I came here and it caught me by surprise that they have changed their menu yet again...for the worse. Here are their changes... -Additional 0.50 for extra sauce - really? What if they don't give enough sauce to begin with? We have to pay the extra 0.50 because that person didn't add enough sauce? -Premium toppings are $1 more! -You get one free, but each additional is $1. So, if I want seaweed salad, Korean pickles, and pineapple chutney, crab meat that's an additional $4. There are other "premium toppings." For the extra topping, you would think they would give a larger amount of topping since it's an additional $1, nope, it was still a small amount. My bowl which used to cost 9.50 will now be 13.50 with my toppings. This is a 42% price increase! This is going to end my weekly Pokestuf visit. read more

Having all my other coworkers try out this poke place, we finally decided to give it a try too. During our lunchtime adventure, we drove over after a quick stop at CVS. We arrived around 1:30pm so the lunch time crowd was gone which was perfect for us. We both ordered the regular size, for our base we both wanted the soba noodles! Second, we did a mix of ahi, salmon, albacore. No spicy tuna for us. For mine, I did the lemongrass ponzu sauce and the grand finale, toppings included quite a lot (no skimping) and since my lovely coworker wanted the seaweed, but she already ordered it on hers, I gave her mine. Everything was made quite quickly and I also appreciated that one of the staff remembered our names and remembered to give my seaweed to my coworker. Details are important and I really like when people take the time to remember and follow through with our request. Seems like poke places are the new fad now. Heard a lot of good things about this place so stopped by on a hot Saturday afternoon. Ordering can be a little confusing. The menu is handwritten on chalk board. Choice of regular ($9.50) or large ($12.75), white or brown rice, poke mix (ahi, salmon, albacore), a variety of sauces, and your toppings. Standard toppings are salad, green onion, cucumber, onion, seaweed salad, crab meat, avocado, masago, fried onion, furikake. Additional toppings for free are cilantro, pickled ginger, Korean pickles, kale, roasted jalapeños, edamame, pineapple chutney, sesame seeds, red pepper flakes, and kukui seeds. I went with the large bowl of white rice and sesame shoyu sauce. Standard toppings plus sesame seeds, cilantro, and Korean pickles. First off, the bowl is packed to the max so you're definitely getting plenty bang for your buck. The taste was a little bland at first but I asked for extra sauce and doused my bowl with it which made it exponentially better. The poke was amazing, so fresh and buttery. Not fishy at all. The combination of all the different tastes and textures from the poke, greens, toppings, and rice was like an explosion of deliciousness in my mouth. Another poke in 626, I am not complaining! I like the simplicity of PokeStuf especially if you are not picky with your fishes and add ons. The only things you have to choose are the size (regular or large), base (white/brown rice, soba noodles or mixed greens, and sauce(s). Price is based on size and everything else is no extra cost. I went with a regular on soba noodles with all the fishes, lemongrass ponzu, all the toppings, and edamame, green onion, and sesame seeds. The regular is a good portion with a generous amount of poke. It already comes with mixed greens so unless you really want just greens, I would suggest either the rice or soba as the base for a more fulfilling meal. The toppings and add ons are all great and fresh tasting except it's hard to tell if I really got all of them since they are well mixed/packed in the bowl. The lemongrass ponzu is mild, and I could barely taste it. My poke bowl was very bland compared to my friend who mixed the cilantro yuzu and. sriracha mayo flavors. First impression of this place - cute little restaurant with white interiors (I guess this used to be Ice Que - from what I heard) and it's located at a corner spot with parking in the back. They also have tons of books and games that you can play while you wait or after you eat? The order process is pretty easy - you pick your base (white rice, brown rice, soba noodles, or mixed veggies - you can mix & match!), fish (automatically comes with all fish but you can opt out for some if you want), sauce (there's like 10 sauces to choose from and you can also mix & match if you'd like). It also comes with a set amount of toppings and you can add extras that they have at no additional charge! Ordered - Base - white rice all fish (tuna, salmon, albacore, and bass) Sauce - edamame pesto Toppings - all Extras - green onion, kale, cilantro, and edamame. It does take awhile for your food to come out... probably because each order is so custom and specific that it takes the staff awhile to get each order correct. And my bowl had avocados in it but it was like rock hard.... the avocados were clearly not ripe yet, so that was disappointing. Some of the chunks were good, some were tough so I had to spit it out :( I might come back again if I'm craving it and I'm in the area, and I'll definitely get another sauce cause the edamame pesto was too