I've been going to P&P's for 6 years... pulled parts for a dozen different cars (mine and friends') from almost all of the Bay Area & Sacramento P&P sites. The employees are usually reasonably polite, but this is the mechanics world, they're a BUDGET/DIY company and they have to deal with some knuckleheads customers that come through sometimes. I've had good experiences at every other site. This visit, and specifically one employee utterly ruined this site's reputation. I had been looking for a few specific body parts in a specific color for a vehicle I'm repairing. I went to row52.com, searched their inventory at sites within 250 miles. Set alerts for when they receive new vehicles. This site received the one I was looking for so I drove the 1 1/2 hours to the site. Signed the waiver, paid my four bux, walked to the row and found the vehicle, with the parts I wanted still attached. I went to go get my tools from my vehicle in the parking lot, asked for a hand stamp to get back in and the employee asks me if I have a Toolkit Membership. I asked why, he said you need to have one to get a stamp. I replied, no I don't. He started to argue, saying it's "corporate policy" and raising his voice sternly to me. I gave him my phone number for my membership, he pulls up my account and RELUCTANTLY gave me a hand stamp. I grabbed my tool bag, went back in to the front counter behind several other customers. I waited patiently as he checked EVERY tool bag of EVERY customer, coming in and going out (normally the employees only check coming out). Other sites I could have just caught the employee's attention, flashed my stamp and they'd wave me through, I wouldn't even have to stop at the counter. I waited, put my tool bag (drill, socket set case, screw drivers, trim pry tools, etc) on the counter and he proceeded to check EVERY crevice of my bag, opening my socket case, and driver bit case, stopping to check if every bit and every socket were in the right place. He then OK'd me to go back in the yard to the vehicle. 2 1/12 hours later after pulling the parts I wanted, I hauled it all inside to the front counter to pay. I again waited patiently while this employee and a 2nd employee checked people in and out. When it was my turn this employee totaled up what I was buying and charged me for EVERY little item... for example, I bought a bumper cover with a built in grill, emblem, fog lights. Normally they might charge me for the bumper cover and fog lights. This guy charged me for EVERYTHING he thought he could get away with. I just wanted to pay and take what I came for. This guy is gestapo-level jerk. I thought it was just me he was targeting (he's MX, I'm white), then I saw him talk to a MX customer like an A-hole. This guy might have been having a bad day, but none of his coworkers or manager were helping him with that. If he were my employee I would have written him up with a stern warning warning. Any pushback from him and I would have fired him on the spot. This was a shocking experience for me as I've never been treated like this at ANY other P&P site let alone any other recycling yard. P&P Corporate would do well to deal with this employee (I didn't see a name tag) before this employee gets hurt by customers. Yes, it was that bad. I'm willing to concede there may be other factors going on at this site (customers pulling shady stuff, etc) but it seemed to be just this employee. Terrible customer service, the sad excuse of an employee charged me for every little thing. For example I bought a bumper with the turn signals and the employee charged me about 25 PER turn signal when i could've just bought both on ebay for 25. Not only that but he wasn't speaking loud enough to hear and gave me an attitude. I would've asked a manager for help but I'm sure by the way he runs the place he wouldn't be much help. I usually understand people have bad days but it seems that this is a regular occurrence in this yard which is disappointing since it used be a decent place to get parts, now they just charge an arm and a leg for parts that should be a lot cheaper and have horrible customer service. Retired my car here through the CAP program and it was easy and painless. Took about 15 minutes to do the paperwork and then you get a check right there. Everyone was super nice, I'd retire a car here again (though hopefully won't need to for some time). read more

There is Not very friendly employees at this location. I located a vehicle that I need parts for on their website. I entered the yard and located the vehicle which already had the engine missing. You would think they would update the photos so its not misleading. My wife requested a refund since we were only in the yard for approximatley 5 min and the manager said No. Not a good experience. read more

