A friend of a friend brought me here Sunday for a quick bite to eat after church and I was already impressed with it by just the concept alone. I'd never heard of a drive-thru Peruvian restaurant before so I was eager to try it. I ordered the Combo Inka at the suggestion of my lunch date. It mainly consisted of grilled chicken, steamed white rice, and a side of soup. I went from being impressed with the concept to being impressed with the food itself. The chicken was grilled the way I like it; a nice dark brown with slightly crispy skin. And it was perfectly seasoned. The spicy green salsa that came with the meal added an excellent kick to the white rice. I wasn't a big fan of the soup, though. It was cold and didn't really have much of a flavor. We waited quite a bit in the drive-thru, but considering this isn't typical fast food, it wasn't a big deal. And the food was certainly worth the wait. Overall, I was pleased with the meal and I'd definitely go back if I'm ever in the area again. read more

I don't usually come to the Express because we normally dine-in at their various locations: Lawndale, Gardena(dinner & a show on certain nights), Torrance(live music on certain nights) and Hermosa Beach(where people can be a little full of themselves sometimes). There was only one car ahead of me when I pulled in. People complain about the wait, but they were pretty fast considering the food is made when ordered and not sitting under a heat lamp. This is the first review I've ever written, but it just had to be done. I've visited this location twice now. For starters, the service is awful. It's kind of difficult to understand how the staff can be so short and so rude when people are voluntarily waiting 20-30 minutes in a drive thru. After my first visit, with terrible service, I still returned the next time I was in the area because my food was certainly satisfying. This brings me to my second visit: I ordered the Lomo Saltado for lunch on Monday (05/22/17) afternoon around 1:00pm. I ate about half the order then went about my day. Around 2:30 I started feeling very nauseous. I didn't want to think it was my lunch but it was all I had eaten all day. I decided to take a nap hoping to sleep off whatever was wrong with me. Fast forward to about 5pm. I wake up and immediately start gagging and retching. I could just feel my lunch at the top of my stomach. I start puking and realize I now have a fever. I had the shakes, my stomach felt like it was filled with gasoline, it hurt so bad. This is when I realized I definitely had food poisoning. I called Pollo Inka around 8:30 and asked to speak to a manager to let them know I had gotten very sick from their food. I let the manager know that I had received both awful service and now food poisoning from this location. He responded with "so what's the problem, I don't see the problem?" I let him know that my food poisoning was certainly a problem. He then asks why I would even return after receiving bad service the first time. Are you kidding me? That was his response? The level of unprofessionalism was appalling. I let him know that this was a serious matter, especially for a restaurant, that I then realized, had a B rating. He then tells me to "hold on" and never comes back to the phone. I continued to be completely debilitated for the remaining 30 hours after consuming that lunch on Monday. I've filed a report with the health department and will be sure it is followed up with. Because again, this location has a B rating. That's actually rare in LA county. A B rating means they had some serious violations and multiple. Stay away from this place, people. read more

The food is delicious but the drive thru service sucks. It took me a good 15 min to get FRIED RICE! I get that your busy, but If your working drive thru, stick to your station and only your station. I can't really blame the employee she did apologize, but it starts with management if they can't provide the help they need these are the results. read more

The worst Drive Through Line EVER! I have been in line for 45 minutes so far and not even to the window yet! There are still 5 cars in front of me. I called to tell them why would they have us wait this long and they just said they are trying to crank out the orders.....if your in a rush DO NOT COME here you'll be waiting at least an hour! Great spot to come grab lunch. This small establishment is more for drive thru and pick up than for staying given that it's small and not with a lot of parking available. They have a sit in restaurant a few blocks away so this is more to on the go. Food is great! Not cheap but not super expensive! It's usually really busy between 11 am to 1 pm. But the good thing is that you can call ahead of time and just pick up within 20 minutes. I always order the lomo saltado with a rice substitution because their cilantro rice is super delicious compared to the rice that the normal order comes with. I also recommend their Peruvian drink maracuya, it's super sweet and tasty when served with lots of ice. read more