light for my taste. I came in around 11am and it was pretty empty. The place got crowded as soon as noon time came rolling in. The staff are friendly and helpful in answering any questions you have regarding their menu. First off, you pick a base. They have soba noodles here. Pretty interesting. You get a mixture of their fish, and then choose a flavor. I think this place has a lot of good choices for their flavors. Some of my favorites: lemongrass ponzu, and miso honey. Their cilantro one along with the sesame one is pretty tasty too. You can ask for sauces on the side and you are not limited to one flavor. Last, but not least, you have a selection of toppings/add ons (salad, masago, avocados, etc). They have a large variety of things you can add with no extra charge. For the toppings--they are already included, so you can ask for which ones you don't want in your bowl. As for the "add-on" section, you can choose any additional in that section to be included. Okay. It's $9.50 for a regular; it's kinda filling, but I think there should be a bit more food in there. The presentation is nice. It does take a bit of time for them to prepare your food though. When I was there, there seems to be only 2 people on staff. They give you an okay amount of fish and seemed pretty fresh. However, I could hardly see the toppings in my food aside from the salad. It's like the toppings were barely there. Also, check on the freshness of the avocados. Some of it was a bit off colored. Wow! I'm actually quite surprised about this place. I've had it bookmarked for a while now and decided to finally try it. There's a ton of free parking in the back as well as on the side streets. Upon walking in, I couldn't help but notice how cramped and stuffy this place felt. That's one of the downsides about this place as well as there only being one register. Waited in line for about 10-15 minutes to order then waited another 10 minutes for my food to come out. I ordered a regular bowl ($9.50). First you pick your fish; I went with the ahi and salmon. Next is the base; I got half soba noodles and half mixed greens. The soba noodles were really good and filling! Then you pick your sauce; I got a mix of the siracha ranch garlic and lemongrass ponzu. This had the right amount of sweetness and spicyness. And lastly was a wide range of toppings that were already included in the dish; This included radish, cucumbers, masago, onion, seaweed, crab meat, avocado, and furikake. You can also add additional toppings free of charge too! I got pickled ginger, sesame seed, cilantro, and kukui nuts. My bowl was so delicious and flavorful. I enjoyed it so much that I'm already planning my next visit here. For the price you pay, you really get your moneys worth. Definitely would recommend this place to others. The price wouldn't be such an issue if the quality was higher, but for this quality, $13 is pretty ridiculous. It's enough food to fill you up, but quality quality quality. Finally a poke place super close by!!! I'm so excited to go there all the time!!! Tried this on a Saturday night around 7pm and it wasn't too crowded but an hour later, more people started to come. Parking is free in the rear (I parked at the parking garage in the back to the right)! Located right in the corner, it can be an attention grabber with their bright lights and clear window, can't miss it! There's an option of regular ($8.50) and large ($11.50). It is a bit pricey but I believe it's because of their choices of fishes and how you can get all 4 types even in a regular sized bowl; most other poke places only allow you to choose 1-2 fishes. They have a mix of ahi, big eye(more expensive type of tuna), hamachi(yellowtail), and albacore. The system is like most of the other places; a 1-4 step process. First choose a base (white rice, brown rice or half and half, or soba noodles), second the fish, then the sauce(lemongrass ponzu and srircha mayo are my faves) and lastly the toppings. I believe they give about 6 toppings already that comes as default with all bowls or you can add more! Also, the plastic bowls are about the same design as the ones at PokiNometry. The bowl I got was a regular with white rice and I only got hamachi and albacore (ok freshness but still good), with srircha mayo(mild-medium spicy) and all of the toppings! I agree with a few reviews that they do give little rice and a tad little of fish but for me, I found a little more fish under my mixed greens so that was nice. I think they give little rice due to how much they give for the mixed greens. It is a lot but I prefer more greens than rice anyways. If you want more rice, then I suggest you tell them when you order so they can fix it for you! A little on the downside but they take a while to make your bowls if you're ordering more than 1. I believe it's due to low amount of workers and only one person was making them so it's understandable. The wait was worth it! A place worth to try if you're in the area! Upon trying the Poke place in Pasadena, I decided to come back for the sauce, since I was unhappy about the Salmon cube size. I mentioned my displeasure to the employee at the cash register and she told me they do it by weight, so size didn't matter. 