I had heard great things about Pie Tap, so decided to check it out this week while visiting Dallas for work. I made a reservation and was seated at a nice table with plenty of room so I could work and eat at the same time. I enjoyed a glass of Riesling and a margherita pizza with 3 dipping sauces for the crust (marinara, goat cheese fondue and ranch)...so ridiculously tasty! I normally don't eat the crust, but these dipping sauces made it that much more enjoyable - great idea. Nice atmosphere, great service and great food too - definitely worth a visit to any of their locations! read more

We had a reservation for eight. We were seated, ordered, received the appetizer, but never got our dinner. After about 1.5 hours, we flagged Matt (our waiter). He was oblivious to the fact there was no food on our table. After reminding him that we had ordered food about an hour earlier, he went to find it. Eventually, another person, who may have been a manager, came to the table apologizing for being so busy that they did not make our meals. But they were "getting right on it." They were happy to charge us for our iced teas and appetizer. They also offered to make our food to go; however, we did not have another two hours to give them. The service was very good at the bar. The ambience was nice- trendy but casual and not pretentious. They were playing Indie rock and showing the Olympics at the bar. The service was lovely. We had: - coffee - cinnamon roll (delicious, but a little dry) - Simple salad (perfect - crunchy and vinegary) - pepperoni pizza (good quality, crispy pepperonis) - Mushroom + egg pie (savory, I'll ask for it to be a bit more well done next time) - various cocktails (unique and well executed) The dough is delicious. Chewy in the right places, crispy and charred in the right places. The frozen rose cocktail was s standout - not too sweet, with a beautiful hint of rosemary. This was our first visit. It's got a neat atmosphere, I think it would be really nice on a warm day when the restaurant opens up - "open air" concept restaurant. When we arrived we were told it would be a 15 minute wait, but as soon as we sat at the bar and began to order a drink, we were told by the host a table was ready. Our table was on the enclosed patio and the table was a leaner, but we adjusted. The server was great. The food was okay. Nothing really wrong with it but we just were not wowed. Pie Tap has a great and safe pickup system during COVID. The Wednesday specials that they have are a great deal, so I have definitely ordered frequently on Wednesdays. Their pizza is always delicious and fresh, and they have unique pizza toppings that blend together perfectly. I also got their margarita to-go kit, and I was pleasantly surprised by how great the drinks turned out! Great Pizza We decided to start searching for the best Pizza place. I came across Pie Tap in my Google map search. We arrived on a Saturday night about 5:15p and was seated immediately. First thing we found out that most of the seating away from the bar consisted worn out padded bench seats on one side and terrible hardwood seats on the other. If you got the padded seats side it wasn't too bad. The next issue was the floor slant. It's so weird because you seat on an angle. The whole seating area is on a slant. We ordered up some pizza and some craft beer. The pizza is Outstanding and so was the beer. The waiter Michael was great and so was the manager. Please call a floor contractor and get a float job done on the crazy floor and replace those hard seats. Final thought is add a new floor and seats and it's one of the best pizza places in town. read more

