From the chicken souvlaki salad, to the chicken soup, and chicken pasta everything here was fresh and tasty. I enjoyed the relaxing and inviting interior with large booths. We were warmly welcomed and seated. We were just a few minutes ahead of the lunch rush. Wow, did this place get busy fast on a Friday at noon. The service was impeccable. Another great Buffalo café. I'm not from this neck of the woods so I was intrigued when two of my friends suggested this place. Poppyseed is located in a strip mall across the street from the McKinley Mal. It's a narrow restaurant but they maximized the space inside by creating rows of booths that go to the back of the restaurant. I only saw half of the restaurant and the side I saw had booths that fit four people. It looked like it was the same on the other side of the restaurant so it might not be good for groups. Call ahead to check. The menu is huge. I was overwhelmed when I saw it so I asked the waitress for recommendations which was quite helpful. I ended up ordering from the ciabatta section (which she recommended) and ordered the chicken pesto ciabatta sandwich. My friend ordered a sandwich that had something like cinnamon bread, whipped cream cheese, a deli meat, and dried fruits. We swapped halves of the sandwiches to try both. Both were incredibly flavorful. My only complaint about the sandwiches is that both were on the greasy side. It was a little too heavy. Also, you can upgrade to soup or salad but French onion soup isn't included in that deal. I'm not surprised but I was a little bit bummed. I chose fries for my side. I'm extremely picky about fries and I'd considered their fries to be good fries! I do want to go back because I really enjoyed the flavor combinations of the two sandwiches I tried. It was pretty unique. I just hope they're not as greasy next time. One more thing...they have great service! They were all friendly and stayed on top of my drink. It's a great environment there. Delicious! Finally a place in Buffalo where I can eat healthy food with dietary restrictions with my family. My carnivore husband said his burger was the best burger he ever ate out at a restaurant. It was an Angus burger on a Costanzo roll. I was able to get a portobello chicken sandwich on a gluten free roll and it was delicious! It didn't taste like a hard dry gluten free roll but instead like a regular roll. There are many gluten free options to include pasta and sandwiches. I was even able to have my sweet potato fries! We will definitely be coming back to Poppyseed! read more

I've never actually eaten in here, but the place is always slammed and is pretty popular in the Southtowns. The whole menu looks appetizing, but I have ordered the Boccocini salad a couple times. (Always butcher the name when I place my phone order). Pick up times range anywhere from 10-20 minutes. Not bad considering how busy they always are. I'm greeted when I walk in by extremely nice employees at the front desk. I've never had a bad customer service from them. They always double check my order in front of me when I ask if they remembered my extra salad dressing, rather than saying "yes" like other businesses have done and making me leave to go home to find out they hadn't. Nobody just assumes I'm going home to eat my food so I'm always offered plastic ware which is nice because it's something I'd normally forget to ask for if I did need it. Prices are ok for the quality of food you're getting. My salad is $12 but does come with fresh mozzarella and chicken on it. I'm excited to start trying more of their menu items now. read more

They have the most delicious chicken souvlaki that I've ever tasted. They also have amazing pumpkin cheese soup during the fall season. The staff there are great and very warm and friendly. The service itself was not super quick but not super slow either. I'm impressed because you can tell they took their time to create a quality, tasty meal. Poppyseed is owned by 3 friends. Their mission is to make every visit something you'll remember, what I remember is the waitress. She was extremely friendly and help us with our decision on what to get. We started with an app which was the Artichoke Spinach Dip. It was a homemade recipe served with warm tortilla chips. This was good and I would recommend ordering it. I had the Gorgonzola Chicken Florentine Cajun grilled breast topped with mushrooms, spinach & gorgonzola. It was tasty, but a little too spicy for me, but good. We also had the peanut butter pie for dessert, that was average like all other restaurants. What made the experience was the waitress. She was very helpful, friendly and polite. I love local business and will be back to try the sadwiches. read more

One of hamburgs hidden gems. I've been here a handful of times but always forget about it when we can't think of a place to eat out. I need to stop doing that because every time we go there is fantastic! The menu is huge and has many options from salads, sandwiches to pasta and full dinners. The Spinach and artichoke dip appetizer was absolutely amazing. It's a very smooth dip with a bit more cheese than most other dips out there. There was some melted cheese on the pieces of bread for dipping too. The dip was a little on the spicer side as well, not bland like other places. The service was quick for the appetizer and drinks but took a while for the meal. I went on a Wednesday night and the entire restaurant was packed so I would assume the weekend would be a little longer of a wait. I had the roast beef sandwich with chips and the chips were amazing. They don't use chips out of a lays bag, these chips are like kettle chips that were freshly made. The roast beef was a little on the saltier side but it did come with a side of ajou sauce in case you wanna lather up the beef. Would go back! read more

I had the Moroccan ahi tuna salad with the wasabi dressing. I was a little confused about the dish, as the wasabi was meant to go with the tuna but also there were olives and bleu cheese on the salad. Regardless, I had the tuna seared and it was perfectly done. The size was huge and the server was friendly and fast. My friend got April showers (with poppyseed dressing of course) and really enjoyed it. I will definitely be back. read more

My girlfriend and I went here after visiting the Hamburg Fairgrounds. All I can say was that it was a BIG mistake! We should have went to Fuji Grill or even Panera. We walked in and immediately heard screaming kids and toys all over the floor!!! The food wasn't spectacular, average at best. This place was recommended by a co-worker who I will be having a talk with very soon! Lots of other places to eat at within this area that are so much better! read more

