This was our first meal in Texas after landing from LA and man it was great! I ordered the chicken Caesar salad and calamari while my friend ordered spicy vodka tortellini with chicken and mozzarella sticks. The mozz sticks were pretty standard, the marinara sauce that came with it was slightly on the sweeter side was delicious regardless. The calamari was FIRE!!! The batter was so crispy and the calamari meat was super tender, it was my friend's first time ever trying calamari and he LOVED it My chicken Caesar salad was super yummy and I ate it uppppp! The chicken was beautifully seasoned and cooked to perfection The spicy vodka tortellini was tasty as well, the spicy vodka sauce was sooo good??? Amazing restaurant with amazing food, ordered some pasta dishes, and they were so incredibly delicious. Very chewy and the sauce was flavorful, thick and filling. Really liked the flower on top of one of the dishes to add more pop and color to the pasta. The complementary bread was also very delicious and fluffy. We also told our server it was one of our friends, birthdays, and they were able to bring out a free dessert at the end. Service was great. Do not go to the restaurant unless you want to blow your money on medicore drinks and food. My boyfriend and I came in and ordered 4 drinks and our bill was over $100. It was horrible service and a single ounch margarita was $22. Genuinely outrageous. Will not be returning. read more

Stopped here late at night during our stay downtown! Employees were very friendly considering we came in an hour before close and there was barely anyone in there. Our waitress Olga was very sweet, always smiling and brightened our night! Her service was amazing. I have never had chicken Marsala, but I thought it was very tasty! My boyfriend got the fettuccine Alfredo and it was decent, nothing crazy. Someone described this place as a staple downtown, and I can agree. I ate here a few weeks ago and the food and service was great, so when I decided to change my original 50th birthday dinner plans to this location at the last minute for 13 guests, I took a chance on the experience and it was a true gift. It wasn't crowded, the place was clean and we were able to walk right in for our reservation. We had a wonderful experience. The timing of the food to table, the taste, and presentation was delicious and impressive! The menu items were reasonablly priced and the drinks were superb! Porta Di Roma saved the day for me and my guests as they welcomed us with attentive and personable service. It was a cherry on top for the chef to come and introduce himself- then gifted me a delicious tiramisu for my birthday! Mama Mia! Dined in here last night and the staff was extremely friendly. I've actually walked into this place before and walked out because I wasn't feeling it (yes I know, I was that annoying person). Anywho, this time I gave it a chance and boy did it impress. I did dirty things to the Ravioli al Vodka and I don't say this often... but you should too! Next up was the Spisy Pizza (spicy sausage?). Both were so good that I actually took them home with me, left them open on the table, and waited patiently until I could eat the rest. ONE THING - I will say I ordered a $60 bottle of wine that was supposed to be the nicer of wines... but it was no bueno. So I'd stick to the food. We came on a Sunday to see a concert near the Majestic Theater. Our open table reservation was at 6 pm. We arrived and were seated immediately. Contrary to another review, it was not overly crowded. We got a calamari appetizer, Linguini de Mare and I got the Mussel appetizer special that they created special for me to make a dinner meal with red sauce and spaghetti noodles. We also had their Spumoni dessert! We had a wonderful time eating delicious food with amazing service. Whoever does the plating of the food is amazing. Love the little flower on top of our main meal! We stopped by Porta Di Roma on a short Birthday weekend trip to Dallas. We wanted a late night dinner place with a chill romantic and unique vibe. This place hit those points. They were open late and hat an adorable like New York downtown, eat by the windows, lights outside vibe. The food was very good. I would not say the best Italian food ever but it was good and the service was pretty great! We had our 3 month old and we're able to put his stroller next to our table while he napped. Have visited this place 3 times in last few weeks. It is a terrific spot. Friendly, no wait for table or bar, prices are reasonable. Tried on a whim looking for "down home" Italian food. Spaghetti Marinara and basic pizza (not designer). Both were just right and hit the spot. Marinara sauce could use a little more (salt, pepper, garlic) and I don't taste a hint of basil, but it worked that night. Another we go chicken Parmesan and linguini & white clam sauce. The chicken parm was frozen (too bad) and difficult to eat. The linguini & clam was very tasty. Light and not overly oily or saucey. After a stroll through downtown, me and my s/o decided to give this spot a try! We sat at the bar and noticed that a lot of regulars attend this place (due to the conversations with the bartender) . I started out with a glass of wine and a Caesar salad! The house made croutons were tasty. I love a good salad. I