President Thai deserves a huge shoutout from me. I am obsessed with their flavors. Do not forget to ask for the spicy spicy. I love the vinegar jalapeños!! Lunch specials are a great way to sample before you commit to dinner portion. The Pad Kee Mow was an explosion of flavor in every bite and please do not skip the Orange Chicken, yes that Orange chicken. Lunch specials come with soup or salad and fried wontons.

Hello Mr. President, Thai! The first word that comes to mind about this restaurant is "authentic". As soon as we entered President Thai, their classic interior gave total authentic vibes. We knew we were in for a treat. They have an extensive menu, and with pictures! We ordered their pad Thai, pad see ew, and president beef special. Wow. Each dish was so delicious! My favorite was their pad see ew. Each of their dishes were so flavorful, generous, and appetizing. I loved the chewiness of their noodles, and the tenderness of their meat. We finished off with their mango sticky rice and it was the perfect way to end an amazing dinner! I may have eaten too much, but it is totally worth it to splurge at the restaurant. If you are looking for a delicious, generous, and authentic Thai cuisine, this is the spot for you. Salut, President Thai!

First time here and I don't think I'll be back. Came in with a party of 6 with a toddler, The layout is nice but personally I felt squished where we sat and it was hot. They said outdoor was cool but none of the fans were hitting us. The parking is very small and crowded. The staff were okay just felt like we were being rushed to order and they checked up on us 1 time and when we were finished eating. Soo many options to choose from, we ordered the fried calamari, orange chicken pad see ew, garlic pepper chicken and tom ka. The orange chicken and fried calamari was my favorite. Very flavorful. Great portion size. The other dishes were eh. Had better. The Thai tea was super sweet. Didn't enjoy it. Don't think I'll be coming back.

Been coming here for years. It's our favorite thai restaurant in SoCal. Food is consistently good & they have an extensive menu. Place always feel homey, and staff r always hospitable. For lunch today, we decided to try the crab roll appetizer which was good, but not gonna lie... I'll probably order something else next time. Ordered the mooping with sticky rice... nice portion of meat. Flavor's fantastic. We also got the green curry fish filet which we always order when we come here.

I always pass by this restaurant and it always looks pretty busy so I finally decided to try it. I ordered take out and ordered 3 dishes and the total was $69, which is a bit pricey in my opinion. The food was sooo yummy. Very tasty and delicious. All the flavors were great. I think this is definitely one of the best Thai food places I've been to. I'll definitely be coming back. I do think it is pricier than other places but I do think the taste of the food definitely made it worth it.

Came here for a work lunch and the food overall was good. The presidents bbq was really good and they had lunch special. Crab fried rice was good but it was a little dry. Our waiter was attentive. Owner seemed cheap about takeout containers. We were a party size 10 why be so cheap on containers? Makes me wonder what else are you cheap in the kitchen. He was so hesitant to even bring out more containers.

I think I just found my new favorite Thai restaurant in this neighborhood! Been wanting to try here for ages, but it's always packed when we drive by. I completely understand now. Went for an early dinner with my bf. Was greeted so warmly by the staff and seated promptly. We wanted to order some of our typical dishes so we can compare, so we got their Baby Corn Mushroom with Chicken, Green Curry with Sole Filet, and Thai Style Basil Ground Pork with Fried Egg. OMG! They were all gloriously drool-worthily divine!! Likely the most flavorful of these dishes that I've ever tried at a Thai restaurant to date! Completely exceeded all my expectations!! And the portions were so generous! We were so occupied stuffing ourselves silly, that we completely forgot to make room for dessert! And we still had a ton of leftovers to take home! I love this place so much already! Super friendly and attentive staff. Gorgeous decor with an appreciative traditional feel. Limited parking in lot, but it looks like the regulars prefer parking on the street out front when we were leaving. Already planning to return next time our Thai craving hits to try more of their yummy dishes! Highly recommend!!

Ambiance is amazing, food is delicious, and the workers are so kind and helpful. Portions are plentiful and wonderful. Spice is a little uneven, so if you're super specific about spice level, you can ask for hot sauces to come to your table and you can apply them yourself. Love that!! Parking is easy because of their lot. Will definitely be back!

