This chipotle-esque model for fresh and healthy fast food has got poke places springing up like cray-cray. I've actually tried my fare share of poke bars in California and Hawaii and this one is pretty tasty! I'm a sucker for good prices also, so the two scoops in a hefty box filled to the brim for only $10 is great. Only downside is the ambiance and lack of seating. I took it to go to eat at a friends place in Mountain View. Since it's inside a supermarket and has only 1-2 tables/chairs, not a great place to meet up with friends. I just found this place after looking at the positive reviews. I was not sure about eating here because I don't eat raw fish - I know why did I even consider this place right. To my none raw fish eating counter parts; this place has cooked protein too. They have cooked shrimp, crab, and octopus. Not enough you say? The other ingredients are just as tasty. Seaweed salad, edamame beans, cucumber, corn, mango, avocado, and green onion to list some. In addition, they have crunchy onions, garlic, and other toppings. I have tried a few places around the South Bay and was excited to see one open up in mountain view since I hang out in mountain view quite often. I walked in and thought it was odd that the bar is right by the entrance. Hmmmm....Sanitary?? Anyways, let's talk about the food. The portion was quite small compare to the other places I've been to. Most places I've been to offer 3 scoops instead of 2 for the same price. The tuna didn't look fresh. It was pink so I think it was taken from the freezer. The imitation crab was naked. Most places I've been to mix it with a little mayo. There was only 1 table inside since they share the seating area with another vendor. There were also a few tables outside. Love this place! Poke is super tasty, fast, fresh, and super customizable. Though I always get the same thing, white rice base, seaweed salad, crab, salmon, scallops, cucumber, green onions, corn, onion in a mix of the house sauce + spicy mayo. Interesting concept - it's like a chipotle for poke. Except at Poke Bar, their scoops of protein are really small. It's $9.95 for a small (2 scoops), $11.95 for med (3 scoops) and $13.95 for large (4 scoops). This place is located on Castro street and its inside the convenience/grocery store. I thought it was decent, fresh poke. Great healthy choice when you want to eat something filling, fresh, and healthy. Be aware - they close at 8pm on Friday night (they should really extend their closing time to at least 9pm!). read more

It's located inside a grocery market so there's limited seating. There's seats and tables outside though! I came with my friends because I missed having good poke after living in SoCal for 5 years. I thought it was pretty good. I liked how they offered nachos, I've only been to ones that offered rice. I got 3 scoops for ~$12. Got the seaweed and crab. I wished they offered spicy crab as an alternative! I forgot what I added inside, but I got majority wasabi mayo and a bit of house sauce as recommended by the staff, very friendly staff too I must say. We talked about Giants, A's, and the Raiders. My favorite poke bowl place as of yet and I've tried a couple. They give you generous portions of protein which is the main highlight and their sauce isn't too overwhelming. Their bowls are pretty huge coming in Small, Medium, Large. If you order small you choose 2 proteins, Medium 3, and Large 4. I usually like getting a medium with spicy tuna, tuna, and salmon. The fish tastes really fresh, and so do the toppings. You can choose a carb choice of salad, white/brown rice, nachos, etc. Or do Halfies on two. Seaweed and imitation crab do cost extra though. If you don't get either, they give you more toppings to make up for it, so the choice is yours! My favorite meal on a hot, sunny day. Its pretty good, but the fish to base ratio is a little off - you get A LOT of rice (or whatever base you choose). I am going to enjoy experimenting with different combinations. The service is good. However, the moment I saw Willy M.'s welcoming smile, I felt right at home. Immediately, Willy M. asked how my evening was going so far and told me that if I had any questions about the food to not hesitate to ask him. Willy M. even went the extra mile to help my boyfriend out with the menu, who is not confident in speaking English. Overall, he truly cared about our entire experience. I am so happy this format exists and is spreading in popularity. It is one of the best kinds of restaurants I can think of. Poke Bar is casually situated inside of a grocery store. Portions are good - got a medium and it definitely filled me up! Price is reasonable especially for the area (medium was I think $11), and you can pay extra to add on avocado ($2) and mango ($1). Mango portion was awesome, avocado was less so ($2 for a few slices). All of the other toppings are free, and they even include crabstick and seaweed salad as part of the base when they put in the rice. For a medium you get 3 scoops of protein, and you can mix and match with no extra charge which I love. Ugh I just had dinner and I want a Poke bowl just writing this review. Poke Bar is by far my favorite poke place to go. I will keep it simple, everything is on point: the food, the sauce, the price and the amount. Whenever I visit, there's always a line but it moves pretty fast. The servers are very friendly and I like that you get so many extra stuff (and the sides) with the poke. They have a few base options including rice, salad or chips which you can follow with a variety of fish and topping options. A small was a decent size and the ingredients were fresh. I've ventured out and tried to find poke as good as Poke Bar's, but still nothing has been able to match up to their fresh proteins and their ingredients. Also if you don't want all rice or all salad, you can ask for half rice and half salad to give you the best of both worlds. First timers should really figure out what type of sauce(s) they want on their bowl because that can make or break your meal (I've started to perfect this overtime). Poke bar was a must have for Castro Street in Mountain View. I was very excited for this new addition and anticipated being blown away. The fresh ahi poke and salmon was delicious. Add on the seaweed and salmon roe-- great combination. However, the price for what was offered was a bit too pricey in my opinion. The scoop of salmon was smaller than expected even if every bit tasted great. Relative to the rest of Castro, it was in the normal price range. Another component that didn't sit right with me about the experience was that Poke Bar was situated in a corner of a healthy foods grocery store. Love this Poke Bar, but hate the seating arrangement. This place is located inside Ava's Market. Once you enter, its on your left hand side. Seating, however, is on the outside and it is limited. Don't think you will be able to find a seat if you come here during the lunch rush unless you come early. There are 3 sizes you can choose from... small (2 scoops), med (3 scoops), and large (4 scoops). The small always fills me up. Depending on who serves you, you may get more fish. Pick your carb (brown rice, white rice, or chips) pick your fish(s), pick your sides, and pick your sauce(s). I always go with brown rice with tuna and salmon, pick a few sides and add the house sauce. The fish here is pretty fresh and I've been here enough times to vouch for that. I opted for a medium (3 scoops) sized order with salad, salmon, tuna and octopus. My add-ins included seaweed salad, cucumbers, fish roe, avocado, onion and crispy garlic. As others have mentioned they overdo it on the dressings. I requested a mix of the sweet chili and the house dressing and would have been okay with 1/3 of the amount they poured on my dish. Next time, I will either ask for it on the side or tell them I want it very lightly dressed. I thought the prices were reasonable for what you get in terms of the freshness of the ingredients and the portion sizes. Perhaps I missed it but I wish they had some nori and sesame seeds to add some texture to the dish. We sat at tables inside the market. There is also seating outside but both are limited. This is my go-to for a healthier lunch option on Castro St. The line can get long, because it is popular, but it moves along quickly. The fish is so fresh, not fishy tasting. One small bowl is super filling, and it's great that they add variety by giving you one base (brown rice for me) and two sides (crabmeat and seaweed). The staff is so friendly from beginning of the line to checkout. They really go out of their way to make sure you're satisfied. I also love the option of toppings here. After all, he ask me money for fork and knife, which suppose to be free! I got everything, and still was trying to be nice with him. Lines start building up around 11:20 so i usually get there around 11:25. Gotta beat the opening crowd before the lines gets a little silly. My normal intake is with tuna and scallops with the sweet chilli sauce along with the garlic topping. I tried many combinations but this is my favorite. The veggie and fish seems always be fresh and very tasty. I probably ate here at least 50 times and always satisfied. Even with the long lines, this place worked out the service line so things so as smoothly as possible. I remember the first week they opened and the staff were all new so they were pretty much noobs and didnt really have the grasp of working in the food line. Today, they are robots and get your food prepared asap. If you love poke bowl, this is something you definitly have to try. read more

