Never reviewed, but had Pho 3-4x. Pho Tai Lan, the garlic one is so GOOD, tasted the meat before I mixed in my takeout order in a bowl together, the flat noodles are great. Mixed with the broth the flavor really pops and I love it. Typically would prefer south to northern style I think but this one is so good so if you're in doubt who cares, if you like good meat and garlic this is legit. Will repeat. The other times I've had it, it tastes great too. Open late, modern interior but still casual. They have a discount on UberEats so pickup is cheaper... than in store? Interesting! Came here with some pals for lunch, this was my first time, but they rated it highly - they weren't wrong! :) I'm all about the depth of flavor and notes when it comes to broth, and this place is doing it proper. They have a northern and a southern style, I tried the #7 [special north style pho with everything] with the thicker noodles and was not disappointed - great flavors, proper noodles, and plenty of meat and greens. The service was quick! We had our meals in front of us within minutes of sitting down, and as expected, our water cup was never empty. The place has a good amount of seating, which is good because they have a good amount of patrons there eating! Came here for a late bite after a pickleball session. Its got a cute little ambience and limited but efficient menu. I got the no.7 Pho , It was good. My biggest gripe about the experience was service. The lady was nice and courteous but the guy working here was always angry. When we entered , I asked him if I could sit on a different table than what was being assigned and the look he had on his face made me wonder if I shouldn't have asked for it. Later, I asked him if I could get a fork - he gave me a look and asked me to wait , took his own sweet time cleaning the next table and then gave the fork while I waited with my Pho next to me. Over-rated! Don't quite remember why we picked this place, but it probably was by seeing something on social media.... Anyway, the flavor is ok, but it is overpriced, small sized, meat not cooked right, and overall experience just not good, in a city that has so much to offer, this does not cut it. Had my doubts about an aesthetic social media vibe pho restaurant but it hits the spot! We had to try the northern style pho since they described it as having more of a spice flavor. I haven't tried their southern style to compare, but the broth is a deep and rich/spiced broth. I highly recommend the flat noodles since they're super soft and melts in your mouth. Meat is not fatty and is plentiful unlike some pho places and you won't be disappointed. We live near a couple of pho restaurants but will usually go out of our way to come to this one! Was in the area and friends wanted to meet up to grab a bite and this place popped up on my Yelp. The stellar reviewed drew my attention and decided to give this place a try. (Also the nice modern decor). There's ample parking in a huge plaza with lots of other popular choices as all the spots I saw had long lines. They serve both northern style and southern style pho and took me a long minute to figure out the difference and realized I'm used to the southern pho and decided to order #7 northern pho special with side order of oxtail and am so happy I decided to give it a try. For starters their pho felt more like art than food. The attention to detail from the bowl of pho on the bottom to the condiment plate connected on top to the sauce plate on the very top. Also this is the first pho place that has grass fed beef and their soup is amazing. I also ordered a side of oxtail which was pretty good. And because I had my toddler with me, she got a free kid bowl of pho. Overall: service amazing, pho amazing im a fan :) the service was really above and beyond. They don't accept cash! This pho place is very good. I really enjoyed my pho. I got filet mignon, brisket, and tendon in my southern style broth pho. They offer northern style broth too, but I prefer the southern style since it's lighter and less fatty. The meat they use is very high quality. I liked how hot the broth was and how hot it stayed throughout my meal even after adding the fresh raw veggies. For $15, they surely packed a lot of meat in the pho. I've only gotten to try northern style pho once before so I was excited to have the opportunity again. My boyfriend and I ordered the cha gio egg roll appetizer ($9) and we each got the #5 pho tai chin northern style ($15.00). They put a little glass bottle of water on your table with mint sprigs that you can take home!! You better believe I took it home lol. Food was ready fast. The egg rolls were the ones with typical golden wrapper (not the rice paper ones which are my favorite) and they were a bit on the smaller side. They also only provided a small