My usual place was closed down until November so I thought I would give this place a shot and it did not disappoint! I got lumpia catered here and a tocsilog bowl which were both very good! I liked that they made my egg fresh right when I ordered it rather than leaving it out. The lady (who I think is the owner?) was also very friendly over the phone and in person :) There is also lots of seating, snacks and of course patis and suka available for your tocino! Husband and I were driving on Hawthorne Blvd. when we passed this restaurant in a strip mall. I quickly checked for reviews on Yelp and decided to stop in for lunch. There was a sign outside with combo bowls listed and we also saw a more extensive menu inside. The prepared foods were displayed cafeteria style and I asked another customer for recommendations. I heard her order the pork adobo bowl and asked her how it was. She said it was really good, so we ended getting one too. We also ordered the pork skewers and pork lechon combo. Just picked up food to go and had such a pleasant initial experience. Inside was simple yet charming. Service was friendly and warm. Oh my goodness this spot was a treat! The worker was so nice in offering recommendations and letting me sample a few items. I ended up with a 2 item combo with the pork adobo and a lentil dish that I didn't catch the name of. Both were amazingly delicious. It was served with 2 scoops of white rice, I did see garlic rice but didn't think to ask for it so that's on the list for next time. The reason I say good and not great is because there was more fat in the meat than what I'm used to having in my meal. The flavors in the food were great. On top of there being more fat than what I'm used to, they had ran out of some food items i would have loved to have ordered. Keep in mind it was 4:30pm when we got there, but still this place didn't close for another 2 1/2 hours. They could've made more and I'm sure before closing time they would have already ran out of it. Gor these reasons I give them 4 stars. Oh! also, their pancit looked hella dried. Pork Belly on Hawthorne Blvd is a straight-up gem. The kare kare was rich, nutty, and full of that comfort-food depth that makes you want to keep dipping just one more bite of rice. The egg rolls came out crispy, golden, and packed with flavor--zero grease bombs here, just crunchy perfection. And the lechon? Tender, juicy, with that perfect crackly skin that makes you stop mid-bite just to appreciate it. The vibe is casual but the food comes out with serious heart. This place surprised me! The plaza doesn't look great but when you walk in, the interior is clean and tidy. The food was surprisingly better than I expected. Home cook feel but not as greasy as your typical filipino "point-point". We ordered and shared pork adobo, chicken adobo, sisig, pancit, a stew of some kind, and a spicy coconut curry dish. Coming from a person who has only had lumpia and pancit a handful of times (from friends) that I enjoyed. I'm afraid to say I was not a fan after eating from here. I have lived a few blocks from here for years and was always curious to try it. I ordered two of the two item combos and chose pork adobo and pancit on both (was playing it safe). The combos are about $15 each and aren't big portions. I also ordered 2 bbq pork skewers and 6 lumpia. Everything tasted old like it had been sitting there all day. I did go an hour before closing so I don't know if that's part of the reason. The lumpia was 60 cents a piece and smaller than my pinky! I'm very picky when it comes to pork and the adobo was too porky if that makes any sense. The skewers were also dry. Overall I don't know if it's me or the place but I won't be having it again. The parking lot is super tiny so finding parking can be difficult. The employees were kind and helpful. Seems the place is loved by the Filipino community so I think it just might be me guys. read more

3F's (Filipino fast food) that is quick and delicious. I went 30 minutes before they were going to close so I only had a few options. The options that I had to choose from were pork sinigang, pork adobo, and pork menudo (but I think they called it something else). Luckily pork sinigang was one of my options. I wanted chicken adobo but went with pork adobo because it was the closest to what I originally wanted. Both my choices were delicious but the lumpia was okay. Hubbers asked: "You got pork adobo? Is theirs better than yours?" And the answer is a resounding YES. So let's start with that. I was in the mood for Pinoy food for dinner and since this place was conveniently on the way home, why not give them a try. Ala carte was the way to go (plenty of leftover rice at home) so I figured 2, maybe 3 dishes should suffice. The adobo was a must, as was the lechon kawali, but when I saw they also had patatim, had to get that as well. I also skipped lunch so I didn't wait 'til dinner to have 'em all. Warmed up rice when I got home and dove in. They seasoned all three dishes very well. The pork adobo was tender. As with the lechon kawali plus the crisp on the skin. The patatim was like butter! I might have eaten way more than I needed! I enjoyed all three thoroughly. FOOD: 5. There was nothing I didn't like! SERVICE: 3. Very little interaction, but friendly. VALUE: 4. I feel I got plenty for what I spent. PARKING: Shared private lot. Street parking also available. OVERALL: 3.75. They were out of BBQ sticks and pansit - they're that popular, I'm guessing! Cafeteria-style, but don't be fooled by the kitchen trays. Everything is hot and fresh and even more delicious than it already looks. The Pork Adobo is my fave so far. Tender chunks of brown meat, just the right ratio of salt to fat with a dash of vinegar to make it not so heavy. Jackfruit Curry is great as well. Very heavily coconut milk, mild flavor, creamy with a lovely texture. I also tried their "Sweet Pork" (I think that's what they called it), the steak, the Longanisa, all are amazing. They even do fried whole fish! Lechon is good too, but honestly, all the other dishes are too good not to get. Desserts are not to be missed! The Halo Halo is the best I've had, and so is their Flan. It's SO creamy! The food is heavy so don't come expecting a light lunch. That said, they are masters at balance so no matter how heavy the meat gets, they add some acid to lighten it and make all the flavors pop. I have yet to find something here that isn't absolutely amazing. I'm not familiar with Filipino food but I wouldn't be surprised if this were among the best. read more

