Have tried calling in to make a to-go order on 2 separate occasions, last week and tonight, and have not been able to get through. Last week when I called (which was about 6 times over an hour period), the phone would ring about 6 times then hang up. Tonight, I called twice and each time it rang then went to voicemail. Sofia took care of me for lunch. I ate at the counter. I ordered the Polly Burger Combo. The food was great. The Boysenberry pie was great. I ate there. I ask for a biscuit. They didn't have any. I asked for strawberry shortcake. They said they don't have that. ( I had it there a week ago). (A restaurant that says "Bakery " on its walls, has no biscuits.) at 7 pm at night. When they close at 9 or 10 pm). I ordered a meal, and ate. I asked for dinner rolls, they said they don't have anymore. I asked for a custard pie slice. They said they had it. The pie never came. I asked about it. They said "the manager said we can't substitute pie for a bread." I said " I wasn't talking about a substitution, I can pay. Money isn't a problem." Then after some delay, I felt disgusted. I left. Pollys, Dennys, Carrows, Marie Calendars are of similar ilk specializing in typical, middle of the road American fare with a bit of Americanized Mexican tucked in. All these places may appeal to people who expect standardized food no matter where they go. In some ways, Pollys like the others seem to cater to those who eat to live. Food doesn't seem to be one of the central foci of pleasure, but just fuel to add to the fire. I came here to keep my partner company. I wanted to order the fresh Ollalieberry pie that I saw listed on their website. Ordered it, but the waiter told me they didn't have it. They only had the fresh strawberry pie which didn't look too appealing since it seemed over coated with a corn starch, red food coloring infused glaze. So I ordered their Coconut cream pie that looks as though it's store bought from Ralph's. Decent coconut cream with a high factor of chewy shredded coconut, good custard full of sweet condensed milk. Pie crust is standard pâte brisée. Coffee was the preferred beverage of choice to pair with the pie. Pleasant although I suppose I could get a similar pie at a supermarket, but that was not the point. The roasted 1/4 dark meat chicken seemed pretty good. The string beans, however, looked faded mushy green, really over cooked. Edgar, our waiter, was thoughtful by pointing out we could get a better deal by choosing a combo meal which would include the pie. Thanks Edgar for the heads up to save a little money. Few times that I have been there staff has been rude and seemed rushed. I have asked to do you corn bread and I've been told no sorry, it's been sold out. I worked in 14 restaurants managed two of them in LA many moons ago and I've never seen such a disgusting way to serve up an overpriced POS piece a pie until this place Look close at the pics and you'll notice soap scum all over the serving dish. In one picture I am wiping some of it off with my finger. As far as customers go I was the only one in the building who wasn't elderly. Polly's is a great restaurant. Consistently good comfort food at a reasonable price. The Polly burger, cornbread and any breakfast item is a must. And don't get me started in the pies! Omg. We had a last minute dinner plan fall through and so we went to the closest place by my work which was Polly's pies and let me tell you.. was such a great choice because we got lucky and had the best waiter with such an adorable sense of humor. I came here with my girlfriend on a whim as I had a birthday coupon expiring soon. We had passed by here before but never had the chance to come in and sit down to eat. The environment inside is very folksy and pleasant, and surprisingly busy for a weekday afternoon. Staff were very kind and showed us to our table. I ordered a Steak French Dip, which was very good even by Diner standards, although the Au Jus was thicker than I'd ever had before. Not a complaint as it paired well with the fries as a dipping sauce. For dessert I had their house special, the Banberry Pie; a banana cream with strawberries and a type of jam or jelly smothered on top. Delicious!! For a concept so simple, the taste still knocked it out of the park. The crust was also noticeably tasteful like a sweet bread. Overall it was a delicious Americana style meal, but the prices are just a bit too steep for us to be coming back on the regular. Pre ordered two pies for Thanksgiving. The pies were such a disappointment. The pecan didn't even taste cooked. Chocolate cream pie was not set up and had the consistency of runny pudding. Tonight 12/4/2023, I had dinner at Polly's Pies. Chicken was almost burnt - meat was dried. I had to ask to get a new one. The pie I wanted (apricot) was frozen. It would take over an hour to bake! Manager asked how it was and I said it was OK. A good manager would ask for more info. He didn't. The only good thing was corn bread. Waitress didn't know if it's butter or margarine. My grandpa loves Pollys, and I am glad there is one located in Fullerton. The 