I came here for the first today because I was craving Filipino food and this place was close to work. This place is awesome! When I walked in and looked confused, the lady who worked here asked if it was my first time and explained everything to me. On most days I believe (at least during lunchtime), it's like a salad bar. You grab a plate and get what you want, then you weigh the food and pay for it. The prices are surprisingly cheap and delicious! I was pretty satisfied with about $10 worth of food (I'm a big guy). Living in Inglewood, this hole-in-the-wall has been my go to Filipino food spot for the last couple of years (found it by chance when looking up the closest Filipino food in the area when I first moved here). Lovely little kitchen and cafeteria-style buffet for home-cooked Filipino food. If you can swing it, stop by on Thursday for their lechon. Oh my gosh, delicious! I'm salivating just thinking of it. A pound will give you huge chunks of succulent meat and skins that are crispy enough to be classified as meat candy. It is very rich and fatty so get some pancit or rice to sop up some of the juices that burst forth. The little side of gravy you get on the side is unlike anything you'll get anywhere else and complements the pork so well. The pork adobo and kare kare sound delicious as well, but that pound of roasted pork was more than enough for me on this visit. Came here with a few coworkers for lunch a few days ago. Wow! Definitely a hidden gem. My parents live a city over, and when we want filipino food, we usually go to Carson. I'm so glad I was brought here. You would never know it's a filipino restaurant just by driving by. It's a small spot with cafeteria style serving. The lady who helped was super nice and patient. I had to try a little bit of everything. I got the combo plate with pansit and rice. My ulam was longanisa (sweet sausage), chicken adobo, beef rib caldareta, and torta talong. They even gave me a small bowl of sinigang sabaw (soup). Also, that day was unlimited refills of their ice tea or mango tea with the drink purchase. Everything was delicious. I told them it was so nice to find something close by and that I'd have to bring my parents here one day. My coworkers and I were all stuffed. I even went back to purchase 1lb each of the chicken adobo and caldareta for the hubby. They come with smiles and ask what you would like and make sure you are happy with what you ordered during and after the meal. Reminds me of going to grandma's house and she cooks so much food and makes sure everyone eats well and really enjoys the meal. That's what it felt like. Flavor is there 100%. Fresh and tasty and everything made to order if you get it off the menu. They have a buffet as well. We didn't try that so I can't pass judgment on it. The only problem is that it closes too early for us. I went with my teenage son, a picky eater, and he loved it and much prefers it to the newer, more western type of Filipino food. The grandma who is in charge made sure my son had enough to eat, kept bringing him more when he was finished. I love this place! It's small, but their turo-turo delicacies are delicious and truly authentic. It tastes just like how it does back home in the Philippines! The owner/hostess is very sweet and always greets her clientele. She always chats with me and my husband whenever we come in, and she tries to make sure we feel at home. The food here is legit--her specialties are the lechong kawali, crispy pata, and pinakbet with bagnet. I tried those during her dinner hours and the portions were huge! She also makes a pretty mean pork sisig for lunch, which I love; and the adobo fried rice is always on point. My gringo husband likes her dinuguan, and I say it's pretty solid, too, with a little bit more spice added. I tried the binagoongan today, but the meat was sadly a bit too dry for my Bisaya taste. I was hoping the pork would be juicier and the bagoong more pungent & flavorful, but that's okay. There were more dishes to enjoy. And I understand that food served on the buffet need to satisfy most of the clientele's discerning palate, and not just mine. I'll definitely come back and hope to find Bicol Express on the menu next time. Overall, this place is my go-to restaurant for satisfying my Filipino food cravings. This food is so good! I'm no Filipino food expert, but I know good food and this is good food. I found this restaurant because I was looking to cater a party that I had and I was tired of pizza, chicken, and salad. I called them and the first thing she says was sure! We can do whatever you want. We can set up a tasting, but you can also come in and try the lunch buffet. So, I found out that they are 5 min away from my job, so the next day I was up there. OMG, the food was amazing. After I got my food, she grabbed her notepad and sat down with me to plan out my menu while I ate. She was very nice and welcoming. I couldn't decide on the Chicken Teriyaki or BBQ Chicken, since they only had the chicken teriyaki, she told me to come back the next day and she would have some there. Well, I invited my friend to come with me, but she had meetings and we couldn't leave till 1pm... guess what, the BBQ Chicken was gone! So, I went back the day after that and it was a Thursday so she had the roasted pork and Filet Mignon... I thought I got there early so I can catch the BBQ chicken before it's gone, um, NOPE! The line was out the door at 11:30! So I called her later that day and I said, let me get the BBQ chicken because it MUST be good (and it was)! I ordered a full pan of BBQ chicken, veggie pancit, and adobo chicken rice and it came out to less than $200. I had about 50 people and I had so many leftovers people took food home! Everyone loved it! Another note about the customer service: she was having her kitchen cleaned on the same day that my party was, because of this, she wasn't able to give me the veggie lumpia I wanted so she offered me some pork lumpia for free! Although, in the end, I couldn't get the lumpia because the cleaning crew took out the gas line, but the gesture was very nice. I discovered this restaurant recently and I've gone there three times in only 2 weeks. Their foods are fresh and tasty. My favorites are their spaghetti, beef with mushroom, Kare-Kare and all their vegetable dishes. My son loves their spaghetti because it cheesy and has lots of meat. Their beef is tender, tasty but not salty. Their Kare-Kare is a must try and my husband loves their chicken barbeque. Food reminds me of home cooked meals and their servings are huge for their price! The owner, Claire, told me they also accept special orders in case people prefer to have something not on the daily menu. From what the owner told us, they used to specialize in banquet/catering but had to refund a lot of events due to covid-19. I wish a lot of people would support small businesses like Pick your Plate.
