Delicious coffee!! I finally ventured out to try some of Philz coffee and it did not disappoint! The shop is very spacious with plenty of room for a study break (free WiFi) or just to hang out with friends. They have a nice selection of light, medium, and dark roast coffees to choose from. Since it was a hot day I went with their mint mojito ice coffee ( $5 for a medium). The barista recommend to get it extra creamy and extra sweet so I went with his suggestion. After you order at the counter you can either wait for your coffee and pay after or pay right away and then pick up your coffee...so that's kind of interesting and a little bit confusing. Once my coffee was ready they shouted out the name of the coffee and not my name...again interesting. The creamy ice mojito was topped with a huge piece of mint which gave the coffee a hint of mint flavor. The ice coffee was very good. It wasn't too bitter and I didn't have to add more sugar or cream or anything! It was simply perfect! I live near this Philz, so I come here often when I need some coffee. The ambiance inside is great for those looking for a tight-knit community. There are areas designated for different types of interaction, such as the workspace area-- think individual chairs, tables near windows, space to place items-- and a comfortable area-- less seating, but consisting of more cozy-feeling seats. Personally, I enjoy the crowded feeling of everyone in the store, though, I know some people are looking for an "spacious" feeling for their coffee shop experience. For those who haven't been here before, know that it gets crowded quickly depending on the time of day. I'd say it gets very crowded around the afternoon-- many people opt to order out in the morning, so if you're looking for a semi-casual way to start your morning, sit down and enjoy the ambiance. Due to how popular Philz is, the wait for your coffee is going to take longer than your usual Starbucks. I had to wait around 15~ minutes for my coffee during rush hour, but I suppose the time is reasonable for a small staff. But the coffee is worth the wait. Granted, I've only ever ordered the Tesora (I like the consistency of ordering the same drinks at my local coffee shops,) so take my words with a grain of salt when I say the coffee is delicious. If you're looking for a review of the Tesora-- you're in luck! I get the large, creamy cream, full sweet, iced Tesora... and it's the best coffee I've ever had. Four out of five stars simply because parking is a difficult obstacle. I think I enjoy Philz so much because I don't have on near me to get it everyday. I enjoy a cup of philtered soul when I'm in the area. I love that there are now 3 sizes available: 12, 16, and 20 oz. This Philz tends to be busy. I've been here in the morning and afternoon on weekdays and weekends. Always busy. You can find some room to sit down at the various tables located inside and outside. If you're looking for somewhere more quiet to study, this might not be the spot for you. One of the other must-haves is the Philz Bagel--everything bagel with cream cheese, tomato, and cucumber. So delicious. The only downside with this location is the parking. There is a small lot that fills up quickly on weekends. Most times, I've had to park in the parking structure which isn't that far away; it's inconvenient for when I'm in a rush and just want to grab some coffee quickly. read more

I bought the iced coffee rosé. It was silky with a hint of a rose flavor and it was surprisingly refreshing for an iced coffee. The staff is nice. The ambiance is calm and the seating outside is very pretty. There are a lot of people working on their laptops or studying and it's a perfect place to sit and chill. The coffee cup size is a bit small for the price but it's still worth the purchase. Will be coming back again :) read more

