Pan fried pork and chive dumplings
    Rick K.

We came by here at midday on a Friday. Parking was a bit tight in the small shared lot. A friendly server greeted as we came in the door. We were immediately given menus and our drink order. taken. The restaurant was clean and bright. We ordered the house chow mein and the pan fried pork and chive dumplings. The server brought us complimentary crispy noodles and kimchi while we waited on our food. It would have been nice if a sauce and/or spicy mustard had accompanied the noodles. Our wait for our food was relatively short. The chow mein was very good. Though, a bit on the oily side. Generous amounts of chicken, shrimp and beef were in this dish. The pan fried dumplings were very good. They were nice and crisp. This was the first time I had this type of dumpling. The service was outstanding. Our server was very attentive to our needs, appropriately checking on us throughout our meal. Prices were meh. When you are ordering everything à la carte, it gets rather expensive. A lunch special or combo plate would be nice for solo diners and those just grabbing a quick bite for lunch and unable to deal with a bunch of leftovers. I would like to return to try some of their other offerings.

Came with my wife and daughter for dinner, as my daughter's preschool is near by and I have been curious. Parking lot is on the smaller side, I had a little difficulty finding a spot. The restaurant wasn't full of customers yet, but about half filled with a few tables pushed together with a reservation sign. The interior is small, but open, clean and welcoming. The staff were working with a sense urgency, yet with friendliness and efficiency. They brought us water fairly quickly and took our orders a little later. Food came out timely, not too fast, not too slow. As it should when they properly cook the food to order (finish cooking?). The Xiao Long Bao was good. Not as "soupy" as I prefer, but the flavor was great. The skin was springy. The pan-fried vegetable dumplings were good. I'm not usually a fan of "pure" vegetable dumplings because there's usually too much mushrooms. This was a great filling ratio, would order again. My wife ordered the Mapo Tofu, she appreciated that it was vegetarian, since she cannot eat pork. She praised that it was flavorful and not overpowered with pure pickiness We'll likely come back.

A yummy hole in the wall spot, Yum Dumpling is a fitting name for this establishment. My friend and I were craving dumplings and decided to give this place a try. The restaurant was pretty packed when we walked in, definitely a good sign, but we're immediately seated. You're given complimentary kimchi and crispy noodles to start. Nice to munch on. We opted to order the chili oil wontons, vegetable dumplings, and shrimp and chive dumplings. Everything was delicious, fresh, and flavorful. The skins of the dumplings are my favorite with a nice chewy and bouncy texture. Yum dumpling is going on my recommended list!

I was expecting another dumpling house with the same flavors but this restaurant serves up more. Their flavor fusions are fun and exciting. Not just the same old dishes. Yet they do provide traditional dishes with flavors you recognize as well. For me tho it was the fun and different flavors they offer. The restaurant is well maintained and clean. Plenty of parking. The service was very friendly and they are happy to explain anything on the menu and recommend items to your taste. I will be back!

I first visited Yum Dumpling last week, and it was so good that I've already been back for a second visit! The dumplings here are absolutely incredible super juicy, flavorful, and honestly even better than some of the more well-known dumpling spots. Every bite was packed with flavor, and you can really tell they're made fresh. The portions are also very generous, so you definitely get amazing value for the price. We also tried some shrimp dishes, and I was seriously impressed. The shrimp were HUGE, super fresh, and perfectly crispy. The walnut shrimp was especially delicious -- easily one of my favorites. What I really love about this place is that it's a family-owned restaurant with a wide variety of dishes. From different kinds of dumplings to noodles and more, there's so much to try and everything we had was satisfying. The staff were friendly and welcoming, which made the whole experience even better. If you live nearby, this is a must-try spot !!! I highly recommend it. I already know I'll be coming back here often!

Small parking lot shared with pizza shop and couple of other businesses. Ample seating for a small restaurant. Good food, my favorite being the chow fun. The char from the wok made it super tasty. Service was excellent with servers checking on us often.

