The pancakes were something i've never had before, definately can taste the lemon zest, and the ricotta just gave the batter that creamy-sweet taste. It was extremely delcious!!!! And the pure maple syrup, you dont need that much on the pancakes. Highly recommend trying. CHICKEN APPLE SAUSAGE ($4) - kind of pricy for three sausage links. But it was definately needed to balance the sweet and creamy on the palate with some savory. Worth every penny after one bite. The sausages were perfectly cooked, browned on the outside and tender on the inside. CAMELLIA BLOSSOMED ICE TEA ($3) - it was served in a class with a lemon slice. Didn't add any sweetners and kepted it plain; taste real good with the lemon slice inside. Might not be for all palates but for those who like iced tea, this is for you. If you want to sit next to a bitch for a really good brunch, Plow is the place for you. Well, it was for me on a nice, cool Sunday mid-morning. The lack of star perfection wasn't due to her, it was the 1-hour wait for a table, but hey, you learn to expect that at places in SF that don't take reservations. They don't take parties greater than 6. Situated on a corner in Potrero Hill, Plow is small inside with just as many seats outside. The reason for the bitch, is that they have 2-person tables lined up along the wall of the restaurant and well, I had to get in to the inner table for my seat. I asked her nicely if she could move her chair in, well, she moved her butt, not moving the chair and barely at that. So basically I just shoved past her. Good thing I was sitting next to her and didn't have to stare at her sour-puss face the entire meal like DK did sitting across from her. Anyway, she made for good conversation. Onto the food...once we were seated, our waitress took a while to bring us our waters and by then we were ready to order. You really can't go wrong with a breakfast place that has a pig sign under the name of their restaurant. Mmmm.....oink. The potatoes had some sort of Saffron or something on them, because they were as yellow as my egg yolks, but boy, were they good. I normally leave potatoes untouched on my plate (except for the hash brown kind), but these were awesome and just the right amount of crispy. Unfortunately, I had a poor experience at this restaurant. We ordered breakfast this morning and the total should've been $56 but the restaurant failed to mention they would be adding a surcharge to the order (which includes gratuity). With taxes included the order should've been $61 and it came out to $76 so this means they charged $15 in gratuity. This should be a choice for customers AND should be said while placing the order over the phone. I understand there's a difference in service during the pandemic but you should state these extra charges to the customers. It's a standard brunch place at the end of the day. Food is pottery solid but probably not worry the inevitable wait you'll have to go through. We were told 1.5hrs and then after a bit of walking around it extended to two hours. Basically everyone gets the plow, which is standard breakfast - eggs, potatoes, meat and a couple small lemon ricotta pancakes. The bacon was very good and so we're the pancakes. The other stuff was fine too but nothing special. The best thing was the biscuit as a side - super buttery with a nice crust on the outside! But since all my Yelpy friends said it was worth the wait, I was very excited that the wait was really only about 35 minutes. Sitting at the marble? counter is an excellent experience. The 3 guys pumping out the brunch menu for 40+ occupants really know what they're doing. It's fascinating watch them make the eggs, fry the potatoes, cook the lemon ricotta pancakes, and dole out all the other goodies in very organized and efficient fashion. Tasty mimosa, tasty coffee. I have to say, the lemon ricotta pancakes really were not my favorite. I did appreciate that they were crispy-edged pancakes and the lemony flavor was spot on.. but I didn't quite like the ricotta texture in my otherwise fluffy pancakes. I didn't feel like the cheese added anything... but then again, I'm lactose intolerant and don't really enjoy cheese anymore... LOVE the potatoes. Super fried and delicious! Seasoned perfectly. The bacon was tasty but not memorable. I tried Ingrid C's pork sausage and that was flavory herby goodness. Definitely worth the wait. There are plenty of cute shops to browse around including a bookstore about a block away. My favorite brunch is still St. Mike's in Palo Alto, but this is pretty damn tasty if you're up in the city. Anytime of the day actually but I'm saying this because of the windows that line an entire wall of the corner located store, allowing a great amount of daylight into the room. I then noticed that we were seated very closely to another group of people (so close, it was as if we were all seated in one cozy table). The menu says no cell phones allowed? (not sure what that meant or why) That