    Vodka pasta Cacio y Pepe
    Valerie R.

Original Joes & Little Original Joes have gained a lot of popularity and I wanted to see for myself if it was as good as everyone says it was. We ordered the spicy vodka pasta, the cacio y pepe & the truffle fries. The cacio y pepe was super creamy and had the perfect amount of cheesy peppery flavor. The spicy rigatoni was not overwhelming and just the right amount of spice. I would definitely recommend to only order the truffle fries if you have more than two people eating. The portions were generous and pricing was fair. I would highly recommend making a reservation, they tend to get busy around the evening.

Bustling on a Friday around 1pm, we had to wait and return 1-1.5 hours to get a table. After walking 10,000 steps around the Marina, we sat down and ordered the spicy rigatoni pasta and zucchini fries to share. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place was so loud, I could barely hear the server.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Overall, it was an al dente meal as the general environment was upbeat. Be forewarned though, the same pasta dish costs $5 more here than the Little Original Joe's in West Portal. Is it because it's on a plate instead of in a box?

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Came here on a Sunday for early dinner at 5pm on Pride Day to get away from the hubbub of town.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Still busy and still attracts the old school SF crowd.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Yeah, the St Francis Yacht club crowd or the elderly 80 year old gentleman escorted by his 25 year old "granddaughter", the Pacific Heights ladies who dine together, a couple families looking for a place to bring their tame kids, etc. Brought 90 year old mom who didn't want stress of SF traffic to go yo Joe's Westlake. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It is good casual refined dining.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I'm still an OJ Westlake fan more. Hamburger is different (not on Sour Dough here) and they give you chips here instead of bread. This is more of a pizza and pasta location than North Beach and Westlake. What always kills me here is the staff here never ever seems to have been to the Westlake location which I think all staff should see just to get the right vibe that should exist at all locations and versions of this venerable eatery. Everything was great. Made reservation on same day for this place which was convenient. I probably go here 2x a year as opposed to the Westlake location.

Bestie has raved about this place multiple times, and I finally got to go with her! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The interior and exterior were beautiful. Seating was really nice! They also have a gorgeous bar, and they were playing wc on their tvs :)[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They start you with complimentary chips, and these were delicious. Fresh, warm, thinly crisp, and nicely salted, I could snack on these all day. We then got the zucchini fries which were ADDICTING. I could also eat these all day. Definitely a must try, they were even more delicious with the basil aioli and lemon. I don't usually like cheese that much but the parmesan with these fries were delish. The spicy rigatoni vodka was my favorite entree we got. It was so creamy, pasta was al dente, and I loved the spicy kick to it. It was spicer than other spicy rigatoni vodka pastas I've had before. My second favorite was the PB&A pizza. I just love prosciutto and arugula on pizza, and they used a truffle oil too! I love truffle taste :p The crust was a little too thick though. My least favorite was the mafalde cacio e pepe. It was just way too creamy and cheesy for my liking. But I think if you're a fan of cheese, you'd enjoy it. I'd love to try the drinks next time, they all looked beautiful. Servers were sweet!

Definitely recommend making a reservation ahead of time so that you don't end up waiting for a long time. There's almost always a wait. We came here for brunch and there are brunch exclusive items. The zucchini fries are a must order, the portion sizes are gigantic. The pizzas are alright very thick crust, would recommend ordering other entrees. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Amazing upscale chill ambiance. Love the casual yet fancy vibes.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

[[HIGHLIGHT]]A casual lunch place that made our day happy! It is American Italian style food with very nice atmosphere/cool vibe![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Every item on the menu looks amazing! We ordered couple famous items and ordered their off menu pizza, quality and quantity are great! This place has long waitlist, make sure you reserve a spot while visiting!

As the name implies.... A littler version of original joes! Great neighborhood vibes with small bites that kinda don't justify its pricing vs. the regular original joes. Keeping this simple: Complementary potato chips instead of their delicious staple of bread & butter. Great for their drinks & casual atmosphere; definitely catered for after-work crowds / business conversations. Decor is gorgeous and looks beautiful as you stroll along chestnut street after shopping! Chicken parm was somehow very cheesey yet the chicken was just okay; comparing it to the original joes counter part (they don't pair entrees with a side so you aren't getting your value). Would probably only drop by again for their drink offerings next time! Skip the food & save time.

