We stopped here after a long day of driving and were welcomed by a gracious staff and a wonderful meal. Quiet atmosphere; exceptional food!! The Noce salad is excellent with golden beets, pickled fennel, walnuts! My husband had the smoked trout fettuccine which was delicious! I visited Piatanzi a few months ago with my husband in the middle of the afternoon: 2ish. There was one other customer in the restaurant. We sat there 10 to 15 minutes before ANYONE thought to come over to our table, even though the bartender(?) was watching us the whole time. Finally, someone came over, and we ordered beer and wine and our entrees. Then the owner(maybe) came by with a dish of fried calamari 'on the house' because we waited so long for service. The calamari, I am sorry to say, was bland and luke-warm. Not enough lemon, not enough dipping sauce, and tough.....( And, since it was free, I chose not to mention it to anyone there.) Then came the wine and beer..I swear I have never seen anyone bend over sideways with a ruler to measure the exact amount of wine I got which only filled barely half the glass!!(Not an expensive wine either!) Th;e beer came in a bottle. I should have ordered that. I would have at least got a full bottle. Then we shared a ceasar salad which was okay. Finally, got our entrees. I ordered a small pizza which was good had I not had so much bland food before it, because it was verrry salty. My fault since I ordered a greek pizza. My husband ordered an alfredo pasta, which by that time, he was so unhappy with the service and the food , that he wouldn't eat it. We took it home. I am just so sorry this restaurant turned out to be so disappointing because we were looking forward to having a 'good' restaurant that we could walk to in the neighborhood. I don't think we will ever go back. And I don't mind paying good money for something worthwhile.....This just wasn't. read more

The antipasto is great. A combination of goat cheese, artichoke hearts, and prosciutto. Generous portions for the noodle dishes. Fast and friendly service. A great family-owned business. I will be back the next time I am in Albuquerque! read more

The ambiance this restaurant is gorgeous perfect date night. Food was good. My issue with this restaurant is waiters are aloof and snotty. The price is super expensive. This would be a great place to drink some wine or beer at the bar but if you're going to eat some food be ready to pay out the nose for small portions. read more

I've tried this place 4 times and I'm always underwhelmed. It's close to my home so I continue trying it hoping it'll miraculously change. It doesn't. The fourth and final time I called in a to go order. I looked the menu up online and called to be told that menu is old and the items I wanted weren't available. Is it that hard to update your menu online? Pretty lazy. So the person recommended similar options. I ended up getting fettuccine with peas and pancetta (extra cost). After picking up my order, I opened up the fettuccine and saw plain fettuccine without the toppings. Of course I was charged for the extra toppings though. Live and learn. read more

Our dinning experience at Piatanzi. We do not recommend ordering the calamari. It was also $15 so we were expecting it to not taste like it came from a box. We had to ask for water refills twice even though the waiter was walking around just serving water and somehow kept missing us. We waited over 45 minutes for our main courses. There were only two of us. After the 45 minute wait, the food ended up being mediocre. First and last time going to this restaurant. read more

Great atmosphere and tasty food. My husband and I ordered two small plates and two plates of pasta as well as dessert. Standouts were the Parmesan truffle fries and the pasta pomodoro (surprising given the season). We had no reservations but were able to sit at the bar, which was fine. Went to Piattini with a co-worker for lunch after hearing about this trendy Italian Bistro not to far from my work. The restaurant itself is a modern trendy looking place and presented a great first impression. The prices for lunch are not cheap by any means ranging from about $8-$15. I ordered the Polpetta sandwich with an order of their soup of the day which was a beef/vegetable soup. My co-worker ordered a Margherita pizza. While the restaurant was not remotely busy, the service somehow managed to be very lax and subpar and we actually refilled our own waters with a pitcher left on a table across from us. The food arrived in an acceptable timeframe. My soup was extremely disappointing and lacked any kind of good flavor. It was essentially warm water with ground beef and some vegetables in it. My Polpetta sandwich unfortunately was equally as bland. The bread was the best part of the sandwich, but the meatball and especially the marinara sauce were as bland as can be. The ultimate test was the Margherita pizza. The appearance of the pizza clearly showed that there was more dough than mozzarella and sauce. A good marinara sauce is what makes or breaks a Margherita pizza in my opinion and their sauce simply tasted like fresh tomatoes with literally no zip or spices added in it. I now understand what many of the other comments were talking about when they said the food was simply bland. Had the service been normal, I would have probably rated Piattini with two stars, but the terrible service combined with the subpar and bland food gives them a good ole "one and done" star. There are so many other great Italian places to eat at with far more reasonable prices. Save your money, time, and expectations and avoid Piattini. read more