Was visiting the gardens nearby and saw this highly rated Thai restaurant. We found parking easily in the lot adjacent to the restaurant. We were seated promptly at noon on a Sunday with no reservation. They have really reasonable lunch specials, with lots of options. I ordered the ginger onion beef which came with rice, and a salad. Everyone enjoyed what they ordered, and the restaurant was comfortable, and spacious.

President Thai Restaurant is one of those places that makes you think you're about to have a luxury dining experience. The dining room is gorgeous. The decor is upscale, the plating is beautiful, and the portions are surprisingly generous. The food itself tasted very good. To be fair, all of that elegance appears to be included in the bill. Compared with most Thai restaurants, the prices are noticeably higher--probably 20-30% more, sometimes even beyond that. I wouldn't have minded paying the premium if the service had matched the atmosphere. Unfortunately, it didn't. The restaurant was busy, and our table seemed to be forgotten more than once. Our final dish took over 30 minutes to arrive. Nobody checked in, nobody explained the delay, and by the end of the meal we were mostly just staring at the empty plates wondering whether the last dish had entered a witness protection program. When the check arrived, reality arrived with it. Three dishes, one coconut drink, plus tip. Just as expected, the bill marched confidently past the $100 mark. Still, none of that was the most memorable part of the evening. The most memorable part began approximately three minutes after I left the restaurant. As I sat down in my car, I noticed a faint disturbance somewhere deep within my abdomen. Nothing alarming at first. Just a small warning signal. A diplomatic message from my digestive system. Then negotiations broke down. Halfway home, my stomach launched what can only be described as a full-scale military operation. Every traffic light became a personal enemy. Every red light felt like a direct attack on my civil rights. At one point, I was calculating whether it would be faster to continue driving or start praying. I barely made it home. And when I say barely, I mean that with a level of sincerity usually reserved for survivors of natural disasters. To be fair, I cannot prove the restaurant was responsible. Maybe I have a sensitive stomach. Maybe one ingredient didn't agree with me. Maybe fate simply chose violence that evening. What I do know is this: Very few restaurants have ever served me a meal that was followed by a genuine sprint to the bathroom. The food looked fantastic. The portions were generous. The decor was beautiful. But the service was disappointing, the prices were steep, and the ending was far more exciting than I had hoped. I won't be returning. As for the salad, I wish future diners the very best of luck.

Presidents Thai Visited April 24th Parking: The restaurant and parking lot is a bit awkward to pull into as it is off a busy street, but once getting into the lot there is a decent amount of parking. The total area of the parking lot is a bit tight and maneuvering both in and out of it can be tedious so I recommend reversing parking into the spots as it makes leaving the parking lot much easier. Ambiance: The decoration was very nice and there felt an attention to detail, making the place feel more regal and more upscale than your regular weeknight Thai spot. The seating felt nicely spaced out, and even the plates felt like a cohesive and nice touch. On a Friday evening at around 5:30 pm there was no wait for a table for 2. Also just a quick warning- bring a light jacket because it was a bit chilly. Food: We ordered the Pad Thai with chicken and the Mussamun Curry with tofu. The Pad Thai arrived hot, generously portioned, and topped with all the classic garnishes you'd expect from a good Thai restaurant (although the cabbage in the pad thai felt odd). We ordered medium spice, and our server brought out additional chillies and sauces so we could adjust the heat to our liking.The Massaman Curry was new to us, and it absolutely delivered. The curry had a rich depth of flavor creamy, warm, slightly sweet, and filled with comforting spices without feeling overly heavy. It was packed with potatoes, onions, and cashews, creating a hearty and satisfying dish. We had seen other reviews showing baby corn and additional vegetables in the curry, so we were a little disappointed that those weren't included during our visit. Still, it was a unique and flavorful dish that we were happy to try. The bowl of rice they gave us was a little dry, but it soaked the curry well and was fine. Overall both dishes tasted fresh, flavourful, and high quality. Service: The servers were polite but did not come around often. Although getting a hold of a check was a pain. Overall: Presidents Thai delivered a solid and enjoyable dining experience, especially when it came to the food and ambiance. The overall vibe was warm and welcoming with the decor and seating. The dishes were well executed and stood out in flavor. Also seemed to be worth the price considering the portions.

