I went here around 5:30 Saturday, a time when most restaurants are gearing up for the weekend crowd. Hadn't been here in quite some time but had a craving for their fried chicken. I noticed that the place was practically empty - not a good sign. I examined the food as I walked down the serving line and noted that most entrees looked like they'd been cooked hours before. Ugh. Got to where the fried chicken pan was, saw a few ancient pieces. I asked the guy behind the counter, got any chicken coming out? He seemed disinterested and mumbled, thighs and breasts. Didn't give me a time when those might arrive or any idea when the legs and wings might show up. No wonder the place is a veritable ghost town during prime time dining hours. Think I'll pass, I sez, and left. My, how this place has fallen. I don't see myself returning. Update - you'll see below a response to my review from a supposedly concerned Piccadilly employee. I called the number to speak to " Calli" as requested in the response. I was told: a) that response is a canned response; b) Calli doesn't even work at the office for which a phone number was provided; c) they would contact Calli to have her contact me, which she never did. Wish I could give a no-star review. Their response to my review was merely auto-generated to make it seem as though they care. They don't. First the good. The employees. They were the kindest, most patient, able to answer all my questions as they served. And the busser came around often to clear things. My mother wanted to come here since she kept saying she wanted a full meal, whatever that means, and welp, we got it. The place is pretty quiet even during the time we went which was late lunch, so around 1pm. The establishment is clean and still has that "vintage" in your Grandmama's house feel. The crowd was older but hey, it's Piccadilly so that's sort of the norm and expected. My food was ok. I got baked chicken and didn't realize she was going to put the half chicken and not the leg quarter on my plate. I wasn't asked and I didn't look on the glass where the labels were either to specify which I wanted. Not complaining in the end because it was more than enough for me to take home for later. The flavor of the chicken was delicious, tender, and fall of the bone. The okra was great too considering most places can't get okra right with its consistency and all. Now the macaroni was disappointing; the noodles were way too soft yet my mother ate all of her food and didn't have any complaints about anything other than she wishes there was Peach Cobbler instead of the Apple Cobbler which she didn't know until after it was placed on her tray. I ordered from here today and the food they sent me was horrible! I order the chopped steak dinner with a few sides and the entire order was spoiled. The chopped steak was still pink on the inside, the mashed potatoes tasted burnt, the broccoli cheese casserole smelled burnt/tasted old, the green beans were sour/spoiled, the broccoli & cheese was watered down, and the 4 rolls where old/hard as a rock! I loved Piccadilly as a child when I would visit often with my Mom and Cousin on Saturday trips to the Augusta Mall, and this recent visit was a sheer reminder of that. I love me a good cafeteria with delicious Southern delights. I got the fried catfish, grilled vegetables, cabbage, mac and cheese, and cornbread muffin. I had to get a slice of the red velvet cake, but I couldn't finish it all. I took the rest of it home. The food is good, traditional Southern Cafeteria food which is reasonably priced and some of the favorites. They do have takeout and dine-in. I dine-in in a socially distances way, and they have labeling on the tables to ensure which ones to skip. They have a large dining room. My sisters and I were reminiscing about going to Piccadilly with my parents when we were young. So, since I had to be in the area I decided to drop in for a bite to eat. The outside and lobby area were clean. They had a nice little crowd at 1:30pm. Checking what they had to offer I saw a lot of the old favorites, fried chicken and roast beef. I was torn about which to get until I saw they had beef liver with onions. I got that since I rarely get a chance to indulge in that particular item. I really like that it is sliced thin and fried just right. They did not have any onions so I had to wait. Once they were ready they were not sautéed enough for my liking. When I got home sautéed them a little more to get just right. On to the sides. They had a good selection and I really wanted the rutabagas, but thought to ask how they were cooked. I don't eat pork, so happy I checked, because they use a pork flavoring. They use it in the turnips and pinto beans, pretty much everything I wanted. So, I decided on mashed potatoes and cabbage. I got the sweet tea to finish up my meal. Everything was really good! I miss having a Piccadilly closer to where I live. I always stop at this location when I am in Marietta. Piccadilly Cafeteria is a chain of Southern cafeteria-style restaurants in the South. I've eaten lunch at this location in Marietta a few times. When I was in school at Georgia Tech, I'd eaten at the one on Howell Mill multiple times. Piccadilly reminds me of the cafeterias I ate at in my hometown of High Point, NC -- K&W Cafeteria and J&S Cafeteria. Marietta Piccadilly is located on Cobb Parkway, just south of the South Marietta Parkway (120 Loop) intersection. If you've never been to one of these cafeterias before, all of the food is pre-made and ready to serve on an ordering line. You let the servers know what plates you want and they hand it over to you. Stuck on the display glass are descriptions and prices of meals you can purchase (e.g. meat and two and bread). If you don't order a meal, each