ordered the Di formaggio which came with fresh bread for the table . We have made 2 attempts. They went from an open menu to a prix fixe menu. First time so slow (over 1 hour) to get our meal, so we left. 2nd attempt, with their limited choices and they were still slow & not too many people. Food was not great. Having traveled across the country, this place was across the street from my hotel and open for dinner. I took a quick look at the menu and some pictures of the place along with reading a few reviews on my phone and decided to give it a try. There was a football game going on so it was mostly groups of guys at the bar watching, it was a late mid-week night so the place was not terribly busy. I was met warmly by the hostess and chose a seat at the bar. The bartender was attentive and prompt, I suspect she is very quite successful in getting good tips as she seems to be good at her craft. My selection was the salmon and a salad, although they were nothing really special, at least I left satisfied. Sometimes, just sometimes, I let my cravings get the best of me. Today was one of those times. I like Italian food and heard good things about this place, so I showed up. The place/atmosphere: I got there at about 430pm. It was dark inside and I decided, at that moment, that it was kinda blah so I would get my food to go. I feel like this is not a place to sit unless you are with family. Even with the pretty bar, it just seemed rather blah. Most Italian places are pretty intimate, so nothing unusual from the norm. I passed the bar area and noticed there was a hostess stand but it was empty. I saw a lunch sign and an area in the back that looked like the to-go area, but when I got back there the cases were empty. No pizza, nothing. The signs were there and prices but no food. It looked like they were cleaning up behind the counter area to me. I hadn't peeked at the hours. The staff: There were maybe 4 people behind the counter so I just asked out loud if they were closing soon. No one answered, blank stares. I was considering if I asked that aloud or in my head, but I was kinda sure it was aloud. So.....as I was turning on my hells, someone said I will get you the manager.... huh??? the manager? ok....humor me, I thought to myself. But...why was the manager needed? So, the manager came to take my order, she had a thick accent (coulda been Italian like, I am not sure). She seemed annoyed and impatient with me looking over the menu. I wanted just a slice of pizza but they said they only serve slices at lunch, so I had to change my palate. That takes time. As I was standing in this small area, 2 waitresses came to stand. Odd, as I had seen no one before. I didn't like the aura of this place all of sudden, but I had the menu in hand. I considered leaving but I try to present a nice, serene perception. The food: I finally settled on the Stromboli, which was on the menu at $8.99 and with taxes was about $9ish. I was hopeful it came with a salad, but that was extra. I am a usual at Italian places, with Olive Garden holding the crown as my favorite, but I like to try different places. The to-go box was a big box. I thought it was huge, it was a normal pizza box but I hadn't ordered an entire pizza. I opened the box to find nicely wrapped packages that they made sure was presentable (they even included napkins and silverware, in the box). The food, in my opinion was not as I expected, but I will let you judge for yourself, you know I have pictures. Overall, I didn't like the service at this place, I felt like I committed a crime when all I did was walk in. The food, which I think the dough was a little undercooked for my liking, there was liquid on the inside and I prefer a little drier on the inside, there was grease or some juice maybe marinara running from the Stromboli before I cut it. This meant it would be soggy. Also there just wasn't enough cheese. I prefer more cheese. The portion size was huge, massive even, I'm sure two people could eat this and be full. The taste was bland to me. The mariana was a little lighter than I am used to, but some may like this. It definitely also had a lot of grease. read more

Meatballs and calamari are delish, I got the cannelloni, and my boyfriend got the tilapia! LOVED this! Would happily return! Had tiramisu for dessert ! Only complaint, which the staff helped with, was some regulars at the bar (one at least a professor at the university) 3 elderly skeevy old farts talking dirty, inappropriate, about their students. Let me start with Service. Lauren (Lo) was very pleasant and the only front end staff present. She was helpful and understanding. We ordered a shrimp scampi appetizer- (showed up after dinner as we were still willing to eat.) NOT COOKED FULLY!! Made incorrectly and cook tried to pass it off. It was originally put on a pasta dish taken off and given to us. However the Stuffed Eggplant I ate was good. The Chicken (Pollo O Vitello In Padella) wife ordered was good as well. She ask for a bed of vegetables and got pasta. Lo corrected quickly. If it wasn't for Lauren and her great Character it would have been rated 2 stars. Spoke with owner about the shrimp. He was slightly defensive and said he had been cooking for 35 years. Well I have been eating shrimp scampi longer and it wasn't good.
