AMAZING pho. Depth of flavor was on point but absolutely NO non-beef options. The location is also a bit shady (you literally leave the building to get to the bathroom). Food (9/10) - Probably some of the best beef pho I've had. The broth was rich and had a really nice hit of saltiness. Super delicious, especially with the huge variety of meat pairings. The noodles had a nice springiness and paired very well w/ the broth. The drinks were also pretty good and the sweetness paired nicely with the drinks. The only complaint I have about here is that there are NO non-beef options. My mom doesn't eat beef so she had to just sit there. Service (9/10) - Efficient service. It was a super busy restaurant and I was surprised by how efficient their service was. They had it out in less than 10 minutes, even though there was confusion about whether or not we had ordered yet. I was actually very surprised by how fast they managed to get everything out. I have tried all 3 phoholic locations and this one is by far my favorite. I prefer it over the others as there is plenty of parking (since you can park anywhere at the mall and walk here), and the environment feels calmer. I don't feel rushed to eat. I came on a weekend it was busy many people were waiting I was quoted a 30 min wait and my name was called after only 10 mins. So don't hesitate to put your name down it will be called quickly. I was seated at the ramen style station tables and they were very spacious! Only downside of the ramen style tables is the typical condiments (hoisin sauce, sriracha, black pepper, etc.) aren't available and you have to ask for them. These stations were so peaceful since there was a blind that was put down once you got your foods so you can eat in peace and don't have to see all the hustle and bustle of the kitchen. I ordered a pho tai, chin, nam, gau, and sach with small noodles. It was delicious and hot. The portions are huge there was so much meat. I also ordered an extra side of suon bo (beef ribs) and it was so good and easy to cut and eat. The service here was great all of the servers are quick and helpful. If you are paying with card you can pay at the table on their portable system just ask the server. If not take the slip from the table and go to the front to pay. I came here about a year ago and really enjoyed the bowl of Pho and wanted my husband to try the food. However, this time around it was not pleasant at all. We arrived on a Saturday morning around 10:30 AM. There were maybe two other tables occupied. After we were seated, I think the staff forgot about us. My husband got up to use the restroom and when he came back, he was surprised that they didn't take our order yet. He got back up to go get someone from the front desk. A female staff came and begrudgingly took our order and acted as if she hated her job and did not want to be there at all. She hastily took our order and grabbed the menus and briskly walked away. They could've redeemed themselves if the food was good, but I can't say that was the case. We've eaten at many pho places but this was the worse experience. The broth was not rich and flavorful. It was bland and lukewarm. The meats were lacking in quantity and quality. It was so disappointing and we will never return. read more

Phoholic is downstairs of south coast plaza by Bloomingdale's. When we got there there was no wait time and we sat down immediately. The menu comes with plenty of different classic pho options and some yummy beverages. They took our order quickly and food came out about 5 minutes after ordering. The pho comes out very hot so the meat can cook thoroughly. Careful when eating! The pho here is so flavorful and you can tell their broth isn't full of MSG. Their basil and other topping ingredients they give are all fresh and the meal is tender. We ordered the big bone which was pretty cool and the meat falls off the bone so easily! We brought the extra bone home and was able to make a whole extra soup out of it! They give free iced or hot tea too. Delicious find! read more

We stopped at the South Coast Plaza on our way home from Irvine to have dinner and this is where we ended up and loved it. So happy we found this place. It's a huge bowl too. I love that they offer table seating, and the traditional bar seating with wood partitions. They offer both the thin, small noodles, and the wide, flat ones. Really tasty pho spot located right by Bloomingdales at south coast plaza. It's downstairs next to the shrimp ramen restaurant. Service was decent and food came out pretty fast. I loved that the menu was focus on pho only and different protein combinations. You do have the option to choose thin or flat noodles. Protein options are anywhere from brisket, oxtail, rare steak etc. the broth was super flavorful and fresh. There's a great selection of ice teas and other beverages. One thing I will say is that there isn't any air conditioning here. With the hot weather that's been hitting the OC recently, I was hoping to still satisfy my pho craving in a cool-off area. What happened?? I was excited for Phoholic to expand. Even more excited for it to be at South Coast Plaza inside Bloomingdale. Before arriving, I did read the reviews, so I was ready for a bit of disappointment. However, I didn't expect it to be so bad. At first glance, the place looked awesome lol The individual seating in the front made it somewhat unique. The inside seating was small. The tables looked a bit dirty. Now to the pho. Reg pho or the flat pho was broken. It was sad. The portion was little compared to the other 2 locations. The veggies were ugly looking. It looked broken as well. The vinegar onions had no vinegar. The oxtail was one big piece, but it wasn't soft enough. Made it difficult to eat. Tendons were good tho. Broth was ok. That was it? Service was whatever. The register area was really small. It pretty much the same place where you check in. I can't imagine what will happen if the place gets super busy. People who just came and people who needed to pay will have to merge to one line. I will feel annoyed. The register was also really close to the seatings at the front. If you wanna go before Bloomingdale opens, you have to go to a different entrance. Use the entrance that you enter to go Paradise Dynasty. If you have never been there as well, then you're screwed lol jk. Park to the south parking lot near the 405 fwy. The food here is really good. The service is good too. Ive only sat outside in their individual booths they have. Which is nice. Kinda like ichiran ramen but if you need the waiter again its kinda hard since the blinds they have open and close from the inside. I like the unique seating options and the seating area under the stairs, definitely a clever way to use the space. As someone who grew up eating pho all over Westminster/Garden Grove, this place has solid broth, xi quach was a nice add-on to our meal, and they do not skimp on the meats. What they do apparently skimp a bit on is noodles. I've never run out of banh pho before the meats at any other place I eat at and at first I thought it was because the meat portion was generous (which it is), but no I think it actually was less noodles than I usually get. I'd still go again because food is solid, but I'll keep my fingers crossed that they're heavy handed with the banh pho that day. read more