amount of mint and 3 small flower shaped cut out pickled radishes and 3 of the same for carrots. A bit disappointing that there wasn't more veg because I love adding it but the egg rolls themselves were super flavorful and had large chunks of shrimp inside. The pho was served in a big fancy ceramic container with matching bowl plates stacked on top that contained veg (bean sprouts, jalapeños, limes) and sauce (sriracha and hoisin). You could definitely tell the soup was different than the typical southern style. More spices and very savory! I poured half of my sauce inside and dipped the meat and noodles into the remaining sauce. There was so much meat! We were able to finish everything but were stuffed. Tried both the Pho Bac Dac Biet (Northern style) and Pho Nam Dac Biet (Southern style). I preferred the Northern bowl - the larger flat noodles were great, the broth had more flavor, and it felt like it came with much more meat. One thing I really liked was the presentation. I've unsuccessfully searched for those bowls online ever since, so if anyone knows where they're from, pls let me know haha. Another nice touch was the fresh basil served in a jar. Was craving northern style pho after my Vietnam trip so I found this place. I came early in the morning so there wasn't much of a wait. I ordered the northern style pho and surprising it's very different than what I imagined. In Vietnam, northern pho has sliced beef with only green onions, while the broth is pretty clear and light. Based on their menu explaining south vs north, I think they might have northern and southern style backwards. The Northern style pho here is darker in color, deeper flavor, and fattier compared to Vietnam. There's also a lot of different cuts of meat, bean sprouts, basil which wouldn't be served in northern style but would be served with southern style in Vietnam. But I'm not complaining the more ingredients the better! Overall the bowl was very filling and delicious. They also have a really cool little basil plant on the table that you can take home with you when you're done eating. So it's Pho weather. And though this location is behind the Orange Curtain, I made the trek from LA to see friends, or in this case, a friend, one who bought me lunch. Life is good. It's in the plaza on the corner of Brookhurst and Garden Grove. If you've been here, you know how parking can be. But I guess on a Sunday afternoon, it's not bad as there was ample parking. But as I arrived on "Ran" time, some tables started opening up and I was asked if I wanted a larger table. I didn't refuse and good thing too because the two topper I was on would have been pretty tight with the amount of food for two. I mention this because the service throughout was great. Not a lot of interaction but very attentive and thoughtful as I noticed how larger parties were also taken care of as far as seating goes - so everyone was comfortable. Then there was the food. Pho comes in a pretty cool tiered bowl. Pho in the bottom, bean sprouts and jalapenos in the second and sauces on top. See pics. Also got some egg rolls and a side of oxtail. Enjoyed all of it but here's where I felt any improvements would have made me really love this place: broth was not piping hot. I prefer my broth to be served steaming to the point that I wouldn't even dare try it lest I burn my mouth. The second was the oxtail was a little on the dry side. I'm used to oxtail that falls apart, not needing to be cut or broken apart. But, like I said, the flavors, the taste, the mix of ingredients all were great otherwise. Exceeded our expectations! We actually decided to come here because our first pick was too busy (it was Christmas day) so we didn't look at the reviews first. There was a waitlist inside to put your name down and even though there were a few empty tables, there weren't many staff working. We got both the Northern style pho with wider noodles and the Southern style pho with thin noodles to try. Both came out in these ceramic three-tiered pot that we've never seen before but they make sense. First tier was sauce, second tier herbs, third tier your actual pho. Each table even had a little bottle of fresh basil which was a really nice touch. We both preferred the Southern style. It was not very different from the southern pho, on this day the southern pho actually had more flavor than the northern. It was very noticeable that there was a distinct lack of cardamom which is typically very strong. Now the food--it was one of the best if not the best pho I have ever tried. There is two styles to pick from, southern and northern. The northern one tasted so rich and herby, I definitely recommend. The aesthetic of the plating is so cute and unique, the bowls are HUGE! They give you a good amount of delicious meat and the noodles are delicious as well.