Surprisingly delicious food much better than most healthy restaurants in DC and Boston. The restaurant is located in a strip mall and appeared unappealing from the outside. The inside was gloomy and had very basic decorations not for the instagram worthy customers! The food I ordered, a quinoa salad was so delicious, full of flavor and crunch with fresh vegetables. Everyone in my party enjoyed their food particularly the warm moist pita bread. There are loads of options from vegan dishes to hamburgers and pasta etc. I definitely want to return if I am back in Buffalo. read more

Fantastic food and great service in a cute place. My only complaint is that, even though there were plenty of open tables, we were seated in the very last booth.... right outside the kitchen. The menu has all sorts of soups and sandwiches and burgers and wraps and entrees (chicken, fish, and Italian specialties). Everything is reportedly made in house. It was difficult to decide so my friend and I each changed our minds at least half a dozen times before we finally chose the very same thing (ha!): a chicken salad croissant with soup. There were a couple of choices of (house-made) soup plus chili and French onion. We both (ha! again) went with the beef barley. It was super flavorful and practically thick enough to eat with a fork. Hot and delicious, it was a great start to our meal. The sandwich was exceptional! The croissant was huge, fresh, and warm..... and it was piled (PILED!) with the most delicious chicken salad that I have ever had in my whole (long) life. Chunks of white chicken, bits of celery and green onion, cashews, and just the perfect amount of seasoning and mayonnaise to hold it all together. Topped with leaf lettuce and fresh tomato slices, it was super yummy! It was almost too large to lift. And, it was served with a pickle and house made (yes!) potato chips. Poppyseed has easily become one of my new favorite places to visit. Came in around 5:30 on a Sunday and it was happy that it was not really too busy. My friend and I were able to be seated immediately and had our waitress come to our table within minutes. Our waitress was a gem, she was so sweet and checked on us multiple times during our visit. We tried their black bean dip and their chicken wing dip. They both were so delicious!!! I could not stop eating either and almost requested more chips. Their fresh made chips were so delicious and everything was seasoned great. I cannot wait to come back and some of their sandwiches and entrees! Keep up the good work. read more

One of my favorite restaurants in orchard park- they remodeled over the past few years and it's super cute inside. By the looks outside you may not think to try out this gem but you can get some of the freshest meals here. The salad portions are good for at least two people so you can always have leftovers! The homemade black bean dip is amazing and my favorite salad is the fall harvest. The service is always up to par it's a very welcoming and family friendly place. It does get busy (for good reason) but I've never waited more than 20 minutes to sit. They have takeout too! read more

First of all this is one of my absolute favorite restaurants. It's like a cozy diner inside. They do serve alcohol which is a major plus! I love their French onion soup it's so delicious. I usually get a chicken fajita wrap. Mmmm. I can't get enough of it. They have really amazing salads as well! They are large portions! They do have a dessert menu. Once in a while they have a cheesecake on there I like. Other than that they have a lot of chocolatey things and I'm not a huge chocolate fan. It is kind of hidden. My mom and I love stopping in to Poppyseed for lunch! There are plenty of healthy, fresh sandwich and salad options! They offer gluten free and vegetarian options. The restaurant always seems to be busy. Definitely a great thing for them ;) It is so cute inside. The seating is all wooden booths. The appetizer list is full of dips! Our favorite is artichoke spinach dip. We absolutely have to order it every time. It is served with homemade tortilla chips. They are unlike any I've had anywhere else! Definitely get a dip as an appetizer! The sandwich menu is extensive! I personally enjoyed a variety of them. My moms absolute favorite is the LA Cinnamon Sandwich. It has grilled cinnamon bread with diced walnuts, cream cheese, smoked turkey and dried cranberries. All drizzled with a cinnamon sauce. This is served with sweet potato fries. read more

I went to Poppyseed on Friday for dinner after seeing the reviews and was very impressed. It's got a diner feel but the menu has great variety-- appetizers, homemade soups, wraps, sandwiches, salads, and meat, fish, and pasta entrees. I was with two others and we ordered the bread dip appetizer. It comes with white, wheat, and pumpernickel toast triangles and a little cup of house made dip. I think the dip had spinach, artichoke and fresh herbs, but having never had spinach or artichoke dip before (I know, how does that happen?!) I had nothing to compare the flavor to and the strongest flavors I got were from the herbs. For my meal, I got the fajita chicken wrap with a cup of house made chicken white bean chili to start (soup or salad comes with the meal). The chili was delicious... lots of shredded chicken and very well flavored with a little kick. The wrap was also super tasty, but as you can tell by a picture someone posted of a different wrap, it was HUGE! I ended up eating just half of it and being very full after also eating the soup and appetizer. The flavors of the wrap blended well and the elements were well distributed, although I ended up going the fork and knife route after it kept unfolding when I tried to pick it up. My dining companions enjoyed their meals as well although one ordered the artichoke chicken entree with pasta and it was absolutely smothered in cheese sauce. Way too much cheese sauce. He said it tasted great but he could hardly find the pasta and chicken through the pool of sauce and it was entirely too rich for his taste (and, I can imagine, mine as well). All in all, a good dining experience and the prices seemed reasonable to boot. I will definitely come back if I'm in that area around meal time. read more
