Our overall experience here was 5/5 ! Our server had her hands full with the tables that came in right at 11. She was so kind and patient with us. We ordered for the entire table and got the khao soi braised short rib, crab fried rice, red curry with shrimp and side of jasmine rice, papaya (Lao style), and sweet roti. The khao soi was delicious, but a little different from what I'm used to. It was good but just different . The beef short rib was bbq and had a nice char to it. The crab fried rice was the TABLE'S ABSOLUTE FAV. It was bursting with flavor and we could have all had this to ourselves. The curry was equally 100/10 but next time I'll opt for a chicken or beef since the shrimp wasn't enough for me. My kids ate it all so fast. The papaya Lao style wasn't as fermented as I wished but it is a Thai restaurant so I don't expect anything less. Sweet roti is always good! The vibe is there it's cute and the perfect place for a day out with friends.

This Thai spot is a hidden gem! Everything we ordered exceeded our expectations. We started with the Pineapple Fried Rice with shrimp and chicken--so flavorful and perfectly cooked. Then we tried the Crab Cracker, which was surprisingly light but packed with flavor. My absolute favorite was the Khao Soi with fried chicken. Wow. It had the perfect amount of spice, the broth was rich and comforting, and I was already thinking about the next time I'd order it before I even finished my bowl. I also ordered the Chicken Satay for my 5-year-old daughter, and she completely cleaned her plate! If you have picky kids, that's saying something. The service made the experience even better. The young woman who greeted us welcomed us with the biggest smile and even waved when we walked in, making us feel like regulars even though it was our first visit. She was warm, attentive, and genuinely kind. Delicious food, generous portions, and wonderful service. We'll definitely be back!

    Khao soi Seafood Curry Udon

Food: We ordered the Khao Soi Beef Short Rib and the Khao Soi Seafood Curry Udon, both arrived with stunning, very Instagram worthy presentation that immediately stood out. The bowls were generous and hearty, filled with tender chunks of meat, lots of seafood, and a good amount of noodles that made them feel indulgent and comforting. Between bites and conversation, the flavors leaned deeply savory and rich, though for my personal taste they ran a little on the salty side. Still, the quality and care in the dishes came through, and I imagine they'd be even more enjoyable with lighter seasoning and a slightly calmer pace to fully take everything in. Price: Pink Pepper falls into a fairly standard Hollywood pricing range for Thai comfort food. The Khao Soi Beef Short Rib is around $18.50, while the seafood noodle dishes typically hover in the $19-22 range, depending on the protein and preparation. Expect about $20-30 per person before drinks, which feels reasonable given the generous portions and quality of ingredients. Ambiance: We sat outside on the balcony, as one of the party had a very small dog along with them. I can't speak to the inside dining room, but the outdoor seating was actually quite pleasant, spacious, comfortable, and temperature‑wise just right. It's positioned right next to the road, so there's street noise, but it didn't feel overwhelming and worked well for a longer meal. Service: Service was good and kind, though a bit slow. It appeared that only one person was handling most of the front‑of‑house duties, so there were some mild noticeable gaps between check‑ins, ordering, and food arrival. That said, nothing felt rude or dismissive, just understandably stretched thin. Overall, patient and friendly service. Parking: Parking was unfortunately the most frustrating part of the visit. We parked in the structure behind the restaurant, assuming it would be free or at least validated. Even after confirming validation with our server, we still ended up paying around $16 for parking after staying roughly 2-2.5 hours. A heads‑up here would've helped, as it was an unwelcome surprise at the end.

Bombastic feast! Was drawn here by the short rib khao soi and it over delivered. A hefty portion of well cooked flavorful short rib coupled with rich and buttery coconut broth. Pad kra pao gai and soft shell crab pad Thai were spectacular too! Really enjoy the addition of higher end ingredients in these everyday dishes and yet reasonably priced. Friendly service in an intimate setting. We need more restaurant operators like this.

little eatery tucked next to adjacent parking structure. Dong pull a ticket at this structure instead know your license plate number you'll get 2 hr free parking! Onto the food! First the soup it was souping! Star dish because unique flavor we tasted butter lotsa chicken . Server said no butter! Tofu pad thai was delicious lotsa little tofu chunks. Chicken curry looked like small portion however after we broke down the potatoes and carrot and chicken chunks it turned into a very good portion. I would go back and just order these two entrees AGAIN! The eggplant was ok but too salty, the chicken basil needed more basil . I ordered a lunch special the crispy salmon it was small chunks in a glass dish drizzled with mayo. Not much salmon flesh. Side of dipping sauce and two steamed dumplings on bed of shredded cabbage and white rice. I want to try other lunch special options because for the price it's a good deal. Oh was our friends birthday and was surprised with a free treat we all shared ....fried bananas with scoop of green matcha ice cream....ohhhh this was a nice treat! Thank you Pink Pepper i recommend can't wait to go again and introduce more friends to this cozy place! There's a front covered patio. Small dining room with cute decor. Bathroom had a funky smell so if sensitive be worn!

