So I hear Ernesto's had been a neighborhood staple for decades, so my fiancé and I decided to have a pizza and movie night for Valentine's Day. My fiancé started to order on an app, but I said no, let's go old-school like it's the 90s and call in the order. On the TELEPHONE. I guess no one talks on the phone anymore because the guy that picked up was a total jerk. Figuring it was because they were having a busy night from the holiday, we let it go... The pizza took about 45 minutes to come and by time we got it it was ice cold. A few minutes in the oven to get it crispy again, and the pizza wasn't bad, it was actually pretty good. I'm done with this place. It's just not the same homey friendly vibe without Ernesto (RIP ) My family has gone to Ernesto's for years. When my father went there, Ernesto always made a point to say hello, very nice man, and the food was delicious. That original location closed down (not sure why) they moved around the corner, the new place is updated and more modern but colder, not as homey and now it's called Ernesto's Pizza Cucina but when you drive up you barely see Ernesto's name so I didn't even realize it was the old Ernesto's. The guys in there (maybe it's the sons, I'm really not sure) aren't rude but just not that friendly either, typical cold kind of macho acting pizzeria guys, give them your order, they fill it and you're out. Do I asked one of them "why the name change?" And he said it hasn't changed and mumbled something about being a corporation. Then I said "well, Pizza Cucina is sort of highlighted on the sign, I didn't even realize it was Ernesto's" to which he replied "Its still Ernesto's, people know who we are, we've been here 30 years." Yeah, as Ernesto's, I thought, not Pizza Cucina. Anyway I ordered the shrimp Francese to go and when I got home, there was no pasta, just the side salad that I thought came with the meal. So I called them (and by the way, he answered the phone "Pizza Cucina" - not Ernesto's!) and they said it's one or the other and I ordered the salad. How do you eat shrimp francese without spaghetti to sop up the juices? That should always come with pasta just the way chicken and broccoli always comes with rice. Some things should just be understood. The Shrimp Francese was good, no complaints there. The garlic knots were way too garlicky and greasy though. There was so much garlic they were bitter. So I don't have as much of a problem with the food as with their overall attitude and cold reception when you walk in. There are plenty of places to go, especially in and around White Plains, so we can be choosy. I like a warm friendly establishment where the food is cooked with love and they're actually appreciative of your patronage. Ernesto's is no longer that place. Funny story about Ernesto and how great he and that generation was. My father really liked his Chicken Marsala and wanted my mother to learn how to make it. So he calls up Ernesto - during the dinner rush - and asks to speak to him. Ernesto gets on the phone, my father asks him for the recipe and what does Ernesto do? He gives it to him! He stays on the phone and waits while my father writes down the recipe for my mother. Classic! That's the type of restaurant I want to go to. read more

It's okay but not spectacular. The Sicilian crust is a bit too dense for my taste and slightly doughy, although the red sauce itself was flavorful. I didn't know I had to specify I wanted sauce on a walk pie???? I ordered a pie to be delivered to crown plaza since I'm here for work. Guess I shoulda known I'm not in Brooklyn. Disappointed spending 27.000 ( 22.76 on a on a pie w no sauce plus 3.24 tip). I called the restaurant, and said hi I received a pie without sauce. He starts laughing and I'm laughing cause who makes a pie without sauce, so he places me on hold and speaks to someone else and comes back and says that pizza doesn't come with sauce. We have always been partial to the food at Ernesto's Pizza Cucina, from a yummy slice of pizza to a steaming plate of linguine in white clam sauce, you can't go wrong. So we decided to have an important family celebration here. We made arrangements several weeks prior to the event. Charlie helped us with all the details and made a few great menu suggestions. I visited the restaurant, a little early, to see how they had set up for us, and it was clear they had it all under control. The table was beautifully set and all ready for our party of 16 hungry people. The food was delicious, carefully prepared, very plentiful, and artfully plated. Giovanni, our wonderful server, took such fabulous care of us, making sure everything was going smoothly at every turn. And of course, the people behind the scene are so important as well as the food came out of the kitchen in a timely fashion, which is no small feat when serving such a large party. After my aunt, who has ordered from them several times, suggested we order dinner, I decided to give it a go. Unfortunately my first experience eating their food was sub-par. I ordered two chicken parmigiana wedges and one slice of cheesecake. The food arrived promptly and the delivery guy was nice. However, the wedge lack flavor especially the marinara sauce. The bread was soft but the sandwich lacked enough chicken cutlet to truly fill the sandwich, it was too much bread. The cheesecake slice was very DISAPPOINTING. The only reason why I ordered the slice, was because my aunt swore it was delicious. For $4, we received a rather small piece of flavorless cheesecake, that seemed to be somewhat stale. I went back yesterday and had the sausage and pepper roll and some canolli. It was also great. The service was just as fast and friendly as the previous day. Pizza Cucina was a long time in the making and if you are from White Plains you will remember the "love-able" Italians that used to run Anthony's Triangle Deli in this location before. The owner of Ernestos took over the location about 6 years ago but it was worth the long build-out. The place looks amazing the food is still great. The calzones are garlicy and packed with great ricotta. The sauce is simple, rustic and flavorful. More authentic and a lot less greasy than Magnottas, their long time counterpart. read more

I gave 3 stars because some times you get a good meal here. But some times you don't. One thing to say for sure, stay away from the cheesesteak hero.
