I'm glad I gave this place a try. It didn't seem like much when we first went in but it was absolutely delicious. For this place, parking can be found in the lot behind it. Make sure you part in the right parts because some parts are reserved. The menu is very simple. When I first saw the prices, I was shocked because it was so much higher than other poke places I've been too. However, after I looked at all the free toppings they give I understood why. I got a regular ($9.50) with white rice and spicy tuna (extra $1.00). I was a bit shocked because spicy tuna isn't usually charged extra. For my sauce, I chose siracha mayo which wasn't as spicy as I thought it would have been. You can get additional sauce for 0.50. As mentioned earlier the reason for the price being so high is that they include many toppings into the bowl already: salad, avocado, cucumber, onion, masago, fried onion, and furikake. You can adjust which toppings you want and don't want. They also have additional toppings you can add for free. They have another list of toppings where the first item is free and any additional for $1. Taste wise, it was very different from other poke palces I've been too. As I said most places don't already have toppings included in the bowl hence the price hike. The spicy tuna was also very good and was a good portion of meat. If you're looking for a poke place that will actually FILL you up, I definitely recommend giving this place a try. read more

I work in montebello but was looking at poke places on Yelp and happened to come across this one that was in Alhambra which said 15 min away..yea more like 20 min away lol but I got there and the employees there were very helpful and friendly in helping me order because it was my first time there. I opted for the medium bowl w 1 ahi and 2 salmon, soba noodles/rice combination. I did the spicy Mayo and ponzu lime like the employee suggested....so delish! I added, crab, seaweed salad, edamame, crispy onion, furikake, cucumbers, avocado, light masago. I asked for extra crispy onion and seaweed salad. Total was $15.00 and so worth it! The portions of fish are perfect and just the entire combination was so delicious! I called and had to thank them because I really really enjoyed it! I love this place. I give it an excellent rating because of the overall environment, the food, and the service. So I don't see a point not to give them a five star rating. First of all, the PARKING is easy. Beside the streets, there's also a long parking lot at the back of the store. Most of the times parking is easy! The store isn't big, but it's never too busy that you can't find any tables either. And there are bunch of card and board games on the shelf against the shelf free to grab for entertainment. So in essence, it's not only just a restaurant. People can chill and have fun while or after they eat. The FOOD is amazing here. I love the flavoring of their greens and the quality of the meat, especially the salmon. I usually get all 3 scoops for a large. Go with the brown rice. Though it's extra, the texture of the brown rice is good, and of course, healthier as well! The medium and large size almost looked the same. But the large size's box is a wider in depth. read more

Ordered 3 poke bowls and 2 thai teas for myself and coworkers. All three pokebowls had complaints of being under seasoned/bland, and my personal bowl was slightly fishy. The two Thai teas were ridiculously over milked, resulting in a pale pale orange..lacked any flavor of tea. read more

3.5 stars Hm... I was shocked when I opened my box. I felt like it was so less compared the other places. However, look can be deceiving. It was plenty to keep me content. They have a menu on the wall and on the front of the cashier. I ordered the regular size and they serve your protein by the ounce depending on the size you get, not by scoops. They don't make it in front of you. They place the food in a biodegradable box. I had mine to go so the within 20 minutes the box was already soaked. When I opened it, it looked sad. However, when I ate it, it was delicious! They mixed the sauce all over my salad. They gave me very little crab meat and I have no idea if they gave me my avocado unless they made it into a sauce? And when I say that, I literally have tried about 100 different poke shops. Anyway I was really hungry and happened to pass by the area so I thought I give it another try. I ordered a large bowl. And it is the most tasteless poke I ever had so far. Just wasted $17. Plain rice and a bunch veggie. Could cut salmon a little smaller but it was just a bunch of big chunk of fish. This is my go to Poke place. It is convenient, fast, high quality, and I know what to expect when I go there. Their 4-step menu makes it easy for a first timer to order. First, pick a base (white rice, brown rice, greens, or noodles), then pick a fish. The third step, the sauce, is my favorite. I like the sesame shoyu and miso honey! Lastly, there are THREE columns full of toppings you can choose from. The first two columns, all for free, get all of them of you want! YUMMM. And in the last column, you can choose one for free. If you're like me, I love that there are all of the different topping options--because then I don't have to choose! They pack everything into a plastic container and it's usually really packed. They don't skimp! Whenever I have gone to Pokestuf, it has never been packed, I usually go straight to the register and order. If you decide to eat there with a friend or two, there are board games for entertainment. They also have boba tea drinks too. There is parking in the back! Alhambra has a huge variety of options when it comes to food, but the addition of a Poke place was a welcome addition. The restaurant is located in an area with quite a bit of street parking but no private lot. The building is a bit small and there's not a ton of seating, but it'll do the job for a lunch crowd. The great thing about this place was that you can basically customize your bowl/meal in just about any way you want. You can choose between different bases (noodles, rice, salad) and fish (tuna, salmon, albacore) and a whole host of add-ons and toppings. At the end of it, you're looking at $12 for a large serving of really fresh and tasty food. This is a must try and some place I will definitely return. read more

