5 Stars for my favorite pho place!!! Not only in OC but that I've ever tried. The broth at Pho Lu is elite. It pairs super well with their meat, which is always thinly sliced and tender. Their veggies are also always fresh and plentiful, which I appreciate. Their wait times are always great. Even when it's very busy, the staff works hard to get the people waiting seated. I will say, they won't be checking in on you to see if you need anything during your meal, and you pay at the register so once they give you your order you'll have to flag them over, but I personally don't mind not being asked how my food is when I have a full mouth lol Really recommend, definitely a gem! read more

I'm never one to make reviews but today service was really upsetting I'm a regular for so many years and never in my life of going or in general have I been ask such a odd question one seems not to receive by a server. Get this a regular here and this had to be either a new server or lady working here but me and my partner usually always come together and we got sat a table next to the cashiers and restroom and while eating everything seems to be going well however once it finally got to the time my partner had finished eating his food he excused himself to go use the restroom and I continue finishing up the food this server had came to my table asking me "if my friend was using the restroom" hence never in my life have I or my partner been asked this before at a restaurant so I was taken back to the response and baffled since again I've been coming here for years and they've never questioned me or ask this because this is a complete strange inappropriate thing to say especially to a customer who does not look suspicious or callout whatever the case may be. So after my partner came out I told him what had happened and let it be known that it made me very uncomfortable that I was going to speak on it why they were asking this and when we went to pay he payed actually !! I asked her why did she asked me that question and had it been because maybe we forgot something or he dropped something what was the reason and the lady had nothing to say she had put her hand up and looking down like she messed up accusing my partner and manager had to step in and say that it could've been that oh cause sometimes people want to get something to go when that's not the case because they usually asked while you're still eating and the girl wanted to avoid looking at us and not responding to the question. Ima be straight up the food is good, the vibes are there and it definitely has a nice modern look. The only thing is the servers rude and careless. The servers are mostly just a bunch of teenagers who don't understand English. I had asked 3 times to 3 different servers for soy sauce and they all just looked at me and walked away and never came back with anything. This place would definitely be a 5/5 if they at least had some English speaking/understanding servers. Saying this as respectful as possible, it would make everyone's life so much easier. read more

In between 3-4 stars. The ambiance is very pretty and the wait time, if there is one, not that long. I like that their bowls come in different sizes and the menu is extensive. The staff are definitely not welcoming at all. I came because my friend wanted to go there since my usual spot was closed due to celebrating lunar new year and I gave it a shot. 12 years later since my original review and I am still coming here. I think with that lens in mind it speaks volumes for the appreciation and bias I have for this place. However, even with post COVID inflation pricing, I keep coming back for reasons more than just sentiment. The food is still delicious and the quality is great. There are times where I go and maybe the pho broth is off or I got less meat than I usually do but I know them to be one off experiences and not a trend or pattern. Classic late-night Vietnamese joint. There's so much to offer here including Pho and rice dishes such as Com Chien and Bo Luc Lac. It's usually packed until closing and there's lines at times. Parking is decent but the plaza is large enough for you to park elsewhere. Service is okay but you shouldn't expect much customer service from a Vietnamese restaurant. One of the best Pho houses in Orange County. The meat is amazing, the filet Mignon Pho is our go to here. The location is great, right off the freeway at Brookhurst and the 22. Conveniently located across the street from Reptile Factory for all my reptile lovers out there. I rarely give out 1 star reviews but unfortunately due to a friend having a medical/potentially deadly allergic reaction this past weekend, I do NOT recommend eating here at Pho Lu. My friend came by for an early dinner on Saturday this past weekend and got a dish and asked for no peanuts since they have a pretty bad allergy. When they got their food, they saw that there were peanuts and asked for the dish to be remade but they did not and simply added different ingredients on top which resulted in cross contamination. Due to the huge negligence on the staff's part, my friend ended up having to go to the ER after eating the dish and an epi pen they had didn't work. So please do not eat her for the foreseeable future as they don't seemingly care about people's allergies and seem to brush it off. They're open very late and I've never had an issue with it being too crowded, they're very quick with the service as well. Our friend who is familiar with the area introduced us to Pho Lu and showed us their favorite dishes to order there. Since then, we've gone back and taken our parents and ordered the exact same dishes. For appetizer, we start off with spring rolls with grilled shrimp paste on sugar cane (#36 - chao tom). They give you the option to wrap them yourself or for them to wrap them for you. Tip: you get more food when you ask to wrap them yourself. Also, it's quite fun! Their oxtail pho (#17) is quite worth it because the oxtail comes in a separate bowl and you get a lot of meat. It's so tender and perfectly cooked. The most unique dish that we ordered here is the panfried rice noodles with seafood/beef (#81 - pho ap chao). This is so delicious! You get little triangles of fried crispy noodles that you can dip in the gravy in the middle. We ordered the seafood one and the sauce is on point and it's very generous in portion. I've never had this dish before and it reminds me of the Cantonese-style crispy noodle dish, but I enjoy this one even more because of the thickness of the noodles and the balance between crispy and soft. You have to come here just to try this dish! In terms of eating at the restaurant, the tables are a bit smaller with less room for your legs, and the lighting can be pretty dim if you are eating there for dinner, but it's pretty standard for a pho place. read more