Was on a mission to obtain a tire and rim preferably a spare tire non aluminum (they are more expensive I guess). You sign in basically saying if you get hurt pulling and not being safe it's on you. Pay a few bucks and head on back in probably the largest scavenger hunt you can do for car parts. I will say they do have car makers marked with signs such as Ford, Chrysler, small trucks and Vans etc. did make it easier to figure what we were after. We found a nice spare on the underside of a onced upon a time SUV. They do have wheelbarrow type things for large parts instead of attempting to carry it back to the entrance to cash out. Lucky for us a tire rolls. It was a bit dirty but we got it to the front cashed out. They do accept cash and card. Don't wear nice clothes (was a last minute stop for us). And must have closed toe shoes for obvious reasons you're in a junk yard. I didn't see any nails but doesn't mean they weren't there. Safety first. But definitely a place to check out if you're needing a replacement something for your car and can do it yourself read more

Pathetic. Wife and I received a letter from BAAQMD, offering us $1200 if we turned in our 1996 Mercedes. We arrived in Windsor, their designated location, at 10:10. There was no one in line in front of us. The Pick n Pull employee completing necessary paperwork admittedly to us fouled-up multiple times, to the point where wife and I, three hours later, drove home with our car. The employee admitted this problem had occurred before, but with a different employee. Either the employee or manager should be fired for not knowing or not properly training how to do their job. Three wasted hours, not counting drive time to/from Petaluma, and the cost of gas. Our gut feeling is this was a scam. Extremely poorly run operation. We'll donate our car to Polly Klass instead of waiting longer, when after three hours the employee stated, "I have no idea how long this will take." read more

Cool place, don't mind the small entry charge - I assume it's so that people who pocket small items still make them some money. I've seen/watched people do it :'( Great source of parts for common vehicles. Have got many parts for GM full-size trucks and SUVs. Now I need a header panel and grille for my Ford Crown Vic. Last time I went the section where all those cars were it was a bit muddy due to recent rains, though, so I might wait a bit. read more

Car recycling process is painfully slow. One agent does everything and is very slow. Towed in vehicles get priority, so the agent is constantly diverted from private auto recycle customers. Be prepared for a 3-4hr process. Once its your turn it takes 30-60min. read more

