Someone always answers the phone relatively quickly , and I found each person that I have communicated with to be professional and courteous. The only issue that I see is that they don't carry a full stock of tires onsite. They didn't have the size I needed, so they had to order from a different location. It took about a week for my tires to arrive. I promptly set up an appointment for the following day and headed on down to the store. Once the gentleman checked me in and took my keys , my car was ready in about 2 hours. I am not sure if America's Tire is the cheapest option available, but my experience was pleasant for the most part. On a side note , I took advantage of their 0 interest for 6 months financing option.

That was a bit frustrating because it made me wonder what the point of making an appointment was if you can't check in separately. That said, I now understand why it's still helpful to make an appointment -- once I was checked in, things did move along as expected. My overall wait was about 1.5 hours, which honestly wasn't too bad considering walk-ins were being told it would be over two hours. Once I was helped, the associate told me my car should be done within an hour since I had an appointment. Standing in the same line as walk-ins was a bit annoying at first, but I can see that the appointment helped with the overall timing. I purchased two Continental tires for $670. Thankfully, I only needed two. I even called my husband to double-check if the price was reasonable, and he said it was, so I went ahead with it. It felt like a lot, but with a baby, having safe and reliable tires is absolutely worth it. Overall, the staff was polite and the pricing seemed fair for the brand. My only suggestion would be to create a separate check-in line for appointments to make the process clearer and more efficient. I would still return.

I paid this installer $150 per hour to install my car audio system. While the system functions, I…read morewas disappointed with several aspects of the installation quality and attention to detail. The amplifiers were mounted inside the wheel well area, but when it came time to reinstall the trunk floor cover, it would not sit flat because the amplifiers were mounted too high. Instead of redesigning the installation so everything fit properly, the subwoofer enclosure had to be forced into the trunk, leaving a noticeable hump in the trunk floor. For a professional installation, I expected all factory panels and covers to fit correctly when the work was completed. I am also concerned about the amplifier placement because the amplifiers become very hot after driving on warm days. While I understand that amplifiers generate heat, mounting them in a confined area with limited airflow does not seem ideal for long-term reliability. Another concern is the grounding configuration. The capacitor was grounded directly to the battery, and both amplifiers were grounded through the capacitor rather than using a local chassis ground. While there may be technical reasons for this approach, it was never explained to me, and it differs from what many installers typically do in trunk-mounted systems. Better communication regarding the design choices would have been appreciated. Overall, the system works, but the fitment issues, equipment placement, and lack of attention to the finished appearance left me disappointed. For the price charged, I expected a cleaner installation, proper fitment of the factory trunk components, and a more professional final result.