I came here for my birthday on Saturday around 3pm (with a reservation) and had a great time! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Ambiance was fun and stylish and the game was on so people in the restaurant were really excited and had high energy.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] It took a little bit of time for our waitress to take our order so I think maybe a manager realized and took it instead which was good. I understand it was busy, but there was a lot of staff working so I don't think they were understaffed or anything. Anyways, that's not why I took a star away! We ordered plenty of food for 4 people: shaved brussels salad, zucc fries, truffle fries, truffle pasta, fusilli pesto, the tri pizza, and a bread pudding since it was my birthday! The entrees were the stars for sure. I had the pesto pasta and it was easily everyone's favorite dish of the night, but it does have a very strong basil taste in case anyone is sensitive to that. The pizza was good too: spicy, savory, and an EPIC crust. The truffle pasta was creamy and umami. The bread pudding isn't anything to write home about, but was pretty good. Now the 4/5 is because of the starters. 1st of all, truffle fries are spectacular PLEASE get these over the zucchini fries. Do not get the LOJ ranch-- not worth. While the zuccs were okay, there was not a whole lot of flavor. I almost feel like onion strings would be better. Though the sauce that came with the zucc fries was yummy, they were just over-shined by the truffle fries. A little sad about it tbh And the shaved brusslels, while so aesthetically pleasing, was soooo dry. It seemed not dressed at all and I love love love a brussels salad. I think it just needed a little more something. One more drizzle of oil? Maybe a little white balsamic? It was just underwhelming unfortunately and that was the other item I came specifically to try. Overall, a good meal with friends with good service. The dishes I came to try may have been a little underwhelming and a little disappointing, but LOJ made up for it with the truffle fries, pasta, and that delicious crust on their pizza!

Never disappoints. Recently took out of town friends to LOJ for lunch and they loved it! I had the Chicken Parm Saltimbocca and it was delicious! They had Garlic Parmesan Chicken Tenders and the Chicken Cesar Wrap, both were very satisfied.

We had an excellent lunch yesterday! We had a reservation and were seated right away. Our server came over immediately and got us water and took our drink orders. The food came out quickly and was delicious! We got different salad wraps as well as pizza. The French fries were perfectly crispy. I highly recommend making a reservation.

LOJ has got to be my new favorite spot in the Marina. Zucchini fries, truffle fries, Caesar salad, steak, all paired with the crispiest Diet Coke of my life. This meal brought me so much joy. I couldn't help but observe the tables around me to mentally note my order for next time. Our incredible server was so attentive and took care of us through the whole night, although the restaurant was bustling into the last hour of service. I was able to snag a last minute dinner reservation on OpenTable and check in was a breeze. Shortly after checking in, we were seated in a beautiful booth. The restaurant is stunning with a regal-meets-modern ambiance, and a balance of bright yet moody lighting. The bar towards the back wall of the restaurant is just as gorgeous. The playlist was also a 10/10!

I've been coming here for years now, and it's one of those places that I always find myself bringing people who are visiting San Francisco. It's consistently good, and you always know what you're going to get. One of the biggest standouts for me is the service. Every member of the staff is incredibly professional and genuinely seems to care about the restaurant. It honestly feels like everyone has an owner's mentality. They're attentive without being overbearing, and the experience always feels polished from start to finish. Food wise, I definitely have my favorites. The buffalo wings are an absolute must. I'm not usually someone who loves spicy food, but these are so good that I order them every single time. I always ask for them tossed instead of having the sauce on the side, and they've never disappointed. The fries are another staple. Whenever I bring friends or family here, they're always one of the first things we order. They're beautifully presented, perfectly cooked, and one of those dishes that everyone at the table ends up reaching for. I've also had the carpaccio a few times and have always enjoyed it. The one thing that wasn't for me was the shaved Brussels sprouts salad. I know it's one of their signature dishes and plenty of people absolutely love it, but it just wasn't my personal favorite. That's completely a matter of taste rather than execution. I haven't really explored the pizza or pasta menu because those just aren't dishes I typically order, so I can't really comment on them. If I had one critique, it's that I do think the restaurant is a little overhyped. There's almost always a line out the door, and while I definitely think it's a great restaurant, I personally don't think it's worth waiting forever if you have other good options nearby. That said, it's consistently reliable, which is probably why it's always so busy. For lunch, this is honestly one of my go to spots, especially when I'm hosting people. If some of my other favorites like Mama Noko or Tia aren't open, this is almost always where we end up. In the evenings, I sometimes lean toward those places because I tend to prefer lighter meals and salads for dinner, whereas this menu is definitely a little richer and more indulgent. Overall, though, I've had consistently great experiences here over the years. Great service, consistently good food, a lively atmosphere, and a restaurant I'd happily continue recommending to both locals and visitors.

