Been wanting to stop in here for a while and I am glad I finally made it down!! Ordered the Amazon, MT and Cali Express. MT was my favorite. Very fresh and good crunch from the shrimp. The Amazon is SPICY!!! LOL It says so on the menu but I feel like most of the time it ends up not being so.... Trust the menu here! It's good.. it's kind of annoying that the spice level can vary depending on which piece you pick up but powder is hard to control. Cali Express didn't do it for me. My first time to Pisces did not disappoint. I started with their house named Pisces roll. The flavor combinations were explosive. It was both unique and satisfying. I tried their lunch AYCE. Every roll I tried surpassed my expectations. I also had their loose leaf green tea, with hints of nut flavor. What more can I say. This is my new sushi spot of choice. 10/10 read more

The food was good but I'm not returning until the menus are updated. Most of the menu items listed are incomplete in my opinion. And while the rolls list the ingredients contained on the inside, the outside could be a surprise. My rating is fair for the overall taste but also for my expectations (based on the menu alone) not being met. What I mean is that, a menu should tell you what your meal contains and if it doesn't, you can't expect that the consumer will be happy. I don't like ordering something and getting something unexpected. For example, we ordered a couple of rolls based on the ingredients listed: cotton candy and vegas. And while they list the main ingredients, you don't know what the sauce or toppings are. So, if you're avoiding something for I don't know, allergy reasons, you may be surprised so ask in advance. I love it when I find a great restaurant in South Reno and Pisces Sushi met all of the requirements. Found this place accidently as one of my other local restaurants happened to be packed with the lunchtime crowd. I chose an a la carte item on the menu vs the AYCE sushi lunch. My choice was the poke salad and it hit the spot with ahi tuna, lightly spiced in the right amount on a bed of lettuce. My son chose the AYCE version of lunch, priced nicely with large amounts of sushi. Pleasant atmosphere, slightly crowded for a weekday lunch and conveniently located in the Smith's grocery shopping center. Servers were pleasant and quick, working hard. I decided on this place because the pictures looked good. Long story short, our server the Asian girl on Saturday, 10/3 5pm was completely off. When she brought us our first order of sushi she called it the high roller which is what I ordered. It definitely didn't look like the picture, but I ate it anyway. So, I ended up ordering another full roll since the order given to me was only a half roll and that was my only order. Then a few min later the guy came and dropped off my actual high roller roll! The one that was brought to me was the rainbow roll for my sisters boyfriend. How do you not know these things?? Is this server new?? So I ended up with more food than I had actually needed. I got the Panko roll I think. Super over fried and cooked it just wasn't edible so I left it. Waste of $9. The chicken Katsu plates two people in our group ordered. The batter was all falling off and super crumbly and the chicken was super dry!! I think someone needs to be taught how to make chicken Katsu. Not a bad stop. Decided to venture off from my typical sushi place and try something new. The service was on top of it and the rolls came out fairly fast! However the fish here isn't anything to jump up and down about. On par with the other local all you can eat restaurants, they have a wide selection of rolls to choose from. No complaints really but if I'm going to be eating my hearts content of sushi, I think I want a place that has some of the tastiest rolls I've ever had. read more

We recently set out to celebrate the end of summer school with a sushi lunch on Sun, 7/3/22. Unfortunately for us, the place we really wanted to try was closed for the 4th of July holiday weekend, so we tried Pisces instead. This is my SIL's favorite sushi place, so we figured why not? The dining room was almost empty, so we thought we got lucky with no crowd. Over-air conditioned restaurants are a pet peeve of mine, and this place was very chilly!!! My kids were freezing, and being July, no one brought a coat! Service was strange. We got a few pieces of our order, waited a while, then got the rest of the rolls...but none of the nigiri. We finally asked about and was told it would all come out at once...and it did, about 20 min after we had rolls. Timing is everything with sushi, too fast and you're starving and tempted to over-order...too slow, and you're too full. We had almost lost interest in getting the nigiri at that point. Sadly, everything we had was just meh. Nothing was stand out. There were some rolls we didn't even want to finish. The only good part was that they weren't really rice heavy. For me, a good measure of a sushi place is yellowtail, something that should always be good; and this was just mediocre. We live in E. Sparks so Pisces is pretty much the farthest part of Reno from us, so we wouldn't go out of our way to return here. read more

As an avid sushi consumer there are many things I look for when I sit down at the bar. Culture, attitude, and confidence are some. Review gets 3 stars for the food/quality of food. Service gets 5 stars. To start off I had some appetizers and a large Tsing Tao as always, the muscles were over sauced and the wasabi was not hot at all BUT the beer was super cold. Michael was behind the counter dishing up great unagi among other things like maki rolls for me. Their imitation crab was below average and rice was not as fresh as I am used too/like. I had great conversation with the chef and he is a very hard worker which always made sure I had food and didn't keep my waiting not once. Going back after a 2 year hiatus due to COVID we returned and everything we had on the the ALL YOU CAN EAT was great. Appetizers we had were Tempura vegetables, fried mussels, tempura jalapeños, fried calamari were crisp and not oily. All the sushi, nigiri and rolls were delicious. Questionable "social distancing" since the guy at the next table was probably only an arm's length away. They were pretty busy, so it did take a while for the waitress to finally pick up our order sheets. The sushi came out before the appetizers, and they were just okay. Way too much rice in the rolls for my taste compared to the other sushi places I've tried so far. They also over-fried the King Kong roll so it was extremely crunchy-- not in a good way. The nigiri was probably the best, but nothing to rave about. None of the rolls we ordered really stood out and it just felt like a chore to finish them by the end of the meal-- especially in the K-pop Roll! Very sad rice to filling ratio. We got a chocolate mochi to share for dessert and it came out rock hard frozen, and we didn't want to spend any more time there waiting around for it to thaw so that was very upsetting because I love my desserts :( I really wish I liked this place more because it's the closet sushi place to me, but it was just a disappointment :( read more