I just love this restaurant! It is a beautiful, immersive restaurant that feels like you're stepping out of San Gabriel Valley and into Thailand. Moreover, the food is fantastic! I switched it up today and instead of getting my go to Pad Sew ew, I opted for the beef and meatball noodle soup. I already love their more traditional dishes, and the noodle soup is just as delicious. It was packed with savory flavor from the noodle to the broth. You know it's tasty when you slurp every last drop of the soup. The beef balls are especially delicious and actually reminds me of the Indonesian beef balls I grew up with. Lastly, if you love dessert or just have a sweet tooth, the Mango Sticky Rice is a must! It is my favorite dessert, and President Thai doesn't disappoint!

This place wasn't bad, I've just had better. I went here with my friend's family for a dinner. Parking is iffy but there's a human outside that directs you where to park so that's helpful. They have an extensive menu so I would suggest taking your time with it. The main item I would suggest is the pad se u (probably spelled wrong). It was really good, but you can tell there's a lot of sodium in it. Basically the noodle dishes were great but everything else felt lackluster. Service was alright. Even if our server didn't help us we still found someone that would so that was nice. They have an outside area which seems quieter than the inside if that's your thing. I probably would go again if asked but I wouldn't drive out to this place alone. read more

I've heard great things about this place, so we went on a Sunday evening. Unfortunately, our experience was so-so. It was busy, At check in, we were told that outside seating would be in a few minutes, but if we wanted to be seated inside, it would be a 30 minute wait. We wanted to sit inside and were fine with the wait because we were waiting for the rest of our party to arrive. About 20 minutes later, we were called to be seated. To our surprise, they sat us outside. At least there were heaters, so we didn't complain about it. It took 10 minutes for someone to acknowledge our table. It was crazy busy, and we're a patient bunch, so we understood. We put our order in and waited... ...and waited. And waited. And waited. About 40 minutes after placing our order, our server, looking extremely stressed, tells us that when he put our order in the system, the system went down. He had to place our order in again. The system going down wasn't his fault. Just bad luck for both of us. I guess the expedited our order, because our soup order was ready in a few minutes -- except that it wasn't the right soup. He took it back. It's been an hour since we were seated when the rest of the order comes, and they were all great! But if I'm being completely honest, the food wasn't exceptional and it was on the pricey side. I lived in Thai town a few years ago, and I got so used to the affordable, CRAZY good food there. Food that I immediately craved the moment I finished eating. Food that I still go back to even after moving to Northern California. Please don't get me wrong -- President Thai's food is great. I've just had better. Oh yeah, our soup order? It came last, and guess what. It was still wrong! But we didn't feel like taking it back. We checked the bill later on, and it turns out our order was keyed in incorrectly. This was such a long dinner. No compensation was offered for the long wait due to system failure. We weren't expecting it though, but it would've been nice. The waiter was extremely apologetic though, so no hard feelings. If I'm in town and want Thai food, I think I'll skip on this one. read more

DO NOT GO HERE. HORRIBLE MANAGEMENT AND TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. During COVID, I'm trying to help small businesses, but this place's management is absolutely unbelievable. I placed an order for pick up and I was told that the order was going to be ready by 6:45 P.M. As I got there, I noticed a bunch of people waiting and I heard people were waiting for the pick up order for "one hour" and even "two hours." Legit, TWO HOURS waiting in their driveway. People kept asking about their order status and they were told "five more minutes, ten more minutes, or we are just waiting for one more item." As people wanted answers, they would say next customer in line...help one person and then walked away in the back. Keep in mind there were probably 30ish people waiting. People are trying to get answers, and they were just ignoring people left and right. The main host gave a bunch of attitude as people were politely asking about their status. No food is worth being treated like this, NO FOOD. This place needs to do better, MUCH BETTER. They lost a customer. read more

Amazing. Ordered takeout and the noodles were perfectly cooked and the beef juicy and tender. An eggplant dish with chicken was perfect too. The restaurant puts takeout in foil plus paper box or a black/clear plastic container which is a big plus! No styrofoam. Mango sticky rice was en pointe as well with ripened mangos and well done rice. Highly recommended! read more

The quality and flavors are okay but not as authentic as expected. It was very disappointing that the dishes were mild in spice, even though we asked for the spiciest heat level. We got the Yellow Curry with Duck, Duck Noodle Soup and Pad Kee Mow. All dishes were not bad, they just didn't have that kick that would send them away from mediocrity. read more