plate is charged individually. Your tray is rung up at the end of the line, but you don't pay until you leave the restaurant. There are servers, but they don't serve you food (since you grabbed it yourself). Instead, they do things like help put up trays, refill drinks, and get you any condiments such as hot sauce or honey mustard. On my most recent visit, I came for a Friday lunch with coworkers. I had the Southern Fried Fish "Dilly Dish" for $7.79. It came with two pieces of fried fish (catfish), two sides, and bread. I chose fried okra and Piccadilly's signature carrot souffle as my sides. For bread, I chose garlic bread. Bread-wise, they also have regular rolls, jalapeno bread, etc. For a Friday lunch, the restaurant seemed decently busy. The ordering line flowed well. The line was well-staffed, well-stocked, and everything looked fresh and appetizing... by cafeteria standards. In my experience, the folks who work at cafeterias, no matter which cafeteria and which location, are stern and loud when asking customers for their orders. It's probably because the staff deals with a lot of slow/elderly folks. I suspect this place is busiest around 5 or 6pm, when they're going for their "early bird" dinners. The Southern Fried Fish is one of Picadilly's tried-and-true classics. The fillets are thin and crispy, but meaty enough to keep you satisfied. I like having my fried fish with tartar sauce. Two fillets is usually good enough for me. You can get three, but it gets too greasy for me at that point and I usually start feeling sick. Both the fried okra and carrot souffle were good. The fried okra here is not greasy. Most Southern joints deep-fry their okra so it's just glistening and almost dripping in oil. Fortunately, not here. Their okra almost reminds me of frozen fried okra that you reheat. The okra are uniformly round and crispy. The carrot souffle can easily be confused with sweet potato souffle. It looks and tastes like the same thing. Sweet and tasty. It's such a popular side that Piccadilly offers large orders of it to-go for family dinners and events. The garlic bread was crisp and flavorful. Another good side to order is the mac and cheese. It's standard, cheesy mac and cheese. It's not too greasy either. The staff seems very friendly. It must be the Southern hospitality. Be sure to remember the name of your server upon check-out, so you can leave a tip. read more

Piccadilly brings back childhood memories, but this one was not a pleasant experience. I ordered the fried fish plate with fried okra and turnips. My guest ordered the fried chicken (breast and wing) with Mac n cheese and cabbage. The food was COLD. The only thing that was hot was my fried okra because they made it fresh when I ordered. I hate coming here simply bc they are so incredibly UNFRIENDLY! My family likes eating the carrot souflè as a side for Thanksgiving dinner. I ordered last year through catering like I do every year...(last year was also a disaster...at this same location) anyway, I've called and called and called obnoxiously so, to place my order but they would not pick up. So I was forced to drive here and the cashier acted like I was such a huge inconvenience and pointed me to go over there and there's only one manager here. Piccadilly has been around for what seems like centuries. The customer base seems to be senior citizens. Everyone knows there names and the food is probably close to what they would normally make a home. It's just my assumption. I haven't asked a senior regarding this. The next group that caters to this place a lot is the military. On Sunday it is crowed with military patrons. More than likely they are from Dobbins Air force base. Piccadilly has been in the need of a face lift. It is dark and gloomy inside. It could use some brighter colors and happier music in the dining area. It reminds me of a hospital cafeteria. The food is ok. I will get the same exact thing each time I've eaten there. I will get a veggie plate, with corn, green beans, carrots. The other dish I'll get sometimes is baked fish, carrot shuffle and broccoli. It's never too spicy or salty. I've never eaten anything greasy there. It's the closet thing to healthy and quick when I have a taste for eating out. Many of their restaurants have gone out of business. I use to frequent one at Town Center Mall in Kennesaw, GA. it went out of business. I would have thought the mall would have had a strong presence. The staff is very nice and make me feel at home. Many of them I recognize back when my kids were actually children. They are grown people now. Piccadilly has a score of 89-B currently. I never stopped to see the reason for the B. Having heard so much good and bad about this place I decided to break down and spend a few dollars on myself today and try them out as it is also one of my New Year resolutions to try other places than just the Dollar Menu...got to be frugal. Piccadilly was very quite as it was about 3:30 on Friday afternoon. The line was not long at all maybe 3 people ahead of me. The lady behind the counter was very polite in her greeting and as well as her recomendations without being pushy..I hate when that happens. I choose the 10 oz Angus hamburger steak with extra gravy, mash potatoes, broccolli cassorole, and jalapeno cornbread. The total was $10 which is not bad considering what your getting and plus a decent burger and fry meal will run you between 8-9 dollars these days. The lady who rang me up was nice as well. Very sexy. I sat near the middle of the cafeteria. The service was near non-exitant as I was only asked if I was "ok" only once, mean while the other "older" patron couples were caterted to. No problemI as like to eat in peace with out being bothered every 5 mins and besides maybe these people were