I'm leaving a 5 star review because of Terrence. We had an overall terrible experience with the lady working drivethru (Sarah?). Very rude and disrespectful, wouldn't let us order our meals at the window because she said the FNAF meals were only available online. So we got stuck in the drivethru line. App wouldn't work, went inside where she continued to be impatient and rude to me and then stated the app was down. Terrence was quiet, kind, patient. Driving through here and came in for some crispiness. I had the ghost pepper chicken wings before and I loved loved it. This time, I ordered ghost pepper chicken sandwich, and I didn't like it as much as the wings. The sauce was way too much and the prickles were way too sour. I couldn't even finish, and had to order something else. I don't know if it's because that's what locals prefer, but for me, didn't like it. People here are nice and quick. There are so very talkative Asian antiques here, and I love them. I will always drive a little further for Popeyes - the selection for all members of the family is great. One must always check your order, however, as is standard at fast food establishments, the staff are not professional and get mixed up frequently. Hubby and I enjoyed this fast food restaurant on a week night after work. We were tired and hungry. Easy to find on Spenard. Easy parking. Pleasant workers. Many combinations of chicken and sides. We were happy with our choices: strips, legs, etc. mashed potato and gravy, bean and rice, and coleslaw. I would give ZERO stars if I could. This was legitimately the WORST fast food experience I've ever had. The employees were rude, the food was terrible, and it was ridiculously expensive on top of all of that. I will NEVER eat here again and plan on leaving negative reviews on every platform available. The chicken was dry and tasted like it was 3 to 4 hours past its hold time, the mac and cheese was a congealed mess, even the biscuits were dry and hard (slightly reminiscent of a hockey puck). I would have received better food and better value for my money from the deli at Carrs. NEVER eating here again. I don't think I have been to this Popeye's location in at least ten years, certainly not since the remodel. Last time I visited, it was terrible. Last night's visit was nearly perfect. First, the oddities: There is no Popeye's app for my android phone (android 10). Very odd. The play store says that the Popeye's app will not work with my phone. So, ipad it is. Got the order in (a 2-piece box with red beans/rice, and a 4 piece box with red beans/rice, both spicy), and headed over to that side of town. Pulled into the drive thru, got to the speaker, and they said that online orders have to be picked up inside. Ok, that's weird, but whatever. Went inside, waited a few minutes while they put it together, and took it home. It was delicious! Their red beans and rice is still perfection, and the biscuit was super flaky. The chicken was also good! Just a good amount of heat, crispy, and not terribly greasy (it was a little greasy, but that is to be expected with fried chicken). I really have no complains about this meal! Next time, I'll try out the ghost pepper wings. Reviewbruh (reportofftheweek) really liked them so we'll see. read more

Just got the 4 piece combo. Chicken was about half the size it should be and was so dried out it could've been under the heat lamp overnight. The side portions were less than half full. $21 for gas station type crap food. This isn't the Popeye's I know and love. I stopped in here yesterday during my lunch break plus the fact that I haven't eaten at an Anchorage Popeye's since the 1980's when they were at the old Schlotzky's Deli location on Dimond. This location is housed in an older two-story building in midtown at the intersection of Benson and C St. The structure hosted many eateries over the years from California Roll in the 80's to a revolving door of Chinese restaurants before becoming a Thai restaurant with an all you can eat buffet in the early 2000's to the current establishment today. With a wide variety of places to eat in proximity to work, I wanted to try this place once despite all the negative reviews I have read by others. I can honestly say that I would have to agree with the majority of reviewers who have not had a positive experience here. Customer service was not an issue. My order was taken quickly and the wait was only a few minutes after sitting down. The dining area was filled with a few diners, mostly the office crowd taking their lunch breaks like myself. No issue on the dining area. It was clean and spacious which leads me to the specific issue I had in my visit. I ordered the Classic Chicken Combo meal. I heard and read all the hype from their chicken sandwiches at locations in the Lower 48 and I was eager to try it out. The chicken sandwich tasted good with a few bites, but the prep and cooking time of the chicken filet made half of the sandwich inedible. The breading was soggy and falling apart rather than crispy and 1/4 of the chicken patty was under-cooked. Even worse, that section of the filet seemed to be almost raw which is a red flag on food safety especially if this was reported to the Health Department. I threw half of the sandwich away upon discovering this. The fries were crispy and hot out of the fryers; the only bright spot to such a poor meal. I could've easily gotten up for a replacement order, but by then a line was forming and I only had 15 minutes left on my break. At the front counter, some of the customers were growing irritated while the line itself barely moved. Good thing I came before the rush or I would've spent a large part of my break just standing there getting it to-go. Another issue was that the condiments counter was devoid of ketchup and napkins. I approached the counter for ketchup packets but the two employees were tied up prepping the orders away from the register. I had to flag an employee down who got back from giving a forgotten food item to a customer outside who ordered at the drive-thru. There were customers who had the same issue I had that came back a couple of minutes later visibly frustrated to get ketchup, napkins, and utensils after leaving with their to-go orders the first time. I will give Popeye's another chance, but it will be at their Elmendorf location for the next visit. read more
