With the happy hour discount I won't count this against them. Positives: -taste, I came here with my godparents and they liked it. Food is great, the broth is super flavorful. The only thing is that this location is located in an odd neighborhood and the ventilation is really bad. The first thing you smell is old oil. We tried to order egg rolls as an appetizer but they were sold out. We came in half hour after they opened so I thought that was odd. My sister can't have rice noodles and typically pho places are able to substitute it with egg noodle but they sold out of egg noodles as well. Overall, their pho is good but we will not be coming back to this location. There's another location in Garden Grove area that is better. The only reason why we came to this one is because on Yelp, it's showed that this location is permanently closed. But, we drove by and we see people dinning in. The broth was not hot enough to cook the meats in a timely manner. This small bowl is $17, steep for pho anywhere. The soup was mediocre, nothing special. 4 piece chicken eggs rolls for $8 were really crispy. Their Vietnamese coffee could be better. The best part was their free fruit/veggie juice. I've heard of Pho Akaushi for a while now but have not had the chance to try it until now. I happened to be in Lake Forest and found on Yelp there is a Pho Akaushi close by, so I went to try it with my dad. The pho was mouthwatering delicious! The rare beef steak was so tender and soft chewy, it just melts in your mouth! Their pho is pretty authentic so it is more on the fatty side, but the broth is so clear and so amazing! They also carry fresh slightly wide noodle, so yummy! Just like home cooked pho! Every ingredients in our bowls was cooked to perfection! Even the steamed bean sprouts and the mints and the lime! They really pay attention to the quality of their food here! I also had the chance to chat with the owner, Tom, and learned so much about his inspiring business adventure! I also learned that the other Pho Akaushi that is called Redbo by Pho Akaushi is not affiliated with this original Pho Akaushi at all, even though their name said "by Pho Akaushi". I took a closer look at Redbo's yelp page and indeed it is very confusing because the search results and name is still Pho Akaushi, misleading customers who want to go for Tom's original Pho Akasushi to inadvertently end up at Redbo. I'm happy to know that owner is opening up more locations of his Pho Akaushi, one is already opened in Huntington Beach! If you have not tried Pho Akaushi by Tom yet, I highly recommend you try it and experience the soft and tenderness yet lightly chewy slice of beef heaven in your mouthwatering pho broth! A perfect crispy texture plated with chili sauce, fresh lettuce, cucumbers, and shredded carrots to compliment them. My shrimp pho was tasty with big shrimps. My only complaint is the pho didn't have other vegetables like I was expecting, only sliced green onions. The broth was flavorful but a bit on the oily side. My husband appreciated the tender beef cubes but complained that his soup was lacking flavor and was oily. This location has had other restaurants that didn't succeed throughout the years.. My only suggestion in hopes that this one remains in the plaza is to lower the cost for the pho. $16-$20 per bowl is too pricey hence the minus one star. After first trying pho akaushi on Bolsa in Westminster, we found out they opened up a new location in Lake Forest and drove 20 mins to check it out. I normally always order a large whenever I get pho elsewhere but at Pho Akaushi, their small is equivalent to a large. It is very well-portioned with a generous, generous amount of meat! It was 90 degrees out and I was scrolling Yelp for lunch ideas. I've heard so much good things about Pho Akaushi but haven't had the chance to try it since it was a little far away in the old location. The broth felt clean and addictive, like a home made broth. You can really taste the difference in quality of this bone broth simmered overnight vs other restaurants who just throw a handful of MSG in it and call it a day. I managed to slurp down a large bowl and savoring every spoonfuls. I appreciate the quality of the ingredients so much. The meat was oh so tender and flavorful. We met chef Tom who was so friendly and kind, he makes everyone feel like family when they come to eat there. We also tried the egg rolls, they were so crunchy and delicious. My older daughter was craving pho all day. I saw this place mentioned in the OC Register food reviews and had been wanting to check it out. I've never been to their Bolsa location cuz I'm to lazy to drive up to Little Saigon but this LF location is super convenient. The parking lot is open and easy to access, the restaurant tucked in a corner of the shopping center. The menu is not as big as other pho shops but they offer some unique dishes like wagyu fried rice (that's on our list to try next visit). I got the Rib Cubes Pho and my daughter ordered the Rare Steak pho and we got the egg rolls too. The broth was rich with a deep flavor and the noodles were cooked perfectly. We both loved the tenderness of the rib cube meat so much that I had to fight off her chopsticks everytime she tried to poach one of mine! The staff were friendly and welcoming. Really happy that there's a Pho Akaushi closer to me, and much less crowded! The owner Tom is so sweet, and really loves to strike up a conversation! The staff is also super friendly and nice. This location is situated in an interesting lot with two access points, and the access point we entered through felt like a supply route for dropping off a shipment at the big 99 cent store. Parking is plentiful at this location, and it looks like they took over an old pho location called Pho 99, as when you first enter in there is a big watermarked glass panel with the old Pho 99 logo. If you see this, you're still in the right location. Because this is a newer establishment not all items on the menu were avaliable, but I expect this to not be a problem in the coming weeks. I'll be back to try the waygu spring rolls another day. The egg rolls here are fantastic and crispy, and the pho is delicious as always. What really stood out to me was the meat this time around. The cuts of waygu used when we went here were so decadent. I'm not sure if we just happen to get a really fresh batch but it was fantastic. The broth wasn't as flavorful as their location at Garden Grove this time around, but I would attribute it to being a new location and needing to lock down suppliers, staff, etc. The pho overall on an off day still beats out everything within a 15 mile radius, and at reasonable prices for the quality you get. A welcome addition to the southern OC area and I'm very excited for this to be my new go to pho spot. read more
