The pizza is great, and has some wonderful ideas to mix things up like the decadent Gorgonzola Pesto Pizza, which is awesome, and the Thai Chicken is the best one I've had in Boise. I have been to Pie Hole on a couple of different occasions. The place is so-so and seems pretty nice when you are three sheets to the wind...which I was on the first visit. There are far better places to go to downtown Boise when you are drunk. If you are in the mood for pizza and you are drunk you should go to Pie Hole. It is very punk rock and has pizza by the slice. On my second visit it kind of reminded of the days when I worked at Pizza Pipeline when we sold pizza by the slice. It was cooked earlier in the day and then sat under a heat lamp and then a slice would be re-heated in the oven. Do you know what that leads to? A piece of cardboard with all the pizza fixins! That was exactly what Pie Hole's pizza tastes like. I would rather order an entire pizza and take the remaining home because re-cooking pizza slices is just gross. I just ordered the regular pepperoni but it was amazing pizza. Out of everywhere I've been this is the closest to new york style thin crust pizza. and the entire place has a downtown feel to it. you walk in and it definitely has that downtown feel to it. if you are looking for an elegant clean restaurant this definitely isn't your place but if you want something more urban then absolutely come here in addition to the urban and energetic environment the people that work there are nothing to go crazy about. they are definitely not mean but they aren't the kindest people in the world i love pinhole just not the lifestyle! read more

They've got a nice variety of pizza, the vibe is fun and hippie cool and the place is open super late. It's nice that you can get it by the slice and the people in there seem to be a lot of fun (including the staff). They have high school lockers in the back of the place, decorated with stickers and some paint and there's also a big arcade video game (sorry, I don't know the name) to help you pass the time while your pizza is heated. The pizza is definitely not amazing though, and mine got a little burned at the edges. The crust was super crunchy and sort of inedible, but the flavor on my spinach, feta, sun-dried tomato slice was very delicious, so that's important. I'd go again...and I bet if it was after a long night, the pizza would have tasted even better. read more

There is nothing better than Pie Hole at 3 am after the bars have closed and you need something to ensure you can make it home in the cab without throwing up. I love the potato bacon and whatever the daily special is. I have actually had their pizza sober as well. While it isn't nearly as good as I remembered it to be the previous nights, it is still a good New York style pizza with a little bit of Idaho in their topping choices (i.e. potato-bacon). I still wouldn't rate them above guidos, flying pie, or the front door for pizza quality but for a decent slice for the right price they are a good bet! read more

I was a big fan until I drove 7 hours for pizza only to be yelled at by pizza tosser for taking a picture of the pizza to spread the word on social media and flipped off by another. Working in the restaurant industry for 10 years and never have I encountered such behavior towards a customers. It might be worth going back to if the pizza were good but it was burnt and subpar. I've got a weird relationship with pie hole. First I went there the week they opened. So while I don't own any stock in pie hole, I do feel a bit like they're my baby and I've got a vested interest in em. Being fancy gourmet pizza isn't the goal at Pie hole, it's a great pizza place where you can hang out, get a cheap dollar pbr and sit and watch Boise walk by. However, the Pizza IS excellent. I am always impressed how they have so many new combinations of pizza and the creativity they have in combining things you'd never see on a pie. Today they had mashed potatoes with bacon on a gravy sauce. I went for the black beans with corn and mushrooms. Both were good, though they won't replace my favorite, their Thai chicken on peanut sauce. If you're visiting Boise it's a must try. Guidos is good too, but their lack of choices and creativity for flavors make pie hole Boises best. Also, 4-5pm is Happy hour atleast at the Broadway location, two slices for $3. Being a Boise outsider, and having recently lived in Seattle where I feel people tend to be cold, one thing I love about this town is how nice everyone is. Especially in the service industry. This place however, was not that. I could not believe how incredibly mean they were to their customers. Not patient with the drunk ones, yelling often, and not to mention the amount of bratty body language that was shown. I liked the pizza a lot, and was not drunk, so there's that. But as an observer of the business and people, the girl and boy working on Wednesday the 10th during the evening either need to quit their jobs, or realize they work in the customer service industry and adjust their attitudes accordingly.
