Food was not bad overall. Noodle portions are relatively small. The service was mid and as well as lady walking around trying to sell me a bouquet of flowers while I'm eating. Someone should manage the restrooms. It shouldn't smell that bad as well as the floor being all wet and gross, toilet was a mess, overflowing trash bin that obviously hasn't been emptied in a while, and empty paper towel dispenser. Came here with the bf tonight after we tried going to pho 79 and phoHolics, which both hand lines on a Saturday night out the door. No wait here. Booth seating. Choice in size bowls worked perfectly. I ordered a small/regular bowl and bf ordered medium sized pho. I asked for wide noodles (not on the menu, but they have, which is nice). Regular noods aren't as good so if you can find a place that does wide noodles, go for it. I like that the lighting is soft and not eye seating fluorescent like some places do. This place never dissapointed me. I usually get the Combo pho or their ox tail pho, but tonight I was in the mood for an egg noodles. So I got the egg noodle w/ wonton & bbq pork with extra meatballs, and Soup on the side (dry soup) The broth is good, refreshing, not salty.. just perfect for my egg noodle soup. As stated, this restaurant has "vegan options" the only two options are tofu egg rolls and tofu spring rolls. Just like many others stated, we called to make sure they had vegetarian pho. Their "pho rau ba dau hu " is really misleading with stating their vegetable pho has tofu, it has "vegetable broth or beef broth"???? We called to verify that the vegetarian pho option existed before going. However we got there and ordered but server said there is no vegetarian options, they don't even make the vegetarian broth???? First time here in such a long while before the pandemic. Before the pandemic, my close friend love this place and praise it a lot. This pho place is located in Westminster and Brookhurst...next to a Vietnamese karokee place. Parking is horrible so be prepare to wait. Inside looks decent and staff is wearing mask and there are protective glass on certain tables. Menu have a variety of food and drink selections. You could pay with your debit card (with a $10 minimum purchase at least I think) but no credit card. You could do separate checks. So here are the cons: it took 13 minutes (I timed it) after placing a order for the Pho Dac Biet (special beef combination). It wasn't that busy and it was less than an hour before closing. Portions have been cut down. Broth is average. My boyfriend and I have been dining here weekly for a year or so, and we can't stress enough how much we love this place!! It's good, fast, well-priced, and open late. We usually order the #8 with egg rolls(to die for ) and a lemonade soda, and this has quickly become a comfort meal!! Late night Vietnamese food on Westminster Blvd! Pho Lu was such a popular and crowded place that every time I drove by, I saw groups of people standing and waiting outside of the restaurant. I have tried their take-out Pho in the past year, and it was full of MSG that made my head hurt for half of the day. So I decided to stay away from this place for a while. Fast-forward to 2022, I wanted to come back in person to try other items on their menu to see what was new. We had the seafood rice noodles and char siu egg noodles. I had to say they taste better, lighter, and with a lot less MSG than the last time I had food here. Everything on the dining table was organized, and the veggie plate they gave us was fresh and clean. Prices were ok, not too expensive. Service was mediocre. I guess the staff were just having a bad day when I came. I've been coming to this place for over 10 years. I live down the street and I used to love this place so much. Ever since they remodeled, this place became the worse pho place I've been to. Service sucks. No matter the time of the day, they will always be in a bad mood. They mess up your order and continue to talk smack in Vietnamese to their fellow coworkers. The chicken is dry. I used to think this place was the best in town but I'm SO SO glad I gave other pho places a chance. Ambiance is ok I guess except when it gets really busy the workers start pushing you around so they could pass by. The pho places across the street have the same food but much better service. I'd rather eat my food in peace and not upset bc someone's pushing me or talking smack because they couldn't bring my order correctly. Pho 79 on Hazard & brookhurst is DEFINITELY worth the wait. Second time back here but first time during COVID. They open at 8, we came at 8:25 and the tables were not set up yet. We had 5 adults and a baby in our household. Their biggest table was the 6ft table but it was in the sun. So we crammed into the 2X4 table and made it work. I tried the mi hoanh thanh xa xiu (egg noodle wonton char siu). It was the first dish to come out, before the pho and the pho ap chao. I would recommend to stick to what they're known for which is pho. The egg noodle was over cooked, the char siu had no flavor and was probably frozen prior, the wonton skin quickly broke apart and the broth was not tasty. What also got me concerned was that they handed us paper take out menu and I might be wrong but it looked like they reuse it. I also thought due to COVID, that they don't hand out the hoisin sauce and saracha bottles and it had to be given in individual containers. But this was not the case. We had such an odd experience here which matches up with other reviewers! First, a lady seated us and placed a pile of paper placemats and menus down on the table without even setting it up. She just straight up left it on the table in a stack. After we set up our own placemats and menus, an older gentleman with a tablet approached our table and did not say a word. He then looked at each of us which we assumed meant it was time to order. My husband ordered number 11 and I ordered number 1. We also ordered an extra side of onions which they charge for. The gentleman pressed on the tablet, mumbled something and walked away. He did not repeat our order to confirm it's correct. We received our food shortly after by 2 more gentlemen who did not say a word. My husband quickly noticed that he did not receive what he ordered (#11 pho with meatballs, tripe, and tendon). They gave us two #1's (pho with filet mignon) instead of #1 and #11. When this was brought to the older gentleman's attention, he suddenly found his voice and told us we both ordered a #1 as he nodded his head in disappointment. Would've been nice if he actually spoke to us, greeted us, and confirmed our order! I assume this is the same older gentleman who is mentioned quite a few times in other reviews. We received the correct order and enjoyed our pho! The small really is smaller than I've seen, but it was still tasty. The drinks we ordered arrived when we were halfway done. I thought that with Covid closing businesses, smaller restaurants would WANT your money and try to get you to come back especially when there are pho restaurants on every corner here.
