Portillo's is the best! Being from Chicago, I was so happy to get one close by in Queen Creek! If you know, you know! My favorite is the beef sandwich dipped with giardinara. I have to say though, at this location, I am not kidding when I say they forgot my side of hot peppers 4 times in a row! Not sure why they can't remember the side of peppers! The food is generally well seasoned and cooked properly. However I like salads. The chopped salad is best as the lettuce is fresher than the spring mix which tends to be old and wilted not crisp at all. The chicken in the pecan salad was tender and delicious. The milk shakes are fabulous and fun. Generous portions too. So stick with the meats and sausages. They're the best! read more

Great new building, nicely done decor. Unfortunately food is average. Nothing wrong with it but just not special. I felt that it was over priced for the quality. Staff was nice and professional but way over staffed. Maybe reduce staff levels some and price food based on quality and the model might work. I had a spicy chicken sandwich and the chicken tasted like deli meat, thin and texture was processed. Wendy's is much better for about the same price. I had onion rings and they were Ok, but not worth the nearly $5 price. My daughter had a burger and said it was ok but nothing special. Five guys is ten times better for a little more. I make better fries at home in my ninja. Again place was nice, people were nice but beyond that food was average at best. No plans to go back. Better options in town. read more

I don't think anyone goes here for the chicken...but the chicken Greek salad is so good! And if you get the chicken sandwich and add all the yummy sweet and hot peppers it is perfect. The food at Portillo's is always amazing. I am a native Chicagoan and I can tell you l the food you get here is just as good as the food from the restaurants in Chicago. But I was particularly blown away by the service at this location. I am currently on crutches and the people working at this location could not have been more helpful and accommodating. From opening the door when they saw me coming to brining our food to our table when my order was ready, and checking to see if I needed anything else, even though my able-bodied mom was there to help me. this is a new location and found her food to be good for what it is. Their service is really excellent and clearly everyone on the floor has been trained thoroughly. I've never been in a fast food restaurant in. How did employee come over and asked me if they could take some trash off the table and inquire about all the food is. We've driven by the Portillo's in Gilbert hundreds of times and decided to finally try it. Before going, we read the reviews, but because they were mixed, we went anyways. My wife ordered the Breaded Chicken Sandwich, small fries, and a milk, I ordered the Italian Beef & Sausage Sandwich, small fries, and a large lemonade which came to $30.44. My wife said the chicken tasted like it came out of a box of frozen chicken patties you can buy at Costco and really didn't have any flavor. The Italian Beef on my sandwich was a little dry, but the sausage was juicy and great. I'm originally from back east, so I guess the Italians in Chicago don't believe in Italian tomato sauce, and we both agreed the fries needed to be cooked longer. The staff was friendly but they need to have someone in the dinning room to wipe down tables. Overall, we weren't that impressed, and with so many joints around in that area where we can go and the food is better, especially for what we paid, I don't think we'll be back anytime soon. read more

I bought a chopped salad with some chicken strips and a fry... $30! That's insane to me. Prices are fair. Restaurant is very clean. I ordered a Chicago Style Hotdog. It was honestly the best hotdog I've had since moving to AZ (24 years ago). I also ordered the sausage and peppers for my husband to go home. It was very good. My companion ordered one of the burgers and he liked it a lot. I'd suggest a visit. Yum! read more

