My family and I have been going to Pisces Sushi for a fairly long time now and it's consistently pretty good! They've got some unique rolls on the menu that for sure never disappoint us. The pricing is good and restaurant is fairly clean and decorated nicely. Throughout the years they have always been staffed appropriately and we've never had to wait an extended amount of time for our order or to be seated. It's in a popular location in South Reno so we always call ahead of arrival to see if there is a wait or not. read more

In the land of all u can eat sushi, I still have not found a place to grab a couple rolls of any individual quality. I have been to Pisces twice before, but today was the first time I ordered a la carte. I had the lemon light roll and sake sashimi. My bill was $18 before tip. The roll tasted good, but was very small, mostly rice, with the thinnest slice of salmon on top and piled with artificial crab. The sake sashimi was good and a better cut of fish. Now I have paid less for larger sushi rolls from the local supermarkets. Maybe I am too practical, but if a customer wants to order a La carte, don't throw together lacking all u can eat quality sushi. Really, I paid nearly the same for two items as lunch all u can eat. Don't punish those who don't want to over indulge. 3 years and I still haven't found a sushi spot, and I use to be a regular once a week akin my previous town. Quality over quantity people. Service is always great even when this place s packed. Sometimes we get something we didn't order but that's okay. Everything is very tasty and fresh. The chefs work very hard and the people behind the curtains in the kitchen. The waitresses are always awesome. The decor is very nice and the bar seething is nice too. I had high hopes going into Pisces sushi but I could not say it was as good as I hoped it would be. We sat at the bar and the space was so tight and it was oddly quiet even which everyone packed into one half of the restaurant. The service took ages. Not only did it take long to get your sushi, but for your order and even just for a refill of water. With all that, I was hoping the sushi would be good but at best it's mediocre. Atmosphere: One of the best sushi places in town as far at atmosphere goes. They have a dark bamboo theme that flows through the interior. It makes the place feel elevated but not too fancy. Rolls: Great rolls with a good ratio of rice to fish. They have a vegetarian menu with about 5 options on it. All can be made vegan. The vegetarian rolls are very reasonably priced at $5-$6 a roll. Miso soup is tofu based at the time of this review, but if you are worried, it's always a good call to ask. To-Go Special: They have a really good to-go special for those of you who work in the area or just want to take your sushi on the go. 2 rolls for $15. 3 rolls for $20. 4 rolls for $25. Been coming here for years on and off. Went for lunch I felt the appetizer were weak at best. Muscles hand no flavor just cooked no special sauce, very minimal amount of seaweed salad. Oh man. Really bums me out to give this two stars. Not really sure what happen to this place. The last two time were ok. But today was to much for us. The rice was way to salty, couldn't taste the seafood from how salty the rice was, we received the wrong rolls multiple times. One of the waitresses was rude, but nice when she gave us the check. Well, that was interesting Wanted to come here as a Change of pace. My friends and I usually go to a different sushi place in town, but I wanted to try something different, so we came here. Unfortunately, inconsistency was the name of the game at Pisces, and for a place that does all you can eat sushi, that's not a good thing. Before I even talk about the food, here's a little bit about the staff. Our friends got there way before us, and put their order in. But my wife and I, who came 15 minutes later and ordered way after them - we got all our stuff first. Appetizers, rolls, etc. We had to ask the staff bringing our food were our friends stuff was. And it wasn't due to being excessively busy - they weren't. Many empty tables here. When their food finally did come out, they asked two or three times to get a side of sauce - which they didn't get until near the end of the meal. Also, at the end of the meal, our friend got his bill delivered - with another tables credit card in it. Had he been a dishonest person, he could have stolen the card info. My concern here is pretty obvious - I'm trusting this person with my bank card. Are they going to hand it out to somebody else, who might not be as honest as my friend? Concerning to say the least. Next, the food. Hit or miss, and honestly, it was 40% hit to 60% miss. Appetizers - tempura; not bad. Just unseasoned. Cheese stick; Cooked well, nice and stringy melted cheese. But covered with honey mustard. Strange. Crunchy muscles; pretty good. Fried jalapeno; not bad. Tasted good. But, the pepper was crunchy and undercooked. With the rolls, I don't remember the good ones, though some of em actually tasted pretty good. I remember the bad ones. The bulgogi roll that tasted like unsalted ground beef. A fried roll my wife got tasted like old fry oil. Literally, we all spit it out. Really gross. Honestly the whole experience was a such mixed bag, I don't know if I'll ever be back. read more