didn't stop me from checking in and taking pictures of my food - I HAD TO! ;) -Chicken Tinga tasted mucho bien! A nice crunchy corn tortilla laid beneath chipotle tomato sauce and two eggs over easy, avocado, and creme fraiche. It was fresh and flavorsome. The textures and flavors mixed very well together and the combination of breakfast and mexican worked oh so well. -Plow: Lemon ricotta pancakes were zesty and very smooth from the homemade ricotta. It was a new idea for me. I liked it with syrup which added sweetness to the zest. Potatoes added crunchiness to the plate- dipped each bite with ketchup/hot sauce, scooping up the oozing yolk from the eggs (Mmmm spicy and savory)- Eggs over easy was a genius idea, I might add! Chicken apple sausage had a smooth, sweet, spicyness. Overall the whole plate was full of dimension. In my opinion, the pancakes were very appropriate, being that the potatoes were super crunchy, the eggs oozed yolk, and the sausage added a kick! I don't think I've ever had breakfast as good as this. When I pulled up the line was intimidating but I walked in to put my name on the list and the host was running around like crazy but still acknowledged the fact that I was there and that he'd be right with me. He was totally friendly and courteous and said my table would be ready within 15 mins "So grab a coffee at Farley's and when you come back you'll be ready to go." So I did just that. the wait for our food was a little lengthy but not complaining. Everyone else had a plate of food that looked so good you wanted to reach out and grab it for yourself. But I waited and it was WELL worth it. I had the "Plow" meal which consisted of 2 small pancakes (delicious) 2 strips of bacon (amazing - even with the fat which I usually hate and ask for extra crispy) 2 eggs prepared any way you want them and country style potatoes which I swear were made in heaven. A recent visit has me downgrading this storied brunch spot from a 5 to a 2. Why? Service, service, service. Yes it was Sunday, and yes it was brunch. We decided to brunch and catch up before she headed back to school. There is a few tables of outdoor seating on the side of the restaurant. Inside, there aren't too many tables, so most likely you will have to share with others. There was a slight rustic feel inside, but it felt very lively because of the music and background conversations. Service: The service is excellent. Servers and staff are super nice and made sure you felt comfortable. Taste: Both my friend and I ordered the plow which consisted of a choice of meat, 2 lemon ricotta pancakes, two eggs, and crispy potatoes. Let me just say, the wait is totally worth it. My friend and I felt indifferent about the meat (she got the chicken apple sausage and I got the homemade pork sausage). I thought the sausage was kind of dry and was over it because everything else on the plate shined brighter. The pancakes are sooo good. They are cakey and moist, and just heavenly. The potatoes, were some of the best potatoes I have ever had. They were super crispy and seasoned well. It had some shallots or onions and other herbs. With tax and tip, I think it came out to $20. So I officially LOVE Plow. I had this place bookmarked for a while and my bf suggested we can grab brunch here. The biscuit was awesome and I would order it again.The french toast was perfectly grilled and the bread they use is perfect for french toast. The Plow comes with eggs, a meat, potatoes and 2 smaller lemon ricotta pancakes. The housemade sausage patty was OK, it was a little dry, but it went with the fluffy eggs and the DELISH potatoes. The potatoes are crispy and taste perfect. The lemon ricotta pancakes were the highlight of the entire meal. They had the right amount of lemon, where it didn't taste too tart and melted in your mouth. I didn't even use that much syrup because it tasted so good alone! The Plow is a tiny little brunch place where a wait on a weekend is practically unbearable. I've been there as early as 8am and as late as 12pm. Either way, be prepared for a wait. The only reason why I keep coming back is because parking is plentiful and I spend most of the wait time at Farleys, the coffee shop down the street with tons of magazines to keep you busy. Oh, and the food too. You can't go wrong with the plow that everyone has mentioned. It gives you a little taste of everything, the crispy potatoes, lemon ricotta pancakes, your choice of eggs and some meat. I actually opt for one of the egg benedicts--the salmon or the mushroom and spinach are both amazing. I also really like the breakfast sandwich, which is pretty much just a burger. You can add either bacon or avocado on it, which is a great touch to that fried egg. Everything here is definitely a size large, so no need to fight over those crispy potatoes. Lemon ricotta pancake is fluffy and you can almost taste the ricotta cheese. You must try it. The plow potatoes are as fascinating. The skin of potatoes was so