First of all, it's a little trouble to find. GPS sent us into the wrong shopping area (corner) instead of the next strip mall. From Foothill, enter the driveway and make a left into the strip mall. The restaurant is at the very end of the strip mall. (If you end up at Bowlero, you failed to make the left turn.) The food transcends most Chinese food you've ever had. I attribute the flavor to the freshness of the food and to the perfect seasoning. We had the Kung Pao dish with the three meats, the Orange Chicken (uniquely prepared in thin slices, not chunks), and the Mongolian Beef. (I listed them in order of joy.) Don't be deterred by the prices (about $14-$16 per dish) because you are going to have enough to take home for later. And don't be deterred by its location. It's best accessible from the 210 freeway at the Sierra exit. It's a local delight. As we sat there waiting and eating and watching UCLA lose to LSU, we saw locals drop by to eat on site, to pick up take out, and just to get a large boba drink. Most of the customers seemed to be friendly with the server and the man with the hat (owner? manager?). Good vibe. If you sit down to eat, you will order at the table and pay at the counter. Both the Kung Pao Chicken & Beef Broccoli tasted the same. Which should not be. The Kung Pao Chicken was not spicy at all, and did not have that Kung Pao flavor. I enjoyed Phu Chen Kitchen. The BBQ Bao was delicious, soft and fluffy. The Orange Chicken was crispy, well sauced, and the Beef Fried Rice was savory with tender beef to boot. Wonderful food. Unfortunately, the service leaves a bit to be desired. If you're looking for a warm, friendly environment, skip this restaurant. They're very blunt. The restaurant itself is very clean, but the table next to my party went uncleaned for an uncomfortable amount of time. To end the meal, there was no fortune cookie. So, if you're looking for that classic experience then I'd recommend going elsewhere or getting dessert after. Omg we found a new hidden gem in the IE!!! Absolutely delish! We ordered chicken fried rice, ginger onion beef and can't go wrong with orange chicken. The larger dining area seemed to be out of commission so we sat by the entrance. The service was quick and simple. You order your food at the counter and have a seat. Looks can be deceiving. We drove all the way from riverside to check this place out and yup, it did not disappoint. Amazingly delicious authentic Chinese food that's not overpriced. We ordered the pork XLB, chicken fried rice, BBQ pork bun, green beans, shumai, and salt and pepper wings. Damn their food was sooooo good. I've never had shumai that big before (that's what she said). Seriously they were huge with a giant shrimp on top. We got there exactly at noon so we were the first ones there, we had a whole table to ourselves and that was awesome. Our server was attentive and very helpful, which my mom appreciated. My husband and I were hosting my family at our house on December 26TH for lunch. We were originally thinking of catering Panda Inn but I changed my mind and wanted to find a small family business to cater from. I've had Phu Chen Kitchen bookmarked on Yelp for a while and decided to try them out before placing any catering orders. There's plenty of parking in the plaza and they do have some seating inside if you want to dine in. However, there's no outdoor seating. The first time we ordered some dim sum items, orange chicken, honey walnut shrimp, and pan fried noodles with beef. We came a second time and tried the sweet and sour chicken and that's ultimately what sold us along with their customer service. For our family get together, we ordered a tray of sweet and sour chicken, honey walnut shrimp, and pan fried noodles. The earliest we could pick up was 12:30pm and our food was ready on time. They packed up the sauce and walnuts separately to avoid sogginess. We were totally happy with their service and will be regular customers from now on. read more

We ordered shrimp dumplings, pan-fried dumplings, egg rolls, black pepper beef with soft noodles and salt&pepper pork chops. While the noodles were soft, I didn't much love the black pepper taste on the beef but my Husband did. The loss of a star was merely due to having ordered the dim sum first, but being brought the mains first. She could have mentioned that it would take longer and we would have specified. By chance went to this place, hole in the wall, shady located in a shady neighborhood but since I was already there - I thought, just do it, place your order and lock your door and wait! It wasn't long. Maybe less than 15 mins for 2 entrees and an order of the sesame balls. I was pleasantly surprised. Authentic Chinese taste. I'm a snob. I promise you.
