This was my first time at the Heights location, but I've also been to the Montrose location for the soft opening. Perhaps it's the location, or maybe it's because we're in the midst of a pandemic, but it didn't seem like there were as many options in the Heights. My sandwich was good, no complaints, but my son's pb&j sandwich, homemade chips, and fruit was not so good. The bread tasted old and stale and the chips were unfortunately soggy. Even the grapes were tiny and sour. So the manager wrote a nice response to my review, and I followed up (per his/her request), but I have not heard back. I would have been willing to give it another shot, but I guess it's a moot point. In reading other reviews, though, it sounds like this is more of a Charcuterie board and wine type place. read more

Please note this review is not to rag on Postino. The heights location is exemplary in its staff, environment, service and food, all be it but for one exception. Lenny. How she still has a job that requires interacting with people is as mysterious as fermi's paradox. She is crude and her energy is ugly and pathetic. I came in through the side entrance, there were a lot of open tables available. Instead of sitting myself down like guests sometimes do, I asked Lenny if I could sit anywhere. She said "you can ask the host" in the most passive-aggressive and hostile tone. Every-time I see her I meet her with kindness and I am met with disregard and hostility as if I am some bully of her past she's attempting to hurt, hence my description of her energy being pathetic. I love how the menu has reasonable portion sizes! Don't be fooled by this--the food is filling if you wait a few minutes for your stomach to be satiated. They also have items for those with allergies or special dietary restrictions. The dishes have quality ingredients and are presented beautifully. As an appetizer, the sweet potato wedges are great to share with guests and the sauce is scrumptious. The meatballs and goat cheese were so flavorful, juicy, and tender. The chives and tomatoes balanced the tang of the goat cheese. It is a small restaurant with a great ambiance, so on busy nights reservations will most likely have to be made and parking will be tricky. The staff is very friendly and understanding. This Postino location can be found in the same plaza as Warby Parker with a parking lot. However, on the day of my visit, I was unable to find any parking and ended up parking on the street and just walked over. I am no stranger to Postino, as my husband and I have been to one of the locations in Phoenix, Arizona (as this wine bar started out in Phoenix and now has a few locations in Houston and will be opening a new location in Denver, according to the manager) and was happy to see that there was a location here in Houston. They currently have a special for drinks (beer or a glass of wine) for $5 until 5 pm. We came here with our little girl dog and sat outside last Friday around 3:45 pm. The outdoor patio is pretty nice and has plenty of seating, but is only partially covered. There is also heat lamps out for cold days/ nights. I told an employee that we would like to sit outside and so she sat us at a table and gave us menus. We ended up ordering: Ayinger Brau Weisse Hefeweizen, $5 for a pitcher- We were surprised to find out that the special deal is for a pitcher and not a glass, which is a crazy good price for a whole lot of beer. My husband liked his beer. I thought it was just okay. Coppo (Moscato), $5 per glass- I really liked this moscato and would order this one again. Brussel Sprouts Salad, $11 prior to tax- I requested the salad dressing on the side. I liked this salad with different flavors and textures. So in addition to the brussel sprouts, it comes with kale, manchego, almonds, bacon and dried cherries. Pretty tasty and would order this salad again. Bruschetta, 4 for $15 prior to tax- For this, we ended up getting: -butternut squash: the current seasonal item and was told by the manager that it is tasty. But my husband and I thought it was a little bland. -brie, apple + fig: This one is always a favorite, as this is what we had ordered before and love how each of the ingredients all complements each other. But we did have a problem with this, which I will mention shortly. -ricotta dates pistachio: This one was also a good one. The dates work well with the ricotta and the pistachios give a nice crunch. -smoked salmon + pesto: I liked this one but my husband thought the pesto overpowered the smoked salmon and so you can't taste the flavor of the smoked salmon -------------------------- (Total= $38.97 after tax) During our visit, we had several problems, which we were not expecting since we had a good experience at the location in Arizona. The manager took our order, without writing it down and then left to put our order in the computer. However, maybe 5 minutes later, he came back and asked us what items for the bruschetta did we order again. Then a little afterward, the employee who sat us at the table, came out with a piece of paper to clarify what we ordered and also ask the items we wanted for the bruschetta. The order she told us was wrong and so she wrote it down and then left to place our order in the computer. So for something that should have come out sooner, it took more than 20 minutes from the first time when we made our order. Another thing was that my husband found a thinly sliced produce sticker on the apple slices (for the brie, apple + fig bruschetta. See my photos). I was pretty bothered since I ate that part of the apple and most likely ate the sticker. My husband brought this up with an employee and showed her the apple slices. She apologized and placed in a replacement order (this time there was no produce stickers on this, but had to wait for this to come out). At the end of our meal, the manager came to our table and apologized and acknowledged that most likely this was not the ideal dining experience that we were expecting and so he comped our meal and gave us a gift card for a future visit. Although the manager did apologize and comped our meal, this was just a really poor dining experience overall. I would definitely not come back to this location and would check out the other location in Montrose. read more

Whenever I'm in the heights and are unsure what to eat, this spot always delivers! Chill vibe and they always have a seat for us, even if it looks super busy. The brunch menu is our fav. We always have to get two orders of that delicious truffle Umbria toast. The cantaloupe stracciatella is an excellent refreshing complement to any meal. And my go to brunch drink is the sherry merry, Postino's take on the Bloody Mary. The OMG grilled cheese also lives up to its name! My friend and I came here for dinner and drinks before a concert a few weeks ago. We got here between lunch and dinner and the inside was packed. We were able to be seated inside which was great because it was so hot that day. They have a very large patio out front which would be nice to sit on once the weather cools down. Happy hour every day until 5 pm. As much as I wanted to have a pitcher of beer, we were short on time because we were going to a concert at White Oak (outdoors). I ordered a shorty (10 or 12 oz.?) of the St. Arnold's 5 O'Clock Pils. For my meal I did the select two with a Ceasar salad and turkey panini. My food was delicious! Our server was awesome too. We didn't have issues with parking since we came between lunch and dinner, but I'm sure if we had come for brunch or dinner it would have been a different story. The Heights neighborhood had been recommended by a local and after wandering around for awhile, we started looking for a place to eat and landed here. It was noisy both inside and out but we chose to eat outside. At 4:30 on a Saturday, it was packed and buzzing! Although it was happy hour, we weren't in the mood for beer or wine so settled on an Arnold Palmer (hubby) and just water for me. We split a bread board (choose four options) and it was a good option for a carnivore/vegetarian to share. I had the apple, Brie, and fig spread and the goat cheese and pepper (which was the seasonal offering) and both were good. Hubby had the burrata/bacon/arugula/tomato and the fresh mozzarella/basil and tomato. To complete our meal, Hubby had the meatballs and tomatoes (which he loved) and I had the Caesar salad with little gem lettuces that was very tasty. Tucker was as attentive as we could expect given how busy it was but if you are looking for a place with quiet ambience, this is definitely not your place!