Friend brought me here for dinner since poke is everywhere now and I love poke! We stopped by 20mkn before it was closing and the guy was super nice about it. We were able able to order 2 items Togo! He was very helpful with helping us decide what to get in our dishes (it also helps that pretty much almost all the mix ins are included and all you have to choose is soba, rice, lettuce and your sauce. I got all the regular items with soba noodles and siriracha mayo. Some ginger and basically everything that comes with it. It was my first time trying poke with soba noodles so I was very excited! I thought everything was delicious and a good amount. Only thing was mayonnaise mixed with soba noodles was kind of weird, but next time I would try a difference sauce with it. read more

Poke is booming in So Cal. And finally, there's one nearby in Alhambra... and a good one at that! PokeStuf has delicious fresh poke, yes, but in addition, they have some pretty tasty teas/unique sodas and Hawaiian shaved ice; so you can enjoy a truly complete meal in a relaxed atmosphere. First, the poke... you get a combination of ahi tuna, salmon, albacore and striped bass. Recently, they did not have the bass and I was given a tuna/salmon combo which was still great (my 2 favs), but will have to be back for the bass. I assume if it's not available or even below standard, they won't buy it that day. So whatever you're getting will be good. The sauces are varied, choose between 10 to fit your taste (I enjoyed the cilantro yuzu kosho, but want to try sriracha racha garlic and lemongrass ponzu next - love the names and unique combination of flavors.) With 20 different toppings (all included!), you're sure to find a favorite. I appreciated the twist on poke with an assortment of pickled Korean veggies and kukui nuts, along with all the regular favorites like crabmeat, avocado and seaweed salad. They mix this generous portion for you over your choice of rice, salad and/or soba noodles (I got brown rice and noodles.) Next, the extras always bring the best out of a meal for me. And with a variety of soda combos (like mandarin kalamansi -lime colored citrus like a kumquat, but not), honey yuzu jasmine and blood orange jasmine drinks, I wasn't disappointed. Actually the later was my favorite (not too sweet and very refreshingly flavorful.) Finally, for dessert, there's pineapple passionfruit shaved ice (among 7 flavors), if you can find the room (then again, "it's just water!" as my mom would say.) To top off the great meal was the ambiance. It's clean with modern lines and has a casual friendly feel to the place. There's a wall of books and games to bond over with friends, so you don't feel rushed out. It's like a tea/coffee shop with poke (and no coffee ;P) Just don't come on a Sunday or Monday... they're closed! People who make amazing food should take breaks, too. read more