Came back to Philz to try the Mint mojito and the Rosé! Both were mm mm yummm! The mint mojito is iced and their is mint leaves present, it kinda tasted like jamoca ice cream which is amazing, it wasn't too sweet. And the Rosé is now my favorite drink! It is iced and comes with some cold foam on top which I love but if you aren't a foam consumer probably order something different. I have now come back to get both the Mint mojito and rosé two days in a row! Also I tried the turkey sausage sandwich which tastes light, not too filling. Philz coffee is consistently good. This was the first time at this location and wow was it crowded. It's a good place to meet up and socialize but definitely a hard no for studying. In addition to the mint coffee, I ordered the rose coffee. It's basically the same but instead of mint, it's rose cream. The rose flavor is subtle but enough to linger in your mouth for a while. Oh Philz - I'm so happy you're down here in the OC! Even though you're super, super busy. :( Let's take a look. Pros: +I'm a big fan of Philz Coffee options ever since I had them in the Bay Area. Lots of choices for all types of coffee lovers that can be sweetened. My favorites include the mint mojito, the rose, the Tesora and the Dancing Water. For a drink, it's not too pricy (like $4-5ish). Also cheers for text receipts! +I actually like some of the food at Philz and the options. Some food options like quinoa to avocado toasts and protein breakfast bowls. Also, these items aren't too pricy (overall like $3-6ish). +Service is super friendly here like all other locations. They'll happily explain the drinks; help you with your drinks and are happy to chat. +The decor is nice with white walls and a modern look. WiFi isn't too bad for the most part and I believe there are some limited outlets (although as you'll see below, this runs into how busy this place gets). Cons: -This place definitely gets super busy. Seating is a bit tough although you'll usually find something either indoors or outdoors. Lots of different seat options from sofas to high tops but do expect a very busy atmosphere. This extends to the line as well. -The busy atmosphere extends to the parking. Can be a bit tough to find parking in the small parking lot they have just as a heads-up. -Finally, I've had a couple experiences where the server has forgotten a drink which with how busy this place gets, I totally understand. In the past 2 weeks, I have visited the Philz in Chicago (AMAZINGGG COFFEE & CUSTOMER SERVICE!!) and the new location at Bella Terra in Huntington Beach (AWESOME AS WELL!) I run a book/food blog and feature coffee shops and I was super excited to visit the South Coast location and feature it in one of my weekly reels.. This was NOT feature worthy (insert droopy emoji face here) 1) I ordered a medium iced tesora latte and the cashier asked me, "do you want that black?" I said, "no... I want an iced tesora latte" and pointed to the photo in the menu board. She asked, "but do you want it black?" Again, I pointed to the second board, where the latte is featured (not black) and repeated my order. She then said they can make it as a latte... just like I had originally asked.. weird.. 2) it took TWELVE minutes for my drink to be made. I have a 30 min lunch break and didn't even get to stay to enjoy my drink and read out in the sunshine as originally planned. 3) the parking structure (which they provide full validation for, which I appreciate!) Philz is by far one of the best coffee places out there. I have always had a great experience at this location and now that COVID restrictions are lifting...we are back to being able to taste our coffee before leaving to make sure it is exactly to our satisfaction. This is one of the main reasons why I love this place so much, they want to make sure the drink you have, tastes exactly as you would want it. My favorite drink is the Mocha Tessora (Iced), it is super chocolately so if you like chocolate...this the drink for you. I had their Iced Chai Latte the last time I was there and I wouldn't get it again as I didn't think it was super flavorful. The ambiance and decor is super cute in here. Everyone was really nice. The environment is clean and the staff are efficient. Came here as a first-timer to see what the hype was about. The first person to greet me was "Miguel" who took care of me. Right off the bat, he recommended drinks to try - I went with the "Soul Train". He created a conversation with me while making my drink; this kind of service made it unique from other cafes. The drink was recommended to me as "sweet and creamy", Miguel told me to ask for "House Way" to make it more simple the next time I order. The cafe is clean too with great music. It has a hazelnut chocolate taste. They allow you to substitute the milk if you prefer other kinds and adjust the sweetness and ice too! This location has parking in front, the side, and the structure for two hours with validation. I like to come here to study at times but sometimes it can be hard to find a spot! Today was my first visit to Philz and I was so thankful and excited that when I let them know it was my first time there, they gave me my coffee for free as a Thank you! I got the Philtered Soul Hot Coffee with Medium Cream and Medium Sugar and it was really good! When I first walked in it definitely was not clear on where I was supposed to order because it was just a long coffee bar and at the end was a register and food options. When I went to the register (like at Starbucks), he said I needed to actually get in line and order my coffee through the baristas first, then once I got my coffee I paid for it at the register and then added food if I would like. Seemed a little backwards and confusing at first. To management: please add some more clean signage or maybe a sign hanging from ceiling that says 'order here', then 'pay here'. Might solve people like me walking in 3 circles on my first visit lol. The coffee was made just to order so many options and it was definitely a unique taste. I loved it! Different flavor options, intensity of coffee and creamer amounts. I also tried the breakfast burrito. It had a great taste and little Tapatio hot sauce packets are available for you. Phil is on a tear these days as these coffee shops seem to be opening more frequently popping up left and right. I had a chance to stop by before the huge crowds set in today and enjoy one of their specialty drinks, a mint mojito on ice. A bit of cream, chocolate, mint and not overly sweet. They have some amazing deserts as well and my favorite is their maple scone dusted with a touch of sugar on top. Their chocolate chip cookies are just right for me, as I like them a bit undercooked to give them a soft, but chewy texture in a good way. I also got a chance to try their their toasted bread with a mediterranean spread topped with cucumber. Something a bit different for sure delicious as well. My only complaint is that I wish they had a bar where u could add extra (cream, cocoa, vanilla, etc) to your drink. read more

Honestly it's a nice environment and the breakfast turkey sausage egg sandwich is pretty good! But they need to add a matcha latte ! I am not a coffee drinker and I know this is a coffee place, but matcha is like a basic necessity for non coffee drinkers or people who love going to cafes to work in general. I got a chai tea latte and it was average. Oh and the parking can be limited as it gets really packed on sundays! I do like tho that the hours open are very early at 530am!