2 for $25 meals are wonderful. I love all of the baked bread, especially the sourdough that comes with the burger. The apple pie is phenomenal. This place is nostalgic for me, as I grew up eating at the Whittier location my whole life. I absolutely love the split pea soup. Or as its called here "Dutch Pea". Not very many places offer pea soup daily, and this one is so delicious! The coupons that come in the mail are great. I really wish they would serve the housemade Kona chips again, because I prefer them over French fries. I also like that I can enjoy an adult beverage or two while I take my grandpa out to eat. We went there this past Saturday afternoon. The service there is was not that good at all. The waitress at our table was awful. When I asked her to refill my drink she didn't bring the refill. I had to remind her that she forgot my refill. Also where this restaurant is located was not a good area. I like Polly's Pies Restaurants as the food is usually very good. They are a chain restaurant located in Orange and Los Angeles County. They are serving indoors again at this location but the service was a bit slow due to not enough servers. They couldn't have been nicer and friendly even though I believe that they're overworked. Maybe not enough employees have come back due to the Covid19 pandemic. Staff were still wearing masks. I registered online and got a free birthday meal and a slice of pie for me and my honey. Service has gone down since my last review. The location is tucked away in a strip mall (planet fitness, goodwill, autozone, etc) We usually come here for desserts. They offer season pies as well as the traditional pies (apple pie, ban berry pie, chocolate pie, etc). Since i'm signed up for the email i usually get coupons and promotions in the mail. today we came in with the intent of using it but the cashier was abrupt and rude. I find that a location that advertises how to support the military through purchase of pies are rude to those who serve. I really do hope that this cashier/server finds a better attitude. read more

Being a customer at Pollys's for over 17 years, always great customer service, especially Edgar so courteous, always welcoming, most importantly, conscientious checking up with us to make sure everything is fine. . We need more Edgar at Polly's . With that said he cares about his customers more than the actual management. Had a very bad experience and will not come back to the store spend your hard-working money and to receive disrespect from a manager. Kim she was very disrespectful walked past us several times well, not even a menu in front of us never said hello or greeted us . We actually were sitting at the counter right in front of her near the register and she couldn't even acknowledge us. It was very slow that day, so that was very frustrating to us, two associates at the counter and including the manager Kim having a great time and we're just looking at them wondering when they're going to decide to come and ask us if we need help so we can order our lunch because we only had an hour to enjoy our time. We continue to wait until we asked a gal who was leaving finishing up her shift if she could call somebody to help us this was 10 minutes into our lunchtime. And again Kim passes us right by and says nothing. This is unbelievable. We were so frustrated and I went up to the counter and I said to Kim , is there something that we did to you that you did not acknowledge us and her response was oh I am sick. I don't wanna be around everybody. I had to come to work because they wouldn't let me stay home. That's why I didn't say anything to anybody, but yet she was standing at the counter, laughing and having a great time with her coworkers.. if this was the case, wouldn't she be wearing a mask and not be handling food to her guests we don't get this. But I'm sure the health department would have a field day one. We just don't understand this. We watched her set place setting with no gloves if that was the case of her being ill. And handling food . We proceeded to go out pay for food and well met up with another manager explain the situation and our frustration. She said she was going to send her home and speak with her the next day we decided we will call and ask for our money back because of the disrespect. Why should we pay? We actually had the opportunity to see Kim again who is very apologetic at this point it was too late for us. We will contact corporate and find out what they can do. Sorrow that's what has happened to Polly's Pies. Man cannot live by pies alone. yes pies are great but now too much money so I have resorted to buy at supermarkets. I used to love their meals but now it is as if they get left over frozen vegetables not fresh like they used to serve. then they put the side of vegetables in a itty bitty ceramic serving bowl with the diameter of 1 1/2 inches. It used to be crowded but no more. why should it? the owners are quite possibly older and the kids do not want to invest time, or owners fell out of love. passed away and you can tell with the poor quality.