This was my first time at President Thai, even though I understand that it has been a staple in the East Pasadena area for many many years. We went for a lunch with a party of 7 on Wednesday, March 15th at about 11:45. To our surprise it was already about half full at that time. It was really cold in the restaurant, so if you like air conditioning, you will love it. Overall, the experience was really good. They have a lot of different items on the menu and a lot of lunch specials. Our service was good and the food was good. I personally had the Orange Chicken lunch special, and it was delicious. Others in my group had the Pad Thai, Three Flavor Fish, and many other items. Everything we had was rated good to great. Hint: The Thai Iced Tea was pretty tasty and refreshing as well. The only snafus we ran into that I would like to see improvement upon: We got one lunch special menu for our party of seven and when we asked for more, they said they were out of them. They should probably print a few more. Secondly, two people got the main entrée and then the rest of the entrees took an additional 10 minutes. I believe they should have come out a little bit closer together. Certainly a good experience, and I would return again. read more

Just have dinner with friends here for the second time. Arriving around 8 at night, the area is pretty dark and quiet. The restaurant wasn't busy when we get there. There are two lady servers about 2 man busboy (is this place sexist or something XD JK). We quickly order and the food come out not too long compared to the other thai restaurant. First the food: we order the shrimp glass noodle and crying tiger and fried soft shell crab. The food is pretty oily and a lot of msg. I can't stop drinking water to wash away the itchiness of msg. The noodle was soggy. The service was pretty good. Our servers is nice and police. And that is a good thing cause they have to keep refill me with water. I don't think I would come back here unless I don't have much choice. read more

I've been coming to this restaurant for some time now since one of my client's parents recommended it to me I recommend coming here around 11:30am to 3:00pm so you can avail their lunch specials! I usually get the Beef Panang (which is sooooooo creamy and savory) or the Pad See Ew (chicken). Then I add as my side, the coconut soup and substitute the chicken with Shrimp. I tell yah, you should try it! Makes a big difference in flavor! The atmosphere is really nice as well, very traditional interiors, the wait staff are really accommodating and always have a smile on their faces! Great Customer Service!!! It was packed. Not worth the wait of 45mins for the food on a Sat Nite. Ordered Shrimp Pad Thai(too sweet), Mossamon Beef(too watery /too much lemon grass) and Shrimp Cake (too rich). All failed!!!! Worse Thai food. Compared to Sanamluang. 4.5/5 First time here. I've always asked my friends who were living in the area these past years where the best Thai food place is in 626 and they've always said to come here. I still think that San Diego has the best Thai food but I'm bias because I like my Thai food really really spicy so I'm giving this a 4.5 stars because it wasn't spicy enough even though i got a level 8...should have went for the 10 but the Pad See Ew was great and flavorful. The Mango Sticky Rice, however, was bomb af. Anyone who goes here has to get that! read more

Always enjoyed coming here. Just not the parking or the wait but was well worth it, as always. Always get the tofu with the minced meat. Can't go wrong with that dish with rice. Always get the crab cakes as appetizer. DO IT! Friends get green curry with chicken. Has a kick to it. Yum. Tom Yum and cat fish was just ok if you're craving for it. Surely go back next time to conquer another portion of the menu. read more

Love this place. The service, the atmosphere, the furniture, the music, the food. It's really a very complete dining experience when you're wanting Thai food -- moreover, the menu is really, really extensive so it's quite easy to have a meal where everyone can find something. Honestly there's been maybe one dish where I was like eeehhhh, though other than that, I really have had a solid dining experience here on a consistent basis. Definitely the favorite place to get Thai food imho for the immediate/neighboring Pasadena / San Marino areas. Maybe one downside is that it gets really busy -- which is great for them, though sometimes service can take a bit longer. I usually try to avoid coming here during peak times because it gets buuuussssyyy. read more

Well we came here because of all the good reviews. We ordered three dishes: the seafood in Tom yum soup was not fresh, especially the calamari which was very fishy. They also used imitation crab meat in the soup, which was surprising. Pad Thai was too sugary. Green curry was ok but the chicken was over cooked. The place was quite loud. read more

