After inspecting it, he identified damage (caused by rats) to the transmission wiring harness, which had unfortunately caused internal damage. I was hoping it just needed a Freon recharge. After checking the A/C system, Frank confirmed that the Freon was just low and everything else looked good. Luckily, her older car uses the newer, less expensive Freon. I just hung out while he recharged the system, and it was ready to go about 20 minutes later. The cost was only $150, money well spent to get ice cold air conditioning back. The most recent visit was to troubleshoot a service error code and ABS and brake warning lights. I was hoping this would just be a sensor on one of the wheels, but Frank said it looked like the main ABS ECU unit was faulty. Given the potential cost of the repair, it didn't make sense given the value of the car. I appreciated his honest opinion. He said there was no charge, but I still tipped him for his time because he always takes great care of me. I have tried a few other shops in the area over the years, and had initial good experiences. This is basically the 2nd worst thing that could happen to a vehicle IMO The job did take time but I made it work with getting around. Angel and his team did have to do some trouble shooting because this specific transmission requires the valve body to be primed on the bench prior to installation. He rebuilt the entire core and also changed out the engine rear main seal. Now, the transmission feels better than ever. I had to give him a little bit of a hard time about not having Zelle which he ended up getting after.