3.7 i think for the regular size. Since they do measure by size the Salmon cube Gods must have been smiling down upon me that day, because my salmon cube sizes were much better then my first time there! This was also one of the few places I have ever gone to that when you ask for a lot of extra sauce, they actually oblige! The Staff here is always nice and attentive! The cashier from my first time thoughtfully remembered me this time around and gave me a pleasant wide smiled greeting! When I told an employee they had no more soy sauce at their usual soy sauce stand, he said he would bring it right out to me and indeed he did and my container was filled to the brim! I heard a lot about this poke thing that has been trending a lot these days. So when I saw this place I decided to pay a little visit. I got the Korean pepper poke bowl without the salad because I don't really like veggies. It was delicious! The fish was pretty on point and I really liked the flavor of the sauce. My friend ordered the sriracha mayo which I actually liked better than mine. I haven't had poke before but if they all taste like that I would eat more of it. The place is cute and has lots of games and books which is perfect for killing some time while you wait/eat. I will definitely come regularly to try out all the different flavors and combinations. I enjoy their unique toppings like the Korean pickles and the amount of greens they put in it. I tried the soba noodles, which was decent but I'd stick to rice next time. The food is 3.5 star worthy, but the friendly service bumps it up to 4. Wow, the Poke craze has hit SoCal like no other! I had Ice Que bookmarked for a while and then noticed the name changed to Ice Que - CLOSED on Yelp a while later! Whaaaa? Turns out Ice Que owners converted the place from a shaved ice place to a poke bowl place. So with my new bookmark in place, I was biding my time for a visit to Pokestuf. Well, that visit was last night, about an hour before store closing hours on 9 pm on a Friday night. You pick a size of regular ($9.50) or large ($12.75). Side note: judging from menu photos on Yelp, their prices have slowly increased during the past two months. Anyways, you later (1) choose a base (brown rice and soba noodles for me!), (2) get the mix of big eye ahi, salmon, albacore, and striped bass (I declined the bass), (3) choose a sauce (sesame shoyu was a choice I treasured later on), and (4) get all the toppings on the left side of the menu and add some more from the right side. They then build your bowl in a few minutes and off you go to enjoy at one of their 6-ish tables (kid table by the water dispenser too!). Everything went together really well and I really like the sauce I chose, big fan of sesame! The fish isn't the highest quality, but it's not bad. Though, compared with Pokinometry, which I went to 2 weeks ago, I think I got more fish and bigger slices of fish there than Pokestuf. Parking is on the street or whatever you can find in the public parking lot in the back, off 4th street. With the poke craze happening around So Cal, I'm glad a poke place opened fairly close to 626. This place is in the same location as ICE QUE and I heard the owner wanted to try his hand selling poke instead of icecream. So.. when revisiting the location, I was expecting a new business. NOPE! Looked just like ICE QUE, all they did was change the sign outside. I mean the interior and the setting worked for a shaved ice/ boba place but does not play well with a poke restaurant. This gave some red flag warnings because how can I trust the quality of the raw foods you are selling for consumption when the place looks like a waiting room. In addition, this is not the type of environment I find comfortable when I'm trying to enjoy a meal that I paid some good money to eat expensive raw fish. Anyways, so on to ordering food. They have a similar set up as many "design your own poke bowl" restaurants but instead they give you a defined set of fish. You have a choice of white rice, brown rice, soba, noodles, or leafy greens for the base. Then you pick which ever sauce you want to be mixed with the defined set of tuna, salmon, bass, and albacore. They give you the option of some extra toppings free of charge. There was a huge list of extras so I just asked for all of them. You said its FREE!? =) The employee looked at me like I was crazy or something when I said I wanted all of them. haha As they were making my food, I noticed that they use these restaurant storage bins to store their room temp rice. This looked very un appetizing and when I saw this I was shocked. You guys serve poke which a is influence from the Japanese! Get those bamboo rice things! It will make the restaurant look so much better! On to the food.. which was extremely delayed because they gave my order to other person -_-. Sriracha Mayo with all extras: ($9.50) I felt as though the meal was just average compared to other poke places that I've tried. Seriously.. it's pretty hard to screw up poke since raw fish is delicious on its own. As long as you have fresh ingredients, you'll be good. The fish tasted fresh and the all the toppings were pretty good. I was a bit disappointed at the amount of raw fish I had received. There's a long counter with a soda spill