    Sesame pork noodles
    Prianka S.

Amazing sesame pork noodles and solid place to eat. Great location and good service too.

We have been to Urban Hawker a few times abd I always had a good to place with the White Beehoon with Chicken. I recently found out last weekend the store closed down, and looked over at Prawnaholics Collections to find my favorite food when I visit Urban Hawker.

So the Singapore Char Kway Teow is a dish I've never had before. Thankfully it was terrific. A deep carmelized soy taste was good but not overwhelming. Lots of noodles and some shrimp, it was just the right place for lunch. It was cooked to order which is great as too many food court places just precook their dishes. Not here. It was pretty quick too and the price is right. Enjoyed it a lot

Prawnaholic has all of my favorite Singaporean dishes: from char kway teow to chai tow kuay. All the food is made authentically, I can see all the woks in the kitchen. The Chai Tow Kuay (stir-fried carrot cake) was my dad's favorite childhood dish, which he hasn't had in 26 years. This brought back old memories and made him nostalgic. The flavors were savory, and this cuisine is not common in the US. I was quite disappointed by the Chili Crab, however, when we got very little crab meat, and too much sauce. We basically paid 40 bucks for hot and sour soup with crab flakes :( A 4 star review is very generous.

Authentic Singaporean food stall in Urban Hawker food court. The food is cooked fresh and piping hot. The service is efficient. The oyster omelette is an acquired taste with greasy oyster meat that is naturally salty with cilantro and fried omelette. The ambiance is fine literally and figuratively as there is a fun display showing all the things you can get fined for in Singapore.

Had the Singaporean Hokkien seafood noodles for my second time here. It was extremely salty and too much garlic. I had to drink lots of water afterwards. Sadly, not worth my $20. The cashier took my order but nothing spectacular with her service. Don't expect much from the food court atmosphere though. Will not come back.

    5. Dry Signature Torched Sesame Pork Rib Noodle

Great spot at Urban Hawker. The sesame pork rib noodles had the perfect balance of sesame, peanut sauce, and a touch of spice. Amazing dish, highly recommend.

Date: Saturday, May 4th, 2023 Time: around 7:30pm Meal: Dinner *Singapore Char Kway Teow ($18) *Singapore Hokkien Prawn Mee ($18) My group of four split up and came back with food to share. One of them hit up Prawnaholic. I believe he ordered the items above. The char kway teow was delish! Like a super flavorful version of one of my favorite canto dishes, beef chow fun dry style. I thought the hokkien mee was okay. I'm not a huge wet noodle fan, so this wasn't really up my alley. Tho if you like seafood noodles, you'll probably enjoy this. Great place to grab some noodles. I'd say the char kway teow is a must! REVIEW #3405

    Fried Oyster Omelet

Upon seeing Fried Oyster Omelette in New York, I was immensely impressed with this stall. Although this is a Singapore signature dish, it's rarely in the menu, not to mention in New York! It's cooked so well too. It's surprisingly authentic! When traveling away from Vancouver, Canada, I never attempt to order Chinese or Asian as it almost always is disappointing. But boy am I impressed with this place. I highly recommend this. Kudos to you!

Fairly quiet night at Urban Hawker. I ordered the Char Kway Teow and the oyster omelet. These seem to be the most popular and were recommended in The NY Times article they have posted. Most dishes, including these, are $18. They are made to order; I probably waited about 10 minutes or so. I liked the noodles in the char kway teow. I wasn't a fan of the Chinese sausage in it, too sweet and chewy for me. The omelet was really good but very greasy!!

    3. Singapore Hokkien Prawn Mee

Food and service were both subpar I went on a slow Sunday afternoon, around 5 Few customers Food took forever to get, was too salty, Hokkien mee came w 3 prawns and 1 squid, and on and on Never again

    Singapore Hokkien Prawn Mee

Food (4/5): We got the Singapore Hokkien Prawn Mee. It was pretty good although there some chunks of fatty meat that were a bit odd. The shrimp was fresh and delicious though. Only issue is that for the portions and quality it's a bit overpriced. Somewhat understandable for the location though. Service (4/5): The food took a bit to come out but overall still decent service. The food came out at an ok speed. The staff were helpful when asked but not particularly. Ambiance (4/5): It's part of the Urban Hawker food court. Tons of southeast Asian food options. There is lots of seats but because there are tons of people it's hard to find some.

After browsing the whole Urban Hawker food court, I decided to get the hokkien mee from here. There wasn't much of a wait and they packed it up nicely in a to-go bag for me. The wokhei really shone in this dish. There were pork lad bits, minced garlic, squid and shrimps. I liked how saucy this dish is as it's one of my favorite dishes I tried in Singapore. If the shrimp flavor was a bit stronger, I would have loved this dish more. This is a pretty good rendition of it without having to buy the $2k flight ticket to Singapore. There's plenty of seating and the AC was on blast. Props to whoever was in charge of the playlist there as I heard Yoasobi, TWICE and Seventeen during the time I was there. It is a food court located in Midtown so the slightly expensive prices make sense.

Not trying too hard, just comfortable and cool. I had a couple cocktails while I was there. They have a solid bar program and everything I tried landed. Then I got the Spicy Tan Tan and it was exactly what I wanted. The broth was the star. Deep, rich, and had just the right kick without going overboard. This one is located in NYC Manhattan 36th street. It's not very noticeable but has large door with its name on it. Inside is small space with bar counter, table and seats and kitchen at the end with dim lighting with pop music. We made a reservation but looks was it wasn't too busy since it had just opened at 11:45am. We were quickly sat down and looked through the menu with scan code. They offer variety of Japanese and fusion dish like tebasaki chicken wings, buns, rice ball, and few noodle dish like hiyashi chuuka cold noodle, ramen, tsukemen, and mazemen. We ordered few appetizers like chashu rice ball, mushroom buns, and i got spicy tan tan ramen and my partner got the miso ginger ramen. Chashu rice ball came with chashu, sauce, rice wrapped with nori. It's more like a sushi roll than a rice ball but it was ok. The pork was a bit dry and was messy to eat. Although it has omikuji/fortune slip inside that you pull out which is a unexpected fun addition to the dish. I ended up getting daikichi which means great luck. Mushroom buns were fluffy, flavorful and tasty despite vegetarian option. The spicy tan ramen was spicy, creamy and savory. The ramen came with half egg, few slices of chashu, menma, ground pork with spicy miso which you mix together. The broth is combination of rich, spicy and creamy and pretty strong sesame flavor. Noodles are thicker and chewer than what i'm used to. Chashu was nice and tender. menma was ok not very flavorful. Overall a solid ramen but not particularly special. I honestly prefer ichiran better. Service was good and staffs were attentive Overall a good experience but it didn't stand out enough for me to come back. Cool place and maybe nice for dates or if you want to drink as well. Price is definitely on the higher side for ramen. I've had ramen in Japan and my standard is high but i can find similar type of restaurant that is cheaper closer to home in US.

I have a shrimp allergy and politely asked if the shrimp tempura could be substituted. The server immediately said no, without offering any alternative or showing much concern. For a restaurant, especially one serving customizable ramen dishes, with a allergy list post on the wall by the counter where I sat at B1, a little flexibility or empathy toward food allergies would go a long way. The interaction felt dismissive and unwelcoming, which made the overall dining experience uncomfortable. Customer service matters just as much as the food, and sadly this visit fell short. The smashed cucumber was good. Spicy dumpling was good. Ramen broth was light, not as rich or flavorful as others. There are so many good ramen places in NYC, this Chinese Ramen place has lot of room to improve.