Every time I come here, I always enjoy my meal and dine-in experience. The food always remains at its high standards and the waiters/waitresses are very kind and always have a smile on their faces. Even the guys in the parking lot directing traffic always seem happy. My favorite dish to order at President Thai is the President BBQ Beef. The cilantro dressing that comes with the charbroiled beef, is amazing. The flavors really compliment one another. The interior is also very grand, but not too pretentious. They even have a small outdoor seating area that has water fixtures to add that extra ambiance. Overall, I love dining her and will be coming back again and again. read more

Just moved to the area and was craving Thai ~ I ordered the pad see ew, roasted duck curry, jumbo shrimp coconut soup & of course, the mango sticky rice. All of the dishes were 10/10 *chef's kiss* Ordering online via yelp was super easy, and the wait was not long at all. I definitely recommend this place Thank you for the delicious meal! read more

I got the usual, Chicken pad thai from this place and all of a sudden my stomach was hurting and I was feeling off. Not too long afterwards, I started puking and experienced symptoms all similar to food poisoning. I have no idea what happened but my cousin also ate a little bit from my plate and felt stomach pains as well. I would not recommend coming to this place anymore as their food is expensive, poisonous and not fresh. I puked a total of 4 times in one night just from the pain alone. I would recommend avoiding this place if you want some decent thai food. read more

I ordered my food and went to pick up. They said it was going to take 35 to 40 minutes. I arrived on time and was left waiting over an hour for my food to be prepared. They prioritize delivery app orders over phone in orders. The food here is delicious but I don't believe that it is worth the wait. read more

I ordered to-go... first impression is that it's way overpriced, $20 for a pot of soup. NO utencils, NO napkins, the person taking our order at the cashier responded in whispers, completely inaudible. when our order was ready, the person who brought out the food interrogated me asking what i ordered, after I already gave them my name! The food servers and bussers are super friendly and nice, but overall place seems like a ripoff. They cant even get the fundamentals of including utencils or napkins. despite all of that, the food is very authentic read more

The food here is good. Today I ordered takeaway because pandemic. I called in an hour before for pick up at a specific time and waited AN HOUR for my order, along with about a dozen others that also we're waiting a long time. One HK lady cursed under her breadth in Cantonese on her way out. Another person partially brought food to his car so his kids cam start eating first. It was that bad. I would not recommend ordering take out from his place- logistics wise they just aren't there. read more

Yes I went there at President Thai yesterday Sept 13,2023 to have lunch with my friend and we were greeted by Floy and I ordered padsiwe and I told her if nstead of the chicken I want beef and not the broccoli but the Chinese broccoli I wanted and she said it's okay with that same price is $14. 99 and my friend ordered chicken chowmien with th same price of $14,99 but Floy asked if she likes white meat of the chicken and my friend says yes , not telling us that it will costs more fore the white chicken meat .so our food came just to find out that the food I ordered was full of stem of the broccoli and a little piece of the leaves of the Chinese broccoli and Ali it'll bit of the wide noodle and was dry. The arm of the broccoli was hard a. Me and my friend was talking about it and the 2 customers who were eating was talking to us also said oh yeah it's all stem of the broccoli. I lost my appetite and never again will go to this place. The food was good. The servers were courteous. The issue was the time it took to get the food out to us. We got in at 1:30 ordered by 1:45 and didn't see any food until after 3. Pretty much everyone came and went and we were still unserved. I asked the waitress if maybe they "forgot" about us and she had blank Stare as if thinking "what do i say to that?". Maybe the cooks didn't come back after the pandemic ‍ . Over an hour is way too much when the place was half empty. read more

This place remains my go-to for Thai food in the sgv. I usually take it to go, but I have dined in with my family many times (pre-covid). The service whether dining in or take out is excellent. Great place to grab Thai food with many options. Definitely worth coming here for their lunch special where you can get anything from pad thai to red curry at a affordable price. It also comes with a soup or salad along with it and it is definitely enough to fill you. The red curry had a nice flavor to it and a good amount of spice to compliment the rice. Customer service is amazing and the restaurant has a nice theme to it. read more

