We have been visiting Gavi's since they made food on Broadway and Pantano many many years ago. Their menu is incredible and so much to choose from. They have a nice bar situated in the center back wall. The have an outdoor area as well but this time we ate inside. I made a reservation via OpenTable to celebrate my husbands birthday. I was surprised how busy they were this time in August on a Friday! Service was excellent, they had many specials not mentioned in their large menu, and server was prompt of providing our drinks, bread and food. Overall and excellent evening! Oh yes the food...scrumptious in every bite! Just delicious and the serving sizes are plenty!! Most have a portion to take home the next day. I had the special stuffed salmon, it was incredible and the side of vegetables were beautifully seasoned and fresh! Truly a gem in Tucson!

Made reservations for a party of 8 to spend some holiday time with friends. We were quickly seated at our reservation time in the middle of their peak dinner period. Our server, Manny, was exceptional. Probably the best server I've had in Tucson. Again, Manny was exceptional not just good. The restaurant is showing signs of tiredness and although this is part of their charm, some updating might want to be in the near future- especially in the restrooms. I've been to Piazza Gavi several times in the past and in all honesty, the food is really missing the mark. Given the prices they charge, there is definitely a need for improvement. I ordered the smoked salmon carpaccio (which was okay) and the seafood cioppino. Portions were both generous. The cioppino really missed the mark. It was as if I was eating a crawfish boil. That's what the broth tasted like. Overly salty and lacked depth of flavor, especially sweetness from fennel and tomatoes. Tasted more like Cajun seasoning. I liked that they were generous on the bread and didn't charge an auto gratuity for large parties. The rest of the party seamed to enjoy their food for the most part. I'm sure their reviews would be quite different.

Had date night here, a couple weeks back.. and will definitely be back! I made a reservation shortly before arriving and was able to sit within minutes upon arriving on a Friday night around 7PM. It was pretty busy, but still had room for more. It's very moody inside with darker more intimate lighting. Walking up, you see a very well beautiful covered patio to dine on. Inside their tables as well as boot for seating. The menu is large, including pastas, sandwiches, yummy looking salads, pizzas., etc. So there's a lot to choose from. I love that one choosing a pasta, you can also choose the noodle you want in it. I chose a Bolognese ($25) dish upon the service suggestion, and it was good, but I definitely chose the wrong noodle to go with it.. so if you're unsure, it's probably a good idea to ask the server which noodle would go best. We ordered the antipasto appetizer ($23) as well as the Salmon Carpaccio ($23). Both were still plentiful and definitely worth ordering again! They also serve free bread, which, if you ask me as a waste of food since it's served with cold bread and cold butter.. I don't understand my restaurants do this because how are we supposed to wipe this cold hard butter on this hard bread? Anyway, my husband ordered a lobster ravioli ($33), and though he felt it was salty I thought it was good. I definitely want to go back and try more of their menu !

We came here to celebrate a retirement. I'd called ahead a few days and they basically had to squeeze us in, as they were booked for that evening. They found a table for us indoors, in an area that was a little secluded from the main part. The only negative was that it was pretty noisy indoors, but it beat sitting on the patio on a warm night. We ordered the fried calamari, which was ok. (We got spoiled by the calamari we could get everywhere in Australia, so nothing here is quite as yummy!) Everyone enjoyed their meals, and we all got huge portions. We'll have another meal or two to enjoy another time. I had a dinner salad, which was good. For my meal, I ordered the Chicken Formaggio. It was two big pieces of tender chicken, stuffed with spinach and cheese, with shrimp and artichokes on top. It was all covered with a nice red sauce. It was supposed to come with a side of pasta, but they were happy to sub some mixed veggies for me. We even got a free bowl of ice cream for the retiree! Our waiter, Chris, was great. He got all our orders correct without even writing any of them down. We were able to relax and enjoy our evening. We also got some drinks and the mozzarella marinara during their happy hour before dinner. $3 off appetizers, wine and other drinks.