I been coming here for years the food is always the best! Love platanos and sopa! And the alfajaros are to die for. My boyfriend and I live in Lakewood and we drive all the way here to enjoy the food. But their new girl cashier is very rude. I don't know her name but she needs to learn how to have manners. My daughter turned me on to this place after eating at their larger service restaurant down the block the food here is always hot and fresh prepared to order. Combos are a good value. My wife always gets the sandwich combo and I get the chaufas. I just wish I could get a side instead of the soup... Corn, etc. The only option is a salad for an extra charge and no I don't want to pay $2.50 for a small corn Cobette. Despite that we eat here every week. Gotta have a strategy because it's so popular the parking and inside seating is tough during dinner time. read more

To the owner, supervisor and manager. I have been a regular customer for years and on 5/4/18 and couple of weeks that I've been there i have notice how rude the customer service has been. I get to restaurant 30min before closing time to have dinner and was told twice that it's only to go. Your restaurant closes at 9:00pm not 8:30pm why in the world do you refuse your customer not to eat inside? Oh and the way that your cashier say thing is not pleasant. If your going to change your business hours please let your customers know by making a new sign with new hours. Have no clue what's going with you guys, everything was nice and dandy before everyone was nice and respectful. Express - I think not! They messed up on our order multiple times. We ordered two lomo saltados and they gave us saltados de pollo. Had us pull out of drive through, wait in the handicap parking spot and waited forever for them to come out. In the end, I went in to pick up the food. Went back to the car and saw that they forgot our Inka Cola. Had to get out of the car again to get it. The guy went to the back and was about to give us warn sodas. Luckily there were a few cold ones that the nice lady gave us but still. What should've been a 10 mins transaction turned into at least 40. Next time, we should just go to the restaurant and get our food faster and right the first time. read more

My complaint is their drive trough service, it took them 52 minutes to have my order ready.they have someone getting the orders but when i got to the window they asked what I was going to order so it took them almost 20 minutes to have it ready. The food is always great! Then why is it that I am giving you only one star? The service is horrible. I understand that you are busy but that doesn't mean that you can treat people with an attitude. I think that you need to retrain your employees on customer service or just rehire people with good customer service skills pollo inka express. By the way the restrooms are disgusting and the fact that the place is so small it makes it very unsanitary, maybe that's why you have a B grade posted on your window. The food here is better than the restaurant version of this place. However I do need to say that I ordered a chicken and noodle plate ( I forgot the name) and the first one was very salty and so I went to the cashier and tell her the food was salty. She then told me I had to show her the food so she took it back and kindly made me a new one and told me that they do not use salt in their food (which let me thinking because I swear it was really salty) either way they later disclose to me they use soy sauce and ginger sauce so she added more ginger sauce to make it less salty. I have to admit it was way better than the first plate, loved it. The chicken proportion is generous but I wish it had a flavor because it does taste bland. (But it's okay if that how it supposed to be styled, in the restaurant version it does taste grilled) and the veggies are your typical Peruvian styled stir fry that tastes good. The only suggestion I have to say is that the high seating is uncomfortable because the seat is really small. Then the only complaint I have to make is the restroom needs to be checked because it was messy. Thats all I have to say about this place. read more

Pollo Inka Management, You really need to sit down and re-think the idea of "NOT" taking phone orders when you guys are really busy?? This to me is absolutely absurd, that while your online ordering system DOES NOT WORK your customer's are not able to call in their order? I only have a 30 min. lunch and work at least 15 minutes away. I tried calling at least 8 times and the phone RANG AND RANG AND RANG. It was on the last call I made that an answering machine picked up directing me to your "Order Online" option ( that does not work). How is this cost effective for your establishment not not take phone orders and rather have a loooong drive thru line and or a crowded dine in??? Sadly disappointing not only is the way you guys have chosen to treat your customers, but also I have to complain about my food. Today was my first time eating at this location and I was pleasantly surprised. The quality of food was excellent the portions are large defiantly worth the price. My husband and I both order two different plates and one drink we paid $21 which I though was a reasonable price. The wait time was not long at all they worked pretty efficiently. I'm from Arizona and every time I'm in LA we stop by here. In AZ the Peruvian restaurants are all sit down places and they are pricey but this place is delicious and very easy on the wallet. Their green sauce is amazing one of my favorites. I love love love this place I wish we had one in Phoenix. Try everything on their menu everything is delicious. read more