Dumplings were yummy! Soup dumplings, pork and chive dumplings, and Mongolian beef were all good. Service was good as well. Restaurant is small and so is the parking lot. Would come back to try other dishes

Went to try this place today, i keep seeing it by my house and glad i did. We went with the combination chow fun, combination fried rice, green onion pancake, cucumber salad, spam masubi and the green beans. Everything was excellent, my favorites were the chow fun and the green beans. The fried rice was ok, but not as good as it looks. I was looking forward to the cucumber salad but it's soggy, taste is awesome but the look make it less appealing and not very likeable. The geeen onion pancake was really good and crispy. Portions are good, I'm not a fan of the dishes they serve they serve the food in but that's just me. Service was awesome, not too many people in there and our server was helpful and the food came out pretty fast. Lots of seating and doesn't have the funky smell the precious business that was there had. All in all, if you keep it to 2-3 dishes, this place will do the job.

Ordered to go, the inside was really nice and it looked like one of those traditional asian restaurants. the workers were moving quick and could tell they just wanted to serve you the food was amazing! but beware the cucumber salad was quite spicy for me and I am pretty good with spice. But it still was super good

Nice family owned spot, we were looking for a pace with noodles and dumplings and this was perfect and not too far away. They seem to be newly opened and are in a nice cozy interior and I quite liked the ordering system using a dry erase marker on a laminated menu to mark what you want. Service was great and we were greeted with smiles and warned of warm bowls and plates. Shrimp and Pork wonton with chili oil: good little appetizer, i liked the splash of green on it from the green onions and had a good home made taste. Flavored Beef Tendon and Golden Prime Beef Soup: The spicy broth was excellent, savory and rich with a pleasant spice level. Noodles were good and for both dishes I loved having something green in the bowl to make it more appetizing. XLB + Pan Fried Buns: The thing we noticed with both of these were there was very little broth/soup inside which is one of the main reasons to order these dishes. The pan fried buns were still soft and not all the way crispy on bottom. Salt and Pepper Fried Fish: I love this dish so much and will order it when I think someone will make it right. Their version is very nice with fluffy fish inside and a crunchy slightly spicy outer layer. We had a mistake on our receipt where they only billed us for 2 soups when we got three and I happily corrected it and paid the proper amount to not "steal" from them. Thank you for the good food.

Yelp Elite here and finally tried Yum Dumpling and it did not disappoint. Starting with the food because that's really why you come here. The chicken soup dumplings were a standout since most places only offer pork. The broth was rich and comforting. My favorite dish was easily the shrimp and pork wontons in chili oil. They were packed with meat, super flavorful, and had just the right amount of heat. The kalbi was juicy and well marinated. I also appreciated seeing beef chow fun on the menu since it's not super common. The signature flavored beef noodle was another highlight. Tender beef, chewy noodles, and a broth that was bold and full of flavor. The shrimp fried rice was simple but solid and tied everything together nicely. Service was friendly and welcoming. Food came out at a good pace and the staff were helpful when it came to recommendations. The space itself is cozy, clean, and inviting. A great spot for a casual meal where the food really shines. Overall, a solid spot if you're craving dumplings and noodles. Definitely a place I'd come back.

Bottom Line Up Front: Yum Dumpling is a pleasant surprise, delivering great Chinese food with good service in a clean setting. The Background: I rarely go out to have Chinese food in Orange County because I find most places to be average at best. Normally if I have a craving, I drive up to the Rowland Heights area for authentic Chinese food. So going to Yum Dumpling I had some apprehensions. Thankfully, I had nothing to fear. The Food: My wife and I ordered popcorn chicken to start and the beef tendon noodle soup and sweet-and-sour tenderloin as entrees. The popcorn chicken pieces were quite large and juicy while the breading on the outside was crispy and perfectly seasoned. The noodle soup was flavorful with just the perfect amount of szechuan -- a little kick but not so spicy that it numbs your mouth. And the sweet-and-sour tenderloin was solid. The batter was a little softer than I would like; I prefer it a little crispier to balance out the syrupy goodness so that each piece wouldn't get soggy. But still, the flavors were there and the meat was moist and tender. The Setting: Brightly lit with orange walls and light colored wooden tables, the place is clean and has a warm, inviting atmosphere. However, for a sit-down restaurant, it's a little on the smaller side. There's a small counter for 2 people, about 4 tables for 4 people, and 4 tables for 6 people. And with limited space, it would be difficult to combine tables for parties of 8 or more. Oh, and I found it odd for a sit-down restaurant with beautiful bowls, plates, and utensils to serve drinking water in cheap, disposable plastic cups. The Location: It's on busy Chapman Avenue in a small strip mall with a small parking lot with limited spots. Plus, each parking spot is a little narrow, so if you drive an SUV or truck, it'll be a tight squeeze getting in and out if your door. The Prices: Maybe I'm slow or living in the past, but the cost of food is creeping up everywhere, and Yum Dumpling is no exception. Prices range from $7 to $10 for appetizers, $10 to $20 for side dishes, and $14 to $20 for entrees. Our dinner for two came out to be about $52 with tip -- a little higher than expected for a place that serves water in a plastic cup. The Service: Our server was friendly and knowledgeable. Unfortunately, he was basically the only one working the entire floor. There was a female server too, but we rarely saw her. This meant a little slower service than expected given the relative size of the place. The Conclusion: While not flawless, Yum Dumpling serves up tasty and authentic Chinese food (a rarity in Orange County) in a clean environment with friendly service. We look forward to returning and trying the other dishes.

