    Margarita with added prosciutto cotto
    Karen L.

I don't understand how Sei Pizza was rated the #2 pizza place in the country. I was really excited to try it because I love a good pizza. But it was disappointing all around. I ordered online around noon for a 6:30 pickup (earlier was not available). When I arrived right at 6:30 I was told they were behind and it would be another 15 minutes. Given there's nowhere to park and wait to pick up, we drove around for 15 minutes. Fifteen minutes later it was ready. By the time we got back with the pizza the oil had leaked through the box onto my pants which was a mess to clean up. We had ordered the funghi pizza and the margarita with added prosciutto cotto. Both were very soggy. The funghi pizza was very salty, and both had burnt edges on the crust which I guess is their thing but doesn't taste good. The quality of the individual ingredients seemed very good but the execution of turning them into a pizza was lacking. Overall it was a disappointment.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Small venue but with blasting flavors.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] And the crust...OMG is what sets them apart from the others. Without a single doubt. This has to be the best pizza place in town. Each pie is made in high heat oven bake. Thin crust pizza with a fluffy and airy crust that exudes a soft, warm, slightly Smokey aroma with each bite. Toppings can vary depending on the day, but I normally like to mix both a tomato based sauce and white sauce pie. So therefore always a group venture. Diavola was a show stopper. A tomato based sauce with Fior di latte cheese and perfectly crisp pepperoni. Not gonna lie, I ate 3/4 of the pie on my own. Bianca was a white sauce with Fior di Latte and uniquely a lemon preserve. Pretty distinct citrus flavor so not sure how many of you will relate to it. Very unique flavoring. Had 2 slices but not a pie you can eat alone in my opinion. Make sure you're with a partner or group. Overall loved their pies and looking forward to trying the Napoletana and Fungi.

10/10 would go again! We dined in and kitchen was slammed at 5pm for one pizza. No frills location, very busy with a few tables and mostly bar seating. Everyone was extremely friendly and apologetic about the wait. I hear there's a sit down location opening next week! Very worth it though, the margarita special was sooooo good. I prefer the crust a little burnt, so it was perfect, but My husband said it was a little too dark for him. The tiramisu was very fresh and delicious, I felt there was too much mascarpone and the espresso could be stronger.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Small shop. Limited seatings.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They got some pretty interesting pizza that you can't find elsewhere. We got whatever was recommended to us-their signature pizza and the meat platter. It was decent but to say it's the best pizza...that's more on preference. The dough is thin. I wouldn't recommend the meat platter since it's nothing unique.

I want to preface the review that I didn't get to dine in this time but ended up taking my pies to go. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's a smaller location so it can get packed but to avoid the crowds you can just take it to go.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I ended up trying both a white/red sauce pizza (margherita and funghi). I will say they aren't the cheapest pies around at ~$26 each for a 12 inch pie but the ingredients are really fresh. Even to go, the pie held up pretty well and the crust didn't get soggy. They don't skimp on the toppings either so I did feel satisfied eating the two pies. I enjoyed both and i'm a mushroom gal so thought the funghi would be my favorite but I was pleasantly surprised by the margherita with bufala. Yum! Their menu is simple and there aren't a lot of options for other menu items like appetizers and desserts, but they have a good option of sides you can order.

Believe you need reservations but we were fortunate enough to be seated right away.Service was efficient and people who did take out were told to order pizza to go and they needed 45 min.[[HIGHLIGHT]]Quite small but they can seat 2 or 4 people to a table.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]Next time need to try the margarita pizza and the davines.Cant wait.

Visited this Pizzeria Sei location (now known as Sei Pizza Bar) for the second time and was happy to be early so we can actually be seated near the counter. We ordered 3 delicious pizzas and enjoyed every bite. What makes their pizza so exceptional is their dough. It's perfection! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The space is tiny and extremely limited in seating so come early or wait for a table.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Takeout works too but for this pizza you want to enjoy it fresh out the oven. One of my favorite pizza places in LA!

Wait was estimated to be an hour but was only 30 minutes so try to stay in the surrounding area. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We got lucky with parking, place is small but cozy![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Started with oil dipped toasts and fresh burata, amazing start. Pizzas came out soon and were absolutely delicious. Pitate was delicious with waves of garlic, potatoes, cheese and cream, oh man was it good. The margarita balanced the rich flavors. We definitely didn't need to order both pizzas but are so glad we did. Their crusts alone are delicious and service by staff was excellent. Will definitely go back and get more pizza!