thin and yet crunchy. I had my eggs sunny side up and that worked great with the homemade sausage. I also tried the pumpkin pancakes. Although they weren't as heavenly as the lemon ricotta pancakes, they were as soft and fluffy. I think SF has plenty decent brunch options but Plow manages to rise above the rest. The service is great and polite. Our waitress was great at making recommendations and checked on us a couple of times. The wait wasn't too bad this time around. We only waited for about 30 minutes. That could be because it is the Friday after the Christmas break or because we got seated right around 2pm, which is when Plow closes. I strongly recommend trying Plow. Delicious breakfast in a picturesque, hilly neighborhood. We arrived mid-morning on a weekday and were able to get right in to seats at the bar. As a fan of watching the action in the kitchen, this was the perfect seat for me. I fancy myself an accomplished breakfast-chef. Those that know me are probably rolling their eyes because scrambled eggs and boxed brownie mixes are about the extent of my cooking ability, but please let me live in my own fantasy. The front row view was perfect: when this place gets busy, the chefs ramp up their speed and work together in the cramped kitchen to get everything timed correctly, served while hot and sped out to the customer. Watching them griddle batches of pancakes, beautifully scramble eggs, and salt a batch of the crispy fried potatoes and shake them around the steel mixing bowl before plating was theater of the highest sort for me (OK hyperbole, but it was FUN!). I enjoyed my Plow breakfast. I'm not totally a fan of lemon flavored pancakes, but these were perfectly prepared. If there was an option for just a buttermilk version I may go that way next time, but everything tasted good. SO had almond pancakes of some sort which she enjoyed. I just got plowed (no homo) After months of being on my bookmarks i finally made my way over there. This is probably my first time eating in that area of small restaurants and shops. really cozy. I find myself going here on thursday and it was fairly full about a 20 min wait and parking was relatively easy to find, but i would imagine it would be hard to find during the weekend. I ordered the pork loin sandwich with a side of lemon ricotta pancakes. The pork loin sandwich reminded me of a similar sandwich from roli roti except roll roti does not use fresh jam to offset the savory. It was a different take from the very familiar pork loin sandwiches that are served out there. I still like roli roti better but this one is not far behind. The lemon ricotta pancakes are also a popular choice at plow. I personally the non lemon versions of ricotta pancakes like the ones served at kitchen story, but plow is just as fluffy and soft and tasty. They worked seamlessly together and put out amazing quantities of food. We ordered a breakfast sandwich, one French toast, and the two eggs breakfast plate. I was kind of surprised that the sandwich came on toast instead of a bun, since I saw those being griddled on the flat top. It was rather difficult to eat and the egg yolk ended up all over my hands. Both of us agreed the potatoes were very crispy. The French toast was good - crispy crust and fluffy interior. The poached pears were well spiced. The ambiance was welcoming, with warm wood trim and tables juxtaposed with stainless steel and brushed metal accents. And the food was very good, as was the coffee. We had the cassoulet, which was something like ham hocks, duck confit, and some other meat broiled with beans in a savory broth - hearty and delicious. 'The Plow', my dish, was delicious in it's simplicity, and really just perfect. Potatoes (crispy + yum), eggs, bacon, and lemon ricotta pancakes (just the right amount of lemon, no syrup needed). I am not easily impressed by overpriced brunch spots, but today I was an exception. It's funny that everyone emphasizes organic and locally-sourced ingredients these days. Eating organic isn't enough anymore, but you now must do society and your community a service by supporting local farms, etc. I hate it for the most part only because it usually means pricier bills for mediocre food. Plow keeps their menu simple, but they do it well. I got the fried egg sandwich, constructed with two eggs, aioli, frisee, cheddar on an Acme bun. Pay the extra couple bucks for the Nueske bacon; you will not regret it. The sandwich was the perfect answer for breakfast. The bun was soft and airy, and the combination of melted cheese, fried eggs, and crispy bacon was heavenly. The crispy potatoes on the side were amazing. The best thing on the menu is the lemon ricotta pancakes. The texture was softer and crumblier than a normal pancake and the flavor was outstanding. It was probably one of the best pancakes I've ever had. Overall, I loved the breakfast here. The prices weren't cheap ($13 for the breakfast sandwich and $15 for the plow). I wouldn't normally pay this much for breakfast, but if it's done right, it's hard to pass up. read more

Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day so while visiting the bay area, my bf and I HAD to find a good breakfast spot. This place opens up at 8am on Sunday and we got there a couple minutes past 8 and there was a huge line already. That was a good sign of a great breakfast to come. We waited like an hour but it didn't bother us because you can people watch and sip complimentary coffee while you wait. Finally I hear my name being called and personally I think we got the best seats in the place, counter seats. We were in awe at how fast the cooks made everything. We both ordered the Plow and loved it! The potatoes could of used a bit more seasoning but were still great. I had fresh grapefruit juice and it was a nice addition to my morning. Came here on a weekday with my brunch buddy, the best kind of buddy there is. Found parking pretty quickly. Parking on these steep hills always freak me out, though. Only had to wait about 20 mins. Not bad! The space and decor that they had was nice..reminded me of NOPA's interior. The nice light wood tables..big windows that let in natural light. Made for a pleasant dining experience. We had to sit directly next to another table though, because of space, but I didn't mind too much. Had the fried egg sandwich with bacon. Pretty good, but honestly the highlight of the meal was the potatoes. Holy crispiness. Haha, so herby and delicious! If you're a texture freak like me, then I think you'd appreciate these as much as I did. I liked how crisp they were, like super fried but it didn't feel greasy which was nice. :] My buddy had "the plow"--2 eggs, bacon, and lemon ricotta pancakes. Plow definitely hits the spot for all your breakfast lovers! This was my first time here, and I am def going back! They do not take reservations so be prepared for that. I went on a Tuesday,in the early afternoon, so the wait wasn't bad at all. We ordered the: -Fried Egg Sandwich - delicious - but I wouldn't get it again just because I would rather try their specials. -Famous Lemon Ricotta pancakes - VERY good, but I felt like it was more a dessert dish for me. So I prefer the -Almond Pancakes - Amazing! LOVE this! Goes perfectly along side your main breakfast dish =) -Corned Beef Hash - last but not least, one of the best corned beef I've had. Worth the wait...egg drizzle burger thingamabob totally mind blowing! I have been wanting to try this place for the longest time but every time I go there is an insanely long wait! Finally I said heck with it I'm going to wait for my shot at brunch. And in the end it was all worth it. Heck I would even wait just to get the side of potatoes. Everything down to the little details were all delicious. They even have outdoor seat on attached to the side of the building for all the people that are waiting. The staff is extremely friendly and the food came out in great time. For those who are gluten intolerant there are a couple options for you too! This place is awesome. The BEST pancakes I've ever had! Location: so the building itself is really nice. Plenty of room inside for maybe like 20-30 people. The only downside is that since this place is so popular, the wait is fairly long. My girlfriend and I waited for an hour before being seated. But don't worry. If you're going to wait for anything let it be this! Service: although I felt slightly rushed, I won't let it change my rating for this place considering how great the food was. It may have been because we came towards the end of closing time. Don't get me wrong, the people here are friendly, we just felt slightly rushed. Food: I ordered the plow expecting a typical meal of bacon, eggs, hash browns and pancakes. What I got was far from your typical breakfast! My favorite park about the meal had to have been the hash browns. I don't know how they make them or season them but they were amazing! Super great breakfast! Line outside before they opened. I was alone so I got a seat at the bar, which was great bc you could watch all the guys prepping. They had it down. Fast, friendly service. I had the coconut mochi cake (JUST finished being made, was still warm and was awesome) and the breakfast tacos. Holy crap. Spicy chorizo, sour cream, avocado, cilantro, so good. Popped in by myself on a Monday morning ~8:45AM and was able to immediately grab one of the empty counter seats. Service was prompt and friendly with the staff offering a lint brush to me after seeing me absentmindedly brushing off lint from the white napkin in my black pants. Food was excellent per usual! I always end up ordering the Plow in order to grab a bite of their pancakes but also have their house made sausage patties and amazing potatoes. I've waited a very long time in the past which of course impacts the overall experience here, so I do recommend visiting at a more unusual time if possibly instead of peak weekend brunch hours. read more