I grew up coming…read morehere for family weddings and weekend dim sum, and it's still one of my favorite places to satisfy that craving. The restaurant has definitely evolved over the years. It feels like a younger team is running things now, making the service more efficient, while you'll still recognize some of the longtime employees that have been here for years. It's nice to see the tradition continue without losing what made this place special. Parking can be hectic since it's in a busy plaza, so I highly recommend arriving before 9:30 AM on weekends. The restaurant fills up fast, and the energy is always lively. Seating can be a little close for comfort at times, and you may end up dining right next to another party, but that's all part of the classic dim sum experience. The dining room is spacious and can easily accommodate parties of any size--from a table for one to large family gatherings of 20+. One change I noticed is there are fewer dim sum carts roaming around now. Instead, you can order most items directly from your server, which honestly makes it easier to get exactly what you're craving. The beverage cart still comes around with fresh fruit drinks, coffee, tea, and yes... even beer at 9 in the morning if that's your thing! If you want both dim sum and their lunch menu, plan to arrive around 10:30 AM. Lunch isn't served until 11:00 when the kitchen shifts over, so you can enjoy both in one visit. Our table was filled with all the classics. Such as har gow, siu mai, rice porridge with Chinese donut, and plenty more (definitely ordered more than we could finish). Don't forget to order the almond drink with the puff pastry as soon as you sit down because it takes about 30 minutes to prepare and is absolutely worth the wait. We also tried their newer weekend special, the fried tofu skin with shrimp, which my husband really enjoyed. One last tip: don't forget to check in on Yelp to save on wait time! Great service, authentic dim sum, and flavors that have stayed consistent for years. Seafood Cove 2 never disappoints and will always be my go-to spot whenever I'm craving dim sum.

This is a chain and I've been to the ones in LA and always enjoyed the food there. I was happy to see one open up in the OC. The interior is very unassuming and is next to a bulk sized grocery store for Asian food. We tried a variety of items: Shrimp egg rolls, fish with seaweed, fried pork buns, Shanghai rice cakes, and salt and pepper pork. All the items were really tasty except for the fried pork buns - don't get those. The bun part was very mushy and you didn't get any soup inside. The fish with seaweed and salt and pepper pork chops were excellent. Very flavorful and not too salty. I would definitely get those again. Prices are very reasonable and portions are generous compared to what you would find in Irvine for similar quality. I would come back!

The prices on these dumplings were pretty decent and affordable. We ordered, house special beef noodle soup, juicy pork dumplings, and scallion pancakes! Overall, I'd say everything was pretty solid and would recommend this place if you love dumplings!

We ordered 3 "kids meals", which was a Pikachu bun fried chicken sandwich. But, it was served all on one place with fries. Not sure why they weren't plated separately with 3 servings of fries instead. It felt like they were cutting corners. We couldn't finish the sandwiches. They had too much mayonnaise on the oily fried chicken. They even gave us extra mayonnaise on the side. The fried buns were not crunchy. They were rubbery and hard to bite into. The bottom was spongey/soggy-like. We ended up only eating the meatball inside. We didn't enjoy them at all. Inside was hot and humid. There wasn't any air-conditioning or fans running/offered. The staff interaction was minimal. The only times were when we entered, they told us to pick anywhere to sit, and when they came out with the food. Everything else was done on your mobile device.
