I eat it all the time. Decent poke for a decent price. Not as tasty as Go Fish Poke Bar in my opinion, but probably the best poke in between Palo Alto (Stanford) and San Jose. Crab salad here doesn't cost extra, unlike some other poke places. The only reason I give 4 instead of 5, is that sometimes the white rice is cooked very oddly. "Odd" meaning it's quite hard, and someone had to really ruin the rice:water proportions to mess that up. She explained what the different ingredients were and suggestions on what went well together. The poke was very fresh. It was quite affordable at $10.95 per bowl. Pokeworks is a Hawaiian-style poke place in the midst of downtown Mountain View. One of the reasons why I was so excited to try this place out is because most other poke places I've been to are Japanese-style. I guess it's safe to say Hawaiian-style poke is pretty gosh darn BOMB!!!! Pokeworks is pretty small. It's more of a grab and go type of establishment with outdoor seating. (QUICK NOTE: There were baby mice running around the outdoor seating area when I went so I suggest to just grab your food and GO). What's cool about this place is you order and pay through a touch screen located on the left-hand side upon entering. That being said, ordering is really easy and gives you the freedom to take your time. Just don't take too much time... there are only two ordering stations lol. The difference between Japanese-style and Hawaiian-syle is in the sauces and toppings. I had the spicy ginger as my sauce. The flavor was a little subtle for my liking but that also may have been because I added extra sriracha to mine. I suggest adding diced mango under the "Mix-Ins" and lotus chips under the "Add Crunch." Especially the LOTUS CHIPS! The texture and taste of the lotus chips against the texture of their soft fish is perf. You can also add extra toppings free of charge. How awesome is that??? Coming back if I'm ever in the area and on the go. read more

What a journey I've had with Pokéworks. This was my first time trying poke after hearing so much of the hype; however, I was always skeptical. You see, I'm the basic white girl who only orders a California roll when I go out to sushi. So poke seemed like something totally weird and out of my league. And the first time we went here, it was good but not great. I got chicken because the fish seemed too adventurous, and I removed a bunch of the toppings that I thought sounded like too much for me. While I liked the bowl (rice and chicken, what's not to like), it just seemed like something was missing. So tonight, I decided to suit up and dive all in (ocean pun intended). AND IT. WAS. AMAZING. DANG! I got tuna and salmon and added avocado and a bunch of toppings, and WOW. It was everything I've ever wanted!! I am genuinely sorry for ever doubting you, poke lovers everywhere. I get it now. Now granted, this is the only place I've had poke, but why go anywhere else when Pokéworks does it so well?? It tastes so fresh and healthy, has the perfect mix of ingredients, and is so customizable. I was able to add extra cucumber and edamame at no extra cost, and the big scoop of avocado ($1.50 extra) was well worth the money. My only critique is that they forgot to add mango to my bowl, but I honestly didn't even notice until the very end. Every bite was flavorful and interesting and unique. I feel like I just added years to my life. So thank you, Pokéworks, for making this basic white girl into a still-basic white girl who now loves poke. I truly thank you. read more

So super upset that the Cupertino location is closed! They were a 5 stars! We had no choice to visit the small, cramped location without any indoor seating. Since the store is so small, all their ingredients are in the back and you can't select your items as you go, you just need to order and hope that they know how to follow instructions. Apparently they are not capable. We ordered 4 poke bowls and 2 of them were so wrong. 3 proteins, 2 salmon and 1 spicy tuna, it came as 1 tuna and 1 albacore tuna. We asked for crab salad and it wasn't there. We asked spicy wasabi sauce, they put ponzu instead. Let's just say when we figured out the first issue we went back, and we were too lazy to go back when we found more issue because we were hungry. Since it took us forever to get out order and it was only 3 people in front of us. Oh and the people behind us got their orders before ours. It was lousy! I come to Pokeworks weekly and order a large bowl with scallops and tuna. Best poke bowls in Mountain View. It's usually really good, though about 10% of the time the rice isn't cooked properly. Also, they have some pretty signficant supply issues, so relatively frequently they're missing a main ingredient. It's also a running gag that they never have lotus chips, yet they have been on the ingredients menu for teo years. You have to order your bowl at a kiosk, and the ordering software is abysmal and confusing. I have managed to memorize its operation after using it maybe 50-100 times, but it's as terrible as it ever was. Yummy poke bowls, though! A lot of employee turnover, but aside from the occasional rice challenge, still good quality. read more

My group was interested in trying this place out for awhile since the promotions went up. Tonight we were met with warm service, and a cheerful crew! The line was not long as there were two options for service 1. Counter and 2. Electronic kiosks. Obviously we opted for human service this visit. The concept is similar to other poke places on Castro. Select your base, protein and toppings. Add extras like avocado, etc. I tried the poke burrito with the Hawaiian classic style (ahi tuna). I didn't opt for any crunch or other extras, but kept it pretty simple. I wanted to make sure I could hone in on the primary flavors. Honestly, I was not a fan of the poke burrito after my first try. My friend ordered a bowl, and hers seemed to have so much more fish. We had the same portion size (regular), but I didn't seem to have nearly as many chunks of fish portioned out. The fish was delicious and fresh! The main thing that ruined the burrito aside from the serving size was the oil. The burrito was soaked to the point it was dripping down the wrapper. Oil for a sea weed wrap makes sense; however, it was a bit much for me warranting my 3/5 stars. I would be willing to try this place again though... But I'll be ordering a bowl and avoiding the poke burrito style. read more