So we have tried this place 3 times to get an accurate review :) This place is located inside a grocery store, very casual with very limited sitting inside and outside. Ideal for to go. To start, the poke selection is limited, only salmon and tuna. The tuna looks a bit too pink, they normally should be maroon red, although I understand there are different types of tuna. For safety, I picked the salmon and my hubby picked the tuna. Their sauces are pretty tasty especially the wasabi mayo, although, sad to say it was not consistent the last 3 times. The first time was smacking good, nice kick of the wasabi, it was a great balance. The 2nd time was not spicy at all, no kick, 3rd time also not as good :( I do like their tobico topping. Overall, I would come again. Hope they get their wasabi mayo right! If people are getting the wasabi mayo, they expect to get a kick of spicy to it. read more

The workers are so kind and since it was my first time there they gave me all the popular suggestions as I requested. Nope. Used to be my absolute favorite, but has fallen to pieces recently. I got two bowels on DoorDash over the last few weeks. Both times, the rice was literally crunchy. It was almost inedible. I figured it was a fluke the first time and ordered again today. This time, I got about half the usual rice and it was even more crunchy. They also forgot one of my scoops of protein, so I got less food than I paid for. Maybe it's better IRL, but I doubt the crunchy rice would be fixed. I like getting double scoops of salmon and all of the toppings with the ponzu sauce. We visited Poke Bar twice, once for lunch and once for dinner. Lunch was great. The fish looked fresh and they had a good selection. Visiting again for dinner the next day was less satisfying. The fish looked like leftovers from that day's lunch. Ahi was sold out and some of the others didn't look so fresh. I know they only opened last week, so hopefully they can improve their selection and quality throughout the day as they get a better idea of their customer flow. Poke Bar is in the corner of a supermarket. They have a few tables inside and more outside (which is dark and cold at night). Most people seemed to be taking their poke home or back to the office. We used the "house dressing", which is a soy and sesame blend that is more like the traditional Hawaiian-style than the creamy mayo-based sauces. You can spice it up as much as you want with the wasabi. I wish they had soy sauce on the tables so we didn't have to use those disposable packets. read more

Truly the best and freshest poke bowl I have ever had. Came here several times during my week long stay in San Jose, both times were just as delicious. The ingredients were all very fresh and a wonderful mix of flavors. Both times each person making the bowl were great, explained everything and took the guess work out by making recommendations. They forgot to put kale in my bowl and it was too late because I was already the hotel when I found out but even then I didn't mind because everything else was perfect. Highly recommend this place! FYI: it is inside of a grocery store...my first time it took forever for me to find it because I kept passing it not knowing how to find that address.