Order an appetizer, the meatballs where very tasty and chicken, which is a big plus if you are like me and not a fan of pork, but are of meatballs. A table next to us got the knots, they looked amazing, going to try that next time. I was really bummed when Chili's closed. It was my neighborhood hangout where I ate on a weekly basis. Well, Pie Tap has filled that void. In a cozy, intimate atmosphere, one can relax and enjoy some great Neapolitan-style pizza and pastas. Zak and Lauren were superstar servers. The pizza was superb. My only ding would be the Caesar Salad. I'd like a little more romaine for the price, but the rest of their menu is spot on price wise. I am in love with Kenny's East Coast Pizza, located directly across the street from pie tap. When a friend suggested we try pie tap instead of Kenny's, I hesitated, but went along with the crowd. Obviously I am a sheep. But I am a very happy sheep. Pie tap brings a very different Pizza taste to the market. All their ingredients are sourced locally, they went through some spiel about a 96 hour process to make the dough, everything is fresh! I would have given it five stars, but the Caesar salad was problematic. The dressing was delicious! Ask for extra because they barely dressed their salad. The croutons outstanding. Here comes the problem, the lettuce. All they do is put the leaves on the plate. I prefer my Romaine pre-chopped so I don't have to deal with huge pieces of lettuce. Next time, I think I'll ask them if they will chop it for me. Let them make the mess in the kitchen and not on my dining table space. Now, to the star of the day. The pizza. We went for the simple pepperoni, the great equalizer in the pizza War. Pie tap does not disappoint. The pepperoni is mildly spicy but not overly greasy. The cheese on the pizza was fresh and melt-in-your-mouth incredible. The marinara sauce they use is delicate with a hint of the tomato and Spice. And the piece de resistance the Romano parmesan cheese that they cut freshly off the block table side. It all made for the most incredible mouthful of pizza! I'm not sure why, but no restaurant has ever survived in this location for very long. I hope that is not the same with pie tap. We came at 12 noon on a Monday, and there were only three other tables filled in the restaurant. You guys need to go and give this place a chance, you won't be disappointed! Had a really good brunch experience today. The host seated us promptly and gave us hand sanitizer that actually smells nice. Our server Becca was very knowledgeable of the menu. She suggested their brunch drinks. I got a bloody Mary and my wife got a frose. Both were tasty. I enjoyed their farmhouse breakfast and my wife got their breakfast sandwich. The kitchen did great! Pie tap is a good local hangout. There is a lot of positive energy. We both were on a diet the night we went. However that did not stop us from ordering the rotisserie chicken. It was served with garlic cauliflower mash and broccoloni with mushrooms. It was very moist and flavorful. No hot sauce available however. That is not excusable in Texas. My only complaint about my chicken was it was not hot. Even after I asked the asst manager facetiously "should this be served hot", and the answer was yes. Hum think they should have offered to bring a hot one. The dark meat chicken balls in a flavorful tomato sauce was very good. It is served with some of the best bread I have had. Unfortunately we did not eat it because of the diet . I have eaten here when I could enjoy the pizza. I think it is some of the best in town. I will return. read more

This is our fav pizza joint to go in Plano. We recently became very disappointed in Kenny's and saw this place opened up. Tried it on a whim - great beer selection. The salad was on point - even our 3 year old son was eating it by the handful. His kids pizza was great - devoured the whole thing. Our pizza was as well. Service was excellent. Have come back another time and gotten takeout - still just as good as the first time. Great patio but have yet to try that out. Overall great atmosphere inside - perhaps a smidge dark, and the unisex bathroom a little confusing. The patio looked nice but we sat inside as it was a little warm. The wine and beer are on happy hour most of the day throughout the week. I just wish the cocktails were included as well! Based on the yelp reviews I was definitely iffy about going here, but I'm glad I went. We had the pepperoni pizza and it was very interesting, it was not your typical dough, it was actually sourdough. Usually I would say I'm not a fan of sourdough (because of the bitterness), but it was surprisingly delicious! The pizza was very crispy and the sauce was great (it even had small diced tomatoes). Quick Tip - they take reservations and its not overly huge, so I would make them! I watched a bunch of people walk away because they didn't make reservations on a Friday night. It's medium noise inside, and there is a patio and they have portable heaters going too. First trip in with friends who frequented the downtown location. We ended up sitting for hours and chatting and grazing like sheep. I ordered the old fashioned and I'm usually a 1 and out kind of guy choosing neat over mixed, but theirs was spot on. Not too sweet and not loaded up with an abundance of bitters. Crazy, all 3 tasted consistent too which is always tough to get. We ordered the knots and prosciutto cheese with arugula. Great stuff, the whipped Asiago took a minute or two to warm up and like, but when schmeared on the knots, nice and chewy with great depth of flavor on their dough, was fantastic. The prosciutto dish on skewer was a but tricky to share, but pull the stick and slice. Good for 4 people no problem. Pizzas, we couldn't decide and ordered 3. The egg mushroom was off the charts. I don't think I ever had a pizza with egg, but I will again and again here! The sausage meat pizza was fantastic. Tons of meat, right thickness to bite and Chew plus with it being thinner, it cooked up and rendered nicely on the pizza. Last was the magherita pizza, I'm not personally a fan of those, but tried a slice and the balance was incredible. Great flavor, loved the arugula too. Overall, first impression - I like it. I still love Kennys Pizza across the street and will still frequent it too because its not the same category. When I want a NY style, thin, big wide and all spread out with thick cheese and toppings, I'll go there. When I want more gourmet, great artisan style crust and sides, this is my new home. read more
