We went to poke sushi for no particular reason... just felt like poke. I'm so glad we did! The fish here is SO FRESH TASTING!! I'm sooo picky about my poke and always get nervous trying a new spot. I'm so happy that this restaurant is so nice! The only reason it's a 4 star review is because I wish there was a little more customization available for the sauces. It's just sort of a range of spice level. Poke Sushi is new and around the corner from my house, so I had to give them a try. It was my civic duty to do so. The restaurant is very clean and laid out well. The cashier is right in front of you when you enter, with tons of seating and a self-serve water area to the left. Nothing like Poki Ya where you are practically sitting in the line if you eat inside (no hate Poki Ya, I still love you!). I loved the paper ordering system--so much easier than going down an assembly line and yelling over a glass partition. Our food took a while, but when it arrived, it was beautifully put together. I ordered my bowl with the garlic ponzu, which didn't really make it on the fish, but was all over the rice instead, which I reached after I had eaten most of the toppings already. The sauce was just okay. I will definitely try a different one next time, and there will be a next time since the price is decent ($8.95/bowl) and the owners are very sweet. Been to a lot of poke bowl joints in Orange County and the surrounding area. Of every place I have visited I would say Poke Sushi in the City of Orange is by far the worst. The fish was thinly sliced and not fresh at all. Bowl was small and had little flavor. Spicy tuna roll I had as an additional order was disgusting. I built my own poke bowl and it was super simple ordering. There were a few items that I was not familiar with on the build your own list, but they conveniently had a description and pictures next to the register of the toppings (seaweed salad, masago, furikake, etc) and sauces (ponzu, garlic ponzu, gochujang). Place seems pretty large and can hold a lot of people. When I arrived at 5pm it was mostly empty with only 3 other people there but gradually got busier as I was leaving. I went here when it first opened many years ago. Tasty bowls with good toppings. The last couple years I have noticed the portions decreasing significantly. Not just the portion of the fish but also the sides. A bowl used to be more than enough with extras. Then preCovid the seaweed salad got cut in half & the fish portions decreased. I went back this week just because it's the closest poke place to me and was surprised that the fish portions are even less. I asked for an extra scoop of fish cuz I was famished and even with the four scoops I demolishedI the bowl and was still hungry. I think they believe 3 pieces equals 1 scoop. I must have come in a bad day. I ordered a 2 salmon, tuna and albacore bowl fully loaded with garlic sauce and added the avocado. No amount of garlic could hide the Grey tuna that smelled a few days past the point where it would be safe to cook. I tried to find something redeeming and ended up throwing out my food to avoid what surely would have been food poisoning. I came here last week with some friends while we were visiting from San Diego. We were craving sushi and decided to check on Yelp to see, which spot has the best reviews. This place popped on the top of our list so we headed over no questions asked. Their layout is very simple and service was excellent. The staff was very attentive and accomodating to my friends and I. We had a few of their rolls: Caterpillar, Washington and Baked Scallop rolls. They were made very well and tasted amazing. Rice was proportioned with the fish and vegetables perfectly. Their pokebowl was also very satisfying. Their miso soup was also satisfying and was only $1!! Other places are usually $3.00 to $3.50. They also had macaroon ice cream sandwiches for dessert, which we had to get. Overall experience was 5/5 stars hands down. We were very thankful to have come across this place. The prices were very fair and cheap and honestly wish they had a place like this in San Diego. Food came out very fast yet the quality of everything was exquisite. The poke is good - good flavor and decent choices for toppings. I did wish I got more of each topping but it wasn't a huge deal. When we walked in the lady told us to fill out a card to order our poke which made it easy. Similar to ordering at a sushi bar. It didn't take long to get our order out which was nice! I think a few improvements could be made to the the location. It felt like the a/c was turned off and it was a pretty warm inside so that's something that kind of turns me off from eating inside the restaurant, especially having fish. They only offer canned sodas which is kind of a bummer for me personally. All in all I think I would try again. I think the food is tasty enough to come back and try new combinations! read more

It was neatly prepared and looked generally like the photos that others have posted, but the portion size was very small, as others have mentioned. It was tasty overall, though. So I got a poke bowl with 1 scoop of yellowtail, 1 scoop of tuna, and 1 scoop of salmon; the fish did not taste fresh at all, but I was a dummy and decided to eat the bowl. Fast forward to one hour later and my stomach is in agony resulting in my incapability to climb and hangout with friends. I've only tried one other Poke place and that restaurant was at the Main Place Mall. I can tell you right now that the quality of this restaurant was 90 percent better. I ordered a regular Poke bowl with just Ahi tuna, crab meat and whatever other things it came with. I also ordered a crunch roll since this restaurant also serves sushi. We got a decent amount of Ahi tuna in the bowl. I was quite surprised by this but they were really skimpy with the fake crabmeat which I was bummed about because that's my favorite part. Overall the Ahi tuna was fresh and delicious with the spicy mayo mixed in. Yummy! I was not that impressed with the crunch roll. I've had better. I love this place. I've been coming here for 2 member stamp cards worth of months. :-) I get the poke bowl with tuna and salmon. The garlic ponzu is the best, and the spicy mayo is very good. I think as far as poke places go, the size is reasonable for the price. I've also had what I think is called the seared salmon pieces (on rice), which were really good. I like how you fill out the form to specify your poke and toppings, I think it's faster than walking through and instructing the person on each item you want. The lady who works the cash register knows me and is very nice and helpful. read more