Both times the volume is small with very limited protein--more of mismatch of salads than a poke bowl. The corner market down the street gives you better value for poke bowls and you can direct how much goes into it. Here, you can only order on a machine so no accountability for shotty work...you're lucky if they complete your order correctly, ie check your bag before leaving! read more

I was a little confounded that Pokeworks opened here because we already have Poke Bar downtown. What, pray tell, could they serve me that Poke Bar didn't? Well, they will wrap your poke up into a poke burrito for handy consumption (no pun intended). Anyway, I ordered for pickup through their website and when I got there the food was ready. It's the perfect selection because the weather is getting warmer. When I got there, staff members were cleaning the tables outside, so if you're looking for a COVID-safe spot to eat outside this may be a place to hit up. read more

What I experienced today at Pokeworks is every customer's nightmare and a serious loss of credibility and a question for going concern for the restaurant owner/or the chain owner in this case. My co-worker and I walk into Pokeworks to put in our order, right around 11:35am when the world is beginning to wake up for lunchtime :) And I can see that the place is a total chaos -- there are catering trays all over the place, crowded with people who individually ordered at the restaurant or via the app, and the delivery personnel from a thousand different companies (waiter.com, grubhub, doordash, etc etc). And behind the kitchen, it is a total chaos, I noticed one person taking the order, and 3 people making the bowls and 1 person doing the dishes. 10 minutes later I start to wonder what is going on 18 minutes later, they send Doordash people home, and ask them to deal with customer service directly. 28 minutes later, my friend's order comes out 33 minutes later, my order comes out. Sadly, the final product was not good either. Their portion has significantly gone smaller, and I found exactly 9 cubic pieces of fish -- which I don't think justifies the $11+tax+tip price point. Now that's talk about the cleanliness of the kitchen -- bowls all over, sauces all over, the kitchen floor a mess, and there's an employee that's picking the toppings that customers didn't order off a bowl into the trash can, and replacing them with the right toppings. All to be complemented by dissatisfied customers with visibly disturbed looks on their faces. Conveniently for me, there's lots of competition when it comes to Poke bowls in Mountain View, so I will just cross this one off the list. Yay! read more

I agree with the other reviews that this place has recently gone downhill. I usually go here about 1x week, and in the past the staff were always super nice and efficient with preparing the food. Once when they made a mistake on my order, they let me keep the "mistake" bowl for free, which was really nice. So my two stars are for all the great experiences I have had here in the past. However . . . I'm not sure if a lot of their employees have suddenly quit, but it seems like there just aren't enough people behind the counter. Last week I went in and one employee was standing by the door frantically looking down the street for what I'm guessing was another employee. No one was at the front counter. I waited a few minutes to order, then a giant group of people came in to also order, so I gave up and left (no point in watching a situation go from bad to worse). I felt very bad for the one employee who seemed to have been left in a lurch. I hope that Pokeworks can sort out the staffing/organization issues soon, both for the sake of the people still working there and the customers who like their food. read more

YUM!  Fresh ingredients that we could customize exactly to our heart and taste bud's delight with interesting options in addition to traditional favorites. The ordering process has multiple options (online for pickup, contactless kiosk just inside the door and traditional at the counter with an actual person!) that were easy to use, the staff is always helpful & friendly and the price was way better than trying to make the same dish at home - and much speedier too! The portion didn't look that big but oh my, couldn't finish even half of it [got half kale noodles and half salad greens] so happily took home the rest for later - 2 meals for the price of one makes this PokeWorks even better than 5*. The outdoor seating and ample free parking in the parking lots behind this location were enjoyable extras, and did we mention FRESH and plentiful choices?  YUM! read more

Pokeworks is like the Chipotle of the poke world! You choose your base (white/brown rice or quinoa), fresh fish, veggies, sauce, and other toppings. I like how you can mix and match, or choose from one of their Signature Works if you're indecisive. However, the BEST part is that you can basically order through an iPad in the store! This works great if you don't feel like talking to people. :P I've tried the UMAMI CLASSIC and the tuna was very fresh. I tend to always get a sushi rice bowl and just add allll the veggies. I might come back to try the Poke Burrito, however Sushirrito in SF and Palo Alto remains my favorite for the sushi burrito fusion combo. My boyfriend enjoys the WASABI SHRIMP & SCALLOPS and SHIO SALMON bowls. I had a taste and the seafood is also very fresh in both these dishes. I'll get the salmon bowl for myself next time! The last time I came here, I got a free MISO SOUP with a Yelp check-in. The soup tasted pretty standard, but it hits the spot when you want something to warm you up. Out of Pokeworks and Poke Bar, I'm going to say that Pokeworks is my go-to poke spot in Mountain View due to the fresh quality and taste of their bowls. read more