I've been to Tony's a few times, and the first two times, my hub and I have left raving about it and telling all our friends and fam to get to Tony's. We live in the city so we always take public transportation. Within the last 6 months, I've discovered a gluten and dairy allergy that really took me down. Without getting into the gnarly details, it wasn't fun and I've been grieving pizza since this new discovery. So why would I go to Tony's with this new allergy? Because! I read that they offer a gluten free, dairy free pizza. Insane I know, but yet they offer it and I was PUMPED. When asking the waiter what I can get based on my needs, he responded to me like I was a war criminal. He was a Caucasian gentleman with brown hair. He raised his voice for all the diners to hear about my allergies, told me I couldn't get any pizza, and when I pointed out that there were options, he told me "I'll triple check if this is possible for you." When he came back and confirmed it was possible, he tells me they can do a gluten free pizza with vegan cheese and vegan pepperoni. It felt like the moment he heard 'gluten' and 'dairy,' he mentally categorized me as 'vegan' and stopped looking for ways to make the experience enjoyable. Yikes! Lol I fully recognize - girl, why did you go to a pizza spot with a gluten and dairy allergy? Yes I am not okay for this hahah but also I felt pretty embarrassed and treated really poorly. This experience doesn't reflect Tony's as a whole, but it was just a terrible interaction and that waiter made it real clear that he has no patience for anything that is inconvenient during his work shift.

The garlic and clam was a great taste, but it's hard to enjoy what essentially felt like a slice of focaccia that was reheated for 15 seconds in a microwave. Again, I have to believe something was terribly wrong with our order, especially after looking at the reviews and seeing the Dave Portnoy review. Maybe it was placed in a cold oven? Maybe someone put a bunch of slices in the oven at different times and accidentally pulled out the newest addition to the oven and served it to us?? Is it all hype??!! I also enjoyed their use of fresh basil and the grated Parmigiano-Reggiano they throw on at the end. It's kinda like a new york slice, but a little gourmet? Very tasty for sure. Critiques: First off, each slice is $6-7, which is a bit steep. Maybe times have changed, but this is def not a budget meal, especially if you are eating multiple slices. Second, some of their already crispy slices have been sitting on display for some time and completely cooled down. When these slices are then reheated, there is a bit of an overcooked taste? Lastly, they only have a few topping options and the quantity of toppings on each slice (especially protein) is pretty sparse. I also ordered a slice of the Sicilian as well to mix things up. It was good, but the crust was just a touch too greasy for me.

We ordered the Garden Pizza and the Chicken Garlic Pizza. The Garden Pizza had a light, fresh flavor, and I loved all the vegetables on it. Both pizzas were delicious with thin, wood-fired crusts that were perfectly crisp. For dessert, we shared the lava cake with ice cream, and it was so good! Definitely the perfect way to end the meal. We came on a weeknight around 6:00 p.m. They also do a lot of takeout, so it's clearly a neighborhood favorite. A fun little touch: water is served in repurposed wine bottles. Be sure to check out the secret menu and secret dessert menu displayed inside--you might find something extra to try. I actually picked That's Amore because I attended a Yelp Community event there earlier in the month and was really impressed. That was my first visit, and I knew I wanted to come back. I'm glad I did. Recommend!

When we arrived, our waitress didn't seem very knowledgeable about the beers, but honestly, that wasn't a big deal. My boyfriend ordered his pizza while I was still deciding what I wanted. His pizza came out very quickly, which we had no complaints about. The issue started when we had barely been seated for about 15 minutes. I went to the restroom, and while I was gone, the waitress approached my boyfriend while he literally had pizza in his mouth and a full beer in front of him and told him, "My chef said to charge you." He was confused but said okay because it made us wonder if they were closing. I checked the hours, and they weren't supposed to close until 10 PM--it was barely around 9 PM. I HADN'T EVEN ORDERED MY FOOD YET. I was still planning on ordering my own pizza, dessert, and a drink. Instead, we suddenly felt like we were being rushed to pay and leave. What made the situation even more unprofessional was that she left the payment device at our table for Apple Pay and then actually left the restaurant. She was the only server we had seen around, so we were basically left sitting there with the payment device and no server. We eventually had to get up ourselves to find someone so we could ask for boxes and return their payment device. No one had even asked whether we needed boxes, wanted anything else, or were finished ordering. My boyfriend didn't even finish his beer because at that point the entire vibe had changed and we just wanted to leave. We had driven an hour specifically to try this restaurant and were genuinely excited about it, which made the experience even more disappointing. I completely understand if a server's shift is ending, but there is a professional way to handle that--especially when customers are still actively eating and one person at the table hasn't even ordered yet. Someone could have simply explained that her shift was ending and introduced whoever would be taking over our table. Instead, we were made to feel like we needed to pay and leave. Unfortunately, the service completely overshadowed the experience. We really wanted to like this place, but being treated this way after driving an hour to come here was extremely disappointing and unprofessional.
