I've enjoyed their pizza in the distant past, like 5 years ago. I tried something new, the Honey Bear pizza minus the honey and bee pollen since it's the only pizza on their menu with meatballs. Had I not been misinformed that this pizza came with a pink sauce, I would have changed my order. The employee looked up ingredient details but it looks like the pie was brushed with chili oil. My pizza had an overwhelming hot Calabrian chile pepper taste, with no cheese/tomato sauce to counter the heat. There's also hardly any mozzarella or provolone cheese. I had to inspect the whole pizza for any. The crust was as great as I've had in the past. Since you cannot understandably create your own pizza, I think I'll wait til my favorite Big Sur shrimp pie and some version of a traditional multi meat pizza are again available before I consider coming back. For their prices (the Honey Bear is $14.50) I want a guaranteed personal pizza pleaser. One big plus is their parking lot and more spaces available in a parking structure on Westwood Blvd. Employees were Covid safety compliant in properly wearing masks and gloves but the guy who checked my order before handing it to me was not wearing gloves. What happened to this place? It looks abandoned inside! It's sooooooooo dirty, I was scared I was going to get sick from eating here! However the food was good! And I waited a few days to leave the review to make sure I was not going to get sick. The employee was sweet. But... Pitfire was a great spot to stop in for a quick and delicious pizza fix. The parking lot was convenient and the staff all were very friendly despite us coming in an hour to closing. I enjoyed the pepperoni pizza & cheesy knots but think the Cesar salad could use a bit more flavor. The interior needs a slight face lift but wasn't too bad at all. We ordered delivery-one field mushroom pizza and a chopped salad. I've ordered from Pitfire before and we have been generally satisfied with our orders. This time, though, it was a different story. We ordered the original chopped salad without the Italian meats. It's a sturdy salad and as usual it tasted fresh. Now for the pizza...when it arrived, the pie was cold and the crust was hard. The delivery arrived later than promised, but the quality of the crust was beyond a pizza delivered late. We could have broken a crown trying to chew through the crust. I stopped in with some friends for an early dinner/late lunch after watching an afternoon movie. Food services at the theater hadn't come back yet so we were left scrambling for a late meal. We saw this pizza place was listed at just about half a mile down the road so here we are. Everybody loves pizza, right? Well it turns out I only like pizza if it doesn't come to me burnt all to hell and covers my fingers in soot every time I touch it. Why you do this??? You had one job, pizza place! I ordered the Beastie Boy pizza on cauliflower crust and a pint of amber beer. I figured why not go for an original specialty, fun-named pie? Looking at the menu again, is actually spelled "Beasty Boy" and is unlikely to have had anything to do with the '80 rap group. Good, because in addition to being burnt past appetizingness, it didn't taste very good anyway, too many sour funky notes from an excess of bleu cheese and pickled jalapenos. The spring onions were also burnt to brittle carbon from its journey through the ovens. Maybe I should have complained and sent the pizza back but my pizza arrived to the table about 10 minutes after all the other food to the table and I didn't want to hold up lunch any longer. The price point for this unsatisfying and poorly made pizza meal was disappointingly steep (topping $30) considering it's a basically a personal pizza. We sat at the outside tables and it was chilly in the late afternoon breeze. The service was nice but I can't give any more stars to a one trick pony that fails at its one trick. read more

I usually order their Linguine Bolognese, which uses a spinach pasta, or one of the sandwiches (either the Meatball Parm or the Grilled Steak), which come with a side salad. I love their pizzas, especially the Field Mushroom and the Heirloom Tomato and Burrata Cheese, which is only available during the summer. For dessert they have Strauss Diary Organic Vanilla soft serve, which is great on its own, but even more spectacular when you add chocolate sauce and sea salt. Study Hall, their happy hour, runs Mon-Fri from 4pm-6pm with select beers and wine.