We were lucky enough to get reservations on a Friday night so we were seated right when we arrived. [[HIGHLIGHT]]There is not much seating in the restaurant, 3 tables and bar seating near the pizza oven[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]], The servers were very attentive and helped us order right away. We got the Bismarck pizza with arugala and patate pizza with pepperoni, and both pizzas were delicious. It was surprising how the unique cheeses and ingredients used in each pizza made them both taste completely different. We were also a big fan of the pizza texture and crust. While eating we saw many people place pickup and to-go orders so this place is clearly very popular. It is a bit pricy for pizza, but you are getting great quality and delicious food.

    Margherita Special

This is my 3rd time here and one of my absolute favorite pizza spots. There's a reason they rank top 2 in the USA... it's honestly well deserved!! The place is small so if you want to do a walk in be prepared to wait, but the wait is honestly so random. One time I got in 25 minutes later and next time 45 minutes. First time, I got takeout and was honestly disappointed. The pizza got cold during the 12 minute walk back to my apartment and it just didn't hit the same because it wasn't fresh. Second time, we did a walk-in on a Sunday and somehow got really lucky. Waited about 20 minutes at a nearby coffee shop because of cancellations. We got the Margherita special and Ruti's pizza, and both were out of this world. Especially the Margherita special... this is hands down my favorite pizza i've tried in LA. I tend to gravitate toward classic flavors and they did everything right with this one. The crust alone... probably the best Neapolitan dough I've had in my life. It's pillowy, soft, slightly chewy, and just has that perfect structure. Only thing to note is their pizzas are VERY floppy. Like... really floppy. So if that's not your thing, you might not love it as much. Ruti's pizza is a white base with soppressata, fresh arugula, and hot honey. The sweet and spicy combo worked really well, super balanced and not overwhelming. We also got the tricolor salad which was a great starter. Very fresh, bright, and tangy from the lemon dressing. It cuts through the heaviness of the pizza perfectly. Third time, we did another walk-in on a Saturday around 2:30 PM and got seated within 30 minutes. At this point I'm convinced I just have good luck with the wait times!! We ordered the mala lamb sausage, diavola, bianca, and tiramisu. My favorite this time was the bianca. It was lighter and acted as a really nice palate cleanser between the heavier pizzas. You can actually taste the lemon in it, which surprisingly I loved on pizza. Only thing is you have to eat it fast because once it cools down, the cheese solidifies pretty quickly. The mala lamb sausage is definitely a crowd favorite, but not my personal favorite.... It leans heavier and the lamb flavor comes through pretty strong. If you like bold flavors you'll probably love it, but I personally prefer something more classic and clean like the margherita or the bianca. The diavola was solid. The soppressata brought the right amount of spice and everything felt really balanced. And the tiramisu... I will always get this if I have room for dessert. It's a good portion size!! The three of us shared it after already eating three pizzas (and still had 3 slices leftover) and we were completely stuffed. I would come back again for the Margherita special and the tiramisu alone.

I liked it. Finally got around to trying this place. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Small interior inside with limited seating. Wouldn't go with more than 2 people. Probably better as a to go option.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The pizzas are good though. We got the mala lamb sausage and patate. Loved the flavor of the lamb sausage. And I loved getting a bite of the potato and ricotta cheese. The middle of the pizza is quite soggy though. You can't really hold a slice with one hand even if you fold it. So you'll need a fork. Would definitely come back to try more. Service was good. Friendly staff. We went on a Friday night and there was a 30min wait, which wasn't too bad since there's a bar right next to it. Street meter parking up and down the block.

margherita special ($26) - a SOLID pizza... flavor and texture were both on point and i can see why this is such a hyped place - HOWEVER, rather than the flavor i was more impressed by the dough and its texture; flavor just tastes like a regular margherita slice but i do appreciate that it's not too sour with a bit of fresh sweetness from the tomatoes - i also liked how the cheese was so well and evenly melted and the amount was just right; not too greasy nor heavy - surprisingly SO juicy too; ive never had such a juicy slice of pizza that came straight out of the oven - the texture BLEW ME AWAY; it was the freshest and chewiest dough ive ever eaten - pizza was thin so you won't feel bloated even after 4 slices rating: 4.7/5 - inflated rating mainly because of the dough... it was an impressive work because ive never had ANY pizza as fresh, chewy, thin, juicy, and high quality like this one - the flavor was above average but the margharita just didn't wow me like the fig jam from lindustrie nyc - i saw lot of people order the mushroom pizza or pizza with an egg that looked interesting so id try those next time - since everything is made fresh to order i thought the wait time would be long but the service was so quick; i got my pizza within 10 min - welcoming and friendly service; gave helpful recommendations - [[HIGHLIGHT]]small casual dining spot so it's so hard to get a reservation but i was able to snatch one easily as a solo diner![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] - [[HIGHLIGHT]]wouldnt come here for a date though as the decor was very plain; come here not for the vibes or hangs but mainly to try this legendary pizza[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] IG: @nom.noms.only

Diavola, Margherita, Special Margherita with Bufala
    Megan O.