The truffle wok seared noodles with scallop is a dish that combines savory, smoky flavor with luxurious truffle and tender scallops, which bridges the gap between classic Asian stir-fry and Italian comfort food. As a massive sucker for Italian food and all things truffle, this dish was my favorite. The al dente handmade egg noodles were wok-tossed in a rich black truffle sauce with delicious mushrooms, fresh Brussels sprout leaves, and perfectly seared scallops. I loved that I could taste the black truffles. The truffles added a nice rich, earthy, and highly savory flavor with prominent notes roasted nuts. GET THIS DISH!!!!! The slow-drip Vietnamese coffee flan is a silky, rich egg custard infused with bold phin-drip coffee and sweetened condensed milk. The portion of the ramen was medium sized and was surprised they didn't bring a smaller size since it was a set meal. But happy they were generous! They were a nice size, tasted good, and the staff kindly cut them in half for us, which we appreciated. The yakisoba, unfortunately, was much sweeter than I prefer and wasn't my favorite. Overall, the service was the highlight of our visit, but the food didn't quite meet our expectations, especially considering the price.

Okay I used to have a 5 Star Review for this place-I have been coming here as a kid with my family and I am now almost 30. As an adult, I would constantly spend around $75 on take out each time here, practically once a week. Hopefully someone from President Thai sees the reason I stopped going to President Thai and the reason my family don't choose to go too much anymore too. We are sick of wasting our money by giving you many chances to go back to the quality of food you used to have. ATTENTION PRESIDENT THAI MANAGEMENT: YES ALL OF YOUR REGULAR CUSTOMERS HAVE NOTICED YOUR FOOD QUALITY HAS WENT DOWNHILL THE PAST YEAR LOOKING AND TASTING LIKE FAST FOOD AND NOT LIKE HIGH QUALITY THAI AND YET YOUR PRICES ARE STILL ON THE RISE AS IF IT IS HIGH QUALITY WHEN IT IS NOT ANYMORE AT ALL.....INTERESTING. When we first got seated the plate was dirty I asked for a new one. Then the water jug had a barcode sticker in the inside where the water we drink from is so I asked the bus boy for a new water jug and some straws. When he came back... The bus boy served me a straw with a pubic hair that fell off of it when I picked it up off our table. I used the straw paper to pick up the pubic hair for the photo. I was in tears from how disgusted I was. I lost my appetite and will never eat here again. Even after I showed them all the pubic hair THEY THEN SERVED MY FOOD RIGHT NEXT TO IT ON THE TABLE and then they took the pubic hair away to the kitchen, they were not remorseful about it. They never even offered to take the dish off our check since I didn't eat it because of this disgusting experience. They didn't care at all. I left to the car in tears to wait for my dad to finish the check. My dad was watching that guy bus afterwards and told me he noticed was not busing clean. Eat at your own risk, they are NOT clean. They have the worst management I ever experienced with a restaurant. They are so greedy and do not care for their customers they just want to make money. Pay attention to the dishes and everything! There is no excuse for being dirty when handling food! Everytime I would come here they gave me dirty dishes and now this a thick PUBIC HAIR wow. Disgusting and it's gross I'm so mad. I have dined at President Thai perhaps a dozen times of the past ten or so years and can say confidently that whether you are just traveling through Pasadena, or you live in the area and hanker for Thai food, any stop to President Thai will be well rewarded with great service and wonderful food. Thanks to the longtime owners who have closely managed this clean and casual but upscale and well-decorated etating establishment, the service is consistently fast, accurate and attentitve and the food is unvaryingly tasty. Try the wonderful stir fried rice or the classic pad thai and satay with a Thai ice thea and you will not be disappointed. Locals know this is the most delicious Thai food to be found in the most pleasant setting besides Natalee Thai on the west side (two locations). As a visual bonus, the waitsfaff are real headturners with typical Thai grace and friendliness (most with a trace of a lovely accent). Every dish you order is likely to be very well turned out and satisfying. It is likely to be the most memorable Thai meal you will have in the United States and the some of best Thai food outside of Thailand. You will not find a lot of originality or fancy flashy new riffs, but you will be greeted promptly and offered rendtitions of the old familiar dishes in a comfortable dining room at reasonable prices. read more

