The beef used in the soups are a high quality, but the beef used in the bento box is very low quality and containing very little beef. Most of it is fat they strip into strips. Seems like they might cut off the fat pieces that they use in the soups and keep those trimmings for the beef bento box. We used to eat at Boiling Point when we are in the area with not that good impression due to the long wait and not that efficient waiting list (normally 1 hour wait every time) as you are not able to do waiting list online. I always had a waiter or waitress checking up on me to see if everything was okay. They have pretty big selection on hot pot. Food (4/5): we tried the tomato and curry pots and both were great honestly. I personally liked the curry a lot more because it was more favorable. The tomato pot, to me, was lacking just a tad of place but had a very nice tomato taste it, almost similar to HaiDiLao. From their unique Beef Bao to popcorn chicken, boba drinks, etc. I ordered the Kimchi Hot Pot and the Beef Satay Hot Pot. The Kimchi Hot Pot was delicious!! It's different then some of the Kimchi Hot Pots I have tried. There is a sour Kimchi taste to it, which hit the spot. It was delicious. I ordered it with glass noodles and the portion was good. The Beef Satay Hot Pot was very delicious. A lot of meat and toppings. I really liked it. I believe the pot was a little bit bigger than the Kimchi Hot Pot. I also ordered glass noodles with it and it paired well. Their Beef Rice Pot is a NO GO. Seriously, it was boiled beef with pretty much white rice and radish.. The fried Bao kind of gave a burger taste when eating the Bao. They have a banner inside showing their Baos and when I ordered I didn't realize for almost $4 it's only ONE Bao. Food was great. Service not at all. Ordered one Sukiyaki Pot to share with S.O. and an extra bowl of rice. Rice didn't come out until 30 minutes later when we had to finally say something. When I politely mentioned it to a server they just looked at me and proceeded to walk past me without saying anything. At least saying "one moment" or the like should be expected from quality service. When we finally got the rice, we had finished our hot pot and were at that point irritated. A cold New Year's Day evening motivated us to visit Pot on Fire. The place was beyond packed, there was no room to stand inside, and it was freezing outside. There was an outdoor heater outside, but it appeared it ran out of propane hours before. Once a couple people left, I was able to squeeze inside; thank goodness. Pot on Fire has an electronic check in system, and I noticed there were 17 people ahead of us. After the huddled group thinned out a little, we finally got a table. The manager apologized for the wait, which was not necessary but appreciated. There are so many hot pot options at Pot on Fire. I went with the Satay Pot and added glass noddles. As far as spice level, and although I love spicy food, I went with a safe 3 out of 10. My wife went with the Mushroom Pot with chicken at spicy level 1 (because she's smarter than me). Upon the food arrival, the pots smelled great. The Satay bowl included sliced beef, corn, mushroom, blood cake, a quail egg, and few more things. I noticed the bright red spice on top and dug in. WOW; a 3 out 10 spice level was through my personal spice comfort level for the moment. I had to scoop out some of the spicy soup and pour in some plain. It was not too spicy for the moment, but certainly could cause issues the next day. Regarding the Mushroom Pot, my wife really enjoyed; might try it next time. To wash it all down, I had a couple of Sapporos on draft, which were very cold. For how packed the place was the servers did a really great job. Similar concept to boiling point but i think I actually like Pot on Fire a little better! Here's what we got: 1. Popcorn Chicken (9/10): Actually some of the best popcorn chicken I've ever tried. The breading is perfectly crispy and not too thick, and the chicken itself was tender and flavorful. The only downside was that it was $7 and the portion was a little small for the price, but can't complain too much since it tasted pretty good! 2. Tomato Tofu Pot (10/10): My favorite pot to get! For $16 dinner price, the portion was pretty big and filling. I love the flavor of the broth and I thoroughly enjoyed all of the additions that were in the hot pot itself (tofu, glass noodles, pork belly, cabbage, fish tofu, & more!) If you love tomatoes, this is definitely the pot to get! 3. Taiwanese Spicy Pot ( 7/10): My boyfriend got the Taiwanese spicy pot, and it's definitely spicy so beware. If you love the feeling of Sichuan Peppercorns (mala), then you'll enjoy it! I think my boyfriend was underestimating how spicy it would be, so if he were to get it again he would probably settle for mild spicy. The overall flavor was decent though, and all of the additions were delicious! (~$20) Overall, definitely check it out if you're looking for a single serving Taiwanese hot pot experience. They have so many options so I'm sure there's a hot pot that will fit your taste buds!