regulars...? The food was on Point!!! The Steak was very tender and juicy and the gravy complimented it very well. The mash potatoes were good and hot. The brocolli cassorole was a little on the salty side but was still enjoyable. The only down side to the entire meal was that the Jalapeno cornbread was cold. Not ice cold, but it took away from the overall experience of the meal. Cafeteria style. The pricing is driven by the meat choice. For example, 3 chicken tenders and 2 side items will be $5.99, but Fried chicken (breast and wing) with 2 sides is $7.99. Hubby had the salmon patty platter. lol It was $5.99 and hardly worth it. The salmon patty itself was okay, but heavily breaded. He chose the hush puppies for his bread and it was not that great. The mashed potatoes and gravy were okay, but the mac and cheese were horrible. There were hardly any real cheese in it - it was really just macaroni in what seems to be flour paste - it had no taste at all. I had the fried chicken platter and the chicken was very good. I had mashed potatoes also, but my other side is Lima beans - which was okay. I had the jalapeno cornbread, and it was dry, and I really didn't dig the flavor of it. The building smells musty, and it is obviously quite old. The decor is very outdated.The service, mediocre at best. All in all, it is borderline acceptable. I decided to give Piccadilly's another try after my experience at another location on Saturday night. I have been to this local several times before and just like the other times I was pleased. I walked right in and didn't have to wait in line at all. There were people in line but the workers had everything moving smoothly. I tried the Parmesan Crusted Fish since it had come hot from the kitchen and it was so delicious!!! I thought I was going to need some tartar sauce but I didn't need it at all! It was very crispy and every bite had a crunch. The Parmesan crust added a zesty flavor and the fish was very flaky. Her name is Miss Judy, she said she's been working here 8 years, loves her job, and she's not going anywhere! The fact that she loves her job is simply EVIDENT in her AMAZINGLY OUTSTANDING service. Never before have we had a bad experience with Piccadilly until yesterday. Three of us went there yesterday, as we all have medical problem we had the waitress carry our trays to the table. She was really paying attention to what she was doing and knocked the water glass over getting in the food. She replaced the turkey dish etc, but when it came to the dessert it was the last piece of chocolate pie. The lady with really wanted the chocolate pie. She did get another piece of pie, which she had to pay for. WHY? It was the waitresses fault. She didn't even say she was sorry or even offer to pay for it. read more

I came here after placing an online order. My sister and I walked in and went to the designated area for pick up. We were never greeted. A man, I'm assuming was the manager, walked by many times watching my sister and I stand there and never said a thing. Finally, after seeing people that walked in after us finishing before us, my sister asked the cashier about our order. Finally, a waitress that was working the dining area acknowledged that she had seen us waiting for a long time and asked us if we had been helped and what we had ordered. She then went and made our orders. I was so thankful for her and the cashier for their help. Needless to say, I will not be ordering online again. Been meeting with our group North Atlanta Business Association here for over 15 years every Thursday in their meeting room. Guess management does not want our business anymore. Whenever they get a bigger group, we get bumped to main dining room with no prior notice. Not very conducive for good business and very poor decision on their part. What can you say about this place, been around for years and it shows. First, I have eaten at these style of places for years, use to frequent the places all the time in the 1960', 70's and 80's. Always thought they were okay food for an okay price. I haven't eaten there much lately because they are simply not near me. Well, I found myself looking for lunch in Marietta today and saw this place. My memories made me go in. My memories of today's visit will keep me out for good. NEVER AGAIN. The food was not attractive at all. Most of the meats looked like frozen entrees that had been re-heated and the vegetables appeared to be left over from the last time I had eaten in a Piccadilly. In a word, the vegetables were "mush", cooked beyond anything other than basically soup, with the exception of the powdered mash potatoes that were dry and tasteless. I became more concerned when I had to a glass to the side because it had vegetable stuck to it. I made my selection and sat down in the dining area to eat and the first thing I noticed was an audible snap when I pulled the try from the table. The table was so sticky the everything stuck to it. The tray, the plates even the napkins. The waitress was kind enough to provide additional napkins so I was able to use the top one and left the others stuck to the table top. I touched the table to test the stickiness and let me tell you, I thought whatever was on the table could be used to attach the heat shields to the space shuttle. It was awful. We chokes down our meal and as we went to pay, I tested the stickiness of a few other tables. All were equally disgusting. We paid our bill and left. I knew then why a cafeteria was practically empty at lunch. This place is the pits. A fond memory of my youth was now itched into my mind as a place on a fast downhill slide. Each dish was delicious as usual. But the butter beans were amazing. They reminded of the butter beans my mom and grandmother cooked when I was growing up.