This place is located in the food court downstairs. The seating area is a bit small for this place and tucked in the back. There is also individual seating in the front. The service was pretty fast and the pho was hot. Although, I thought the pho was okay. I was comparing it to Rodeo location, and they didn't give as big of portions, and the vegetables they give on the side didn't seem as fresh. The meat was sticking together, but it was pretty tender. Inexpensive & solid lunch! Took a second to find as we were unfamiliar with the mall, but it's just down the stairs by the entrance of Bloomingdale's. The wait for 6 people was about ~20 minutes at around 1PM on a Friday afternoon. We were seated in the back space under the stairs, which did feel quite stuffy and warm, but our meal was pretty quick so it wasn't too unbearable. They put plates of vinegar onions and bean sprouts at our table, as well as the traditional jalapeños, lime, and basil. The portions of onions and bean sprouts were very generous, coming from an onion-lover. We ordered two #14's and two #15's (each $12.99) and my dad noticed other tables with bowls of giant bones so he ordered one of those as well. Our food came out super quickly, maybe about five minutes after ordering. They ended up giving us two bowls of bones with broth, one being complimentary and the other from when my dad ordered one, not knowing they were already giving us one. I appreciated them giving us a bowl on the house, though I wish they would have mentioned that they were doing so so we didn't have to buy another one, since my dad would be the only one eating it. The second bone bowl ended up being $5, so not bad, but we didn't need two. I usually go for Bun Bo Hue or other dishes when I go to pho restaurants. This place only offers pho on the menu, so I didn't have a choice this time. The pho had plenty of meat and noodles--I couldn't finish either in my bowl. I thought the broth was good and flavorful. The staff was attentive and friendly. We had a small child dining with us and her mom asked for a small bowl and fork to share some of her noodles with her. They ended up giving us a small bowl already full with noodles and broth, which was perfect for her. I've never experienced this at any restaurant I've been to and thought it was neat/nice of them. It was pretty small, having one small back space for larger parties (maybe greater than 3?) and another central bar-type seating for smaller ones. We originally had 9 people in our party and they had given us two separate tables before we consolidated after losing a few people to the food courts outside, so I don't know how well they'd be able to accommodate for any larger parties. Overall, this was a super decent place to come for lunch. It was inexpensive, quick, and had good noodles. I probably won't be back unless I'm craving pho specifically, but I would definitely recommend it as a decently-priced hot meal. read more

Loved PhoHolic ever since the Stanton location opened. Excited to try the South Coast Plaza location and it was a bit underwhelming. PhoHolic is Located downstairs from Bloomingdale's. This location's Pho tasted a bit different then the one on Stanton and I prefer the other location better it's much more roomy. However, what I love about this Costa Mesa location is the seating if you're eating solo. Reminds me of those Japanese Ramen places. Service was quick as you can press a button to get the waiter/waitresses attention. The iced tea here is more stronger compared to the Stanton location. read more

After hearing about phoholic opening at south coast, we decided to stop by for some pho on a Sunday afternoon. We were seated immediately in the back room which had tables for dining and the front had the individual seating at the "bar". The menu was simple with the pho options. I got the pho with steak and tendon and my husband got the pho with oxtail. We ordered the bone with tendon but they had just ran out and it was just around noon. We got iced tea thats free and some side raw onions with vinegar. They gave a bunch of blanched bean sprouts and veggies as toppings. The oxtail was not good, it was super chewy and the meat didnt fall off the bone like at other pho places. The steak was not slices of beef but more like ground beef meshed together to form a big piece. I prefer the thinly slices of steak. The tendon was so dense and not soft that my mouth got tired of chewing. The broth is dark but it just tasted meaty and not enough spices. After eating the pho, we had to drink so much water from all the sodium/msg in the broth. On top of that, they messed up my order and brought out the big flat noodles instead of the skinny noodles that i ordered. Their service is fast and the price is comparable but the quality of the food just wasnt there. We probably wont be back. read more

Saw this place on Instagram as one of the best pho restaurants in OC so had to come try it. Luckily it's not just all hype and aesthetics, as I was thoroughly impressed with the pho. Specifically the broth was very well made and tasted amazing! Broth is probably the most important piece of every pho bowl as everyone knows. The venue itself is as advertised, where you sit in a cubicle like setting in isolation like your taking an exam. Great place to eat alone I suppose. Yay one of my favorite pho places has come to south coast plaza! The original Phoholic has really grown on me. Fast good service, blazing hot bowls, biggest quantity and value. The new location has only been open for a month but i feel like they are still working out the kinks. Booth seating which really ups the game for single eaters. The pho itself is very similar to the original location with a few exceptions: they give you less garnishes, they dont give you bottles of hoisin or sriracha, they give you non sriracha hot sauce, broth seems a bit less authentic (there was powder things floating), they dont give you a side dish of broth/meat trimmings. Service was really good and price was same as original so expect this to be a huge bargain at South Coast Plaza. Will be back again and again for lunch! read more
