This place was amazing! My fiancé and I visited the city for Christmas and wanted some breakfast before going to the zoo. (We stayed the night at the King George Hotel.) We originally wanted to go to the Taylor Street Café, but it was so small and narrow, we felt claustrophobic and decided to leave. We came across Pinecrest Diner and only had to wait around five minutes before we were seated. The entire staff was helping one another with tables to make sure everyone was fed and satisfied. The servers were helping the cooks and the bussers were helping the servers, it was a great system. My fiancé ordered the bacon and eggs, and I got the corned beef hash and eggs. Everything was SO GREAT! Both of our meals came with two pieces of toast and hash browns; we basically ate everything. The bacon was perfectly cooked, the eggs were on point, and the corned beef hash was to die for. We ordered waters and one apple juice and the price was $30.55. Very much worth it. Thank you to the entire staff of Pinecrest Diner! You did a wonderful job, keep up the good work. We may just be back if we are in the city again. read more

Horrible Dining experience. Ordered a beer at about 130 am and got it 20 minutes later. Only had it for 10 minutes and with no warning of 2 am the apparent "manager" came by and took it away. Didnt really make a big deal about it and then went about eating my burger. Then he insists on coming back and point his finger in my face, saying that if he had been doing this for 14 yrs and if i knew business or something then i'd know how to be a business man lol.Totally did not know what he was trying to argue about. Then out of no where he threatens to call the police with his sassy princess attitude. I only got annoyed at the fact that i was trying to enjoy my food and he just wanted to argue and got all defensive over a beer. The other gentleman waived the charge off and was working to diffuse the situation. Even after I paid the "Manager" came back to argue and run his mouth again. Pretty sad. My buddy order a plate of fries around the same 130 time and received super late after I finished my burger. Not sure what happened there. read more

I love pancakes and have eaten them all over the US. These are hands down some of the best pancakes I've ever eaten. A ton of buttery flavor. I would stop in every day just to eat the pancakes. They rival the Dairy Bar in Madison, WI. read more

I love eating breakfast at Pinecrest Diner. My friend and I have been here twice, and are never disappointed. We were going to eat breakfast at a new place today, but decided to go back to the diner. We waited in line for about 10 minutes. We got seated at the bar, which was totally fine. It's always a good experience from the servers to the cooks to the people. We ate here on a Friday night after hearing it would be a 2 hour wait at Cheesecake Factory. My husband and I were pleasantly surprised ! We ordered a salad with Italian dressing; the dressing is really good. I ordered a Reuben And the Bacon mac and cheese and my husband ordered another pasta dish topped with chicken. The Pinecrest was fabulous for the four of us. We recommend the vanilla shakes and fries for a late night snack. For breakfast you can't beat the eggs. We sat at the counter and had a ball. The cooks were poetry in motion. Great entertainment. The only issue was the restrooms. Oh, dear. The steep steps leading to the downstairs restrooms were quite slippery. There was a smell coming from both the men's and the women's restrooms. I hope they read this and clean them up for future guests. In the meantime, eat there, but don't use the facilities. read more

This is one of those places where it takes you back in time. I always try to go here at least once while I am in SF. The food is diner style fair and the portions are big while not getting too expensive (for SF). I like being able to sit in a booth and watch the traffic go by. The food is really good; haven't had a bad meal yet. Only issue I have is the only restroom they have is down stairs and down the corridor. I didn't feel Valued or cared for as a Customer. I walked in to get a "to go order" and a coffee while. I waited. I was immediately told not to sit at the table. But instead at the counter. There were no seats available at the counter. I told them I would be long and that I would move if necessary. 10 minutes later a gentleman said that someone will be right with me to take my order. I then waited. No one came. Then a Couple walked in. That same gentleman gave them water and took their order. I continued to wait. Then I said I better go to the counter and order. I was then told after waiting that they will Not serve me at a table and to move to the counter if I wanted service. I then found one counter seat available. It was near the stove and very warm. I continued to wait without being "Acknowledged" or valued as a "Paying customer". I was Not acknowledged at all after several minutes so I left. If you want good "Customer Service" and to be valued as a customer. We were waiting inside and the other party was waiting outside. We were told there was a party ahead of us. We let them know we were aware. We were told we HAD to wait outside. I was confused as to why we HAD to wait outside. We had no intention of skipping the line of three. I informed the server that it was cold and my children and I preferred to wait inside. We were told it wasn't an option and we HAD to go outside. I told him if this is how you treat potential customers we would go elsewhere. He said that was fine. This place is hopping! Line out the door at 10am but still got immediate seat at the bar. Omelettes and hash browns look consistently good and the cook is genius at flipping the pancakes.
