Yesterday I stopped by Philz Coffee downtown Burlingame to try their new seasonal Salted Butterscotch drink. The place was busy when I went, so service was a little slow, but honestly that's kinda expected during busy hours. I appreciated that they have wifi and plenty of people were working there, including me. The coffee was, hmm good ?!? I mean I personally didn't really get much of the "salted" flavor from it, just sweetness. But anyway, this is still a great place to work or catch up with friends.

Love this Phil'z location! Located just around the corner from Burlingame Ave, this spot is almost always poppin'. For those who haven't been, you order with a person at a counter, then wait for your drink to be made. They don't do fancy lattes or anything here, just classic pour over style coffee. The differences come in the flavor notes in the bean blend(s) you choose. You can also mix more than one blend -- my favorite combo is the Philtered Soul & Tesora! You also get to select your "sweet and creaminess" levels. They have a few milk alternatives, as well as sugar alternatives like honey. SEATING; Inside along the pick-up counter, they only have a couple small tables and a couch that is often used for people to wait for their order. There are a few more tables and some window seating up front by the door and register. Outside, there are three longer tables and chairs to enjoy your coffee and people watch. They are big enough to accommodate groups of 4-6, or a couple smaller groups sharing. COFFEE: They have all the standard options for the Phil'z menu, plus new and seasonal items. They sell bags of coffee grounds and mugs as well, so you can enjoy it at home. You can get most drinks hot or iced, and they even have some fun "Featured Creations" such as the Iced Mint Mojito, Gingersnap, Iced Coffee Rosé, and Cold Brew. They also sell large bottles of their cold brew to take to-go. We've had them in our fridge on several occasions over the years! FOOD: They have a variety of pastries and sweets, along with more hearty options such as burritos and fancy toasts! I've tried many of their food items, and never been disappointed. SERVICE: Everybody I've ever interacted with has been very friendly. The people behind the bar making the coffee work super hard, yet always want to make sure your order is to your liking. The pour over style can take longer than what people are used to, so be patient, especially if it's busy. OVERALL: This is a great spot to grab some coffee and hang, or take your cup for a stroll up and down Burlingame Ave for some quality people (and dog!) watching. They also have an App that you can use to order ahead and have your coffee ready when you arrive! Shout out to the awesome staff here, I look forward to my visits each time! IG: @bbnem.eats

One of my favorite coffee places from the Bay Area. Really enjoy this location for taking a stroll through downtown Burlingame. this particular location has some limited, indoor seating, but also some outdoor tables. Free WiFi and bathroom with baby changing table. My go to drink: iced mint Mojito (half oat milk, half creamy, keep it sweet).

Usually this place does a good coffee. Not sure what happened today. I ordered the Philtered Soul (hot). The coffee tasted bitter like it was a day old coffee. But it also had an "oil swirl" in the coffee itself.

I don't mind spending a few more dollars and waiting longer for a good coffee. Philz makes each cup to order and they are good at customizing. I'm usually in a hurry or impatient and get a fast to go drink but sometimes I like to get something better and relax. Good place to hang out.

(Ryan Reynolds voiceover) The vibe is fab Philz hidden in plain sight off of Burlingame in Burlingame. Bianca warmly greeted me! I was in dire medical need of cyclic AMP and had to replenish my phosphodiesterase inhibitors as many of you already know. When I'm topped off, anything is possible! Isn't that right, ladies? Back to the review...the young lady expertly recommended the Ecstatic Iced Coffee. Large, Light Cream, Light Oat Milk aka Bianca's Way. It is the perfect drink for the sweltering 86° summer heat outside. The Pesto Chicken Sandwich without the sandwich as we do it in LA was absolutely delish. Would order everything again! Much thanks, Bianca! Woohoo!