A business associate took us to lunch here today. The decor was darling-but the food was unseasoned and bland. I ordered a pizza...and had to season it with salt and pepper, for pete's sake!. Salad was unimpressive and looked like it came out of a bag. The service was horrible-the waiter was very slow and brought us our check without noticing that he had failed to bring us our dessert. The Tiramisu was pound cake with coffee-flavoring and whipped cream. All in all, I wouldn't do it again-if I want good italian food, there are lots of great choices in town.....which are far better than this. read more

Disappointed. We were excited after reading the menu. Having lived in Italy we thought we though we found a restaurant that provide us with the tastes we had been missing. We were already planning to return to celebrate a retirement. Unfortunately, the food fell short. Penne Salcicca: While the salcicca had a great taste, the penne was overlooked and mushy, not al dente. Carbonara: The carbonara had a great taste but the pancetta was over cooked - like overlooked bacon. Pollo: was supposed to be rotisserie style but tasted and had the consistency of boiled chicken. read more

Best Italian food in albuquerque. This is a small, cozy neighborhood joint with a huge menu and great wine list. My favorite dish is the mussels... some other great ones are the grilled artichokes, crab cakes, roasted chicken, scampi salad.... I could go on and on. Something to note is that their salads are awesome. They have 5-6 that are entree size with protein, and they're delicious. Super nice staff. A comfy, nice place to eat. read more

Losing steam. I have been to Piatanzi (formerly Piattini) five times over the past two and a half years. The first four times were excellent and I would have given it 4-5 stars, but it is not always in my budget to come more often. Last night was an entirely different experience. The grilled artichoke appetizer special was wonderful, and it was the first time I've had it. I ordered my other favorites from the last few visits and they were all terribly underwhelming. The cream of mushroom soup was meh, and I had talked it up to my dining companion, who was at Piatanzi for the first time. The beet salad was not as fresh as in times past, and the goat cheese was minimal. The vegetable lasagna (which has been so delicious the last two times I had to get it, again) was very sad and flavorless - I actually added salt! My friend got the mushroom pizza and said she wished we had gone to Farina -and added salt to her pizza because it was fairly flavorless.The wine was excellent (although underpoured) and the chocolate torte was good. I felt so bad that my friend gave her pricey dinner a "5 out of 10", that I bought it for her. Whatever changes are happening around here are not good. I spent over $100 on an ok meal. Piattini is a hidden gem tucked away a place you never would have imagined finding something so wonderful. The food and staff are excellent. They actively work to change and improve their service and experience and it shows. The wine selection is exceptional as well. They don't spare any expense to provide what is easily some of the best wines I have ever sampled. This place knocks it out of the park. Trust me. Seek it out and you will be shocked you didn't know about this place sooner. read more

Husband keeps raving about this place. Nice atmosphere. Just had lunch. Calamari was undercooked & aioli was flavorless. Genovese salad was flavorless & drowning in oily dressing. Vegetarian lasagne was excellent. Weird servers. Some tables had bread, some didn't. Plates weren't cleared in a timely manner. Server offered us "after dinner coffee" at lunch. Just weird. Hostess seemed sad (probably wishing she could eat something with flavor). I'll try it again, hoping for a better experience. read more

I think this restaurant is expensive for what it offers. The service is hit or miss. The food is "ok" but I do think it is over-priced for what it offers. I drive by all the time and the parking lot is always crowded. Perhaps it's better for lunch than dinner. My experience was for dinner on a weeknight. I don't plan to return. Had a wonderful meal passing through Albuquerque. Ordered two glasses of Rioja red wine that were $9/glass (on par with Denver prices, understand may be slightly higher than this area.) Then preserved a small portion of Caesar to share and had the Putinesca and Lasagne Bolognese. Both were very good. Knocked a star off because the bolognese was more of a red meat sauce, but still very good. The server (cannot remember her name for the life of me) was prompt, professional, and courteous. Definitely outstanding service and good food. Not five star dining, but for the price was an enjoyable meal and would expect it to be consistent. She also ran my wallet out to me when I forgot it....nice to know good people are all around. Would come back again. Entrees are generous and with the salad we both took leftovers home, could split and entree for a lighter meal. read more