I prefer to dine in for sushi, rather than take out because of the cost. Its way cheaper to order AYCE, rather than ala cart. Also, its much fresher too! Well, decided to order to go, and Pisces does have a to go special. $23 for 2 rolls and like $30 something for 3 rolls. Just for comparison sake, AYCE lunch is $23. So i ordered the 2 roll to go special, added a crystal shrimp hand roll and 2 orders of unagi. Oh boy! So good! The 2 rolls I ordered were the Cotton Candy (cooked) and the Pisces roll. OH MY! The cotton candy roll was really good, I enjoyed it throughly. The sauce was warm and the flakes on top were a nice crunch. I didnt like the Pisces roll as much, but it was very fresh and a bit spicy, which i really enjoyed. The Crystal shrimp hand roll was perfect, the shrimp was crunchy and warm and the roll held itself together. The unagi was also great, but I found it a little dry. Still very flavorful though. I also washed it all down with an ice tea, which was very fresh and delicious. All in all, if you eat at the restaurant this is easily 4 stars. read more

They have wine, beer and saki... and they have lunch and dinner all you can eat. Lunch 18.95 and Dinner 23.95. They do have a kids lunch and dinner all you can eat at a discounted price! I love that! Quality of the sushi was top notch! And the service was ON POINT! Parking is easy. The place is super clean and well maintained. It smells like seasoning and soy sauce - NOT FISH! So, I decided to go to another sushi place last night, and once again, I walked away thinking,"Gosh I wish I had gone to Pisces instead." Pisces sushi consistently has the most flavorful, interesting, fresh sushi in Reno. You go to other places and you have to lather on the wasabi just to get it interesting. Here, the sushi is packed with fish, topped with crab, infused with lemon peel, or any number of combinations and you just can't get enough. I also like that the service is attentive but not hovering, and it doesn't take forever to get your food and drinks. Sometimes it can be a little cool in there, but I think they have to keep it that way so that their super busy chefs stay cool while they are working so quickly. Next time I go, I will be sure to update this review with some of my favorites. For now, know that you can't go wrong with most of the items on their list. read more

I go to Pisces a lot with my family who love it, but I have had better sushi at Oceano, Hinoki, or JJ's. I have noticed that the rolls are different depending on who is making them. They are good, but it is not my first choice for a sushi restaurant. However, this might be the only sushi place that has cheese sticks for an appetizer, which I like! The muscles are always good as well. I do love how dark the restaurant is, and the layout is nice. The service is consistent, I can't recall a time where I have had bad service here! 2.5 stars rounded to 3. I had the all you can eat. It's was standard, average and just ok. Nothing special. Nigiri sushi was very small. Technically, a nigiri piece is supposed to be sized at "one and one half bite". That's the Japanese standard. One problem, among many sushi places, and Pisces has this same issue, is that the chefs preparing the sushi are not Japanese. These "chefs" are Mexican, have never even been to Japan or Asia. Unfortunately, Pisces, like many other restaurants have jumped on the money-making band wagon of sushi restaurants in the USA due to its popularity and the quality of food delivered has been drastically reduced. This restaurant is average when compared to the others in the area. Most of them pretty much are lousy. read more

Its one of The day where they don't have many Customer but it takes then 15 minutes to give US Our orders And The sushi bar is next to us. We seen the sushi cook is standing and just talking. At first it was good cuz I like the food. It's delicious mostly their CANTI. ( should try it) the only problem is the customer service. They are professional but lack of attention to detail. The last straw is that we waited for 10 more minutes then the mix up order for the dessert. I like the food don't get me wrong. The all you can eat price for 3 people is not worth the amount of sushi ordered. Better if you order individual rolls and I'm not sure if the rolls are supposed to be smaller bc of the all you can eat but they're pretty little, small rice portions. When we went there was no AC and they periodically turned off the portable fans. Hard to enjoy the experience with what felt like 110 degrees in there. 10.28.18 This was our first time dining here at Pisces Sushi. We wanted to try something different from our usual all-you-can-eat (AYCE) sushi restaurant. And I have to say, we definitely enjoyed our visit. The first thing I wanted to mention about Pisces Sushi, is that we all loved the decor. There are imitation bamboo shoots and leaves lining the walls of the restaurant and partitions between tables, giving it an clean and immersive look to it. Like most AYCE sushi restaurants in Reno, Pisces has a separate sheet for appetizers and another for sushi (both nigiri and rolls). One thing I noticed that other sushi restaurants don't have on their appetizers was their Mussel Crunch. When it arrived, it was just as I thought it was; deep fried mussels! Their sushi was tasted good and was comparable with other sushi restaurants in Reno. Some of my notable favorites was the Cotton Candy and The Sunflower. It's pretty straightforward from there. Depending on what you like, I'm sure there's a sushi roll for everyone. Pisces Sushi is one of my favorite sushi restaurants visually speaking. As for their sushi, as I said above, it is comparable to that of other sushi restaurants in Reno. Service was on it and the sushi arrived promptly.