Went here with some friends on a packed Thursday night, the ambiance was wonderful and the service was quick once we were seated! I got the pumpkin ravioli in spicy crema and have been dreaming about it since- it seems like it's a seasonal special so everyone needs to GO THERE RIGHT NOW and try it!! I truly have never experienced anything like it and all my friends agreed we will be going back very soon and each of us is getting this amazing ravioli!

Had dinner with a couple of friends. The setting is nice but inside is a bit noisy, especially during happy hour. However, that said, the menu is huge with many choices as well as the specials which on the night we went included varieties of ravioli. I opted for the lobster ravioli that came in a lemon cream sauce that was delicious. It was a large portion as were the portions of my friends, We all ended up with food to take home for another meal The service throughout the meal was excellent. Our take home phone was prepared by the waiter in a styrofoam container wrapped in plastic wrap which was nice to protect it from spilling. I really enjoyed my meal and look forward to having it again for lunch tomorrow.

And while not pretentious it's hip and relaxed while being a place you want to dress up to go to. Every one of your senses will be delighted. The view, the smells, the food, the service, the hotel costes vibe lounge music playing in the backdrop to perfectly pair in creating a contemporary ambiance complimenting the whole environment. Great job. In a few weeks I've been 3 times. I've tried the caviar cones that are a burst and mirage of flavors that left me wanting to order a dozen. Delicious. The guacamole experience at first glance I had written off, but friends decided to order and I'm so glad they did. Delicious!!! The Chicharron and Tostones were out of this world in flavor definitely worth it. The Fig drink is amazing. The sunset vodka drink with ginger OMG! The Mandavi red is amazing, the port is delicious for an after dinner cap off as is the espresso martini. I love all their glassware and tableware. They use the right glasses for the right things. Service is attentive, they're around, but they're not pushing you to be out the door -which I love. Definitely more of an Italy dining experience where they want you to sit back and relax and take your time. I love that. Especially because the place is so beautiful. You don't wanna leave and the chairs are so comfortable that you don't want to get up. Back to the food, got the special which was pork with a cherry glaze and goat cheese, drizzle. To die for perfectly accompanied with the artichoke. The ahi tuna dinner entree was cooked perfectly and a beautiful presentation. The steak was perfectly cooked. Wasn't a big fan of the Potatoes au gratin but it presented beautifully- I'm just more of a classic when it comes to that dish and they had a unique take on it. The crème brûlée was good. I feel like it's a staple that you can't really make any more exceptional than a good crème brûlée is. The surprise was the brownie, which I would not have ordered but friends wanted to so I tried it. it was amazing. I love the presentation of how they serve it and the taste was absolutely unique perfection! They made something taste exceptionally different, even though it seems like it would be your usual brownie à la mode. It's got a unique flavor that I have a hard time describing besides I recommend you try it because it's absolutely delicious. I've decided that I will have to try everything on the menu at least once. Because some of the things that I immediately wrote off with the things that I love the most. So now I'm curious to try all of their menu items. They do have a way of making dishes very unique and all their own based on how they serve it or the way they have prepare it. The lighting and ambience is like no other restaurant in Tucson. This place is an event. Breathtaking in every regard. Sat outside all 3 times. Twice at tables and once at the sofa overlooking the 18th hole. Arrived between 630-730 all 3 times and was totally comfortable. I love Tucson's weather and sunsets and wore my sunglasses for 30 minutes one of the evenings while watching the sun set. I was unbothered by the Tucson heat- but this is one of the things I love most about living here. The misters with fans above the tables do a nice job of keeping it cool without you getting damp. If you're concerned for the heat, that's a good outdoor spot to sit. I'll have to try sitting indoors at some point but honestly, I prefer outside and away from A/C. Exceptional experience all the way around!