The Good: At its price point, their pokebowls are value for money. Ingredients tasted fresh and it all came together pretty well. Portion felt pretty big to me as well. The Bad: This place is seriously under-staffed. I came in with some friends on a weekday evening and the lady behind the counter was good-natured enough to let me know that orders would take 10 minutes to prepare. Unfortunately, we ended up waiting for more than 40 minutes, and every time we enquired about our orders, we were just told that we had to wait. Saw a few other customers being fed with the same "10 minute" line when it was clear that there was already a huge bottleneck in all the orders. Since they transitioned from the physical cards to the apps the rewards are still good and I've been able to take advantage of 2 $5 rewards. I got a large burrito. I had a bowl here about 3 years ago and it was so bad I never came back but when I saw they had burritos too I thought I'd give it a try. This is like sushiritto but much worse in taste and quality of craftsmanship. I've attached a picture of my roll. They put in like a half of an avocado. Not mashed or even diced. And the crab mix just wasn't mixed at all with the rest of the roll. On top of that they just seem to have bad attitudes. They gave me attitude when I asked what the difference was between ogo and hijiki (?) seaweed... and there was no pictures anywhere in the store. Having lived in Hawaii, my poke expectations are pretty darn high. While Pokeworks delivered in some ways in terms of flavor and toppings, there were certain things that just seemed "off" about the experience as a whole. For one, I expect Poke to be marinated (or having had time to mingle with the sauce for a while), and the thing about most "Build Your Own" Poke places is that you miss out on the flavor that marination brings in exchange for choosing things as you please. The flavor of the poke here (sauce + raw fish) was better than some build your own poke places I've been to, but again, missed that deep, marinated taste. I did appreciate being able to add a variety of toppings for no extra price, and things like the lotus chips and differing types of seaweed were standouts from other poke places. Some specialty toppings, such as avocado, did charge extra price. I also took advantage of the $1 miso soup special, however, the soup was regular run of the mill, nothing special, neither great nor terrible. Also interesting to note that they had vegetarian/possibly vegan options on the menu, for all of you veg-heads out there looking for it. They had a spicy marinated tofu on the menu that I would be interested to try. I paid around $16 for my pokebowl & miso soup, and got a reasonable serving, but I know there are other poke places in the Downtown Mountain View area that give a larger quantity of food for around the same price. The ordering system here is very "new Bay Area" in that you are not required to converse with the person making your food as you order via iPad at the front of the store (and/or assuming you can order online as people walked in to grab food that had already been made ahead of time). In a way, that is what made the experience sub-par from me. I did not understand how to order my food at first, and there was no step-by-step directions posted that were easy to see, and the people working there did not welcome me into the shop or offer hints as to how to order. I figured it out eventually, and ordered my food. The seating is all outside, which was great on a nice, sunny day, but it would definitely be problematic if it was cold and/or rainy. This place definitely has a grab-and-go vibe for those looking for a quick bite during their lunch break. Overall, the poke was okay, not great, but I would hesitate coming back just in terms of the service. read more

Quick and healthy meals for those who like sushi. Pokeworks is a cool little restaurant, perfect for lunchtime, and pretty good for dinners and brunches. It follows the Chipotle style of dining in which the customer chooses their type of meal (burrito, rice bowl, or salad), their type of meat (tuna, salmon, chicken, etc), and their toppings. The fish is raw, sushi style, and the other meats are cooked and prepared in Japanese style seasonings. I sampled both the burrito and salads. The burrito is made out of seaweed instead of tortilla and white rice instead of Mexican style rice. Overall, it was novel, but I've tried sushi burritos before and this one was lackluster. It felt kind of dry and the large portion of rice in the burrito took away from the fish flavors. The salad, on the other hand, is what you'd expect: a mix of fresh leaves topped with meat and other good stuffs. It felt much more filling without having the flavors being hindered by the salad leaves. It's a tad too pricey for me to want to eat every week, but it's a nice treat every once in a while. read more

Pretty disappointed by this place. I got a regular size bowl with spicy tuna. This was a very small poke bowl with small pieces of tuna. It's actually not super small, but compared to other poke places in the area, over $13 for this amount with no add-ons was a bit of a rip off (I wish I got a picture!). I usually go to Pokebar less than a block away, but I decided to try this place, ordering the exact same thing. The small size at Pokebar is $1 cheaper and significantly bigger--not because they heap on rice but because they give you more fish/mix-ins. Like Pokebar, Pokeworks gives you imitation crab and seaweed salad for no additional charge, but the amount they give is unfortunately pretty negligible. Ordering online they give you the option to choose your sauce level. I chose medium and it came drenched with sauce and the rice was swimming in liquid at the bottom. I wish I could comment on the other flavors in the bowl; maybe their spicy tuna is great on it's own, I just have no way of knowing. I should have gotten light sauce, but if this was medium, I'm curious what heavy is like. On a more positive note: my pickup experience was great--super quick and the staff was friendly and attentive. 2 stars because I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt and I appreciated the service, but it should really be a 1. I think with (seemingly) easy fixes this place could be great, and I'm hoping this was just an off day. To sum up: go to Pokebar instead, or anywhere else for that matter, there's some really good poke in the area. read more