I know I just found my new favorite Thai restaurant. The Khao Sou Beef is absolutely outstanding, cooked to perfection, flavorful, and unforgettable! Love the papaya salad, ordered it mild no chili. First time here, we only ordered two items just to see if we liked it and we absolutely loved it! Kudos to Natalie, who not only took our order, delivered our food, clean tables to a full restaurant, we never felt neglected! Customer service, outstanding!!! parking garage located in the back, restaurant will validate for two hours. We will definitely be back, see you soon Natalie!

During Happy Hour, they have amazing prices on appetizers and drinks! Highly recommended for a great deal right off Hollywood Boulevard. It's a great place to head to before a movie screening at TCL Chinese Theater like we do! It's right around the corner and I wish more tourists would get off the chains on the main strip and scurry over here. Their crab wontons are fantastic! Nicely crisped by the deep frying and plump, full of cream cheese and real dungeness crab. Would get again for sure. After reading reviews, I found a common theme that the Khao Soi here is highly regarded - some even calling it the best in LA! I concur it is delicious with several protein options~ I enjoyed the crispy chicken in mine. Great portion size, very spicy, and very delicious. This Northern Thailand dish is done well here. Service is always quite friendly! Plus they have a cute little outdoor patio that transports you out of Hollywood and into a garden oasis. However even if seated indoors, it's colorful and fun! Just a great place to grab a bite in the tourist area of Hollywood!

    Khao soi beef short rib
    Derek T.

Thai food is here and there so what's the big deal about this one? I dunno, try the Khao soi beef short rib and find out why. It's creamy, it's flavorful, it's got a giant short rib bone in that slides right off. Is that enough for you? No? The portions are generous too so you'll be nice and full. Slide the meat off, mix everything together for a hearty meal full of protein and noodles and what not. Feeling seafood? Then try the Khao soi seafood curry udon instead. My wife got that and barely got to share any with me. That's how good it was. Hefty amounts of shrimp and mussels with udon. Way creamy and delicious too, at least from what little pieces I got to steal from her. So all in all, this was a banger of a restaurant that's a little lowkey but definitely worth trying. Parking kinda sucks but there's a parking structure out back they'll validate for as long as you don't exceed 90 minutes.

So delicious. Love it been here many times. Food is incredible I love it. The Thai tea, noodles, so yummy.

Tried this place for the first time and it definitely made it into our Thai rotation! Everything is delicious, portions are good sized, and they are so lovely and friendly. The garlic noodle appetizer was one of the best things we had. Everything is well sauced and not dry at all compared to other Thai takeout. Also got a lychee martini and Thai tea and they were fantastic. Inside is very colorful and decorated. It is a nice change from a lot of modern restaurants that lack decor. If you like Thai, I highly recommend pink pepper!

I am just checking in will update my review later but ambiance, service and waiting patiently to try the food I saw on a reels *Update* I was super excited to do this update thanks to the California Bucket lists reels that enabled me to come back and try new dishes I never had ordered before at Pink Pepper. My favorite dishes will have to be the Shrimp Tom Ka soup get a pot and a side of rice because your going to enjoy the pot rather than the small soup trust me on this delicious! I also really enjoyed the Chicken Pad Ka the server recommended since I came in showing her all the items I wanted to try on the reels. She was really sweet and helpful and her recommendation was perfect since I did not want Pork that night either way these two dishes were my favorite. I was really full by the time I got to tasting the short rib, but I still had a bite and the meat fell off the bone and noodles were crunchy and that gave it such a great textural taste. Lastly, the Banana dessert I'm biased about because I'm big on anything banana related so I loved the crunch and softness inside the dessert. Reminded me much of Turon which I love just with an addition of ice cream that made it a whole lot better! Overall loved my whole experience I cannot wait to come back for the soup on cold winter days that soup will be much needed.

Parking has changed. The restaurant will only validate for 90 minutes after that time you will be charged the FULL daily rate of 15.99. Make sure you know you license plate number because they need it for validation. It was a little loud in restaurant during this visit between the people and the constant moving of tables. The food was good but I can tell that portion sizes have been scaled back. The service is still great.

Parking little diffcult to find behind the building. But the establishment validate the parking fee as long you order $50 and above. Friendly staff service and delicious food, 10/10.

Even when we ordered the food, the server said "that's it?" as if she was offended that we didn't order more food (lower sales?) I'm not sure if we misunderstood her attitude but that's kind of how it felt like. The quality and size went down and it was just... not good. This used to be my #1 spot for cold noodles but our other fav place was closed today so we decided to come here. As you can see, the size of the cold noodles became smaller. Everything was packed in this small bowl which made it harder to eat. I think they changed the noodles they use because it wasn't doing anything texture wise. It used to be chewy and had a good buckwheat flavor. The broth tasted.. like water with a splash of bone broth. The quality of galbi was also a disappointing as I feel like it's became less and the meat was burnt with more fat/chewy bits. The leek pancake was ok but again, comparing it to my picture from January, it was bigger in size and more dough-y. Service was decent previously but it felt a bit cold today. Again, super bummed because we still love this place but I probably won't be ordering their combo again. You can see in my pictures how often we used to order the cold noodles from here and you can compare the quality.

