    Pho dac biet small ($7.99)
    Johnfavour N.

This is some legit Westminster pho, for $8 cash only you'll get some of the best pho for the price. Note that it's $8 for a small, which was the perfect size to be full but not stuffed. The greens (Thai basil, lime, bean sprouts) were fresh and plentiful. Each table has a sriracha and hoisin sauce to make your own dipping sauce. The ambiance is pretty casual and there's a free parking lot, although it might get packed during peak eating times. Service was great and what you'd expect from a no-frills pho spot: they take the order fast, bring out waters and don't hover. It doesn't take long for the pho to come out once you've ordered.

Wow flavor is beyond amazing. Got the small Pho Dac Biet bowl. Came out pipping hot and brothy. Fully loaded with fresh wide noodles. Generous amount can opt for thinner noodles. Plenty of veggie condiments unlike other shops that don't give enough. It tastes like homemade pho so, so very comforting. Love it!!! Can't wait to come back and try every other dish!! The service staff are welcoming. The place gives you a typical Vietnamese restaurant feel. Remember to bring CASH. This is a CASH only establishment. Also exact coins since we have coin shortage.

I'm having Bun today. It's my simple way of tricking myself into eating more raw vegs. Bun is a noodle dish w/o soup - 1/3 of the bowl has fresh raw vegs, 1/3 has the soft rice noodles and topped with 1/3 of cooked marinaded tasty protein . Also a small bowl of a salty lite sauce to add or to dip in. As with most restaurants, there are also other flavor enhancers for people who crave stronger taste. I wonder why so many people can not taste subtle flavors anymore - but is another subject. Ambiance & Service - unrushed in late afternoon. Clean quiet casual neighborhood old trad. spot. Just good simple food prepared well, served quickly and priced fairly. Busy popular corner shopping ctr next door to Costco. Not classy. Not fast food. Not for Vegans - broth made from bones of animals. Not for high maintenance people. I think that covers most of it. lol

This place is open 24hrs a day, 7 days a week. It is one of the few pho places in Orange County that is open 24/7. The pho there is super delicious and mouth watering as you can see in this photo. The service there is usually speedy quick and the ambiance is very tranquil and feels authentic. The soup is always hot and rich plus the servings and pricing is always nice! This is one of my top go-to pho joints that I make sure to share with friends, family and pho lovers when I can.

Food is good. Mom and pop owned. Service is good as well. Place is nice and clean. Great place to get pho. They're open late so that's a plus. Nothing negative to say about this place. CASH ONLY!!! But they have an ATM inside the restaurant if you need to pull cash out.

What can I say, this local Vietnamese spot in OC simply just does it right and the prices are phenomenal. They've got all the classics from pho bowls, com tam rice dishes, and they even have ox tail pho!!! Visited the other day and had grilled pork over rice with fried egg.... It's a great way to start your day!!!

Definitely my favorite place to go just keep in mind it's cash only but they do have a atm the food is very affordable and super tasty as well. The service is quick and servers are super kind and sweet. The inside is clean and I felt welcomed. I went here twice and will be coming more in the future

The most value bowl of Phở đặc biệt in OC. They never skimp out on ingredients or flavor despite how value their prices are! Additionally, I could never get over this broth. The ladies that work here are so sweet, creating such a homey atmosphere. Just don't forget to bring cash!! If you didn't, no worries! There's an ATM machine is available inside the restaurant.

To-go Bun Thit Nuong Cha Gio
    Em B.

CASH ONLY! $7.99 for Pho Bo (small) as you can see in the menu. No credit card and they have a sign for CASH ONLY at the register. To-go will be charge $1 more. Wait at the door for a table. Staff will let you know when a table is available. No sign-in/waitlist. Staff will come to take your order and bring you food. Get up and Pay at the register. If you want a Pho bowl for under $10, this is the place to visit. Pho broth was definitely not the same quality as Phoholic. Generous meat and noodles for small bowl. Meats were okay - some pieces were not tender. No Ngo Gai and only Thai Basil and No green lime but yellow lemon - two essential pieces to Pho missing for my personal taste. Bun Thit Nuong Cha Gio (to-go) - fish sauce mix was not as good as other places and they do not include shredded pickled raddish/carrots. Grilled pork was well marinated but were a bit hard compare to other places. Lots of bean sprouts and green lettuce but only a few pieces of thai basil and no mints. The shrimps are small and hard not worth ordering them as extra. Cha Gio was okay. However, I support our older folks (moms and pops age) working here. They were very nice group of people and constantly cleaning table and serving on their feet. Parking - it is PACKED on the weekend. However, you can park in the old Office Depot size and walk over. Don't go in the restroom - I'll leave it there. : )

Is there msg in their pho?