I came here my girlfriend the other day, and the place is really nice. My girlfriend went to the equator in pasadena once when we got into a fight, but she came back like she always did, but with a taste for asian cuisine. I attend PCC, and people always talked about this place. I thought we'd go here, it was always packed so I made a reservation first. The host is really nice! She smiled, looked us in the eyes, and took us to our table. I didn't know what half the menu said, but what really got my attention was the bar beneath certain things. Level of spiciness! I went with the coconut chicken curry, and a level 10! go big or go home. She got the Pad Thai at a level 5. It was a fun night at President That, as we spent most of the night seeing if I could finish everything. I was red, sweating, and my eyes and nose were running. On top of that, the food was made very well, cooked to the right proportions. the coconut went so well with the spice, I tasted like heaven and hell in my mouth. The pad thai had tofu in it which really accented all the ingredients. I'd love to go back, but it's out of the way for me, but I'm glad I went at least once. I really wish I could say something positive about President Thai, but unfortunately, this place was a complete disappointment. First off, the restaurant was dirty. The tables weren't wiped properly, and the overall cleanliness of the place was questionable. To make matters worse, I found something gross on my plate it looked like a piece of plastic or some other debris that shouldn't have been there. Definitely a huge red flag. But the worst part? There were bugs. Not just one or two, but a few crawling around near the windows and on the floor. It really made me lose my appetite and question the overall hygiene of the kitchen. The food didn't help either. The pad Thai was soggy and bland, no veggies in it,and the green curry tasted more like watered-down soup than anything flavorful. Service was slow, and the staff didn't seem particularly concerned when I mentioned the issues. I won't be returning to President Thai, and I honestly recommend skipping it if you care about both cleanliness and quality. Such a letdown. read more

We always liked President Thai. Up the road from downtown Pasadena, in nearby Rosemead, thrives one of the best Thai cuisines of Los Angeles. Admittedly, the President Thai may be short of exhibiting an exotic name to match its exquisite cuisine, yet, its kitchen has plenty of superbly exotic dishes piled up the sleeves of its delightfully designed menu. The atmosphere is quaint and cozy, the service kind and attentive and the food provide us during each visit with a road-map into the best selection of authentic Thai cuisine. When a trip to Thailand is not accessible within our schedules, then the President Thai, will with no doubt provide us with a sublime journey into the exotic world of its exquisite cuisine. We had beef satay and was grilled medium with a tender texture. The pork bbq noodle soup was delicious, tasty meat balls in clear broth noodle soup. This restaurant is p o p u l a r! We were able to find parking, but just barely. The entire lot was packed by 7:30pm on a Saturday night. The interior of the restaurant was neat and clean, and the waitstaff were efficient and friendly. Fifteen minutes into our meal, the entire restaurant was filled to capacity, with groups of people waiting near the doorway. Wouldn't say it is the best Thai food in the area. Saladang Song in Pasadena (on Fair Oaks) offers equivalent pricing, similar dishes, and superior restaurant decor. Crab Fried Rice (A thai meal staple- theirs was decent, nothing to write home about) Duck Red Curry (Delish! Perfect flavor/intensity. An instant fav for me.) Soft Shell Crab (Batter was too thick, a tad bit over-fried) Overall, good experience and decent food. Upon leaving, the owner thanked us in true Thai tradition (with palms folded in prayer). I come here often with my family for lunch and dinner and we are always happy with the quality of the food. The service is always fantastic, there has never been an issue. We are always very well taken care of and I can really tell they take customer service seriously. They have some great lunch specials. I usually get the usual things, pad Thai, pad see ew, and Tom yum soup - all delicious! Their crab cake and fried tofu apps are also popular amongst my family. Dishes can get a little pricey during non-lunch hours, $15-20 depending on the type of meat. It adds up when you come with a big group. I think lunch is when you can get the best bang for your buck. They can get pretty busy at night during dinner time so be prepared to wait, especially on weekends. Their parking lot can also get a little hairy. Parking on the street might help to avoid some stress during peak hours. All in all, a great local place to get some delicious Thai food! read more