Broil said the jalopy needed parts, so to the Pick-N-Pull we went. Cover charge is $2 dollars folks. $2 dollars ain't gonna kill you if you find even one part or usable item worth your time. This was my first experience at a junk yard. Though this is a yard for car parts. They have lots of different models of cars in their yard. All cars are separated by type and then by domestic or import. There are a ton of domestic cars here which during the day we were here, there were very few people that picked through those. Most of the people we came across were looking at the European models, trucks and a few at different racer class vehicles. The cars here have been through all kinds of situations and at some point were junked. Something which most would perceive when looking at these cars is that its.. just that, junk right? Spend a bit of time looking at any of the photos I've posted and allow your mind to run free. There are many applications these parts could go for. When people talk about recycling, reusing and so on, I think many would never think to be in a yard like this. Rather going back to their auto dealership and buying a brand new part made of the same grain and pay an exhausting amount of money for. Lately I'm seeing California in a whole new light. There are far more people in the state of Ca that look to rebuild cars and run them for decades beyond their lives, than in most other states. About the photos I took. Right away I found a couple cars that had decent dashboards that could have worked well in the beater. A few cars had decent leather seats. Gear knobs, hub caps, vent covers and then engine parts galore. At a junkyard you take what you can carry and you can remove on your own. So bring tools. I learned a lot from watching some of the folks in here. 1) rain boots, boots or knee high boots are a must. I wore sneakers, not the best idea. Right now it's rain season in Cali and sneakers didn't cut it in this graveled lot. Many pools and muddy areas I trekked through. 2) wear clothes you don't mind getting dirty. You will get dirty. 3) wear some old overalls or wear a pair of old jeans or pants over your regular wear. Oil and wet areas are abundant here. 4) a tool box is helpful, rags and other essentials. Some guys might even bring an auto dolly, that surfboard thing with wheels people lay on to move around under a car. 5) flashlight, to see the hard to reach areas in an engine. Repeat, bring the right tools. Bringing the wrong ones can jack up a decent working part so that the next fella can't remove or take it. The yard allows usage of their carts for free. You've got to use a bit of muscle to get these going. Lift and push, you'll feel the burn in your arms the next day. Something I didn't think of till I saw it in their "showroom"; miscellaneous items left behind. What's that? These are items which would have arrived in the cars as they were unloaded onto the lot. Which means some of these are totaled cars coming right from crashes or insurance garage lots. They have a small area where they sell many of these items. Such as computer printers, VHS tapes, DVDs, posters, plants, random furniture and more. Strange oddities is what it appears to be when I think of it. Most of these items are marked grossly down. DVDs for as low as fifty cents with their cover! (Sometimes). With the purchase we had the other day it happened to be a special sale day for the Thanksgiving holiday. A cart of engine parts we got at half price and paid a little less than fifty bucks! How cool is that. Engine parts which had we purchased new would cost in the hundreds of dollars. I tried to donate a car and seeing I was a half hour from the car which was at a shop in santa rosa. The driver lied and said he couldn't reach me because he didn't want to wait for me to get there. The shop told me about Creams dismantlers and I called them and they couldn't have been nicer and they gave me $100 of which I donated to the people I wanted to get the money. I have been to this pick n pull many times before and have never had an issue with service, however, that changed a few days ago when I went to buy a couple of tires. I found two tires, one with a decent amount of tread, and one that was poor, but was the only other tire in the size that I needed. Two yellow signs posted above the tires clearly stated the price. Any tire under 20in rim was 20. 20inch rims and above were $25 and up. I had 2 sixteen inch tires, so I expected to pay the posted price of $20 a piece. This was also the over the phone quote that I had received prior to going in. When I got to the counter, Angel, the sales person, who also claimed to be the manager, told me the tires were 22.99 each. When I told her that I had been quoted something different over the phone, her response was to raise her voice and say, louder this time, "22.99 each" I then pointed out that the sign posted above the tires also indicated that they were $20 each. Again, and even louder this time she said 22.99 each and that's not changing". I told her I really didn't have a problem with paying 22.99 for each tire, I just had a problem with the fact that I was quoted a lesser price in the phone and that their posted price was not being honoered. She then rolled her eyes and YELLED, $45.98 plus tax, take it or leave it. I asked if there was a manager there that I cou ok d speak with, she yelled again, "You're looking at her". Wow. Really??? I asked her babe and she said Angel Montgomery. I got home and was really irked by the way I was treated by Angel. She was certainly no Angel. I tried to find a Corporate number for PicknPull. Somehow I ended up speaking with a Supervisor at CashForCars. He informed me that there really was no one to refer me to regarding my concern and he suggested that I fill out a customer survey online. So I was treated very poorly by a sore manager and now I'm being told to complete an online survey to express my concern. I'm really dissappointed. I'll be back because I have found value in the service they offer for reasonable prices, but I will always have a very tainted view about the lack of professionalism, the incredible rudeness, and the ignorance shown by the store manager, Angel. This was my first time at this Pick-n-pull, and the customer service here is extremely lacking. I have spent many years in the customer service and restaurant industries. This pick-n-pull requires a mask upon entering the building to pay your $2 fee, before entering the car yard. Upon arriving at the door we were yelled at to put a mask on. We later noticed that this was a trend and upset other customers. I think the message would have been better received if folks were politely asked to put masks on. However, the worst part of this experience was on our way out. We walked back into the building to checkout and were not acknowledged by either employee at the checkstands. Instead, they both continued to check people into the building and collect the $2 fees. I finally asked if we were in the correct spot to checkout and one of the employees said, with attitude, "yes, but he is supposed to check you out on that side. I'm checking people on over here. That's why I'm ignoring you". In my experience, the polite thing to do would be to acknowledge that the customer is there and let them know you, or your coworker, will be with them shortly. This was blatantly rude and the complete opposite of good customer service. read more

I came here with high hopes to replace my 1997 Nissan Maximas front grill which fell off while driving a couple months ago. I had checked online to make sure ahead of time that they had my car in stock and lucky for me they did! Yippee. When we got there we paid four dollars total to get in. Only once we got in we realized one of the two nissans was missing the front grill as well. The other Nissan was in gold and mine car is navy. Meaning the grill wouldn't match. I then checked the price of a grill to see it would be 26 dollars. A quick eBay search brought me to brand new matching grills for under twenty. I left empty handed and four dollars less rich. I can see how this place could be extremely cost effective as far as bigger projects go. Next time I'll make sure to check the web first for simpler items. read more