Also, by checking in here, I finally got my Carrot Top Badge (healthy eater), hehehe! ;) I got two large bowls to go for @12.75 each with a $3.00 cherry lime soda - total with tax $28.00. Friendly staffers, answering any questions I had with their variety of sauces, and you also get to sample them first before they make your poki bowl. My bowl was the edaname pesto with brown rice, big three mixture of salmon, ahi and albacore. Served with salad, avocado, cucumbers, masago, fried onion, furikake. From the two free columns - I chose: edaname, kukui nuts (similar to macadamian nuts, but an earthier taste to it) and crabmeat. I dig my bowl - and it is so filling!!! Everything was fresh and delicious. I also liked the cherry lime soda - sweet and tangy. Though $3 seemed a lil pricey to me. My mom's bowl was the same toppings, but I got her sesame shoyu with Soba noodles. She liked it and it was easy to swallow on her sore throat. Though she did mentioned that the salad was a day old since some of it kept poking her throat, and that the noodles were slightly overcooked. Also, the soba noodles aren't the Korean / Japanese noodles I'm used to seeing (dark and thick). They're a thinner version and it's white. However, was still tasty enough to fill her tummy. Overall, I'm a fan of this place! Staffers here are friendly, and they also gave me a sample of pineapple chutney to try. This makes me sad, but I was pretty disappointed with my poke bowl during my last visit. The fish that I had wasn't very fresh. My boyfriend also didn't like his bowl either. He didn't even finish it because he really disliked it. Only good thing I do like about this place is their soba noodle! My boyfriend didn't care much for that either. Was it worth the 25 minute wait to get my food? Probably not...... There isn't much room to sit down. The situation gets exacerbated by people loitering there well after they have finished their meal. Sounds rather inconsiderate,,,,,,, So, I ordered my poke bowl at the register. The first step is to choose what size bowl you want. You can either order the regular size bowl for $9.50 or the large bowl for $12.75. The good thing is that the tax was included in the price which was awesome. I had the regular size bowl which was a decent portion. Then, you choose a base for the bowl. You can choose from white rice, brown rice, soba noodles, or mixed greens. I opted for the soba noodles which were pretty good considering they were the thin variety. Next, they put the fish in the bowl which is a mixture of ahi, salmon, and albacore listed on their menu......you don't really a choice in the matter as it appears as though their fish is already mixed together. The next step is for them to add a sauce. The cashier told me that the most popular sauce was lemongrass ponzu. Finally, they add a mixed amount of toppings on your fish including some salad, radish, cucumber, onion, seaweed salad, crab meat, avocado, masago, fried onion, and furikake. Also, you can add some extra toppings for free. However, I requested some korean pickles but they neglected to give me that. :( Anyhow, I noticed that they saturated my bowl with sauce which was not good. It seems like Poke bowls are the new craze nowadays, so we decided to give this place a try for our first poke bowl experience... My spouse and I had the large bowls ($12.75 each). Mine had the ahi tuna and salmon on a bed of salad, that included some of the (free) toppings on the menu. My spouse had the ahi tuna on a bed of salad + white rice (because most Filipinos cannot live without their daily dose of rice - particularly white rice). Fish and salad were fresh - so no complaints there. Seemed like good quality fish overall. They were out of the siracha mayo and a couple of other sauces, so I ended up going with the miso dressing. Not a great sign when they're out of all the good ones on your first visit, right? Especially on a early Friday evening. My husband really liked his poke/sashimi bowl, but he did not get full. I gave him part of my bowl and he still did not get full. So, soon after leaving this place, we ended up walking across the street to "Al's Italian Beef" to split an Italian beef sandwich. I think PokeStuf is best for lunch and not dinner. Some fish on a bed of salad and/or noddles and a little bit of rice is not going to do it for ya unless you are a size 2. I know the pictures I posted on here shows "a lot" of food on a bowl, but there wasn't all that much substance other than the fish. I came here and it caught me by surprise that they have changed their menu yet again...for the worse. Here are their changes... -Additional 0.50 for extra sauce - really? What if they don't give enough sauce to begin with? We have to pay the extra 0.50 because that person didn't add enough sauce? -Premium toppings are $1 more! -You get one free, but each additional is $1. So, if I want seaweed salad, Korean pickles, and pineapple chutney, crab meat that's an additional $4. There are other "premium toppings." For the extra topping, you would think they would give a larger amount of topping since it's an additional $1, nope, it was still a small amount. My bowl which used to cost 9.50 will now be 13.50 with my toppings. This is a 42% price increase! This is going to end my weekly Pokestuf visit. read more

What I got: Large, white rice, three proteins, Sriracha mayo, and crab salad. The good: Staff is trained to the menu very well. First time there, staff's knowledge and customer service attitude made the experience nice. Shop is clean and bright. The weird: Limited protein selection. There's a long counter with a soda spill grill on it, what's that for? Purchased "to go"... Was in the cab, A/C on... Started smelling fishy... Unsure if it was the crab salad or something like seaweed. No sick, so fish is still "good". The bad: The white rice is not sushi rice, it's plain Asian rice. And it was not cooked well, or it was left out too long... Dried. For large ($15), don't think there was much protein for the price. The conclusion: This is the McD of poke. The menu and overall options is limited and simplified. Due to the limited options, the taste is mediocre. No BAM! I may consider giving this another try, but it will not be a regular poke place. Also, somewhat odd that you cannot see your poke being made...since raw fish is being handled. When will they make a poke shop like Yogurtland. read more