The restaurant has a lively, welcoming atmosphere, and the service was attentive and friendly throughout our meal. We started with the coconut soup with shrimp and chicken satay, both packed with flavor and a great way to kick things off. The cashew chicken was savory with the perfect balance of crunch and sauce, while the pineapple fried rice was fragrant, flavorful, and generously portioned. Ive been venturing to Thai President since it was a little house on the side of the road with a pink interior and apx. eight tables. Back then the food was Da' Bomb and this was years ago mind you. Now it's still . . . Da'Bomb! * * * * * Definately 5 stars. This place has never, not ever dissapointed and if there is a problem I've spoke with the manager (from knowing him from back when) and he is always pleasent to speak with and willing to fix what evers wrong. ALL and I do mean ALL of their food is great. I've brought my family here, friends and boyfriend(s) and they all ha ve liked it. You can always leave felling satisfied. But there are things one must know. 1,) Yes, the food is delicious! 2,) You do have to tell the waiters medium if you dont like it spicy 3.) The food is good, but is it really worth the price? After they remodeled the restaurant, I do believe that it had a better "feel" to it. But I've been to Thailand enough to know that this is not authentic thai food. There is too much artificial flavoring.. msg, and the food is way too greasy. However, I do recommend the Chicken satay. That was about the only thing I liked of the 7 dishes we ordered (Pad Thai, Ka Na Gai, Shrimp Fried Rice, Rad Nar, Tom Yum Koong) However, for $8, the satay was very small. I'm a small person, and I could've eaten two orders with enough room to eat a real meal. The Pad Thai and Fried rice was too dry for real Thai food. Parking was a big pain as well. But the servers were very nice, and quite efficient with the water (as someone prevoiusly mentioned). "I can't wait to leave a 20% tip!" Says no one ever - unless you're at President Thai. The servers here are so compassionate and welcoming. My family and I almost grabbed a few more chairs next to us so we could welcome our waitress and waiters to sit and dine with us! My family's top favorites: 1) Green Curry Seafood 2) Satay Beef Skewers (so good, we ordered this dish twice - one as an appetizer and one as an... as an... uh.. after-dinner-appetizer...) President Thai is a great thai food to eat at, especially for that neighborhood. From my experience, all the good Thai restaurants are in Hollywood. President Thai is one of those exception. First thing I really love about this place is the decor. Even from the outside, the restaurant looks like this temple you would only find in Thailand. In the inside of the restaurant is also cool They have cool Thai art stuff on the wall. Makes you feel like you are in a themed restaurant or something. Very cool. The food itself ain't bad either. The spicy clam here is really good. The spicy to the point where it kicks you on the mouth. If you love spicy food, you know what I'm talking about. I've also tried the seafood pad see ewe here. That one is mediocre. The should have used the asian brocolli instead of the regular american one. That's not authentic thai at all. read more

Our first time here and we came on a friday night around 6:00pm. There were a couple of tables available and we were able to sit down right when we arrived but the place was full around 7pm when more people started arriving and some had reservations. They have parking in the front and can get pretty full around dinner time. You can also park in the street if there are any available. FOOD: I would say the dishes are family style and you can share with 2 to 3 people. We got the calamari, Tom yum seafood soup, roasted duck curry, eggplant basil w/ ground chicken, soft shell crab, silver noodle with large shrimp, and mango sticky rice. Hands down my go-to Thai restaurant in the 626! I'm so Glad I live down the street, bless Yelp for doing its job and guiding me to this restaurant. My go-to dishes at this place is their Panang curry. The last time I had great panang curry was back when I went to Bangkok. Most of the time the curry I've ordered around the Bay Area and LA were watery and didn't have much of the panang paste. Thank goodness the consistency of the curry here was just right. Not too watery, not too thick. It's perfect when I coat my white rice with it. Another favorite of mines would be their pad-Thai. Yes, I know everyone orders this, but the amount of tamarind was perfect. Definitely a must try when you come. It makes sense why this place gets so packed easily. Here's a place that just gets everything right. We've been in twice (2 of us)... the first time was during a quiet afternoon, maybe 3 other tables, and the second time was during a very busy 7p.m. Friday night dinner rush with a full house. We thought, "Oh, they were so fast and good during the quiet lunch because it was quiet." NOPE! Even during the busy dinner rush, we were seated and served drinks very quickly. Like amazingly fast, within a minute or two. Very impressed! I ordered Pad Thai both times and it was consistently good, and my date ordered a really yummy soup. This will be our regular go-to Thai place since we like that it's so fast and good. Prices are reasonable for the excellent quality & service. Not cheap, but not expensive, about $15 for the Pad Thai. read more