Ordered takeout on a Friday afternoon, and the pizza was ready quick and fresh. We ordered Margherita, Special Margherita with Bufala, and Diavola. Loved the chewy texture of the dough and the generous amount of cheese and meat! I would recommend Special Margherita over the regular since the buffalo cheese has a richer, creamier taste. The Diavola is great if you're craving a bit of spicy meat, and they really cover the whole top of the pizza with meat.

While I can only officially claim about 12% Italian heritage, I'm 100% down for Italian food, especially homemade pasta, any day of the week. I'm spending this week in Little Tokyo for a conference, and while Japanese food is also absolutely my jam, when Maccheroni Republic slid into my Yelp feed, I knew that I had to hoof it over there immediately after we broke for the day. I saw the front of the building, and my heart sank because it looked closed, but then I noted the sign that indicated that the entrance is on the right side of the building through the courtyard. Thank goodness! I strutted through the courtyard, and observed about 15 people waiting for tables. Unbothered, I went up to the host stand and chatted with the stylish maitre'd - Dino - who indicated that he could have a table for me in 7-10 minutes. I proceeded to wait and I watched how he deftly sat the other waiting parties in order without difficulty or notes. To the untrained eye, it might have looked a little chaotic, but Dino absolutely knew what he was doing. About 15 minutes later, Dino sat me at a corner deuce in the inside dining room where I had a nice view of everything. Angel efficiently took my order and did a very good job of overseeing my table as well as about nine others. The dining room is so cute and homey, and the patio is a welcome respite from the bustle and business of downtown. Since I was "da sola" or on my own, I just tried the shrimp cakes and I ordered the Rigatoni all Norma which is one of of my go to pasta dishes since I don't eat much meat. Incidentally, this dish is named after Norma, the famous 19th-century opera composed by Catanese native Vincenzo Bellini. According to legend, a famous Sicilian playwright, Nino Martoglio, tried the pasta and was so overwhelmed by its perfection that he exclaimed, "Chista è 'na vera Norma!" ("This is a true Norma!"), comparing the culinary masterpiece to the musical one. So says Wikipedia anyway. The shrimp cakes were delivered quickly by a sweet food runner who kindly checked on me periodically during my dinner. The four shrimp cakes were accompanied by sauteed onions which paired really nicely with the crispy cakes that were brightened with a spritz from the fresh lemon wedge. She also brought a basket with four slices of Italian bread which I enjoyed with the EVOO and Balsamic that were on the table. My Watermelon Ciao was also so good. It was sweetly tart and such a nice treat on a Monday! Not long after I polished off the shrimp cakes, the rigatoni was delivered and dusted with a generous layer of parmigiana. The little fresh mozzarella pearls glistened on the top of the pasta and slowly melted and oozed into the sauce as I stirred it up. Yum! The rigatoni were al dente and delicious, and they were perfectly sauced. Of course, the eggplant was perfectly cooked as well, I only wish there had been a few more pieces of it - although by the time I ate the last noodle, I was so full! Alas, I had no room for dessert, but I intend to bring some of my conference colleagues back for a meal before the end of the week because it was THAT GOOD. I also loved that this place is NOT pretentious at all. There were all sorts of folks enjoying their food here from medical professionals in scrubs to college kids in shorts and t-shirts, and I was also very casually attired, but I was treated well and welcomed with graciousness and delicious food! Mille grazie Maccheroni Republic, Dino, Angel and everyone at this wonderfully lowkey yet fabulous trattoria.