I recently came here with my family and we ordered the basil ribeye, crispy spicy chicken special, tom yum scramble, and grilled chicken sandwich. Every single dish was packed with flavor and beautifully executed, but the basil ribeye truly stole the show. It's a must-try -- perfectly cooked, rich, and bursting with bold, savory flavors that keep you coming back for more. The rest of the dishes were just as impressive, each offering a unique twist that highlights the creativity of their menu. You can really tell they put thought into both the flavors and presentation. Service was warm, attentive, and welcoming, which made the whole experience even better. The ambience adds another layer to the experience! It has a lively, energetic vibe that makes it perfect for a fun brunch outing, yet still feels intimate and cozy enough for a romantic date. One thing to note: this place gets busy, especially on weekends. Come early and be prepared for a wait, but trust me, it is WELL worth it. Highly recommend Taste & Glory if you're looking for something flavorful, unique, and consistently delicious. I'll definitely be back!

If your navigation takes you down a small ramp, you are in the wrong area. Let's talk about the shop now, the inside is a bit small but it isn't lacking in heart one bit. There was one place to place your order but I think there might be two overall. You can take a peek and watch as the team makes your sandwiches. Gigi's even makes free lunches for those in the community that are having a tough time. I think that's really cool that this place is able to serve the community in this way. As for the food, I ordered the "Chipotle is my life". As a "city kid" there was always something about a classic deli sandwich from the corner store that just always hits and at Gigi's I got the same nostalgia feeling. The sandwich was great, bread wasn't soggy from the spread and it had great flavor! A nice spin on a classic turkey and cheese. The wait time was pretty quick so that's definitely a plus. I think the best part about all of this is you can take your sandwich and eat very close to the water if you wanted to. Albeit a bit out of the way, this will be my go to spot when I want a deli sandwich.

The matcha rose latte was really good, I asked for less sweet, which I prefer, and the drink wasn't bitter because of the adjustment. The waffle sampler was a sweet treat to share. It's not too sugary, but will definitely leave you feeling heavy. One note: the actual churro on top of the whipped cream was stale. Bit on it thinking it would be soft. Ouch! The banana and cream waffle I tried too! The waffle base tasted a lot like the churro one, but it is definitely a better choice if you're looking for a more simpler dish. At my seat (depicted) you get live behind the scenes of a kitchen. Me personally, I enjoy watching my food being cooked in front of me, so I enjoyed it. I originally went because of looking at the prices on an image on yelp. It was $16 for sausage, eggs, hash browns, and pancakes. That's a great deal! But, once I got there inflation kicked it up to $18. Not the biggest difference to deter, but just letting everyone know the real price. I got pancakes, eggs, hash browns, and bacon (depicted). The eggs were good, pancakes were very good, hash browns were okay, and the reason for 4 star instead of a 5.... the bacon. The bacon wasn't crispy and cooked to order. It was chewy and I guess they cook it before and then heat it up on the griddle after. It is super noticeable from the taste, but especially from the texture. I would recommend this place to anyone, but just be aware with the vital advice I wrote.

My pork chop dinner included soup or salad, slice of toasted and buttered sourdough, potatoes or rice, vegetables and choice of dessert. All for just under $30 before tip. The meal was as expected for a '60s coffee shop. Salt is the dominant seasoning. The turkey and rice soup was a smart way to use leftover ingredients. The boiled red potatoes were good. The two thin pork chops were supposedly marinated, but I couldn't tell from tasting them. They were over cooked--dry, tough and needed some herbs. DH had the cheeseburger with potato salad and praised the meal. He also devoured my dessert--ice cream with chocolate sauce. Service was friendly and efficient, making me want to return. Next time I'll have something like a sandwich or burger.

Hence the early pick up time. So understandably i'm angry. Mostly because the actual manager could care less and only offered up a nonsense discount or go home with nothing. Customer care clearly doesn't matter here. I only wanted a reasonable discount for this huge mistake and she absolutely refused. I hope the owners are reading this. This is my go to location for all special occasions and this manager is doing a great job of not taking care your loyal customers. Any custom cake you order there make sure to take the slip where the order is being jotted down and double and triple check it yourself that it is correct.