Luke was our server and what a delightful sushi chef. Not sure why the low stars but the sushi here was fresh and delicious. We had so many we just did the AYCE (all you can eat). The Nigiri was super fresh. We especially like smoked salmon and the spicy tuna offerings. We also had Donald Duck, Snow White, Mickey Mouse and Hamachi and Cajun Tuna. Not on the menu was Nuclear. I have to change my rating to 3 stars based on my last visit and it simply because the service was so bad. My girlfriend has said that on her last visit with her friends the service was horrible, I didn't believe her since this has been my go to place for so long so I suggested we try them again. And the service was indeed horrible between the inattentive waitresses to the extremely slow time to get our rolls we waited about 30 minutes from ordering before we even got our rolls meanwhile other people who came in after us and ordered after us were getting theirs. I could have understood if it was busy but the restaurant was only half full and they had a full staff of sushi chefs working. We had to flag down the waitress who just kept walking past us just to ask her to refill our drinks. Eventually the rolls did come out and they brought out a few that we didn't even order. We may have just caught them on a very bad day. We especially love the Lemon Light roll (salmon and lemon) and Zodiac(Cajun tuna) but are always pleased with the nigiri selection as well. After having taste of four different rolls, I'm more than a little peeved at them for not telling me about this place before. The service was quick and friendly and the rolls came out quickly. Stopped in for lunch on a Wednesday with a friend I was visiting. She's a local, but hadn't been to this sushi spot so we tried it. We shared three rolls and they were delicious. It seems most, if not all, of the sushi restaurants in Reno offer All-You-Can-Eat options. We concerned it, but decided we weren't quite hungry enough. And I hesitate to do AYCE at a place that is new to me. That being said, after this experience, I will consider it the next time I'm down for a visit. We stuck with water to drink and ordered the Sunflower, Lemon Light, and Cacti rolls. All three were delicious. I especially loved the tempura jalapeno on the Cacti roll and the fresh lemon on the Lemon Light. The rolls were a decent size and not so big that you couldn't put an entire piece in your mouth. The salmon was very fresh! Service was friendly. Not overly attentive, but helpful. Restaurant was clean and no fishy smell. For those around us getting AYCE, their food seemed to come out at a steady pace. For 12:30pm in the middle of the week it wasn't too busy, despite the parking lot for the shopping center being pretty full. read more

I have frequented Pisces Sushi more times than I care to admit, but I'm just now getting around to writing a review! This is by far the best, and my favorite, place for vegan/vegetarian sushi in Reno! My reasons are two-fold: 1) the fresh and high-quality ingredients that make up the food, and 2) Chef Michael. After coming to Pisces a little too often on my lunch hour with my coworker, Chef Michael has gotten to know us and we look forward to chatting with him on our lunch. He has almost 20 years of sushi experience and wraps the tightest sushi you'll ever eat! In all honesty, I don't eat at Pisces if he's not working. I also now only sit at the bar when I eat sushi. Michael knows my favorite veggie rolls, and has even been kind enough to modify them to make them a little more exciting. One time, he modified the Green Machine roll to include mango and onions and topped it off with a different sauce- it was unique and delicious! Michael works not only quickly, but efficiently as well. He makes sure his groups are taken care of...and that they're taken care of well! Aside from Michael's unmatched sushi skills and witty banter, the rice, edamame, and miso are always taste and look fresh and delicious. As someone who solely orders vegan/vegetarian sushi (I also recently discovered that I'm extremely allergic to a couple kinds of fish), I highly appreciate that there is no cross-contamination when my sushi is prepared. I taste no fish or fishy aftertaste, which is rare to find at any sushi restaurant in my experience! The lunch AYCE is slightly cheaper than the dinner AYCE, but regardless, it is most definitely worth it. Pisces Sushi really hits the spot when I have any form (intense, mild, or next to none) of sushi craving. I'm sure I'll stop in this week at Pisces for more of my favorite appetizers, rolls, staff, and mochi! read more

There was no rhyme or reason how anything was brought - it was just brought and played dumped on the table. We ordered a bottle of wine - it was dropped at the end of the table with glasses on a walk-by to somewhere else by a server. All-you-can-eat...well just the to get somebody by for another order paper and then to pick it back up. The food wasn't bad, it was acceptable. I've heard that for a quick sushi fix it works. If this is the case we'll pick up to go if it's the closest place. I can't see going back for the service, or lack thereof. read more

Took a while to get table settings, water, and tray for all you can eat. One lady was great, the younger gal seemed overwhelmed and inexperienced. We had a nice dinner here on 2/6/23. We ordered a lot of food and had trouble finishing everything. The portions are good. The gyozas were tasty, we ordered the mozzarella sticks just because it was funny they were on the menu and they tasted good with a sweet sauce served on top. The udon noodles with tempura shrimp and veggies were pretty flavorless but our toddler enjoyed the noodles so that's a win. My husband and I shared three rolls which were fresh. Pisces Sushi, is good. Thats about it. Staff is friendly, the rolls and maki or decent and the fish quality is fine. They have had to raise their prices a little like everyone in town and have a lot of rolls with shrimp and salmon. There selection of cooked rolls is pretty good if you like that and they have most of the same appetizers included with all you can eat the most other places have. We go because it's close to home. If i had to drive any length we would probably hit up a few other places first. All in all a decent sushi spot. read more
