Let me start by saying I'm a real fan of Poke Bar in Studio City. I tried the El Segundo location today. It looked like there were a lot of new employees. I ordered the small with kale noodles ($1 extra) and had 2 scoops of the salmon which I have to say were the smallest scoops ever. For $11 it was a pretty skimpy meal. It dawned on me they forgot to ask which 2 sides I wanted until I was back in the office eating it. Will never come back to this location again. Studio City location is the best. read more

This pokè restaurant is the best place in the surrounding area. Their displays of seafood, fresh mixes, sauces and toppings are properly labeled which makes it very convenient for the customer. Every visit is consistent such as their selection and flavors of food, and the service they provide is always great. It's also awesome that they are earth conscious when it comes to their containers, utensils and napkins which tells me that they care beyond customer service. Lastly, I never leave this place thinking whether I should try another pokè place. I love that they have a loyalty card for customers like me who have made them my favorite place to get pokè, giving them my loyalty. I highly recommend this place to anyone in the area. read more

I stayed at the Residence Inn next door for 2 months and this was my go to place for a quick lunch or dinner. I know poke is a huge trend, but I did not eat it till I came out here for training. I've tried some other poke places but this is definitely my favorite 1. I usually order the Firecracker, but I like to change up some things. The fish here is fresh and they have a lot of different sides you can put on with it. You can pretty much make it taste the way you want it too. I usually get the large which is $12.95, but it is a healthy portion. Overall, the service here is great, the food is delicious and the portions are a good size. read more

I came here when on the road, needing a quick and healthy lunch. The fish was fresh and delicious, but the price point was slightly higher than I usually would expect (typically, $12-13 for 4 scoops is what I'm used to but Poke Bar was $15). I liked the toppings offered, but I wasn't thrilled by the ponzu sauce. It was a little bland..or maybe watered down? Not sure exactly, but it needed a little extra punch of something! Poke places are a dime and a dozen in SoCal but it's always nice to see the competition try to out-do one another and think of little ways to be better than the rest. Poke Bar is another one of those interesting competitors and although it's a little pricier/smaller than its competitors, the flavor and choices are solid. Pros: +Love that for the base, there are options like kale and kale noodles (extra dollar) to get with the poke. +The ingredients at the very least taste fresh and delicious and there's a fair amount of sides to put. +Friendly sauce sheet with combos all-around. +Staff is helpful/friendly. The decor is also oddly endearing with a mixture of wood and weird knick-knacks that you wouldn't expect to see in a poke shop. +Parking is plentiful in its private lot. Seating is plentiful. Not busy (at least for dinner) +/- Do think it's a bit on the pricier side. For 3 scoops, you're already at about $11+ with tax. It looks a little on the smaller side too although I personally think it was still filling. +/- Lacks a bit on the variety of fish/flavors compared to some of the other poke shops around All-around, not a bad Poke competitor to stop by. read more

There is a reason that this spot has a line out the door as soon as lunch time hits. Their poke bowls are very flavorful and their portions are fair. I came here once, fortunately right before the lunch rush, and was very impressed with the quality of the food. Only thing is - parking! I know it's out of the restaurant's control so I'm just warning customers. If you come during the lunch rush, just be prepared that parking can be difficult and you may have to just park nearby and walk over. read more

Stopped by here before heading to the airport to fly back home as you can't go too wrong with poke. So this poke spot is like every other poke spot which is like Chipotle style where you pick and choose your protein, sides, and such. I liked that the fishes were very fresh and the sides were not bad! Having an insane amount of poke spots in NYC that I've tried before, this is considered one of the more generic poke spots if compared to back at home. I've been to many poke spots in NYC that offer their own twists to their poke in order to stand out (in a good way). I guess the competition out here is real. But overall this poke spot is really solid. At first my bowl was a little under-seasoned, but I asked for extra Spicy Mayo and mixed the sh*t out of my bowl and it was delicious. On paper, there's nothing out of this world about poke bar compared to some of its competitors. There is a bit more protein than average (tuna, spicy tuna, salmon, albacore, octopus, scallop, shrimp, tofu) but the sides/toppings, and sauces are about par, and your bases are the same (brown, white, and/or salad mix). And it doesn't matter if there are more protein options if they can't stand on their own. Fortunately they do. Poke Bar simply does Poke Bowls well. The protein options are very tasty and distinguished e.g. spicy tuna example really gives a kick. Some poke bowl places have fish with gooey texture, poorly cut, and/or fishy scent. Others mask deficiencies in quantity or quality by over saucing or gimmicky burrito wraps. Poke Bar has nothing to hide because it's all excellent. read more