Stopped in after a Costco trip. A friend of mine raved about their dogs and the Italian beef. I was in the mood for a chili dog. However decided on their Maxwell street Polish. There is something special about a dog done right. Basically a steamed bun, grilled onion, mustard and polish sausage. A match made in Heaven. Will definitely go back. I pass this place every day, but normally don't really appreciate Chicago style fare. However, my wife was out of town for work and my son was coming over after work and was going to pick up food on the way and wanted something from Cafe Zupa next door so I thought I would give it a shot. Ordering online was easy and the food was ready when expected...although all the items were in separate bags and each bag was well taped shut, as if it were a door dash/ uber eats order, so my son did not check the order when he picked it up. I ordered a Chicago Combo Bowl, a Double Cheeseburger and a slice of Salted Caramel Spice Cake. Upon unpackaging, the food was not hot, but not noticeably cold, so no harm no foul, but hot would have been nice since the restaurant was only 10 minutes from my house and my order was picked up last. I like my dessert first so I popped open the slice of cake first and it was what you would expect, a solid piece of spice cake, tasty and seemed fresh, but nothing special or that I would crave. Moving on, I opened the Double Cheeseburger next and while all of the customizations, no bun and no onion, were correct what I had in the box was a single patty with no cheese that was over cooked and dry. Needless to say I was extremely disappointed! I double checked the receipt, sure enough...it was supposed to be a Double Cheeseburger. I tried to save it with some additional ketchup and A1 sauce, but this burger was dead on arrival. With my wife out of town, I had ordered the combo bowl as something to have for lunch the next day, but was now glad I had and opened it. The food looked great and was prepared exactly as ordered...no peppers or onions and with mozzarella cheese. Unfortunately, the beef was bland and tasteless and the sausage was so salty I could only take a couple of bites and had to tap out. Not even spicy mustard could save these meats! Overall, for my first ever experience with this restaurant at about 6pm on a Tuesday night...the food was not good, although the quality of the burger I received was good and had it been cooked properly, warm and had cheese, it may have been just the kind of burger that would have brought me back. It was not an excessively busy time of day and the receipt on the bag clearly read double cheeseburger so I can only surmise the employees just don't care about the product being produced here. My son picked up the order, so I did not see the facilities, but he seemed impressed with what he said looked like a nice restaurant, not just a fast food joint. Regardless, nothing about my experience would prompt me to give it another shot. read more

We stopped there for lunch last week, Wednesday, August 7, 2024. Our order consisted of 2 beef sandwiches, dipped in au juice, with giardiniera peppers, and 1 small fry. In addition, we picked up a slice of lemon cake and a slice of chocolate cake, both pre-packaged near the ordering counter, to take home. The beef had a weird taste like it was reheated too many times or there was too much MSG. The lemon and chocolate cake were both old and were on the hard side (stale). Both pieces were tossed in the garbage. We are from the Chicago land area and visited Portillos many times, and many locations, in the past. First off, they have a cashless drive-thru that forces cash paying customers to park their cars and walk-in if you want to pay with cash? That's so stupid, it takes away from being quick and convenient! Secondly, I watched the attendant give my order to the car in front of me by mistake. I watched as the people rummaged thru my food bag with their unclean fingers, then give the bag back to the attendant after noticing the wrong bag of food. The attendant then brings that bag of food to me and said sorry for the mistake. I asked her if the people put their hands inside my bag and the attendant said no, when I sat their and watched them do it. She lied about it, so I won't be eating there again due to the unsanitary practices of their drive-thru attendants! read more

Honey mustard didn't come out with my tenders. Fish sammich had zero tartar sauce. And here's the kicker, my big beef combo didn't have the sausage in it. Whats the point of making an order..I should've just pulled up and said surprise me..what a waste of space for queen creek. $60 bill for nothing. They're lucky the service was so poor on completing my order, because I don't even have it in me to talk about the quality of food.. lets just say, I dropped some food on the floor and my dog didn't even go for it. They have recently just opened. Ordered a bacon cheeseburger, onion rings, and a strawberry shortcake to take home. The burger was very tasteful and quite substantial. The onion rings were seasoned and delicious. My nephew had the same thing, except for he had french fries, and they were very good, crinkle cut, cooked correctly. We enjoyed our meal very much, and there is quite a large dining room , very comfy feeling. The strawberry shortcake was great. They make it with mascarpone topping. Super good! The food tasted just as good as I remember from California and they still make everything the same thank goodness the dining room is quite clean and they have someone walking around making sure things are cleaned up and spills picked up, etc. will definitely be coming back. I haven't tried their hotdogs yet, it's nice to have a good burger place come to Queen Creek! read more

What my husband and I tried was the white fish sandwich, the bacon cheeseburger , the Italian beef and sausage sandwich with giardiniera peppers fully dipped . Along with fries and onion rings. The fish sandwich was delicious, my husband and I would go back just for the fish sandwich, the fish was fried crispy and the inside was white and fluffy. Very good. The burger was ok and the Italian sandwich was alright. The sides were both very good and crispy. Staff was friendly and the prices were reasonable.
