Decent pho for cheap. You pretty much get what you pay for. The one time I went I absolutely loved the pho beef. I asked them to fully cook the beef prior to adding it to the soup. My professor told me there are like a gazillion other pho places near here. So I thought this place was good, but what do I know, I am Hispanic. LOL read more

Pho is my single favorite meal in the world, and Pho 79 serves the best pho I've ever had! They use ox tail to make their broth, and any pho enthusiast knows it's allllllllllll about the broth. It's full of depth and has just the right amount of seasoning. The meat quality isn't THE best I've ever had, but it is Good and plentiful. On top of that, if you order a bowl, you can order a cheap and sizeable side of ox tail for that tender, fatty goodness to go along with your already perfect bowl of pho. But get there before or at the very beginning of dinner because that ox tail goes fast! This place is 15-25 minutes away from home, and there are a couple of pho spots on the way that are pretty good, but I will always make the trip for this wonderful bowl of perfection! Pro tip: You can't order the ox tail to-go, but you can order a side with your bowl of pho and then ask for a container, which you can use to combine the rest of the delicious broth you didn't consume and have a second round at home with some fresh cooked noodles you got from your local market. Extra pro tip: If you love ox tail but don't want to fill up on the other meats, order a bowl of pho without the meat along with a side of ox tail, and BOOM -- HEAVEN in a bowl!!! read more

Oh man the food here was sooooo tasty, and cheap! I'm glad I yelped this place and that we came here for dinner after a rainy day at Disneyland, even though it's a bit out of the way. Saw some other reviews talking about the oxtail so I said why not, let's order it and try it, it's pretty cheap. Not a mistake because it's super tasty (though a little on the oily side), but be warned, it's a decent amount of food. As in, the two of us couldn't quite finish it, since we also got our individual bowls of pho. The broth for the pho by the way is very tasty and steaming hot. I like my meatball pho, and both the meatballs and noodles were spot on. They definitely are pretty busy here, so there's a possible wait. But it's a good sign when the local Asian population is hanging out at this restaurant :) Was hard for us to find the correct lot at first, we made a right turn a little too early and initially were in a mini strip mall thing, so keep an eye out for the correct building! I am a phó snob. I will not eat average phó and will travel great lengths for a good steaming bowl of phó tai. So I spent about 2 hours persuading my friends to join me in Little Saigon for some good Vietnamese cuisine. We all ordered the phó tai for our mains. We were served the phó very quickly and dug in. The broth was fragrant and rich with flavor. The Vietnamese cinnamon came through very nicely. The rare beef was cut extremely thin and still had a bit of pink which is my absolute favorite. Best pho I've had in the US. The flavor is amazing. There's usually a wait. I've never been here when there's no wait; however, the wait is totally worth it. They open super early though, so maybe that might be a better time. The restaurant isn't that fancy with gimmicky hype trends and decor, but that's because the place has confidence in its quality of food. That's the main reason to come here: its food. When I came here, I ordered the pho with assorted cuts and the oxtail on the side. My friends and I come here literally for the oxtail. Sometimes they're sold out of it, but they're always trying to prepare more, so sometimes they may come up to you and say "we have Oxtail now" after you've already finished your pho, but I don't mind because that's how good it is. A lot of pho places can sometimes have a tasteless or bland broth that just does not hit the spot, but the pho here hits the right spot. The beef bone broth is packed well with immense flavor, and you'll definitely be full at the end of the meal if you order properly. Anyway, the pho is not too salty, portions are not skimpy, and the experience is typical for a Westminster pho place (i.e. casual, wipe your utensils before using, crowded with Vietnamese clientele, cash only). When coming on a weekend before 11 AM, the wait is short. Parking is small for a popular restaurant. I didn't bother fighting for a spot; I parked down the street in a neighborhood. Pho 79, one of the most poppin' pho joints in Westminster area. The hubby and I were hoping to score a side of their oxtail pho, but came an hour before it was offered (it's ready to be ordered around 11AM and is available until sold out). Either way, I was still pretty satisfied with their brisket and tripe pho! The broth is always so clean and delicious that I never feel the need to add any hoisin or Sriracha sauce. This pho place has been one of my staples since growing up locally in the area. They still don't take card but that's okay! Just remember to bring your cash! They provide three different sizes (small, medium and large). Other than pho, they have rice dishes and more. This is the only location for pho 79. They closed the one in the Asian garden mall. I have to review AGAIN because someone reported my post - That it was not a review from a customer's 1st hand review of a business they had actually visited. I visited. I drove the miles. I parked in the lot and visited the Resturant. I watched as car after car pulled in behind us and dealt with the gnarly snafu of crazy traffic. I visited the business because they had posted their hours of OPEN, I saw the inside of the Resturant and the epic remodel of the business's interior. I admired the full windows along the business and the view into the lot. I admired the business and it's interior and it's location and knew that with all of the competition close by AND the unending line of continuous traffic,.. they must be a well loved Resturant. I WAS PHYSICALLY AT THE RESTAURANT. It's still bookmarked so I can come again. Enough of this bs that I wasn't there. We actually had to drive around and ended up eating right across the street after our real visit to this restaurant. It was our first visit and we missed the entrance the 1st time around. We look forward to our next visit - we hope it's considerably better than our first. But if someone keeps reporting this post - I will keep posting a low rating. The first time I tried to come here I went on Wednesday night, only to be greeted by the large banner (and lack of Yelp hours research) about not serving dinner on Wednesday. Been to several pho restaurants and this is definitely one of the best pho restaurants I have been to in OC! After recommendations to try this place from a friend who's parents own their own pho restaurant (which almost guarantees that the food is on point) I came to try this restaurant during peak dinner time. You may have to stand outside to wait but the seating is plentiful on the inside and it didn't take longer than 5 minutes to get seated even though it seemed like a full house. There is no other pho place I want to eat at. Period. With so many options for pho scattered throughout Orange County and a good amount of places located in Bolsa/Little Saigon, where do you go?!? You can pick a place with a punny name, but everyone knows if the place doesn't have a number in it, it's not legit. So what sets 79 apart? Well, the parking lot is literally the worst ever. The restaurant is tucked behind a liquor store and the parking lot is adjacent to it, and it has the most and largest pot holes I've ever seen in my life. Like, you might as well call yourself Indiana Jones as you traverse through it to park your car. The exterior and interior are pretty drab as well. Your American plastic forms of payment aren't valid at this establishment either. Service is mediocre, but they get you your food fast. The owners couldn't care less about any of these things, because their primary focus is to serve you a damn good bowl of pho. They don't have any gimmicky 50% off deals, but what they do have that every other place doesn't is OXTAIL. Limited in quantity daily, the OXTAIL comes in a separate bowl of broth and some green onions and scallions and it's absolutely divine. It's perfectly cooked, fall off the bone tender, not gamey at all and I could eat 2 bowls of it by myself. Take that first bite and it just melts in your mouth and it's like you've experienced a bit of culinary transcendence. Get there early as they usually run out within a few hours, so don't bitch and moan if they're out...just come back earlier next time. You won't regret it. The pho itself is super flavorful. The noodles don't stick together and have a nice consistency, and they give you LOTS of meat. It comes in 3 sizes: small, medium and large. You can also have them just give you a bowl of noodles in the broth and eat it with the OXTAIL. I also suggest you tell them to give you onions soaked in fat.