It was unhappily given although I was accused of seeking a free meal; nothing could be further from the truth. My time is far more valuable than the $32.05 I spent there. Disappointed. Was craving Filipino food and chose to give this venue my business. Pick-Your-Plate was closed and I wasn't up for a trip to Carson to take a chance on Tita Celia's inconsistent service and attitude. Regretful, on my part. The good: clear, visible signage located in an unassuming strip mall. Interior was clean with a warm, comfortable vibe. Prices appeared reasonable and I was curious about several menu items. The bad: everything else. The young lady working the counter appeared uninterested in serving me. My questions re a particular dish were answered without any discernable interest in my likes or preferences, nor was I offered any samples which I've found to be SOP at the two other restaurants previously mentioned. I found the portion sizes as well as the flavors underwhelming at best. I tried the squid, which tasted like an unsalted rubber eraser, and the sweet and sour spareribs which were decent (hence the two stars for trying). The included garlic rice was flavorless although cooked well, and the pancit was again oddly flavorless. Wish I'd paid by card so I could dispute the charges. Local shop situated in a small complex. The parking is tight but people are coming in and out so you can find a spot. Decided on the combo 2, which comes with rice and 2 entrees. The spicy ribs was delicious - I wouldn't say spicy as it's more sweet but the meat is very tender. The chicken adobo was also really good, my only complaint is there were a lot of tiny bones. I was so surprised to find out Manila Wok had closed in the Lawndale. There are not a lot of Filipino restaurants in that area and so it was a bit of a bummer. Few months later; I was definitely happy to see Pork Belly Filipino Kitchen open up at the same location! Pork Belly Filipino Kitchen definitely did put in a bit of work in revamping the look of the eatery. They have newer tables and colorful chairs; thus giving it a clean and cute look. Their offerings are similar to the previous Filipino restaurant that was here but their speciality as the name implies is on their pork belly. Their specialities include pork indulgences like pork sisig (pork + chicken liver), lechon kawali (crispy pork belly) and pork cebuchon (slow roasted pork belly). If you're not a pork fan; no worries as they also have lumpia eggrolls, fish tilapia and pancit noodles. It is "turo turo" style (the Filipino way of pointing to what entry you want) and they have two combo offerings (combo 1 with one speciality and rice $7.95 to $9.95 or combo 2 with two specialities and rice $11.95 to $13.95). Combo prices go up if you opt to get beef and seafood. On my visit here; I chose to get their pork bbq skewers as well as their lechon kawali. They give two pork bbq skewers per combo. Both the bbq pork skewers as well as their lechon kawali were pretty good. The bbq pork skewers had a nice sweet taste to it. The lechon kawali was delightfully crisp. I would say they definitely stay true to their namesake here with their good pork dishes. One last comment would be on portion size. I noticed they didn't give too much lechon kawali. It wasn't the most generous of portion. Despite a somewhat small serving though; I would still recommend trying this speciality out. I am happy to see another Filipino spot open up here! read more

It's turo turo style meaning that there's a variety of dishes on display and you can pick and choose from those. I got the bistek, pork bbq, chicken adobo, and papaitan (RARE FIND)! Everything tasted great and was a decent price. When I go back, i'll definitely try the lechon (which is what they're known for). Service was great and friendly! I'm familiar with all the filipino food that was there, but for the lady in front of me, it was her first time and they were explaining what each dish was and giving her samples.
