We have previously dined at Pi-Squared Pizza, but I'm not sure if I posted a review. It was May 6, 2024. Here, you order and pay at the front counter, they give you a number placard to put on your table, and they bring the food out to you. I got a house salad with ranch dressing, ($9), which had the following ingredients: lettuce, tomatoes, red onions, green peppers, and shredded cheddar cheese; also a small Margherita pizza, ($11.50), which includes fresh basil, garlic, tomatoes, and Italian seasoning. I chose the round shaped pizza, as the Detroit style is "square, with thick, moist crust and made crispy around the edges by an infusion of baked cheese, and then finished with seasoned tomato sauce on top, where it could hit the taste-buds". This description is copied from their website. My husband ordered an oven baked chicken parmesan sub, ($9.50), consisting of breaded chicken and pasta sauce, with melted parmesan and mozzarella cheeses. He got a bag of potato chips as well. The salad was enough to share, with plenty to take home! We each had a fountain soda for only $2.50 a piece. The music was not too loud and had a 1970's vibe - definitely some Motown grooves. Now that I think of it, most of the artists probably got their start in Detroit. (Makes sense!) The bathroom was nice and clean, and it smelled fresh, too. It might be weird to take photos of a restroom, but there were cool photos on the walls, trendy lighting fixtures, and it was just so charming! The employees were very friendly and helpful. Our total was $37.36, paid with our debit card, and we tipped in cash. We ate at the Hendersonville location, which they call The Detroiter, 1972 Haywood Road, Hendersonville, NC 28791; phone (828) 693-0799. Hours are 11am to 9 pm, seven days a week. Ordered the same Pizza several times and each time it was different. Takes too long to get Pizza that isn't consistently good. But pizza in NC isn't very good to begin with. Neither are Bagels. I am taking the covid issue into consideration, but honestly, it seems to be becoming an excuse for bad food and lackluster service. Eating or taking out is expensive and especially since people don't have as much to spend. At any rate, no one wants to buy food and get home to find it's not enjoyable and barely edible. Oh man did this place drop the ball. We got here at 10:55 AM and were actually let in before the restaurant opened. The restaurant is completely Detroit themed and it looks really cool inside. You order up front and they don't have traditional waiters. We ordered two Detroiters (pepperoni Detroit Style Pizza) and a Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich (Just out of curiosity). I probably would have given Pie Squared a 3/4 if it wasn't for the Nashville Hot Sandwich. Here is where Pie Squared dropped the ball: 1. We waited 50 minutes for our food and we were the only people in the restaurant. I think two people came during us waiting for pick ups. I don't really understand how we waited almost an hour when we're the only people there (You'll see why soon). 2. The Nashville Hot Sandwich was borderline nasty. I don't use the word nasty a lot with any restaurant. There was no Nashville sauce on it. It was just chicken, cheese, and a lot of pickles (like 10). There was zero tingle of any form of hot sauce or Nashville Hot Sauce. The chicken had that fake frozen taste as well and wasn't fresh. 3. The killer. What killed the score: Our food was luke warm. Ouch. We waited and talked about going to this place for weeks. Waited almost an hour and when our food came it wasn't even hot. The cheese didn't even have a pull because it congealed waiting. That hurt my soul (not really, but you know). 4ish: The owner came over and was like...whoa you guys have been waiting a really long time. Let me see what the hold up is...then immediately came back with our order (We were forgotten) This review hurt to write. I never have had Detroit Style Pizza before and we talked this place up for weeks. More importantly, we had a lot of leftovers and made them in the microwave and when the pizza was actually hot it was phenomenal. Dang. Mountain food strikes again. *To the owner/manager's credit we were apologized to and given free ice cream samples for waiting so long. Credit for that. read more

Pleasantly surprised! My husband and I recently moved back to the Asheville area and wanted pizza. We decided to let Yelp help make our choice. The place recommended was opening soon. So we decided on Pi Squared. The pepperoni and ground beef pizza was fantastic! We've since had cheesy bread, the boozy bacon and pesto chicken. All were delicious! Our family group of 9 recently ordered a bunch of different pizzas from here recently when we were vacationing at a cabin near this location. We had kids who love plain pepperoni, adults who prefer thin crust, adults who needed gluten-free pizza, an adult who loves California pizza, and a legit New Yorker, who has strong pizza opinions. We ordered the thin crust with lots of meat, the Fig pizza on GF crush, a square pie with pepperoni, and more. Even the cheese bread. EVERYONE was happy. Several of us ate the leftovers cold the next day, it was that good. The New Yorkers even had two slices of the gluten-free fig pizza (with pepperoni) -- it was that good. Hands down the best pizza in Hendersonville. We always get the square pizza that is a deep dish style. We have tried many of the combinations, I really like the no sauce pi's that have olive oil rather than red sauce, but they are all great with a thick crust caramelized with cheesy goodness. Pictured is the buffalo chicken pizza we had on our last visit. As an added bonus they were also passing out samples of their amazing custard! Yum! This last experience has more to do with their customer service than their pizza and wings (which are always excellent). Wow. Super disappointed. We heard about this place from many neighbors and were excited to give it a try. The wait time for delivery was over 90 mins so we ordered for pick up. We ordered one large pizza mushroom with half pepperoni and half chicken. Thankfully the cashier asked me to check the pizza before I left. I did assuming nothing would be wrong and was shocked to find out the pizza had three pieces of chicken total! I asked the woman working if that was normal for a half chicken. She did inform me it wasn't. And she did instantly correct it by prepping chicken for my pizza. My disappointment is in the people making the food for being satisfied with that. Just follow the order. This is our first experience with you and we would hope one takes pride in their work. Five stars to the woman working the front end.