The radicchio salad was loved by my friend who devoured it. I thought it was a bit too sweet for a salad as the dates and raspberries overpowered any acidity or citrus. California offered an immediate rush of light, space, and possibility. My memory is that when I turned my phone back on at LAX, my friend messaged to say he'd gotten us the hookup at Bestia. That dinner belongs to a chapter in which I spent considerable time in California and felt energized by the contrast with New York. My friend is highly discerning, with impeccable taste in food, design, and culture. He notices details most people miss, so when a place impresses him, I pay attention. From the moment I saw his message, I knew the reservation meant something. Even before we entered, Bestia's character was evident. Faded lettering crossed the corrugated metal facade, while brick walls and old loading doors preserved the warehouse's industrial history. Inside, enormous windows and garage doors brought light into a room shaped by glass, exposed ductwork, and warm amber pendants. When I fantasize about living in a loft, many of the attributes I picture are here, especially the incredible windows and connection to the street. Inside the restaurant, the dining room achieved a combination I rarely encounter. It had the table density and collective buzz of a great New York restaurant, but within a large, design-forward space closer in scale to something found in Chicago. New York creates energy through tight rooms, while Chicago excels at ambitious spaces with strong architectural identities. Bestia captured both advantages and made its considerable footprint feel alive and unified. We sat shoulder to shoulder at a pale stone counter facing the open kitchen. Golden era hip hop was playing, and A Tribe Called Quest still rings a very specific bell. I ordered the squid ink pasta, and it was exquisite, with enough depth and precision to command attention amid everything happening around us. We also spotted an unmistakably A-list celebrity, whom I will leave unnamed, making the night feel quintessentially Los Angeles. During that period, I often stayed at the Ace Hotel downtown, and the Arts District felt vibrant, raw, and full of possibility. The proximity to Skid Row could be deeply jarring, with severe hardship existing beside ambitious development and expensive restaurants. That contrast kept the neighborhood from feeling like a neat story of urban renewal, even as Bestia seemed to anchor its evolution. The warehouses and loading docks gave the area a character that no new development could convincingly recreate. Nearby, I also remember the American Apparel complex during its demise and the rise of impossibly cool Los Angeles designer John Elliott. His Escobar sweatpants and Villain hoodie helped define the kit of that moment; loyalists will understand. Los Angeles is a fickle city, drawn toward whatever is new and shiny, which makes Bestia's longevity especially impressive. Scene without substance is plastic, and Bestia earned its electricity through exceptional cooking, assured service, and a remarkable space; if I lived in Los Angeles, this would be one of the places I'd rely on whenever I wanted to impress someone. This is absolutely one of my favorite restaurants in the world.

So shocked I hadn't heard about this place sooner but if you love pasta and don't want to spend $30…read moreon every dish this is the place to go! Loved that it had some classic dishes and some fusion ones as well. Came on a Friday night and joined the waitlist but only had to wait about 10 minutes! There was complimentary bread and a side salad that came with the entrees, and the bread was warm and delicious... We ordered the two Allegro specials on the menu-- Uni pasta and Bolognese. For appetizers we went with the server's recommendation; chicken gizzard confit. Chicken gizzard confit was mind blowing. As someone who enjoys things like gizzard, these were cooked in a way I had never had before and it was delicious. The uni pasta was sooo rich, creamy, and flavorful. 10/10 I would recommend it. The bolognese was good too it was super complex compared to the ordinary bolognese and had eggplants as well. Overall, the ambience was great and experience was amazing. Service was also very good and attentive. Super great spot for a date night or just a casual dinner with friends!

Once step inside, the decoration, the vibe totally changed. It's a dark hue with humbling yet elegant setting with a bar table and I almost felt like a dining in the cave ambiance. The menu was not complicated and only focused on pasta, but there are so many choices to my liking! The squid ink, the mentai cream, the uni sauce, and the garlic butter sauce. We ended up settling with Creamy Crab Gratin, mentai cream pasta, the Pescatore Bianca (seafood spaghetti), and Tarako Spaghetti (Cod roe and squid garlic butter sauce). -Crab Gratin is really creamy and cheesy. I just didn't quite get why there are a few pieces of penne pasta inside. But overall tasted good! -All pasta comes with bread and salad. The salad is really fresh and serve mostly lettuce and cherry tomato, which is how I like it. The dressing is not the ranch creamy kind, more cloudy vinaigrette based, also to my liking. -Seafood spaghetti came with a variety of seafood, shrimp, squid ring, mussels, clams, etc. The portion is huge. -Mentai cream pasta: delicious! I think if I order uni pasta, it'll be the same cream base sauce but with uni and $6 bucks more. I'm happy with my choice. The whole dish is consistent, creamy with a slight kick from the mentai, slices of mushrooms and shredded seaweeds on the top. Delish! -Tarako Spaghetti: I took a small bite and appreciated the strong taste of garlic butter in the sauce. -All 3 pasta are served with the thin spaghetti like angel hair. Service is ok, we asked for water refill and the response was polite. Dirty dishes were taken away timely. If I had more time, I would definitely come back for a second visit. A place like this deserves to be in a more upscale block on the street. Btw, parking inside the plaza is not free even though it's just a strip mall. Expect about $8 bucks for dinner parking. It's gated entrance. If you get lucky, you can park on the street and pay the meter.