Finally, a poke spot near my work! Located next to 7-11 and Farmer Boys, Poke Bar offers some variety into the available lunch options. I ordered a medium and it was more than enough of a serving size. It came with 3 scoops of fish (I got tuna, spicy tuna, and salmon), a ton of topping choices, and 2 sides (I got "crab meat" and seaweed salad). They have a sign with recommendations on how to combine some of the sauces they offer. Would be a 5-stars but I don't think the quality of the fish is quite at that level yet, though still pretty good. read more

Great in theory, not so great in execution. Customizing a poke bowl seems like a dream-come-true, but it just doesn't work they way you want. The tuna is bland, the scallops are slimy, and the octopus is chopped into tiny little bits that look like someone pre-chewed them. The sauce is dumped on and mixed to order, which means it barely coats everything and leaves very little taste. In a day and age where everyone is allergic to everything, make-your-own restaurants are making a killing, but customization should be limited to sandwiches and pizza. And I really wish they'd marinate their fish. I don't care if there are less sauce choices; I just want them to have some flavor. read more

Came in here to grab some poke to go before my flight back home. I like how this place is organized, with the line going from section to section and into the checkout smoothly. Each section is divided between different people, which, although may be efficient, is kind of weird. I think that is why the service quality was lacking, you feel the pressure to move on to the next section quickly and don't have much time to think about what you want in your bowl or ask questions. My sister had visited Cali a few months earlier and said that the best thing she had was a poke bowl - I learned poke is raw salad served in Hawaiian cuisine - so I knew I wanted to try it before I left Cali. Elena and I went to crossfit to get our sweat on - then we did a bit of shopping before we got really hungry. Elena has been to Poke bar, it was close so where we were so we hit up poke bar around lunch time. There was a bit of a line and the menu on the wall, easy to read and understand. You can either choose the pre-set menu or create your own bowl. We both created our own - how it works: First, you choose your base & size: small (2 scoops), medium (3 scoops), large (4 scoops) and your choice of white rice, brown rice, salad or nacho. You can do half half if you want. Then you choose your protein: tuna, spicy tuna, salmon, albacore, octopus, shrimp, scallops, tofu. Next, you choose your mix-ins: crabmeat, seaweed, cucumbers, onions, corn, cilantro, jalapenos, pineapple, ginger. Then time for some flavor: house dressing (recommended for first timers), wasabi mayo, ponzu, spicy mayo, sweet chili Lastly, toppings!! crispy onion, crisply garlic, peanuts, dried seaweed.... I went with 2 scoops of salmon - and did half brown rice, half salad then got all the mix-ins except for seaweed and jalapenos. For sauce, it was my first time so I went with house dressing with a tiny squirt of house mayo and for the toppings - I got everything. You can get some wasabi and soy sauce on the side too. Wow did it ever look good, I really couldn't wait to dig in. To me, it was like deconstructed sushi rolls - absolutely AMAZING!!! Fresh salmon, tasty sauces and mix-ins....so delicious. I was sad that I waited till my last day in Cali to try poke - otherwise I would have poke bowls for lunch and dinner. So ono and friggin' addicting! This the freshest poke and best value for your buck in the South Bay. For lunch poke bowl, get 1 scoop of tuna and 1 one salmon and mix with sweet onion, scallion, cucumbers & edamame (if you want extra protein) and toss with shoyu, sesame oil, and their magical house dressing. Top with seaweed salad, crab, masago, and crispy onions, and top your rice with furikake seasoning. If you want spicy, I recommend adding sriracha on top, rather than mixing in, to add variety to each bite. The 3-scoop bowl is HUGE, so be warned. So good...need more poke now! read more

Veggies were fresh and the ponzu sauce was nice though. We sat at the back of the restaurant and it was kind of dirty and run down back there with old cash registers, buckets, and boxes stashed in the corner and a wall half painted. RIP to the pizza spot that was here before, and good luck to this new poke joint that's taken its place. For the area, there is a lackluster amount of Japanese restaurants. I'm pretty critical on a few points when it comes to "sushi" or sashimi. One, if the fish smells like fish, then it's worth passing on. The second, is that most Japanese restaurants are actually not run by Japanese, and I'm hypercritical on the flavors when I find out who's running the show. In this case, the fish is fresh and the Korean owners/staff got the flavors right. For just over 10 bucks, you get two scoops of rice (slightly undercooked aka lack of proper water & poorly plopped into my container), and 3 fish options. I picked spicy tuna (which they made a separate scoop of since it's already seasoned), salmon and tuna. The portions are okay enough for the price, but it would've been nice to have a better fish ratio when it's all put together. What makes this spot clever is the fact that they allow you to choose your mix ins (think Chipotle without the ecoli outbreak). You pick sauces, veggies, etc. to make your poke as custom as you want. With two sides to pick from as well, it's a great healthy concept. The side portions are a bit skimpish, so maybe they'll improve that at some point. They've got some kinks to work out, but the flavors are on point and I'll definitely be back. read more