I've now been to four Pick-N-Pulls (Fairfield, Richmond, Oakland, and this one). This one did something none of the others had ever done - the guy who stamped my hand asked me what car I was looking for, and then looked it up in the computer to see if they had one in the yard. No other PnP ever mentioned they could do this. It was like suddenly looking right into the Ark of the Covenant. They didn't have my car that day, but props for the extra customer service! I have been frequenting this place since my youth. I usually find what I need at a good price. Today I sold them my Dads broke down truck. They made it very easy. They scheduled to have the truck picked up and we went to the yard to pick up the check with no hassle. (you can also have the check mailed). They offered $60 more than the local competitor. Do your research before you go, they offer a web site that provides a list of available cars. Also find out the part number and search for a cross reference to other vehicles. (I found the heater/AC blower motor I needed for my 92 integra in a 93 civic). Happy pulling :) read more

I called and and was placed on hold twice for about an hr! Yes! The part I needed was important and worth the wait. Sadly, they never picked up. This is the most terrible Pick-N-Pull or Junk Yard I have ever been to. -The stuck up broads at the front desk need a serious attitude adjustment for one. -They do not make good on returns if you don't have both a receipt AND a mark on the part your returning even if you bought it 5 minutes before and haven't left there parking lot(No I am not kidding). -Very few if any parts are priced reasonably. -Forget trying to sell them your junk vehicle, they won't pay you even half the scrap value, nor do they deserve the vehicle. ****5 or 6 years ago I had a 97 Chevy 1500 that I sold them for $400 bucks. which was reasonable because I got in an accident that bent & split an area of the frame, the engine was toast before the accident, I kept the rims, tires, and randomly the exhaust including catalyst converter. I thought $400 was pretty decent. About a year maybe 2 years ago I called and got a quote for a 1990 f150 that looked terrible on the outside but had 80k original miles on it, 2 month of tires but I couldn't figure out what was causing it to not pass smog and I had another vehicle lined up so I needed the money ASAP. Well that didn't happen because they quoted me a whopping $72 which is insulting to say the least.**** Save yourself the trouble, stress, and time and don't do business with these ungrateful and disrespectful maggots. read more

Been to this pick n pull many times over the last couple months had a pretty good experience until today. The manager lady younger gal, husky, dark skinned, so rude to me and every other customer in line I couldn't believe it, it hurt me to watch how rude she was to all the people In front of me I thought she was a racist because they were all latino. No she just hates her job & hates people. I returned 2 seats that didn't fit my vehicle because they were a year different. 42.99 each I received store credit. Found the seats i was looking for almost exact same, just a year different she somehow stacked on an extra $50 for the tracks and the seatbelt clips?? And yelled at me in front of a bunch of people that "THE CASHIER CHARGED ME WRONG THE FIRST TIME!!!" Ok I get it but damn do you have to be so mean, raise your voice, & make me look like a fool?? I had bought a $27. Light Control Module and paid an extra buck or so for returns rights, the marked the LCM. After trying the part and it not working properly. I called to find out if I could return the part even though I had lost the receipt. I called and there was no answer several times. I had talked to their Sacramento Office and they could not tell me how to reach them. Without being able to reach them I drove 30 minutes up to Windsor where I talked to the "manager" and she said I could not return it without the receipt. I told her I had been a customer for 20 years and tried to call with no answer and also drove a long distance because of that. She would not even give me a credit. I then called the corporate office who said that they would have a manager contact me which he did but when I returned his call he never called back. I'd suggect that if you need electrical parts you go elsewhere, eBay or other used or new part options. The reason that I am giving a 1 star rating is because they either don't answer the phones or they have had broken phones for months now (admittedly). They should take a customer number for returns so they can track purchases as well. receipts are old school. All parts stores take phone numbers for returns. easy. Felicia was great and made the process a lot faster than I had anticipated. She was super fun and in the short time I was there got four different compliments from other customers that were there to Retire their Vehicles with the CAP program on her customer serivce.