Waited over an hr for food to show up on Mother's Day. Couldn't get a coffee refill. It's a shame because it's nice restaurant (appearance wise). But, nothing makes up for the terrible experience. read more

Went back at a friend's invitation for a dirnk. We ordered a salad and pizza. When the waiter brought the salad, he asked if we wanted bread. Affirmative. The bread finally arrived..with the pizza. Don't know why this restaurant can't organize its service. read more

The Girard location is fine. Their new Juan Tabo location needs lots of work. We had NYE reservations for 8:30 p.m. At 9:10 we were still not seated and when we spoke with the manager about it his reply was "I can't help how long it takes them to drink coffee." He made no attempt to work with us for something that was his fault - not ours. We ended up leaving the restaurant and had to find somewhere else to eat dinner on a very busy dining night. They don't know how to handle a full restaurant and reservations. Poorly managed. read more

The food was fresh and flavorful, the service great, and ambiance was perfect for an evening with friends, I'll be back!! We split a variety of plates - The highlights for me were the homemade meatballs, linguine with Alfredo sauce, polenta, and penne with sausage, but everything was truly delicious. Wonderful, local little place back a neighborhood. Food and service was fabulous and authentic. Prices were good as well. I had the linguine and clams and the other guy had the lamb. We spent more time keeping each other out of our plates than eating. We also had an antipasta plate which was yummy and fairly exotic with the meats, cheeses and olives. Disappointed... perhaps I did not order one of their better dishes... had a small Caesar salad and portion was quite generous and parmesan was fresh but the salad was very over dressed.... just way too much dressing for my taste... Ordered the fried calamari and was glad that it was not oily, a plus, but they needed more seasoning in the flour and lemon aioli just tasted like mayonnaise... was also disappointed in the dessert, the fruit crisp with vanilla gelato... the fruit needed to be a little sweeter and the crumble on top was too sweet... not a balanced dessert.. then it all came to $34 (including tip), which I would not mind for excellent food but it wasn't... expected more. may or may not try again... the bread and olive oil were scrumptious! It would be good to be able to order a smaller version of the calamari (say half for $7 rather than the current portion for $14) as it is too much for one person... probably just needs more seasoning in the flour and a better dipping sauce. read more

Food wasn't the best. They definitely ripped us off with the bottle of wine. We bought a Zin for $36 and the price at the store is $8. So they charged us about quadruple the store price. I know that restaurants do bring the price up but not quadruple! Zinc Wine Bar & Bistro for example, offers great wines for only about a $10 up charge of normal price. Very disappointed with this rip-off. Definitely not dining there again. read more

Went to Piatanzi last night for the first time. What a find! The ambience is modern and comfortable, the service was impeccable, and the food was just wonderful. The menu is big enough and varied enough to please everyone, and our server split the dishes for those of us who shared. I will definitely be back and recommend this little gem in Albuquerque. read more

I had an ok experience, but the price was too high for what we got. The lamb was not very tender and had better lamb at another place which was half the price and a lot more lamb. I understand that it's small plates, but maybe the price should be slightly smaller too. Nice atmosphere the decor was very nice, but I noticed that my glass still had lipstick marks I guess they do not polish their glasses. I liked the polenta very good for the side which came with the lamb, but the lamb should be more tender had too much grizzle. read more

i've enjoyed this restaurant a couple times in the past but most recent visit was a big disappointment. 3 of us ordered fish entrees, one of which was requested to be medium rare/juicy. all three fish dishes were overcooked, including the "medium rare" one which was so overcooked it was chewy and leathery. 2 of the orders were supposed to be crab encrusted salmon and instead came with a "crabcake" which was mostly breading plopped on the salmon. i wrote a note to the contact person on the restaurant website and politely said that altho we'd enjoyed the restaurant in the past, this dinner was not up to standards and never heard a word back from them. i think it's most disappointing to not get even a thank you for feedback or sorry the meal wasn't great. it feels like they don't care what the customer experience is. read more