I may have never tasted anything more delicious. I took home more than enough for a fabulous lunch. The hub wasn't as thrilled. He's not that much of a seafood guy, enjoying ribs or steak previously, but he decided on the fish and chips for this outing. He's used to cod for battered fish and noted that hoki didn't hold together well, breaking into small pieces, some with breading and some without. The fish and the coating were under seasoned and bland. He wasn't happy with the fries, either. He expected regular fries as our server specified, but received shoestrings, some of which were overly crisp but the ones under the fish were soggy. He did praise the cole slaw. Although neither of us could finish our meal, we did order dessert. We shared the pecan caramel cheesecake and it was ridiculously delicious: smooth, tangy, and not too sweet. Just perfect. We managed to finish it and mentioned to the manager/owner? how good it was. He laughed and said no judging if we licked the plate. The ambiance of the dining room is elegance, almost vintage, and feels special. The restaurant was very busy, which I am thrilled to see, but quite noisy. We were so lucky to grab a parking space in the small front lot, because I have limited mobility. I would love a rail on either side of the small ramp because it is a little steep.

The first thing I need to own is that it's a shame I hadn't visited here before. We arrived at 5:30p and both the bar and patio areas were packed - standing room only, and no wonder. They have one of the better happy hours (daily! 3:00 - 6:30p) - able to accommodate both the slacker and the over-timer Lol. Basic drinks are all discounted such as house wines, well drinks, and beers. Their bottled wines and craft cocktails are all exempt though. Many of their appetizers are also discounted and some quite substantially. We grabbed a glass of the house cabernet ($6, normally $8) and the grilled shrimp wrapped in jalapeno bacon ($13, normally $20). NOTE: happy hour pricing is Only available if you order/consume at the bar or on the patio and that's clear in advance, and understandable. The dining areas were only half full at this early point (but filled up by 6:30) and the host kindly encouraged us to enjoy our starters at the bar as she would hold our table. We were then sat near the "back" of this long venue and frankly, aside from the lone windowed table at the very front, this would be my preferred seating - cozy, intimate, with only five other tables around us. For dinner drinks she got an Italian Nebbiolo Bricco Magno Red Blend ($13/glass, reliably terrific/mellow) and I got the Chupacabra ($15) Mezcal/prickly pear cocktail, strong and excellent as well. We got an additional appetizer: the roasted bone marrow ($19). I had never had marrow before but she raved about how good this can be if done properly (bonus, it is super healthy). Folks, a picture/worth a 1000... suffice to say this was simply outstanding! We both had long work weeks and were craving meat - just a damn good steak. Our waiter, without blinking recommended the 8oz bison filet mignon ($65) as his absolute menu fav, and then the day's special: 14oz ribeye ($50). We ordered each. All dinners come with two sides and we each got the day's special: roasted half artichoke and she got the loaded baked potato while I got the mashed potatoes. Food arrived about 15 minutes later at good temperature (warm/rested with a strong char) with each being accurately grilled (medium and medium-rare). Taste was outstanding. Neither one of us had bison filet before and marveled how it (subtly) added a "wild" edge to an always outstanding, lean-but-tender, cut of beef. The loaded baked was terrific, however, the mashed was the only disappointment... a plainer mash one could not make themselves - pure white and borderline dry, no milk, butter, egg, gravy(?), nothing to make it creamy or add any flavor dimension - a surprise frankly. The only other "critique" is that the dessert menu could add some kind of dark/chocolate concoction. All in all, though, we loved our experience and have decided to add this to our periodic special dinners rotation! Staff was outstanding - just the proper balance of attentive and quiet - and waters never went below half empty. Parking is free and plentiful, especially behind the restaurant (and yes, if you continue on around the back there is another long entrance/exit driveway that comes out the other side of Jimmy John's and Noodleholics.

I understand the head chef has a French influence, but frankly it overwhelms the food and takes away from the freshness. I had the snapper since they didn't have the halibut. Where they seemed to sit everyone coming into the restaurant. If the restaurant was packed I would understand but every other room was empty. Who wants to sit along the pathway to the bathroom? Service was so/so. Had to ask for drinks multiple times. But frankly the quality of the food was not worth the cost. Definitely will not be returning, until they revamp the menu to include less French style and more uniquely inspired fresh food. I mean if we wanted French we would have gone to Le Rendezvous or Wild Garlic which are top notch.
