they're so convenient being everywhere with a drive-thru lol). However, after seeing the insane number of good reviews for pretty much all of Philz locations, I knew I just have to visit at least once. A few things to note: You place your order with the barista first. Pay at the cashier, then pick up your drinks from the same barista that you placed the order with. I have only tried the iced mint mojito coffee. You can choose the dark, medium, or light roast for this, sweetened and with cream is the way to go. Trust me ;) This place completely throws my rating scheme out of the window lol. They don't offer any latte art, but their coffee is so freaking good and cheap (hence I visited twice), the service was so friendly and quick, I just have to make them an exception and grant the 5 stars!! I love Phil's Coffee. The fresh brewed cup of my favorite Silken Splendor coffee is the perfect way to start the morning! The coffee is smooth and aromatic. If you are a coffee lover, you can't go wrong! Five out of five for their coffee! However, if you're in a hurry, this Philz location is not for you. I've been here numerous times and it's always frustrating when the app says your order is ready, but they haven't even started on your order. I think setting expectations is important and my order has never been ready even though the app says it is. In fact, while I wait for my order, almost every other person is also having the same experience. Although I like the coffee, I think the app is lowering the experience when it doesn't deliver. It's okay if the wait time is longer, but please update the app to provide accurate information of when our drink is actually ready! read more