I couldn't stop raving about that for hours. Library parking free w/ validation (we went Thurs around 6 pm ish) I used to work next door so am very familiar w/ that lot etc Upon exiting the lot via the north stairs you arrive east of the restaurant literally in between it & library & the beloved Calif Club south Extremely lush & picturesque w/ all the greenery & old architecture. (As if there's no homelessness malady meters away right) Upon entering the open air bar area there's no host stand we saw We snagged 2 bar seats. It was busy TV NOT SHOWING DODGER GAME ooof very bad news bears ! Service was efficient & hospitable ( mind you we sat at the bar) We unfortunately missed happy hour so ordered off the full menu & in my opinion the full dinner menu on a Thursday night in the spring time is extremely limited So we ordered a salmon appetizer, a burrata appetizer & a meat pasta entrée to share. I had a tequila based cocktail. He had a bourbon or whiskey based cocktail. (Not stiff btw) The food was not disgusting. But it was not life changing & portions are tiny ! The views are breathtaking like if you are a 17 or 20 year-old celebrating your birthday, or a tourist; it's very romantic and just beautiful. But I have worked in downtown for many many years and have seen transformations and I am immune kinda, to the views, like not in a bad way, but ive just been exposed to this so long, in other words, if a first date brought me here, it wouldn't impress me. AnyWho, in addition to the interior seating & the bar seating, the patio seating is vast & spacious, & in my personal opinion, a walk from the bar in other words, the servers are racking in a minimum of 15,000 steps a shift (which I'm jealous of by the way), but my point is the patio is humongous & therefore, if you choose to sit outside, you may wait a long time for your items, check, etc. & service possibly. So the restrooms have single private stalls, but the actual sink to wash your hands is open for both sexes. Upon leaving before 8 PM, it got really busy. Yes I will return if the situation calls for it and yes, I will recommend. But I absolutely will not make it a point or go out of my way to return.

I feel the seating was a little tight in certain areas put they did make clear walking paths. Traffic to get here was horrible but we got lucky and found a non-metered spot about a block away as soon as we arrived in the area. For apps, we ordered the garlic bread and meatballs. The garlic bread was different. It was a sourdough loaf with oozing garlic butter inside but was only toasted whole so overall ate very soft and I missed the typically toastiness I get with most garlic bread. The flavor was still very good, especially dipping it into the marinera that accompanied the meatballs. For entrees and sides, we ordered the lasagna, the eggplant tortellini, the chicken parmesan and the broccolini. I can only say they really like their parmesan here. I'm not the biggest fan so I brushed a lot of it off. The tortellini was the star of the show for me and I think it was partially because all the other dishes were marinera + parmesan so it gave a nice break in the flavor profile. Something to consider when ordering next time. The chicken parmesan was delicious. I found the lasagna to be okay and would pass on the broccolini next time (to be fair, I got rid of all the cheese so that probably change the flavor profile they were going for).

I know, crazy, right? But we did it! You'd think just having the Porterhouse would be enough -- apparently it wasn't because we started with bread. At our server's recommendation we chose the bruschetta. Wow, what a fantastic start! The crunchy charred bread topped with the creamy Burrata and house made apricot jam was beyond delicious! Then he asked for his favorite pasta from our last visit -- SPAGHETTI ALL'ARRABBIATA. We can never get tired of this one. The house made pasta coated in that spicy sauce is so satisfying. Then came the steak. Although our server warned us that it was huge, we were still surprised when it arrived. But then came the included sides of fried fingerling potatoes and Ruchetta salad -- to say 'generous portions' is an understatement. I literally laughed at the mountain of salad when it arrived. It was all just incredible. The Prime Porterhouse was at the correct temperature, seasoned well and melt in your mouth amazing. The fried potatoes were hot, crisp and tasty. The salad was so good that the husband ate it -- I couldn't believe it! I tapped out early and in order to leave room for dessert, I had to force the husband to stop. We chose the CROSTATA DI MARMELLATA because of the apricots. We were so happy to have dined while they're in season and incorporated into Mother Wolf's menu. We were then surprised with complimentary sorbet (NETTARINA) and gelato (VANIGLIA) for our birthdays. Beautifully presented, the sweetness of each dessert was perfectly balanced and a wonderful end to a fantastic dinner. And this goes without saying -- service was impeccable. Thanks to the Mother Wolf team for another great experience!