Yes, unfortunately; they use MSG... I've been eating lunch here for the past 5 years with all of my coworkers & everyone walks out feeling thirsty; but we continue to go because it's conveniently located near our work & they cater to our 1/2 hour…

The chicken was crispy and the dipping sauce gave it that extra yummy goodness. The dish also came with a side of broth that had chicken bits in it, was nice to help digest your dish. I also loved that they gave you pickled veggies & fresh veggies. We also ordered the Loi's Fusion Saltado, upgraded the rice to garlic egg fried rice. The beef was soft and tender, the fries were nice and crispy and the fried rice was fresh. You 100% need to get the Thai Tea. A lot of place add too much cream/half and half diluting the tea flavor, they do not skimp on the actual tea in their drink. The color speaks for itself on the dark orange hue!

I'm a bit late getting around to writing this, and unfortunately, they are already closed, but I still felt like I had to share my experience. I'm not completely surprised that they closed, especially after trying their bò né. I've had this dish many times at different places around Orange County, and unfortunately, this was probably the weakest version I've come across. The first thing that stood out was the presentation. As you can see in the picture, there was this purple-colored sauce on the meat itself, which honestly did not look very appetizing. To make things worse, the sauce was cold and did not heat in time with the skillet, which really took away from the experience. The flavor itself wasn't terrible, but it also wasn't anything memorable. It was just okay, and when you factor in the cold food and the presentation, it made the whole dish disappointing. With so many places around Orange County serving bò né at a much higher level, I would probably recommend spending your money elsewhere. If you were wondering whether you missed out on some hidden gem, don't worry, you didn't. This one felt more like a piece of coal than a diamond. That being said, every restaurant has its journey, and with more time, maybe they could have found their footing. Hopefully, they can take this experience as a lesson, refine their recipes, and bring something better in their next venture. I am rooting for you Loi!

The pork patties were my favorite, and although there were plenty of the grilled pork, many of them were pieces with a lot of fat. That was my only gripe about it. Now about the hu tieu, which came with all the delicious bbq pork, shrimp, shredded chicken, fried garlic and onions, lightly dressed in an oh so delicious sauce. For me, the sauce was actually the star. Mix everything together and get yourself one delicious bite, filled with so much flavor. It comes served piping HOT so be careful! We also had the bun cha ha noi which is a very traditional Northern Vietnamese Nanoi dish. It has grilled pork patties and pork belly in a sweet savory fish sauce served with fresh herbs and cold rice vermicelli. You pretty much eat it by wrapping it with the lettuce or dip your noodles into the sauce. Very authentic and delicious without being overly heavy. Be prepared: this place is incredibly popular, especially during peak hours. Parking can definitely be challenging because of how busy it is. The last time I visited on a Monday, the lot was completely full, and I ended up parking on the street. The restaurant is also primarily cash only, so come prepared. They open early, making it a perfect breakfast spot for an early bowl of pho. The pho broth is exactly what I want when I'm craving comfort food--clean, flavorful, and incredibly soothing. However, the star of the meal for me was the chả giò. Wow. Although they arrived after our pho, they came out at the perfect temperature. I was hesitant to take a bite right away because freshly fried food usually burns my mouth, but these were just right. Crispy, airy, savory, and absolutely delicious. Paired with their fish sauce, it was perfection. I enjoyed the egg rolls so much that next time I'm definitely ordering the egg roll vermicelli bowl. Service was friendly and prompt despite how busy it was, and it's clear the staff works hard to keep things moving. One thing I love is seeing all of the awards and accolades displayed on the walls. Phở 79 received the prestigious James Beard America's Classics Award, and it's easy to understand why after one meal here. This restaurant is truly an Orange County icon. The restaurant will soon be moving to a new location, as signs throughout the restaurant announce the upcoming move. While I'll miss the original spot, I'm excited for the new space--hopefully with more parking! Some places are worth the wait, and Phở 79 is absolutely one of them.