grill on it, what's that for? Purchased "to go"... Was in the cab, A/C on... Started smelling fishy... Unsure if it was the crab salad or something like seaweed. No sick, so fish is still "good". The bad: The white rice is not sushi rice, it's plain Asian rice. And it was not cooked well, or it was left out too long... Dried. For large ($15), don't think there was much protein for the price. The conclusion: This is the McD of poke. Of all the poke places in the San Gabriel Valley area, PokeStuf has always been the freshest and tastiest. In addition to the sashimi grade fish, I've noticed that their mixed greens are much fresher and way "crisper" than any of the competitors. I especially like their special Lemongrass Ponzu dressing. The poke glut is no joke. Pokestuf unfortunately joins a very crowded field of poke chipotle style offering restaurants in the SGV. Had it open 1 year earlier, perhaps there would be more leniency in rating due to location (I'm a sucker for anything I can get in the SGV that I don't have to drive out to the west side for) but the competition is now very fierce. What I really liked about Pokestuf is their option for having soba noodles as a base. I don't think I've really seen that anywhere else and I'm always hunting for good soba noodles. Their staff is really friendly and mega props for having unlimited free "add-on" toppings. What makes Pokestuf average is their location is very cramped for dine in and their portion size does not particularly standout. I finished my regular bowl pretty easily on my own and that usually indicates either I was starving or portion size is on the smaller end. Granted the food is lighter so maybe that's the standard in the poke industry. $9.50 for reg and ~$12 for large. Thank goodness they finally opened a poke place in SGV! I mean I know there are already a couple in Pasadena, but those are a bit far for me (I live closer to San Gabriel). This place replaced Ice Que, the place that used to serve funnel cake ice cream sandwiches. I'm pretty sure it's the same owners because the decor looks exactly the same. The price of the poke bowls is similar to other poke places. The cool thing about this place though is they give you a lot of choices for toppings and don't charge you extra for any of it. They also have a lot of options for sauces. My favorite is the lemongrass ponzu. In addition to the typical rice base, they also offer cold soba noodles or mixed greens, which I feel is pretty unique. I usually go for the soba noodles. For the fish, they offer 3 types of fish (ahi tuna, salmon, albacore). By default you get a mix of all of them, or you can ask for only the ones you want. I know some people like their poke bowls pretty simple, with just rice, fish, and a topping. So, I don't think this is the place for them. However, for people who like to customize their poke bowls and get more bang for their buck, this is definitely the place for them! Overall, I really like PokeStuf for when I get that poke craving and don't want to drive too far. Wow so underrated. Yummy and filling. Sauce selection is really interesting and satisfying. Tons of salmon in my regular size order. And here's another poke joint restaurant added to the SoCal list-- but in the SGV! Alhambra, to be exact! Came here the other day since I saw it via Yelp. This used to be that ice cream spot that served the funnel cake ice cream sandwich (but I can't remember the name). Nonetheless, rest in peace to my favorite funnel ice cream joint, you were good while it lasted. I guess this spot decided to just change their business based on the food trends :'(... Wah. But yay for poke!!!! Parking- in the rear of the restaurant. Private but small lot. Definitely not ideal if it's crowded. Luckily, this part of Alhambra is always dead-- unless if there's a sports game (darn you, Alejandro wings). Interior- literally, the same as before. IKEA white tables with limited seating to be exact. It reminded me of a froyo spot-- which was kinda weird. Oh well. Food & Price- So their poke bowl process is similar to Chipotle. You pick what you want. Regular bowl is like $10 and large is like $12 (not exact). Oh, and the fish (salmon, big eyed tuna, and albacore) is already included into the bowl-- you can't really choose unless you have a specific preference (I think). I found it funny how they added extra names to the fish like BIG EYED tuna & STRIPPED albacore-- like do these physical features really make a difference on the fish? Lol I'll leave it to you to make the decision. Anyways, there are a lot of bases for your bowls from brown rice to soba noodles. Also, there's a bunch of sauces and toppings as well. So kudos on that. Although there seems to be a lot of goodies going on, the bowl was alright and the fish was fresh. The sauce I got (sriracha mayo-- spicy yet cream & sounded like a safe choice) was a little bland-- but hey, that's better than being too salty. Also, adding the Fukui nuts was the best decision ever. Oh, and the soba noodles? Total game changer. Service- the bowl seemed to take forever to be done. But then again, their customization seems way over the top from 10-ish different sauces. On top of that, they didn't offer to sample their sauces (which they