Extremely pleased with Dave's overall work, advice and honest second opinion!! Sarah's friendliness and welcoming personality makes you feel like family. Had all the work of our 3 cars (both BMW 2005/2011 and 2017 Benz) performed in Dave's shop. Whenever I had Qs or need explanation about certain car issue/part, Dave took the time to had me looking under the car with him, explaining the parts and how they are working and why they are important. He was patient and answered all my Qs. After I was debating whether to sell or keep my third car, Dave gave me his honest evaluation of the car and the state it's in. He also valued it in case I would want to sell it. All in all, he gave me the peace of mind that I needed and a competent evaluation!! They will regularly apply extra discount on the final bill. They usually give you the list price of the parts and an estimate of how long it would take his crew. He doesn't take time to BS you because he seems to legitimately love working on cars, not trying to bilk money out of anyone. After they completed the break job and oil change to one of our cars, Dave/Assistant were kind enough to be able to drop the car off by our house as I was going to stay late at work. These guys (especially Dave and Sarah) are the very best in terms of good work and humane attitude. I have an older car and it isn't worth having a car payment, so I keep getting it fixed. They have done the best work (I live over 50 miles away from them in a place where there is not very trustworthy mechanical help), but I keep taking my car over the hill to Dave and his crew because I never have to worry when I drive the car out of the parking lot whether or not I'm going to have to go back. The last time I went in I thought my engine was blown or something, only to find out that it was something a lot easier to repair and much cheaper. I would never go to anyone else for my car repairs. Like Glen, I have no idea what happened to Miki, but nothing like that has ever happened to me at Preferred. I think maybe she got overwhelmed with the suggestions, but 15K on the brakes means they'll have to be done sooner rather than later. I trust Dave and the crew completely, and I have over 206K on my car and counting. Until the car costs me over the amount it would take to pay for a new car every month (I estimate that to be around $400/month=$4800/year) I'll be going back to Preferred Auto. Short story. It doesn't get better than this. Period. From beginning to end the best communication, service, paperwork and repairs...........Ever. Long story, my 2008 Ford van broke down in Coalinga, CA, on Interstate 5 at night. The wheel bearing welded itself to the spindle. AAA wouldn't tow me to Mountain View (Another story), just Gilroy. Dropped me at a closed Preferred Automotive on Sunday, hot, no transportation. Finally got one of only two cabs in town. I left the keys in the box at the gate and a message on the phone. Honestly......After the treatment from AAA, I expected the worst. I got the best. Dave called the first thing in the morning, told me what I needed, Sarah had the paperwork ready. In my search for someone to service my car, I came across Preferred Automotive. I called to get a quote for a Service B for my Mercedes C300, I was satisfied with the quote I was given, so I made an appointment. I arrived at 8 o'clock that friday morning they made me feel very welcome, offered me coffee and asked me to please have a seat. In less than five minutes they came over and asked me for my keys to do a small inspection, mileage etc. for the paperwork. Came back, we went over the paperwork to make sure that was what I wanted to have done and said it would probably be an hour and a half before they complete my car, asked me if I needed a ride or if I like to wait. So I waited and it only took an hour. Long story short, customer service was fantastic and the shop was one of the cleanest shops I've seen in a long time. Top rated repair that does quality work and has the know how to fix all manner of problems even in the most exotic of cars. I wouldn't trust my Jaguar to anyone else. My hood release broke and they immediately got the cable part needed and installed it properly so that my release has no problems in pulling on it now, and is an ease to use because it functions now as it is supposed to. In addition all parts used in repair of my vehicle are warranted by them for two years to be freely replaced if anything happens or becomes defective. I have no worries that they won't be able to fix whatever may go wrong in my car, because they are experts who know what they are doing. I needed a local shop to do an alignment on my Mercedes. Preferred Automotive was the first to come up in my Google search. They had an online coupon for an alignment too! Although I did not make my decision solely based on the coupon. After looking at their reviews, I felt comfortable taking my car there. I made an online appointment (very easy) and was pleasantly surprised to get a confirmation back. Sarah was as pleasant as all of the reviews state and the shop was "Penske" clean. I got a shuttle ride back to my house and a call a few hours later when the work was completed. Oh I almost forgot, Sarah had fresh baked cookies there when I picked my car up. I have been around auto maintenance and repair all my life. My Dad called me his little grease monkey. My dad built and restored every thing from mini-bikes to Harleys, dune-buggies to boats to old Cadillacs and Mustangs. I was always over his shoulder watching and learning. I have been coming to Dave and Sarah for over 10 years and through a couple cars. Friendly, honest, concerned, fair, helpful, reliable, accommodating, did I say honest? There have been a few occasions where I've been stuck with a dealer or another mechanic because of logistics, and each time I say never again- they continue to out perform and service my vehicles like no other. They have even saved me loads of money recently because a dealer tried to upsell me on services that I didn't need. They go out of their way in every detail. Gilbert S. I am from Rancho Cucamonga in southern California, a contractor working a 10 week project in Gilroy. My Jeep broke down and was towed to Preferred. Sarah was able to fit me in, and got me back on the road in less than 3 hours. Went to Preferred Automotive because my husband had a coupon. I was very impressed. Not only was the office clean and neat, but the repair bays were also very clean and orderly. Staff was friendly helpful and polite. The mechanics who came thru the office seemed very knowledgable and professional (not making jokes or talking about clients or other employees). We brought my son's 2007 BMW in for David and the team to diagnose and ended up needing a new engine, clutch, alternator etc. They were wonderful in communicating with us along the way and even offered to have us come in to actually SHOW us what was wrong with our own eyes rather than just take their word for it. We had them do all the work and the car is running great!!! The cost was definitely fair and we have found our new auto shop for all of our cars!!! Dave is Very Friendly also dependable explains everything that was done w vehicle, My Car was done in a timely manner. Great first time experience! Took me right away and repaired my car in 24 hours. Discounted the cost for me as well! Was a little concerned that I had to bring it back in for a horrible noise on starting about 2 weeks later, but they saw it right away again turned out to be a missing clamp on a different spot, but they fixed with no charge to me because they had no way of knowing if it had been bumped during the last repair or not. The owner David greeted me as the tow truck driver unloaded my BMW off the flatbed. There was a brief conversation about what happened. David named a few things that could have gone wrong with the car and about how much it would cost me. As soon as his crew pinpointed the issue, I rec'd a call with information on; cost, issue, and time. Where's the picture of your awesome front office manager? Sarah is extremely knowledgeable about auto mechanics and very helpful. Dave always takes good care of our autos but best of all you can trust him. Back when we first started going to Dave I had my car smog check done at another facility that also does mechanical work. They said I needed both front and back brakes. I took it to Dave and he said, " If I replaced your perfectly fine brakes I wouldn't be able to sleep at night." read more

I live a bit out in Monterey, but have three cars and had been looking for a good, honest, and reasonably priced mechanic. I plan to use them as my regular moving forward.
