I really wanted to like this place since I'm a local, so I went in to order. I got the Bahn Mi sandwich to go, they took 20 minutes to get me the sandwich ( pretty sure they forgot about me since I asked twice). Anyways, when I got home I took a couple bites of the sandwich, and the meat was SOO fatty and gristle I had to spit it out. I really, really, wish the Tofu banh mi had more tofu in it. Also: it's $9. I work in Rosemead, so I can get three BIG sandwiches for that price. That said, the sandwich is quite delicious and they put avocado in it, which makes it even better. I just wish the tofu was more plentiful. This review is more of a 3.5 but that isn't available, so I rounded up. I'd go back more than once every few months if the banh mi was $1 cheaper and they put more tofu in it. read more

Love the chicken vermicelli noodle salad. It's fresh, and made with good quality ingredients. I usually love getting bun salads at Vietnamese restaurants, and that's basically what this is. I never eat it with the same haste as in other places because I'm pretty sure their chicken is clean. Their spring rolls are just okay though. I definitely prefer the veggie ones. I'm addicted. My wife and 2 year old son are too. We're in there at least 2x per week. Favorite spot out there right now. The area desperately needed a good Vietnamese spot and Phorage more than delivers. Our favorite is the vermicelli noodles with chicken, but their pho and bahn mi's are bomb too. My son regularly gets dirty with the Imperial Rolls. Also, great customer service. Usually see Alan there (who is awesome), but everyone else there has been super pleasant too. We need rehab. We were craving Pho so checked out Phorage today. Great service and delicious pho. I had the beef pho and the portion size is fairly large; I could only eat half of it. It was fresh and delicious/tasty. I also tried the papaya salad - it wasn't to my liking (I prefer something with a kick to it) but it was very fresh and otherwise tasty. Again, the service was very good, we received our order quickly and found our pho to be very tasty. We are very picky when it comes to pho and will definitely be back to Phorage. read more

The food is fresh, has good flavor.... Out of chicken and waffles, blue crab Bah Mi and the Caramelized lemon grass wings, I loved the wings the best. The coconut syrup and waffles were great as well. I thought the Blue crab Bah Mi lacked in the flavor department but to be expected when ordering anything made with fresh crab meat. The Thai Iced Tea was suuuuuper yummy as well, slightly better than it usually is. Enjoy a casual bite here with friends on a Sunday, the customer service was impeccable! I'm a huge pho fan and lived in Manhattan where an above average bowl was a block or two away, but we could boogie out to Queens to get busy on the pho scene. So, Phorage is a good take. I'm still saying above average, but it's a hair over. We've been a total of three times to their spot. We know it's all in the soup, and the flavor feels over thought. It's one of the deeper color broths that has lots of collagen and beefiness to it. I'm prefer the more clear broths that keep the deep flavor and don't have the same richness. Everything else is good. I remember we had nice spring rolls and a solid pork banh mi. I'd go back if I were in the neighborhood but traveling I'll take their other location by the beach, much nicer experience. read more

Probably one of the best pho broths I have had! Very flavorful and fresh! Great tasting beef as well! Loved the appetizers of the spring rolls, too. I'm not on this side of town much but def worth it when craving Vietnamese. The ambience is simple but creative and Eco modern. Love it! The service could be a little friendlier though. My old roomie wanted to grab dinner and I needed soup due to my cold so we headed over to Phorage to try it out. We were curious about what was in the space that used to be Chego. We both tried the natural beef pho and shared the imperial rolls. For me, it was almost exactly what I needed (what I really needed was some matzoh ball soup). I've never gone out of my way for pho, but the beef was really delicious. And the broth was great. The imperial rolls were delish as well. If/when we go back, I want to try the vermicelli salad. I do think it's just ever so slightly overpriced, but it's a pretty big bowl and I left satisfied. The service was really good, food is good and the crowd there seemed cool. Satisfied my pho cravings; I didn't liked that my to go steak for my pho was packed in a plastic container with no ice; luckily I live close by. But the quality of the meat was good. Basil, jalapeños, and sprouts packed for you, as well as hot sauce. Actually everything was packed nicely. Noodles get stuck together in to go container tho; probably better to dine in! Thai iced tea was good. Spring rolls were not good- heavy on the rice vermicelli, light in the shrimp. Peanut sauce had an odd taste. Friendly service. UPDATED REVIEW: This place is too inconsistent in quality nowadays, and the service is generally mediocre so I feel it no longer deserves the five star review I had given it before. It's always a roulette when coming here. Will I get a banh mi with great cuts of pork? Or will I get one with basically all fat? They've also doubled the prices of their pho since I started going there. Paying $14 for a bowl of pho that might not be good depending on the day is too much. I still go to Phorage on the regular as it's right by my house but it's my last resort when I'm out of food and don't feel like cooking or going anywhere better. I always expect to be treated poorly by the cashier as well. read more

Oxtail pho, amazing. Veggie fried spring rolls, good. Space is small so if it gets full it can be tight. The broth is very flavorful, their noodles are really good and the sliced jalapeño are perfect sized for the soup. Went for dinner tonight. Parking really sucks, had to park down on Overland. I don't mind walking but my wife has a bad knee so I dropped her off a block away after driving around. If I didn't see a space, we were bailing to some other place. I gave the rating of 3 stars because of averaging out the food and service We enjoyed the food, would give it 4 stars. I had the chicken pho, I really like the broth, my wife had the washugyu beef pho and she like the beef. Both our pho were warm but not served hot like other pho restaurants. Not enough to send back but we did wish it was hotter. Did our bowls sit a while, eating to be served? We had to ask the servers for our water, our order of extra noodles, napkins and chopsticks. My wife was not happy, the part of table she was at was very sticky and had not been cleaned. So we'd rate the service 1-2 stars Yeah, it sucked, we were surprised at how poor it was, been awhile since we had it this bad. I have and will always firmly hold that Colorado has the best pho you can get. However, when that pho craving hits, I still have to satiate it somehow. Phorage was one of the very first places I tried in LA mainly because it was so close by. Not my favorite place but I'll explain why I still give it 4 stars. The choices here are extremely limited with only 3 different types of pho from which to choose. They have other dishes involving rice and vermicelli noodles but that is not what I am after. I ordered the wagyu beef pho because it was the closest thing to what i was looking for. Their broth leaves much to be desired. It tastes like it is simply water with powdered beef flavor added in instead of a slow simmered broth made from beef bones. The cuts of meat, brisket and thinly sliced rare steak, we're just alright. The brisket was tasty but the meat was a bit to fatty. The broth wasn't hot enough so the rare steak ended up being too under cooked for me. The noodles also had a slight powder flavor which I never enjoy. Now onto why I still give this place 4 stars. I think a lot can be made up from how you treat your customers and I know that not everyone's taste buds are the same as mine so you might actually really enjoy their pho. When I told them that the rare steak was just too rare for me, they immediately gave me a bowl of brisket and a small bowl of really hot broth to reheat my already cooled down bowl. Their attentiveness and excellent customer service gave them a lot of extra points even if they were not my cup of tea. Worth trying at least once. read more