totally should have since I was mind blown from the huge variety & I was a total newb). TLDR- Overall, I really enjoyed my time here at PokeStuf (where's the other "f" though?). The mass variety of the sauces and toppings was totally rad. The fish was decently fresh as well. If you don't mind a little wait, swing by and test it out for yourself. As for me, I'll definitely come back again since it's close to home and they offer soba noodles. Talk about yummy in my tummy! Located on Main St in the San Gabriel Valley( Alhambra), Poke Stuf is an up coming spot for delicious food in a valley filled with many delicious options. One thing I do want to disclose is that this is not your traditional poke, it's actually more of a poke salad. The place is a bit small but the food packs a delicious. I have to be honest, I do think it's a little over priced for what it is and for the amount of fish that you get. It's a very creative way of making your poke because you get to choose the flavor and what other things goes into the bowl. I decided to get soba noodles with a pesto edamame. It was pretty delicious bowl! The mixture of ahi, albacore, and salmon was pretty good, the fish taste fresh and was prepared well. I'd definitely come back to this place and recommend the place to my friends. I did think service was a bit slow but hey they are a new establishment. Came here for the first time because of the good reviews. Got a regular with a mix of the fish, the miso honey sauce and a bunch of toppings. They didn't give a lot of fish and couldn't find the albacore. Couldn't taste much of the miso honey either. They only let you have one premium topping for free and each additional one is $1. I think for the price they charge I would rather go elsewhere and get more protein choices and more premium toppings! read more

I wanted to try this place since it was so close to home. Came in with my boyfriend and we usually share our meals, so we got a large. Pokestuf gives you the option of a small or large bowl. Not only that, you have the option of getting a mixture of the fish, or you could request a specific fish of your liking. Not just that, they offer many different toppings to be mixed in as well. Unlike the usual poke places that have been popping up, Pokestuf prepares your meal in their back kitchen. It's very different, compared to the usual assembly line of poke restaurants. There was very minimal seating, and most of their table tops were not very stable since they kept moving around. Perhaps they should invest in better table tops for their customers? We waited maybe about 15 minutes before they called us up for our order. However, when we received it, our fish wasn't even our bowl. Which was strange, since it's a poke place, and we wouldn't want to eat just the veggies. They took back the order and took about another 10 minutes to fix it and to add our salmon in. Our poke bowl was delicious and just the right amount to share. Might have given them 5 stars if it wasn't for error and wait on our food. read more

I wasn't a fan of this place when I initially came here. In fact, it took four tries before I decided that I like this place. This place is located on the edge of Downtown Alhambra on Main Street. Parking is street parking but there is also a lot behind the business complex and across the street. The workers here are really friendly. I arrived before my brother did and they offered to answer any questions or let me sample anything. They even talked me through my order since I have massive food envy if my dish isn't as good as I expected. I ordered a regular bowl with soba noodles (delicious but a little bit overcooked), salmon and ahi. I took the advise of a few fellow Yelpers and combined the yuzu and the ponzu dressings and the combination was delicious! Coming from spin class, the regular-sized bowl filled me up and I was almost a little bit too full. My brother really liked his bowl as well- I think he got the same as I did but with brown rice. Pokestuf has a bunch of various games off to the side for customers to use. My brother had a blast playing a bunch of games from our childhood, namely Battleship and the fishing game. I was really impressed that all the games that we played still had all its parts! Every time I opened another game box, I expected it to be missing random bits and pieces, so I really appreciated that everything was there! Kudos to Pokestuf and to fellow customers who don't steal game pieces! Overall, I like this place. Spinfish in Pasadena is my BAE, but I'll come here when I'm too lazy to make the drive and deal with parking structures. read more

CONSISTENCY is what this place lacks. I've been here a couple of times now and this place is really a hit or miss. Some days, the food is on point and other days, the food taste like cardboard. I felt like they were off point more than on point. I would not recommend getting their soba noodle. It was bland, soggy, and tasteless. I was starving when I ordered this dish and couldn't even stomach to finish the meal. I even tried to add soy sauce or hot sauce onto the dish to add some flavor. I ended up going across the street to grab something else. I'm pretty disappointed and I really hope they step up their game.