Don't let the line of people outside, or the lack of parking, deter you. The food is worth a bit of a wait and they have good efficiency with turning over tables. The beef bulgogi really stands out for me. The peppers and mushrooms elevate the dish beyond the onions and beef I'm used to at most Korean places. It makes the dish something you can confidently order as a standalone meal. But it was also a sizable portion. So if you are willing to share your food, the dish works well if you want room to try another item. The vegetarian bibimbap came with tofu so you can still get your protein. I didn't personally eat this dish but I'm a stranger to these parts and this was the dish that helped my group discover this restaurant. So it comes highly regarded. If you are looking for something a bit different, and don't need the crispy rice cooked to the hot stone pot, the Yulmu Bibimbap is a great option. The barley rice gives a unique feel to the dish and the bean paste stew made the dish more interactive than most. The stew was bubbling hot and was packing a punch as well. So be prepared for both kinds of heat with that dish. But definitely good, and well worth the deviation if you want to stray from the classics that this place nails every time. We will be coming back next time I'm in LA, for sure!

The kalguksu noodles seemed to be made in-house, but surprisingly, they weren't as chewy as I expected, and I could taste and smell the flour quite strongly. The hot and sour soup was thick and chunky, just how I like the soup. The scallion bread sandwich with 5-spice beef was distinct. The bread was perfectly baked and the beef was flavorful and juicy. There was both mustard greens and pickles that gave crunch and acidity to balance the meat and bread. The lotus root salad was refreshing while still having a kick from their in-house chili oil. Dan Dan noodles were also excellent. Fresh cucumbers, chewy noodles, flavorful sauce. Hearty portions with enough for a lunch the next day. Also appreciated the speed of service. I really liked…read moretheir interior decoration, it gave felt both modern Chinese and nostalgic at the same time. They also had really authentic and delicious looking cold appetizers like woodear mushrooms and lotus root salad. There was barely a line when we arrived and we were able to order and get a table without much wait. The food all came out at the same time and very quickly. We got their shrimp wontons, Chia Yi chicken rice, and sesame scallion bread stuffed with braised pork belly. I was ready to be transported back to Asia when I saw the dishes but tasting them left me wanting more. The shrimp wontons had very thin silky wrapper which was very tasty, but the shrimp itself was so bland and lacked texture. Most of the shrimp wontons I've loved had a nice bite to it from the baking soda soak but this was just soft dumpling skin on soft shrimp. The shrimp itself could've used more salt and white pepper too, but I suppose dousing it in chili oil helped. The scallion bread filled with pork belly is probably the tastiest dish. The pork belly was well cooked and paired well with the sweet sauce, crunchy peanuts and fresh herbs. The sesame scallion bread however tasted like it has been sitting out on the counter for hours waiting to be stuffed. The bread was cold and the exterior wasn't crispy, there were scallion pieces throughout but you couldn't really taste it. I would recommend trying other dishes before trying the chia yi chicken rice. The shredded chicken was dry and bland, mixed in with mostly soggy pieces of fried shallots. The rice was more flavourful because it was soaked in fragrant oils, but it also left it very mushy and almost congee like. The pickled radishes didn't add much to the dish either. I almost forgot but we also tried their honey lemon black tea and passion fruit black tea. Neither tea had a lot of tea flavor, it was mostly just sweet. The passion fruit syrup was pretty tasty but we both wished there was more black tea. I might be extra critical since I grew up with this type of food, but there are other restaurants in LA that delivers great quality Chinese food. TL;DR: Joy is a well decorated restaurant with good vibes that prioritizes speed of service over freshness and flavour of food.

The server came by quickly and dropped off the check as she saw that I was nearly finished with my meal. PARKING Parked at Joe's Autoparks. It was $15! I did not know until after I paid the ticket. Very difficult to find parking in this area, so not many options unless you want to walk really far, back to your car in 90 degree heat. There was another parking garage next to Joe's, but the price was the same! Would I come back again? Not sure. Given that the udon wasn't what I expected, it may be my last time here. Also, parking sucks.

Had a great experience at Sulga House of Beef Bone Soup…read more Their beef bone soup is simple, clean, and really solid, the kind of comfort food that just hits right for the soul. They currently have a great deal at $12, which makes it even better value for what you're getting. The sullungtang comes with rice, soup, and two types of kimchi. Service was friendly and efficient, and the whole experience felt easy and satisfying. Place was chill, not too overly crowded. I've noticed a lot of people ordering other dishes every time I go, so I'm definitely looking forward to trying more of the menu, but I keep coming back for the basics because it's just that good.

Sulga was definitely THE place to be for a warm bowl of bone broth on a rainy night. My friend and…read moreI stopped by for doganitang (for two), and the portions were indeed large - for four. We also added beef brisket since my friend wasn't a big fan of cartilage - more for me! The pot itself wasn't too deep, though there was a good portion of protein cartilage. Also important to note that rice was NOT included! The brisket add on came as a pre-cooked brisket that was added in after, as it didn't initially fit in the pot. The staff member told us at the time that broth refills were free. However, when it came time for refills, they said it was only one time - poor communication. Paying was fairly straightforward, but for future visits, I'd likely just come for their lunch special sullongtang after this experience.
